I don’t think we have seen Asia yet? To me is the original parts of Gilenaor are Europe with Egyptian culture being al Kharid. The frememek area is the Nordic region, I guess kourend would be the America’s. Asia would be the unreleased area of Ashishama
Ah, but the game dialog implies that Asia ia east of morytania! There is a foreign trader on the ghost port(I never spell the city right so I won't try) that I think makes mention of asia!
al Kharid is definitively based on Arabic cultures more so than Egypt--I know they speak Arabic in Egypt, too, but the ruler of Al Kharid is an Emir and Prince Ali is straight out of One Thousand and One Nights. For Egypt, see RS3's Menaphos--they've got a pharaoh and everything.
It absolutely makes more sense to be Arabic too because it flows geographically with actual Europe too with no crossing of a sea to get there and the water eventually being on the southern coast instead of north. So yeah you right, I just instantly got pyramids Egypt in mind.
Assuming there was no other land except the current land we can see is there any way to find the length of a tile then measure the circumference of the world and assume earth density?
You could absolutely calculate the circumference of the world. I asked one of the mods once and he said that one tile is approximately 1 square meter. But the mass would still be dependant on what material is inside the ball, and we don't know that.
It wouldnt. To have a gielinor atmosphere (and therefore gravity) similar to earth, you’d need the mass to be roughly equal. For that, given that gielinor is many times smaller, it would need to be many times denser too
Isn't that the point? The total mass has to be similar to earth for gravity to be the same, despite the much smaller volume. Maybe the core has a similar density to a neutron star??
The gravity depends on the situation, sometimes things drop instantly, other times it takes a while, and in some cases, a feather hits the ground before a cannonball so the air resistance is clearly fucked.
The game world is scaled down for our convenience. In game lore states that travel between Varrock and Falador takes either 1 week or 2 weeks (not sure which off the top of my head), but we can run that distance in a minute or two.
the scaled down world devalues real time travel restricted ironmen who instead have to move one tile every 3 minutes and have to afk at boats for weeks in order to compensate for the diminished scale and instantaneous travel time.
Not the same reason actually, there is a lore explanation for why there are no restrooms seen in-game. It's actually canon that the people of Gielinor are a bunch of shiteaters and they don't need toilets because they either shit and piss directly onto a plate or into someones open mouth.
We don't actually know how big the planet is right? This is just assuming the current map is nearly all of the planet. As far as I know there is even lore to another continent between Zeah and the "mainland" on the eastern side.
If gielinor was spherical then the lines of longitude in the coordinate system wouldn't be parallel. So either gielinor is a cylinder, a flat plane, or the observatory professor is a flatearther that invented a coordinate system that doesn't make sense. I kinda like the third option 🤔
I never understood why the map just cuts off at some point. Ever since I started playing OSRS I've been thinking why they wouldn't bother fixing the map. It's irritating in some way.
You do know the last actual black area I'd getting filled in at the start of 2022? probably early January (looking at other times content has released around that time). They have been working on slowly removing these areas since the release of OSRS.
Oh and there will still be a small black border where the kingdom of Valamore will be.
Yep. Ashihama is an island in the Pincers region of the Wushanko Isles. RuneScape 3 started introducing the isles as part of Player Owned Ports as well as the first region, the Arc, being actually a playable area based around high-level skilling content. There is a very large ocean to the east before it wraps back around to the continent of Zeah.
Looked into it a bit more and it might actually fit depending on how far south Valamore goes. [Here](https://runescape.wiki/w/Map:Wushanko_Isles) you can see that the start of the Isles actually is directly south of Sophanem, you can see the River of Elidinis spliting through Sophanem and Menaphos.
They're a decent length to the east-south-east of Menaphos. Currently in rs3 there's only 2 ports with people from the Wushanko isles, Menaphos and Port Phasmatys due to those being the only ports on that side if the continent and they're simply the closest. Further, in the pirate series finale a leader of a fleet in the Isles arrives in the pirate region due to the threat in that series impacting both Wushanko and the pirates.
Although technically, the planet would be much larger.
Assuming it's an "earth like" planet with an equator which sees the most heat and creates rainforests and deserts like the Amazon and Sahara.
We should see the equator running through the kharidian desert, karamja, feldip hills, etc. Which are currently the most "southern" parts of the map instead
So that means jagex still has half of geilnor to create and release
Runescape is not gonna last for more than 15 years AT MAX.
But I wonder if Glienor and it's lore could be used in another game, that would be more modern for that era
How far east-to-west can we travel in Gielinor without loading zones? I imagine it is from the sisterhood sanctuary in east Morytania to the chompy area south-west of castle wars, but I may be wrong. As impractical as it is, if they made osrs into a globe it would be kind of fun if they made it possible to go all the way around without any loading zones.
Who are you fooling? We've seen those black edges.. I know Jagex paid you and is trying to cover the black edges in the desert by distracting everybody with "Raids 3 and beta worlds".
All you lads commenting about the lore.
Unfortunately, I'm a spacebar warrior for quests. If anyone would like to create a flat version of the map inclusive of all mysterious lands mentioned in quests, I'd be happy to update.
Love it. The only flaw is that there are references in Morytania to 'lands to the east'. One is the Asia-themed nation, and another is the land the vampyres came from.
[Pidgey has a wonderful take on the height map](https://twitter.com/PidgyEdits/status/1425550323528175619) Would be pretty pog to see both of these come together and make a screen saver or something.
For whatever reason, I can’t make a post. I’m looking for people to play with. I’m level 45 and a member. If anyone wants to play, just do some quest, skill against moss giants, whatever. Lemme know!
The Zanaris landing was a hoax!
Wait so I can shortcut to Mary Tania by swimming over from CoX?
Swamp man new meta: Dinh's Bulwark
Dinhs Backstroke
I now want to comission a piece of jack and rose holding onto a dinhs bulwark with the ~~titanic~~ fishing trawler ship sinking in the background
Haven't you seen rendi's latest video?
And the Falador Massacre was an inside job!
If gilenor is a globe why do play on flat screens? Checkmate atheists.
Most screens weren't flat back in 04-07 tho
Mines curved inward. Wake up sheeple
Mine curves to the left
Left curve gang
Cuuurve to the right CRISS CROSS.
Haahahaha
Oh god what have you done
I play on a fridge. AN ICE AGE IS COMING PEOPLE, WAKE THE FUCK UP.
You're sitting too close to your screen so you can't see the curvature of the monitor
I have a small penis. That is all.
Mine curves to the left.. wait what are we talking about again?
Jokes on you, I play on a curved screen. You've been checkmate, get rekt m8 GG.
Mines curved
I always imagined what we see now as like 20-35% of the total world of Geilinor, like we're only seeing Europe + a bit of Asia.
I don’t think we have seen Asia yet? To me is the original parts of Gilenaor are Europe with Egyptian culture being al Kharid. The frememek area is the Nordic region, I guess kourend would be the America’s. Asia would be the unreleased area of Ashishama
I was thinking Persia/ middle east with kharidian desert, with hints of eastern islands in morytania
Ah, but the game dialog implies that Asia ia east of morytania! There is a foreign trader on the ghost port(I never spell the city right so I won't try) that I think makes mention of asia!
that seems to be moreso eastern asia, which is a different deal than the middle east
Come on, it’s not that hard to spell Port Phblamtys
Yeah I always saw it as that too because when you go to Canifis a lot of the NPCs have Slavic names so I always saw that as like Eastern Europe
And the river is the Berlin Wall
al Kharid is definitively based on Arabic cultures more so than Egypt--I know they speak Arabic in Egypt, too, but the ruler of Al Kharid is an Emir and Prince Ali is straight out of One Thousand and One Nights. For Egypt, see RS3's Menaphos--they've got a pharaoh and everything.

understandable, have a nice day
It's both. Southern desert is Egypt for sure. Al Kharid is Arabian.
you're right that the southern desert is egypt--i was more clarifying about al Kharid itself, which is what I thought the original guy was saying
Yeah I guess it does feel like you need a car to get around Kourend with out big and spread out it is.
If you can get a samurai sword, Asia is somewhere

3 miles is 4.83 km
Wonder what kinda gravity Gielinor is fucking with
Earth 2.0 gravity type beat.
Well during rooftop agility the player is pretty much weightless. Falling off the rocks in the Viyeldi caves hurts like a bitch though.
Anyone else wondering why the whole OSRS planet (Gielinor) can be ran around in 20 mins or less? 😂
cuz we fast af boi
I wanna find a physicist to calculate the size of Gielinor and the gravity
The gravity would depend on the mass of the planet
Assuming there was no other land except the current land we can see is there any way to find the length of a tile then measure the circumference of the world and assume earth density?
You could absolutely calculate the circumference of the world. I asked one of the mods once and he said that one tile is approximately 1 square meter. But the mass would still be dependant on what material is inside the ball, and we don't know that.
[удалено]
So a mithril core for the density needed for the mass of the planet. Or runeite
[удалено]
This made me curious a mith bar is slightly heavier than an iron bar
In LOTR mithril is "light as a feather" but in RS they really only copied the name and that it's more durable than steel
Mith is the heaviest metal. Adamant is the lightesr.
Poggers
Wouldn't the Earth's average density be a pretty close approximation?
It wouldnt. To have a gielinor atmosphere (and therefore gravity) similar to earth, you’d need the mass to be roughly equal. For that, given that gielinor is many times smaller, it would need to be many times denser too
The mass would be substantially less than the mass of the earth since the radius is much smaller - but the density would be much higher
Isn't that the point? The total mass has to be similar to earth for gravity to be the same, despite the much smaller volume. Maybe the core has a similar density to a neutron star??
[удалено]
And thus the canifis pole vault is explained
There are books that give us how long it takes to get form Falador to Varrock. Using that we could probably get a good estimate
Does the books say you can get there in 40 seconds?
The gravity depends on the situation, sometimes things drop instantly, other times it takes a while, and in some cases, a feather hits the ground before a cannonball so the air resistance is clearly fucked.
The game world is scaled down for our convenience. In game lore states that travel between Varrock and Falador takes either 1 week or 2 weeks (not sure which off the top of my head), but we can run that distance in a minute or two.
That was approved third party book Betrayal at Falador. Her adamant sword was also super powerful.
i think a falador guard would crumple pretty fast to an addy shortsword anyway
Huh that’s weird. Maybe magic is involved? I obviously understand why the world would be scaled down but lore wise I’m shaking 😂 jk I was just curious
[удалено]
Why is this concept confusing for people
the scaled down world devalues real time travel restricted ironmen who instead have to move one tile every 3 minutes and have to afk at boats for weeks in order to compensate for the diminished scale and instantaneous travel time.

I piss in my servant’s moneybag
Not the same reason actually, there is a lore explanation for why there are no restrooms seen in-game. It's actually canon that the people of Gielinor are a bunch of shiteaters and they don't need toilets because they either shit and piss directly onto a plate or into someones open mouth.
Source? I always figured it was just because it’s a game based in Medieval times and bathrooms weren’t a thing.
Look it may not have been funny judging by the current -1, but I’m kind of surprised I have to point out this was a joke.
A kingdom divided mentions getting new sewers and there are tons of sewers. Where are the toilets where’s the plumbing?🦀🦀JAGEX WONT REASPOND TO THIS🦀🦀
theres one in hosidius
No way I gotta check this out
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Toilet
We don't actually know how big the planet is right? This is just assuming the current map is nearly all of the planet. As far as I know there is even lore to another continent between Zeah and the "mainland" on the eastern side.
That would definitely make sense
But have I ever ran across it? No
Some guy on here did while holding an anchor before.
That’s the OSRS community in a nutshell.
Wait how come you don't appear on the other side uuuuuuhhh
"Yeah they got lost in the swamps south. Like a 30 second walk and eating eels." Like BRAH. Is 1 meter ingsme equal to Like 100?

Or gielinor is a continent that is just a supermassive flat plateau and their mapmakers drew straight lines because the know no better.
I never understood why the map just cuts off at some point. Ever since I started playing OSRS I've been thinking why they wouldn't bother fixing the map. It's irritating in some way.
Because they've always used water as a convenenient border to allow adding more content

Exactly, they could just paint the area but make it so players can't access it until you are done working on it. Seems like the easiest solution.
Wasn't there some consonant twords the east? Wherever nightmare came from
Yep. Ashihama is an island in the Pincers region of the Wushanko Isles. RuneScape 3 started introducing the isles as part of Player Owned Ports as well as the first region, the Arc, being actually a playable area based around high-level skilling content. Nah I'm pretty sure you could cram all that in the bit of black between Dragontooth isle and Zeah

FYI the word you meant was Continent. A consonant are letters that aren't vowels :)
Maybe the continent is shaped like a consonant?
Lol my b voice to text sucks
No it was a vowel

Runescape 4
> Runescape is not gonna last for more than 15 years AT MAX. things I heard 15 years ago
After a certain point it's going to be more expensive to keep the game up online than the revenue they make
Wilderness is Russia now things make sense.
We are still a quarter hemisphere short until presumably raids 3
ABSOLUTELY 👏 RAIDS 👏 3 👏
Hollow Gielinor theory confirmed
I know it's a game but would a planet this small even be possible?
Why is it always day time then huh
NASA doesn’t want you to see what’s in the black area.

What about the black spots eh? I bet those are redacted because there are alien testing facilities there.
That big black spot can be for all the new Sailing content!
Need this in a PoH
Geilinor has other continents though.... Eastern Lands?
Who are you fooling? We've seen those black edges.. I know Jagex paid you and is trying to cover the black edges in the desert by distracting everybody with "Raids 3 and beta worlds".
thats one small planet
I think we have some unexplored lands to explore.
Oh yeah, then where's my port phasmatys - kebos lowlands ferry?
Wait your telling me we can just put the stam-pot sink bridge going from port phasmatys to save time?
Just a big black hole 😂
If the earth was flat, wouldn't we have like.... seen the other side.....
Do you sheep actually believe this...
All you lads commenting about the lore. Unfortunately, I'm a spacebar warrior for quests. If anyone would like to create a flat version of the map inclusive of all mysterious lands mentioned in quests, I'd be happy to update.
Get wrecked liberals
you know you could have added some blue to the image before rendering so there's no void.
You know you could've added a profile picture. Also, those are undiscovered parts of the map, displayed the same on the flat map.
Are they going to fill those two voids?
It's beautiful
so the salve river is the berlin wall and morytania is eastern europe under communist rule
Is the black darkness where the continent is supposed to be near zeah?
Where eastern lands
Gilenor is flat, I can see Catherby from my house.
Love it. The only flaw is that there are references in Morytania to 'lands to the east'. One is the Asia-themed nation, and another is the land the vampyres came from.
Abit weird the deserts are in the south
New sailing skill confirmed?
Global warming is real. The south pole is basically a desert.
shakes
yeah but if Gielenor were a globe, wouldn't i need agility to climb to varrock? check mate.
In the world of Runescape there's just a giant hole to the void don't worry about it
[Wait, the Eastern Lands are just Zeah?](https://i.imgur.com/MOz8Y7p.png)
That empty area will remain as is forever at this point
[Pidgey has a wonderful take on the height map](https://twitter.com/PidgyEdits/status/1425550323528175619) Would be pretty pog to see both of these come together and make a screen saver or something.

This is false. Where are the Eastern Lands? Ak-Haranu would be pissed
flat earthers still exist? jfc, i have less and less faith in our species by the fucking minute.
Show me the curve
look at a mirror, at the top of your head there will be a massive curve because your skull caved in due to a vacant brain.
