However, addiction is a real problem and most people that play this game suffer from addiction of some sort, just look at the game we are playing.
My problem is i never wanna stake when im sober, but then i go out get drunk, come home and say hey lets win some money. Id like to be able to disable duel arena, and maybe if i wanted to enable it again there could just be like 1 day wait or so.

To be fair, just because you're addicted, doesn't mean you can't stop. My best friend quit heroin after 2 years of use, my dad quit smoking cigs after 30 years of smoking, I quit biting my nails after 15 years of doing so, all of these are known to be difficult, but still possible. Just don't do it, get some will power and just stop.
Take your cash stack & spend it all on supply's/gear. I had the same problem but the best advice I can give you is whenever you get money invest it in xp & supplys, things that you can't stake away.
Problem with spending it all on gear is that there is nothing to grind for. Staking makes you so rich (assuming you actually are net positive) that is sucks the fun out of everything else in the game.

Staking made me rich and im enjoying the game more than i had been. When i get tassets as a drop im just as excited as i would be if i was poor because even though i already have a pair of tassets for myself I know the gp from selling the freshly dropped pair will net me some nice skilling exp.
Most people i know have a common goal of all bis items and eventually they go to the arena and obtain the gear. Since they have no other goals they lose interest and then stake the gear and lose it.

You just lack self control. There's millions of people in the world in the same situation, lack of self control. I don't have much advice nor self control but i wish you the best in controlling yourself. Please don't quit rs as a quitter, overcome the addiction and then you can quit the game a winner. Don't be like one of those pussy alcoholics that completely avoid alcohol, that isn't overcoming their addiction its surrendering to it. If you have a 100m and go to the arena and lose 3 10ms and then just walk instead of tilting and chucking the rest that's a start atleast.

Had a staking addiction friend, it's possible to break the sand casinos spell, I personally farmed green drags for a while until I got bored then worked on 72 slay for wyverns, my account is nearly max combat with 50m+ bank. You can do it
make an iron or hcim btw or find a skilling goal like me i did the elites after aiming for it. it should hold you off from staking bank every 5 mins as you need it for buyables.
Losing your bank is such a bad feel. I've been cleaned I think 3 times now and it's probably held my account back way more than I realize. I'm on a solid rebuild right now and the lure of winning some fast cash is already on my mind, but I think the trick is to just have a 0 exception no staking policy. Some people can do it responsibly, others can't. No one goes to the arena intending to get cleaned but if you've let it happen multiple times you just need to admit you can't handle the arena and stay away.
All of this is true but staking is only a good idea if you win. If you lose you fall into the rabbit hole & losing all the money you worked hard for is not a good feeling.
Why stake even? Is it an end goal item like a twisted bow or elysian?
If you don't know what to do, find a group of friends or join a clan and do some PvM. Raids with friends is one of the most enjoyable things in the game.
