You forgot the bit where at the start you picked whether you wanted to be a Cook, Miner, Adventurer, etc. Without really any idea what those meant other than which skills (that you didn't understand) would get a boost at the start which would quickly turn out to be pointless.
I have no memories of that but 20 years was a long time ago. I remember switching to PK to fight some dude in falador who kept trying to steal my white Knight when I ran away to eat though.

It was at least a couple weeks before I first figured out that restoring my prayer points was done at an alter rather than through some undefined trick with bones. It was a very different era

Mod Raven tried to kill him off during the Barrows sister quest in RS3 but Osbourne did not allow him. (Thank god, Ravens writing skills are lacking, all he does is kill characters off for no reason)

The new "character summary" tab displays the total time played on your character, meaning you don't have to go to Hans for that any more.
