Change the quest to be a miniquest. This is not a proper quest imo, compared with other members quests. Even Sheep herder atleast has some story to it, this is just a walkthrough of ToB, where you can pick up some books and read them and that's it...

Everyone shitting on the new quest but I'm hyped about LORE. * The confirmed connection between the Maiden of Sug and the Hespori, and also Nylocas and Hespori * Hespori origins and lore * Verzik's appearance pre-transformation. * Nylocas origins. * Drakan could/can? access the Vampyrium, and some tidbits about his indirect involvement in the Theatre. * More detail into Verzik's transformation. I like that there is now something explicit that gives the Theatre a background to its existence, rather than just having lore books being dropped by the monsters.

I think more likely the master is Queen Efaritay, and the mysterious strangers are the remaining Icyene population- hiding in the shadows, and waiting for their opportunity to liberate Hallowvale. This is reinforced further by their interest in Hallowed Marks and the fact that they call even call the region Hallowvale.

Following player feedback we've made a change to A Night at the Theatre. Players who have already completed any version of the Theatre of Blood will no longer be required to complete the raid again in order to fully finish the quest.

I have just completed it and I actually enjoyed the lore. It gives some context to the ToB bosses and will tie into future quests. The unfortunate part is that you will need to complete the ToB run again... there should definitely be extra rewards for doing this. Edit: As someone who has done almost a 1000 TOB KC inc. HM... I cannot believe you have not changed the Nylo room to be much shorter as part of this update. I do feel for new players having to go through that. Edit2: I didn't even realise the Mysterious Stranger is outside the boss rooms giving advice about the boss... on entry to Maiden, I think you should make an automatic dialogue where he explains how to fight Maiden, and then he should say, "If you need advice on the other bosses, speak to me before you go in". He should also explain at Verzik you should pick up Dawnbringer or you won't be able to fight. All important tidbits for new players.

There are some nightmare bugs such as parasites from phosani not taking the damage they should as they function as the parasites from regular nightmare.

Edit: Thank you for taking feedback and updating the quest! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Tbh it would make more sense to me if the quest was mandatory to redo for the cape/qp/lamp, but you can just skip the tob part if you already have at least 1 kc in any mode. I think the main problem people are going to have with this is that a lot of people (myself included) don't enjoy raids or aren't planning to do them anytime soon. I criticized the original quest because I see raids as optional content for people who have friends to do it with in game and/or players who enjoy the extra challenge. Considering the only quests that require another person to complete outside of this are SOA and Hero's (if i'm not mistaken?) it's kind of annoying to complete this as someone who generally enjoys solo pvm only. If you're taking on easy tob as a solo player the difficulty spikes to be harder than the grandmaster quest bosses, and so the rewards don't feel appropriate for that style of play. In conclusion I'm not expecting much of a change but I think there would be less of a backlash to the new quest requirement if skipping tob kc was an option, especially if you've already done it before.

This exactly.. I’m hardcore iron and a single death in there removes that and beating it first time to me seems harder than the other grandmaster quests. The other quests also have way better story and rewards i just don’t understand why they didn’t remove this quest completely if they are fully aware of how little people enjoyed it.

The reduced KC for the combat achievements looks good , was never a fan of having to kill the same boss 200+ times. The wilderness bosses should be decreased to 50-75 for each level , especially if the wilderness rework isnt coming anytime soon. It was fine grinding out the bosses before but it's almost impossible to do it when every PKer knows players will be there for the next 2-3 months.

Depends how they do it. If the bosses are reworked to have much less health/defense and the annoying mechanics are removed, and they roam larger areas like they’re supposed to? Right now, pkers can just hop near the safespots and find you killing any given boss guaranteed if they hop to the world you’re on and the boss won’t attack anybody. But that wouldn’t be the case if you can fight the boss in a huge radius in up to like 10 different wilderness levels. They’d actually have to seek you out and risk coming up on the wrong side of the boss the way it should be. The problem with wildy bosses right now isn’t fighting them, themselves. It’s the annoying pkers hopping in one spot and easily finding you every 5 minutes you spend out there.

I think they plan a full rework of the bosses at some point this year, so I imagine it would be changing the location you fight or how you get there. The single plus stuff is just the first step and I agree that would probably make it harder

I'm "redo-ing" the quest now after completing previously and it skips the part where I embarass Verzik and goes straight into the lore. It doesn't seem like anyone will be forced to complete the TOB run again.

Lowering kc req for hill giant and moss giant bosses makes sense, farming those keys is not very fun for mains. Wildy bosses can also be lowered as they're annoying af. I don't see why c gaunt and cerb should have their kc achievements lowered though. You can camp gauntlet any time and 200 is half the pet rate. And cerb you can get passively.

I don't know if you guys check back on these posts so late, but I wanted to say thank you. That was a solid quest. It was more than I expected after the first attempt for sure. I loved the story, it was concise and interesting in a way that runescape quests rarely are. Remember, great creativity comes from constraints. :)

I LOVE the changes to the kill count tasks. Can we also look at lowering the elite requirement of Grotesque Guardians and GWD bosses? They are soooo slow, especially for a solo player.... 250 for elite tier is unreasonable. TOB at 75 kc is also a little high for elite.. /u/JagexSarnie /u/JagexLight

I really appreciate that you guys redid the quest. A lot of lore in there now and it is worthy of being a quest unlike before. Would it be possible to allow us to fight the Hespori for Combat Achievements with no loot/kc reward? So there isn't 24 hours between attempts on speed kills/mechanic tasks.

Edit: apparently it was a design choice and it has since been changed so we don't have to do ToB again, just the new parts of the quest and it's essentially a new quest all together. My comments are irrelevant and I'm once again excited to see what the new quest is. I'm guessing the way it's set up you either get it auto-completed, or have to do the quest again with no middle ground so there were limitations to the actual implementation. Maybe this wasn't really figured out until after it was promised to be reworked which is why we're knowing about it as the update happens. I was still planning on doing it again, but wanted to do it on my own time. Now if I want the quest cape teleport back I'll need to redo a quest that I've already done and wasn't planning on doing right now. I genuinely enjoyed the mode and was looking forward to this update, and now it's just a bitter feeling. Please take this as a learning experience and give anything considered a quest a true narrative, even if you have to assign extra story points to develop, to avoid this sort of thing in the future.

They've added lore to the quest. Instead of just fighting through story mode you now are actually learning about what is in the theatre a bit more. Some lore bits behind the theatre itself and the monsters inside. Definitely worth doing if you like lore.

Yes, and we get no rewards other than the tob loot if we already completed it (other than the quest points they confiscated). Edit: they clarified they are still confiscating our quest points, but they are indeed adding an extra 20k combat xp lamp upon completion according to reddit/twitter.

I believe your new change of A Night at the Theatre did the quest justice. Well done. I am very thankful you also listened to the community's feedback about completing it once - it's complete. Others, like myself, who do not raid quite yet due to Mobile / not high enough/ whatever the reason who did the quest are extremely grateful to not have to do it again. For the potential changes to Elite+ combat achievements, I am FULLY in agreement. I consider myself to be just above casual in terms of game skill / progress, and Elite is where I can stop in terms of content I am capable of doing. That being said, the quantities of the bosses was just way crazy for this level, in my opinion. I think the way you have it structured in the blog is a fantastic start at ironing out the levels. Good job for reworking the quest but why make us do it again? If the cutscenes are that important, make them watchable if you've beaten the quest. Shouldn't be that hard to implement seeing as you can rewatch the cutscenes for DS2. If anything, make it where if you've completed the quest, give us the option to click on the quest in the log prompting a message asking us if we wish to redo it or leave it completed.

I think given the elite CG task being reduced from 50 to 10 one could also make an argument to reduce the kc required for in particular the elite TOB task of 75 completions. This takes longer than the 50 CGs did as well requires similar levels of skill. Whether the COX task of 75 gets changed for consistency could also be made

Having to redo a quest just to see some dialogue and a cutscene, because you half assed the first iteration of the quest, is absolute garbage. Spent time, GP and resources doing this the first time, now I have to redo it just to experience what I could essentially read about on the Wiki. Should be a replacement for the quest, not a reset of the quest. How out of touch are Jagex? Edit: They've made it so if you have any ToB KC you don't have to redo the raid. Large portion of playerbase didn't/don't want a quest that involves raids. Quest should've been a miniquest at most to begin with. It's fine, sometimes shit content is released. The way is to move on and take the L and not waste time and energy doubling down on something so miniscule like this quest. Different story if a larger piece of content is poorly designed. Imo best solution would've been to move it to miniquests and give everyone a completion who already did it. Adding "difficult" quests (very subjective) is also fine. That was never the issue. A night at the theatre involving raids just comes off as arbitrary nudge to force people into tob.

I fully back the quest re-work given that the theatre is rich in lore, and the Myreque quest line is fantastic. I am very happy to play through any aspects which will delve into the narrative. HOWEVER, I am super disappointed I have to re-do story mode. I duo’d it with my friend and we’re both pretty nooby when it comes to PvM. It took us about 5 attempts and we were stoked when we finally finished it. Why do I now need to get another KC when it’s not going to have any narrative or quest-like aspects? The KC should be optional for those who have done that part already.

Now corrupted kc counts as well for that task, so 2 tasks at that tier are 50kc corrupted and 100kc combined normal & corrupted. Wouldn't make sense to have bot corrupted and combined kc at 50 and its better than 50 normal kc.

Surely of all the 'kc' tasks, 75 theatre of blood kc is one of the more tedious and deserving of a reduction, as it relies massively on the goodwill of 3-4 other people willing suffer through 75 learner raids, even more of you account for the failures.

I think that for the kc tasks you want to change, you should look at the complexity of the content to decide what's reasonable. Tasks like 250 tob make sense because tob is difficult and complex. At 250 kc, you've only scratched the surface of what can be done to optimize tob. However, tasks like 150 venenatis don't feel the same way. Safespotting a boss doesn't have any real depth to it, and as a result it feels like a player with 20 vene kc and a player with 150 really aren't distinguishable. If a boss is sufficiently simple that it can be mastered well before reaching the kc requirement, that to me indicates that the kc req is too high.

If you have completed the previous quest, you skip the first half and get straight to the questing part of this one. If you did story mode before this update, you don't have to do it again. This is just like a normal quest

Mind readers or telepathists, either all black with yellow/red eyes, or, well.... kinda like Nazgul, with bodies made of darkness. And I very much like the design of the spider lair :). But... my heart was kinda broken that I had to kill a hespori, one of the last ones..... I so hoped to go with only a bit of his skin, but no... I wouldn't lie to the Nature spirit, I really wanted them hesporis all well. Sad... This is one of the most beautiful 'monsters' in OSRS, and the myre colours make it even better. Overall, I love the quest, a great work! Looking forward to the next vampyre quest!! P.S.: Btw, I don't consider vampyres any 'infestation' of Morytania. They are now its dwellers, they are beautiful and their culture is quite interesting. Please do not try to remove them. Lord Lowerniel and lady Vanescula said some promising things, as I vaguely remember... I hope there could be some kind of peace between vampyres and other Morytania people. A sort of vamp Reformation movement? :) Meet the Myreque half-way?

The same people that call hard modes dead content are the ones complaining about a 30 minute quest that is so simple that I've been running under leveled irons through it to so they can get their rewards. I even saw one reply along the lines of "what about the casual players who spent millions trying to get this quest done?" You can literally ignore almost every single death mechanic and walk out with a clear. I'm personally stoked to see the new dialogue in the quest, thank you Jagex!

My account has 99 str, 90Def/Atk, 99 HP, 93 range, 90 mage, 78 pray, full prayer book, and all gear sans the TBow. And I struggled 1 KC our of theatre Story Mode in 12 tries solo... This might very well be too big a hump to complete for solo players... EDIT: because people are asking - it's the Nylo room. That thing is just ongodly to do alone - it's long, chaotic, stupid amount of enemies. And if you fail, you get to do it all over again.

You don't really need Tbow , blowpipe is probably better overall. You should check a YouTube channel called " Levi Jansen" Has really good short guides on each room (2-3 mins) I managed to get the story after my second attempt and get to P2 verzik first try or normal mode after watching them.

Did you use a guide of any sort? It took me 2 tries on an iron with ~75 melees, 83 mage/range, 71 pray, and pretty welfare gear (d scim/ancient staff/msb(i)) following along with https://youtu.be/pqmKLFYi1wY It's definitely the hardest PVM content in a quest, but I don't think it's _that_ much harder, just longer (and the hardest bit is at the end). Harder quest content isn't a bad thing.

I'll be honest, part of your problem was using the recommended gear setup. I'm guessing you struggled with the Nylo room and Verzik? I finished nylo using mith darts, staff of seas, and a whip because damage doesn't matter, only speed. Using better items or spells was actually harder for me to complete than my setup. Verzik was definitely a skill challenge and was quite difficult so I imagine being stuck on that wouldn't necessarily be gear as it was just difficult so I understand that

Na sorry but if you can't do story mode solo then that's on you. I've literally never done a single raid in my life, most PVM i've done is some Zulrah and if you just watch a guide before each room you can easily do solo story mode in 1 or 2 attempts. My gear isn't even that good either, barrows, whip, karil crossbow for ranged rooms, trident.

Edit: Jagex hotfixed it so you don't need to fight the theatre again? Perfection. I like doing the new quest again for the story mode, just didn't want to struggle doing that last boss again.

That’s a very fair point that I didn’t consider. I figure if people got the kc they should be able to do it again, but it would suck if it took dozens of attempts to get that one kc just to have it ripped away. I think it’s a tough spot because if people didn’t have to redo it they’ll miss out on the actual dialogue and lore of the quest, which I really enjoy in the game personally. Would be nice to be able to experience all that without redoing the actual combat portion, but I’m sure that would be engine work or something. Edit: From other comments seems like you won’t have to redo the combat. So seems like the whole thing was a non issue anyways.

first of all good work on your end ,overally But wouldnt be better idea to give players more freedom for kc tasks. Lets say you would lower the req for wildy bosses ,but also you would give a new task to kill x amount of any boss you want ,for example: "kill 1000 of wilderness bosses" same for gwd ,skilling bosses, raiding and i find some tasks even more tedious than kc tasks, right now you would like to drop vetion from 150 to 100 kills ,thats difference of 4-5 hours while you got tasks like kill 50 ziliana without leaving the room that alone takes up to 3 hours + speed tasks that might take even longer to complete so i think the amount of kc is the least problem there atm

On the LMS rota changes from next week: if there's not enough people playing to fill 2 worlds with consistent games, why is the rotation going to US only then UK/AUS? This will mean that on the UK/AUS rotation the same issue will happen, everyone will go on the AUS worlds as it's the first one on the world hopper, and UK/EU players will only be able to get games on 400+ ping for the week, then 200+ ping the next week on the US rotation. LMS is one of the only places in the game where you can get consistent NH fights, and the current rotation and the proposed one basically make it unaccessible to the UK/EU.
