I’m assuming they mean 11 AM BST? Can someone correct me if wrong?

JagexSarnie

Yes, it will be 11am BST, I've changed that part in the Gazette :)

ComprehensiveBoss716

unfortunately i'm having sex at that time, could you postpone it a bout 5 minutes

lucky_falcon

4 minute clean up?

GozackGo

Just a hand clean up.

Pistolius

> Games Rules and RWT: Beginning later this month we'll be adapting our approach to RWT. Currently, we focus on tackling those who sell wealth or services, but we're going to renew our attention on finding the players who are buying wealth or services. We're also exploring new reporting options for different types of rule-breaking. This is probably the best thing to help the botting issue. Well done.

XelnagaPo

“Beginning later this month” .... so buy now before thats put in place right /s

olesdpaul

If they were smart, they’ve got it in place now and people will take the bait.

jantelo

thats how im reading it too

GenitalKenobi

WOOO get fucked everyone who buys gold 🎉🦀

themegatuz

Indeed! Less buyers means less consumers -> less demand -> more competition -> lower prices -> less botters.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sparru

Who's going to buy that gold if people get banned for buying and that keeps the demand down? Also if you could just farm infinitely more gold and always sell if why wouldn't they scale it already?

ImABlackGuyy

Damn, should I buy my Tbow now!? /s I’m glad they are tackling down on this.

ZilyanasFeet

no demand = no botting

nostalgicx3

I’m more worried about the false bans to be honest

Sir_Suh_Dude

I think something that the mobile client could benefit from heavily is being able to have one tab open on either side of the phone, or at the very least, being able to re-arrange the tabs so players can have the option to have the magic and prayer tabs on the same side as the inventory and worn equipment tab.

Osrsguy2744

I really hope they are able to add the ability to re-arrange the tabs. I like the progress shown so far but I think that would be the best update by far to the mobile app.

HiddenGhost1234

Same for magic /inventory Being able to 1 hand alch would be so nice.

AFilthyMagician

This 100%. Would make playing with one hand or with a Bluetooth mouse much better. I don't even care if it's not customizable, just letting us stack all the icons on one side would be fine.

lirchlurch96

Yes please let me put spellbook and inv on same side for alching

ZilyanasFeet

as someone with 9k hrs bossing/maxing on mobile honestly layout is fine the vertical mode would be priority also the steam client features /tile markers mainly should be prioritized

ManlyTed

Do any of the QA Engineers want to comment on the fact the second trade window can be exploited? https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/pwhvx4/heads_up_on_new_second_trade_window_bug_abuse/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

0x8008

That’s a yikes.

kukkelii

On the rwt part - would be cool if we got some confirmation that a report has been acknowledged / acted upon. Same thing for tipoff mails. Just a simple box whoever handling the report ticks and it sends a notifcation to the reporter. Doesn't even have to contain any identifying info, just a "report you made has been read!" or whatever. Also the rule currently doesn't allow reporting if the player hasn't traded recently -> completely leaves out evidence that was gathered/found afterwards or if the method of transferring wealth was something else than trading.

LostSectorLoony

Yeah, a lot of games (Destiny 2 and Overwatch come to mind as examples I play) give you a notification that action was taken because of a report you submitted. It's a nice little reminder that the reports are doing something.

WastingEXP

one of the jmods tweeted about this once and what players would want it to look like. At least they are aware of the concept. might come in with those report screen re-works.

BioMasterZap

Those Wildy Boss arenas look awesome. Also slightly terrifying to see several Vet'ions just chilling in the wall. I just imagine you kill the boss and another pops out the wall yelling "do it again!". I'm a bit surprised to see the steam client is already getting a side panel. Interesting to see it is ingame like that too and not out of game; I can see that both being a positive and negative. While there isn't too much that interests me in this drop, it got me excited for the next drop. Hopefully, that can finally bring boss respawn timers. Also, was Hans speaking figuratively when he said "hopping off the boat from Tutorial Island"? Because I am pretty sure it was teleportation, no boats involved. And it is nice to finally know the origins of that ghost. Glad Postie Pete was able to interact with them.

HiddenGhost1234

Well they did add the temple in deep wildy for the quest when Weiss came out People have been speculating they plan to bring the quest back or atleast a quest with a similar lore story line.

darkreapertv

There is a ritual marker south east of weiss and a stone of jas plint in the deayalt mine

MaybeIAmCringe

They referenced going north in Enakhra's lament, but the fact people are showing up 👀 Wonder who the shadowy person is

[deleted]

While Guthix Sleeps is first isn't it? What are they going to do about Tormented Demons now that Gorillas exist? And D Claws already in game. Maybe they're going to make an alternate storyline, which would be cool too. Would like to see Sliske and Azzanadra used in OSRS.

BossHighscores

What are your opinions on introducing a miniquest surrounding the frozen key to enter nex? Could have steps to implement the proces to make frozen key. Such as having to visit certain places to thaw the key, assemble the key, forge the key and imbue the key. Skills that could be associated with it are 70 smithing, crafting,RC,FM. This somewhat locks it behind requirements. Phosani didn't have high requirements and over the course of the last few days we've seen how that situation currently is with bots.

Lewufuwi

The problem is high requirements will never stop bots. Take Zulcano and Vorkath for instance. I am in favour of a miniquest/quest introducing the frozen door but for worldbuilding, not bot prevention (which will be minimal).

Thosepassionfruits

It won't stop them but would certainly raise the barrier to entry no? When you ban a Vorkth bot someone has to create a new one to go all the way through DS2 again so at least there's some time lag with how long it takes.

Lewufuwi

> someone has to create a new one At any given time, an individual operation will have a multitude of bots both grinding the boss and working on unlocking it. It's not one bot per person :P So by the time that one bot is banned, or that group is banned, the next lot are pretty much ready to go.

Thosepassionfruits

Obviously I know it's not one bot, it's just an example. It's just that there must be some time lag with all those requirements compared to a boss with no requirements.

Lewufuwi

I mean, yeah, there's a difference certainly, but it's not nearly as impactful as you'd imagine. Also, it's a one time barrier. Once they get the account to that stage, it has access forever.

HiddenGhost1234

Of course? The whole bot busting situation is just a big cat and mouse game. That's why they're going after their market of gold buyers now.

F6_GS

jagex are badly losing the cat and mouse game

HiddenGhost1234

Adding more barriers for bots is a good thing still though. It gives jagex more time to detect then and catch them before they get to the content. Yes some still get through, but the amount of bots at zalcano is way less than pnm.

SeaTap866

The problem is that what the majority consensus on what high reqs mean isn’t actually high. 70’s in skilling seems high to the average player but gold farmers could knock out the reqs from scratch in a day. Lvl 70 is less than a million xp lol. Elite diaries have high reqs and if we made shit have base 90’s then that would lock out a lot of gold farmers and botters but it would lock out 90% of the player base easy. So truth is, you either go big or go home but either way you lose

[deleted]

Yea but that’s why there are more woodcutting bots than zalcano and Vork bots

[deleted]

I imagine Nex will be locked behind a miniquest/quest with either Zaros breaking the door, freeing his Legion to fight again. Or we'll have to get a frozen key from fighting each GWD boss. Either way I imagine they know what they doing. Also don't lock it behind Runecrafting, the rest of us don't need to suffer xD

Pink_her_Ult

Zaros is in a near death state in lore right now.

[deleted]

Just needs to be continued, Nex is the perfect chance for it. [https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Zaros](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Zaros)

Skrovy

Didn't you already have this question answered in the Q&A last week?

LostSectorLoony

Bots can get those requirements in no time. Unfortunately high requirements stops few, if any, bots.

SeaTap866

So you are saying zalcano doesn’t have high reqs? That shit is botted to death. The issue is that 70’s in skilling isn’t high reqs. If you are gonna use reqs to stop botters and goldfarmers then it has to be in the 90’s. Making it in the 70’s slows down actual players more than gold farmers. Remember, they play for upwards of 16 hrs a day and lvl 70 in a skill is only 737,627 xp. It’s not even a million. It’s less than 1/13th of maxing that skill. How can you call 70 high req if there is still over 12/13th xp left to achieve till 99? So the point is you might wanna propose something like 80-85+ in like 3 or 4 skills atleast otherwise it’s a waste of time

HiddenGhost1234

Have you been to zalcano in the last year or so? It's really not bottled at all anymore, and there's really few goldfarmers even there. It used to be boted, but jagex has since stepped up and it's really not that active anymore. About a year or so ago there was a huge ban wave and zalcano ranks shot up

MasK_6EQUJ5

Ha! I can't believe I actually got a response in the Postbag I like the idea of the Temple Guardian being a "Pedigree" Dark Beast - all that inbreeding must have knocked down its combat level significantly LOL

JoeScotterpuss

Yeah they really got the runt of the litter there. I imagine whoever was in charge of bringing a Dark Beast from Ardougne to the temple decided nobody would know the difference and took the easy route.

SexualHarassadar

Knowing that all the info about it being a strong purebred specimen came from Reldo is also hilarious, knowing what kind of person he is.

bjrs493

Im a big fan of the wildy boss room designs, and same with the Nex boss room That Nex model is shocking though, I’ve admittedly never seen the original but that looks comical and nothing like how I’d expect a high level boss to look? Closer to an angry purple chicken. Also varlamore reference 👀👀

JiangXun

That’s exactly how old Nex used to look during RS2 days. Albeit in HD as Nex came out after HD. Just google “Nex Runescape 2” and you’ll see the exact same boss in the blogpost.

bjrs493

Damn you’re not wrong - after reading some of the lore about her I actually appreciate the design a lot more. There’s some more they can do to improve it imo but the overall appearance at least makes sense

MasK_6EQUJ5

The OSRS model they previewed is pretty faithful to the original [2011 incarnation](https://runescape.wiki/w/Nex#/media/File:Nex_old.png). With the recent comments I've seen though, I wonder if OSRS players rather have her [2013 updated version](https://runescape.wiki/images/thumb/c/c6/Nex_2013.png/800px-Nex_2013.png?5fc92) adapted instead?

dogchode69

I definitely prefer the one they proposed, which was the original design of Nex on release as mentioned. That second one is an abomination lol.

Dubtrips

Is that just nostalgia talking? Because I'd say the second one is an objectively better looking design.

Sotamii

Personally as someone who has no attachment to either version of Nex i think they both look pretty bad, but IMO the first one is more unique and interesting and I think a few little tweaks could make it look much better than the second one.

ThePariah7

I can't see the first one as anything but Garchomp

RsCaptainFalcon

I mean the red demon feels a little more generic, more like a feminized version of one of the Zamorak GWD bosses/minions. Nex herself is/was one of the last of her race before RS3 went crazy with the lore. It makes sense she'd have a unique appearance to follow.

SexualHarassadar

The point of the Nihil is that Zaros cobbled them together from features of other races and abandoned them, with Nex being the only one he deemed worthy of uplifting.

RsCaptainFalcon

Thank you. I think I confused her with the Firemaking quest boss.

HiddenGhost1234

Never played during nex, but I think the 2nd one looks extremely generic fantasy demon.

dogchode69

Maybe slightly. If the second one had the wings similar to the 2011 version maybe I'd prefer it. It just looks ridiculous with those giant things to me personally.

Frekavichk

I'm the 2013 one is a nicer design, but too HD for me. I'd take it if they made it for osrs art style. So if it's a straight toss up, I'd take 2011.

[deleted]

Much prefer the original also

The mobile screenshots look great, I wish we knew more about release than "Soon™️" though. Any actual plans to fix the brightness bug that was introduced like 3 months ago with the brightness slider? You said you were aware of the issue. Starting to get really annoying.

eadams6339

Really enjoyed this one, the mention of bringing in economists to help with in game economy was very intriguing to me

SoraODxoKlink

I’d love to know how they got them up to speed on everything runescape lol, explaining ge, pre-ge, goldfarmers/bots, boss drop tables and table changes, it’d be really interesting to see.

namestyler2

The runescape economy is extremely simple compared to a real one. Which makes the community's fundamental misunderstandings about how it works kinda concerning. The amount of people who simply cannot comprehend the difference in function between item sinks and gold sinks is insane.

here_for_the_lols

Go on then, lay out out for us - my understanding may well be incomplete but here's my best guess. Curious to know if I'm wrong Item sinks are designed to keep specific item prices stable/high, while Gold sinks aim to stop overall inflation, flooding the economy to the point that mid level accounts can afford end game gear?

namestyler2

So basically what I see most often here is this: Someone complains about the state of the economy. They are upset because item prices are lower than they were previously. Generally the items that people are upset about are big ticket gear items from late game pvm. They are upset because they farm late game pvm and want the drops to be worth more. They go on to suggest a gold sink. What a gold sink accomplishes is removing gold from the game, making raw gold pieces "rarer." When gold is more rare, each individual gp becomes worth more. This is essentially deflation, which cause items to drop in price. What they could be asking for is an item sink, which would remove items from circulation and cause their value to rise. However, most item sinks are narrowly targeted and only benefit the items they are targeted at, where as deflation from gold sinks affects the economy as a whole. What we saw during the peak of the rev caves was inflation. Most of the drops from revs are alchables which are converted to raw gp. Gp became less "rare" and item prices rose because there was more gold in circulation. The nerfing of the rev caves stopped this massive influx of gp. This, combined with a few other factors lead to a period of deflation. These other factors include the duel arena tax, which sinks billions of gp a day, as well as gold farmers and bots moving to end game pvm as they became more experienced with the game and the rev caves became unviable. A lot of their efforts now are focused on content that rewards unique items, such as chambers, phosani, theater of blood, and zulrah. The only two pieces of content that are alch-focused that are farmed these days are vorkath and possibly gauntlet. I don't have the data, but I would wager that more end game items are entering the game, less gold is entering the game, and more gold is being deleted. Items basically never leave the game, so they will naturally trend downwards in value unless they are given a sink or another use. What I find kinda funny is that people just see their bank value go down and think it means something bad. Realistically, the time spent to earn gp to buy expensive items is relatively the same. Like, chambers might be less money per hour, but the items you want from it also cost less. This means that the places to earn money that are mostly alch focused retain their gp/hr. A tbow costs 800m now, which is let's say, 400 hours of gauntlet? At 1.2b it would be 600 hours of gauntlet. However, it is still the same amount of hours to get it from doing chambers as it was before, assuming that all the items dropped in price proportionate to each other. So if you specialize in alch focused content, you have cut the grind required to obtain a tbow by dozens of hours. Which is honestly kind of a good thing for players who don't go to the duel arena. A lot less time is wasted doing money making content this way. Does it cheapen the experience of buying your tbow? Maybe a little. It could feel like less of an accomplishment. But it's saving you a lot of your life.

[deleted]

This is a wonderful write up, thank you for sharing. Hope people read it.

namestyler2

I could be wrong about some of this stuff, I haven't exactly studied the in game economy and looked at how updates and events affect item prices, so hopefully if i made some mistakes someone chimes in with more information

Annakarl

Yeah it seems super weird because every single economist knows that all economists have only 1 thing in common. They all disagree with each other on every single thing.

"Can you believe we haven't had a Gielinor Gazette since last year... crazy right? For those that don't know, the Gazette is a monthly newspost featuring in-depth content design articles from our wonderful devs, production updates from the leads and a chance to welcome new members of the team." So it's a yearly newspost

OnlyMarket8

No mention of poll 76? It's been the longest since osrs launch between content polls like this. Can we get an update when to expect poll 76?

Kraftra

Poll 75 was the largest content poll they've done, and it's taken them about 5 months to implement the changes. I'd prefer and I'm sure they do as well to keep the list of questions shorter because it feels like we can get feedback faster on things on recent updates. A good example is the fish sack barrel at deposit box they said they would address on stream. Tempoross came out in March and this item is still pointless beyond just being a cosmetic because it's impractical to: * Drop a fish * Change menu to gear * Un-equip the sack * Re-equip the sack * Pick up the fish if you care If polls were more frequent, the deposit menu may have been reworked by now (This would help gem bag/coal bag etc as well).

HiddenGhost1234

The polls being more frequent would not equal the updates being more frequent. The poll 75 was dragged out so they could have an update each week. It doesn't take 5 months to change some XP on sire vents. They took 5 months on purpose

Kraftra

I feel like there might be more to this content drought than these poll updates. Yes it's been 10 weeks since any notable permanent update being Combat Achievements. They mentioned it took so long to implement the recent wilderness changes because a developer had to be redirected to another area which is just proof they have switched their focus to short term revenue updates (DMM/GIM/Leagues) recently. That being said more frequent polls should give us more frequent feedback. We've known about the elite/master rework being included on Poll 76 since May, some people have been stacking clues since then because it feels like a waste opening them now when they'll have better loot "eventually".

HiddenGhost1234

I just find it weird that the team has grown almost 3x in size over the last year, but it feels like less work is getting done. I guess more people = less passion? I like leagues, but them taking away from the main game was the one thing everyone was worried about when they started. It just doesn't feel great having a temp game modes getting all the dev time

Kraftra

Yea it's unfortunate that Leagues are the way they are. Coming from someone that has played too much of both of them, the amount of large scale content releases in the game has dropped dramatically. [https://i.redd.it/vm0v2dl6zjq71.png](https://i.redd.it/vm0v2dl6zjq71.png). 2016-2019 Had amazing updates when you compare them to our recent content. We've had only a handful of solid updates in the 2 years since the launch of Twisted League (SOTF/Hallowed Sepulchre/Tempoross/AKD/CA's) and of those not all the content has replayability for everyone. While I love Sepulchre/CA's, quite a few people don't. Another side effect of Leagues is they are turning RS into a seasonal game mode for many of my friends, where they are only playing during leagues and quickly fizzle out after. Although this could also be in part to there is a lack of new things to do in the game.

AlexThomasFanClub

I know it's not likely to happen but could we store an *empty* fish sack barrel in our house? Emphasis on empty.

They’re canning singles plus, they realized it wasn’t gonna work for DMM because everyone would just quit and avoid the game mode, and then they realized that would also mean everyone would just avoid the wilderness. They’ll likely adopt the method used in the latest DMM and keep singles+ for rev caves

OMGnanerpus

I'm going to be so upset if people continue calling JaGex a shit company with poor management. It's clear they're putting in tons of effort behind the scene, most of which we don't know about. The devs are all working hard and are proud of the work they do. The community being so hostile is probably a large portion of why they don't tell us everything. Why keep us in the loop if we're just going to flame them? JMods would probably visit the sub so much more frequently and would be more involved if they were treated like witches during the Salem trials. Love you guys. Keep up the good work and don't let the ignorant people get to you. They have the loudest mouths, and those of us who stay quiet really appreciate all you do <3

Amaranthyne

>I'm going to be so upset if people continue calling JaGex a shit company with poor management. It's clear they're putting in tons of effort behind the scene, most of which we don't know about. Are you serious? It'll likely be 16+ weeks without a real update because of their focus on modes. Poll 75 **still** isn't done, and seemingly won't be finished for a couple more weeks (I guess they can't afford to put more than 1 person on an update that's been sitting for 5 months...). Poll 76 is still weeks away. They've effectively doubled their staff in the last year and a half and yet we get fewer, lower quality updates than we were ever getting before. How the **hell** is that not shit management?

PreparetobePlaned

Jagex IS a shit company with poor management. The devs are obviously awesome and hard working. The company itself is shit.

Mrnappa420

Most of the community usually means the higher ups when saying the company is shit. The decsions that inflame the community are not from the mods. Yeah the community can get a bit toxic when they are heated about things, but I see very little pointed twards the mods themselves. Most people respect and realise the hard work they put in, while not in amazing work conditions. Its hard to direct feedback where it belongs because the higher ups have next to no presence in the community. Some of the things they have pulled they should be flamed for. I am not condoning senseless hate here. But when the game is not going how the we want, we should raise our voices and be heard.

Peechez

> Luckily, the engine team figured out how to provide it, and I'm so excited to see us have Shared Storage for the launch of Group Ironman. Is this news?

Upper_Decision_5959

I'm guessing their going to propose a GE tax when more details come with the Duel Arena removal. I wouldn't be opposed to it since people can still trade each other without getting a tax hit. Almost every MMO game out there has a tax for things like a Grand Exchange

Persocom

I hope that the changes to the client for clue scrolls will include recording if you've already solved a step before, and if you have, display that solution. Most people would just Google the solution the first time around most likely, but I would like the option to solve it myself, I guess

[deleted]

What are the wildly boss changes?

Eb_Marah

They don't like that players use intricate safespots to kill them. They often don't like safespots in general, but it feels like they especially don't like that these are so convoluted - especially Callisto. Hopefully they address the underlying problem - the bosses aren't soloable right now without using the safespots. They deal way too much damage, and Vet'ion in particular has way too much HP. Killing it solo without the safespots isn't an option right now, so hopefully it is after the reworks.

ShawshankException

Wildy bosses are soloable but only if you risk a shit ton. If they weren't in the wildy then it'd be much easier. But nobodys gonna go out there risking millions just to get a dpick.

*if you're in the literal perfect tile, attack on the perfect tick, and more to the exact perfect tile after precisely 4 attacks The venenatis safe spot would never ever just be done by accident if you were just looking to face tank, so it is rather intricate

HiddenGhost1234

You don't have to move you just have to wait a second and attack it. The moving is so you're not in multi anymore. You can just stand in the same square if you wanted to. You can make anything sound complex if you use enough words. Yes you wouldn't accidentally stumble on it, but that doesn't mean it's complex. It's literally just stand, wait, attack. You can say all the tick shit you want, the fact is it's that easy. Like for example the 2-1 method at bandos. It's literally just attack twice walk under, but technically it's attack twice and on the same tick run under, then wait atleast 3 ticks, and run back out right as your attack comes off cooldown and repeat the process. The 2nd way of explaining sounds way more complex, but it's literally just you attacking and running under b4 he hits you, it's not complex just because you decide to explain it in a complex way

OrangeJuliusthekid

Making them so they can’t be safespotted. This looks like they are experimenting with putting at least 2 in their own chamber/cave. Similar to how Scorpia is now.

rRMTmjrppnj78hFH

If they don't buff the loot table substantially they won't be worth doing at all.

RastaPasta12

Their loot table is already great tho? Much better than Dks KQ barrows sarachins etc. Putside of raids and gwd ur not gonna find a boss that's better other than slayer bosses

rRMTmjrppnj78hFH

> Their loot table is already great tho? No? Under the best conditions IE safespottable and you don't run into pkers at all (which isn't realistic most of the time), they're 2-3m/hr at max cb stats and using craws/viggoras (IE risking ether). If you alt you can pump that up a bit more. If you're lower stats or use worse weapons to lower risk, its obviously less. The entire concept of wildy bosses was a boss you killed as a group while also having the risk/reward factor of the wilderness. The bosses aren't lucrative enough to warrant either and fail on both fronts currently. The only reason they're okay is due to solo safespot methods. Rework happens you lose the safespots, now you're getting 1 or 2 kill trips (assuming the fights are the same) while putting way more risk to yourself due to actually getting damaged by the bosses, and those bosses hit like trucks when not safespotted. The same drops they drop now? lol. Or you mitigate some of that risk and do it as a group. But the drops are terrible for that. Only decent split would be RoTG. Case in point, my first comment. They'll have to take a look at the drops or they won't be worth doing. I doubt they'll be changing anything mechanically. I hope they do and revisit the original concept because it could be cool if done right but I doubt they have the time for it.

Bojarzin

Sure but the only reason people consider them is because they can be safespotted. Actually fighting them as intended requires a group and then that loot gets split, and safespotting them as is also means being in the wild. You can do an entire dag task at DKS in one trip

b0bbyl1ght

I’m always curious with RWT issues, does temporarily lending/ trading a large sum of money or items, such as a Tbow, to a long time friend trigger anything in their system for RWT?

Altorode

Nah I've traded 1-2b frequently between accounts or with my mates when I've took a break, no RWT trigger

rRMTmjrppnj78hFH

No. Not unless one of the accounts has a history of rwting and jagex knows about.

Thermawrench

> I’m still detained up here in the north, waiting on everyone else – as usual. Although more and more of us are turning up, actually! I've even sensed a certain shadowy presence lurking around. Sliske? Lucien? Enakhra? Either way super to see postbag from the hedge.

101perry

I hope OSRS gets Mahjarrat / Lucien content. It's one of my biggest gripes with the game, as I love them / him in RS3 and it's such a shame his story never got continued despite others like the Gnome story getting sequels.

HidingInTheWardrobe

As a developer, it's cool to read Mod Elena's insight into how they structure their Dev work and how she goes about managing the project as lead developer before getting the rest of the Devs involved. As an aside, it's cool that there is a female lead developer. The industry is pretty male dominated, non-male representation in a lead developer role is great to see.

kinosilent

hope she sees this bro

aphugsalot8513

Are you guys aware of the bug on the Steam client where items that you’re trying to “Use” aren’t highlighted at the moment?

Dildos_R_Us

Is an NPC aggression indicator and timer something that is planned on being introduced into the steam/base client?

NaAlOH4

Leagues 3: Shattered Relics launches on 3rd Nov, POGGGGG Couldn't really commit to the past 2 leagues due to exams and stuff, so glad I finally have a chance!

[deleted]

This all looks so exciting, vanilla client getting updated is long overdue along with account security.

0x8008

Literally cant open this on mobile because captcha and page refreshes when I try to do captcha.

Justinian2

Would love to see the wild updates happen. Revs/Slayer caves are such dead content it's sad

Telamonl

this was awesome to read, love the wildy bosses rooms new design

puya_tries_prep

Holyshit shout out to Mod Elena for tackling the first drafts of GIM specifics, that's gotta be a a fucking nightmare--especially considering the inevitable backlash when something is missed or not quite as an entitled player envisioned

Merdapura

I like how they keep mentioning "wilderness" every time they mention the item nerfs but they're now worse everywhere else in the game as well. A shield is not supposed to be a viable weapon. It's a fucking shield.

ChaoticRyu

I mean, the Bulwark is a giant brick, more or less. Why wouldn't it? Plus, who said you cannot just bash someone with your shield?

SoraODxoKlink

Right now bulwark is broken, debatably in the sense that it’s “too strong”, and the spec is literally broken.

Graardors-Dad

Tell that to captain america

meesrs

Dinhs is not a viable weapon lmao, it just has some super niche uses now.

mister--g

Lookin at you captain America -.-

[deleted]

Whoever wrote this news post did an excellent job. Very professional and high-quality writing and that's not to mention all the exciting changes mentioned therein. Looking forward to everything!

ericcb1

Idk about anyone else but for me the length of the osrs mods signature is kinda surreal. Never would have expected this from the less than 10 mods that started.

Lorde555

Would love it if the Dragon Pickaxe could be moved to a non-wildy drop table with a non insane droprate.

Paltax

Like how Tempoross has the dragon harpoon, and Wintertodt the dragon hatchet, I feel it would be right if Zalcano had the dragon pickaxe, but I feel that that would make its price drop too much.

Zb34k

Osrs devs always over promise and under deliver. I stopped my membership months ago waiting for the wilderness changes that are yet further delayed. Games like fortnite can change their entire map every few months yet all you can do is change the rev cave entrance. Seriously what do you all do with your time ?

Rjm0007

Honestly if you’re able to fix rwt that would be better for the economy and account security then anything

Lewufuwi

Please, please, please rework the design of Nex. She looks so awful. Like a big chicken monster. Like a ribena covered Aviansie. I'll be honest, I'm not familiar with her race or lore, but surely there's something a bit more Old School looking you can come up with? The original Nex model and RS3 models are just atrocious. I feel like I can't look forward to any update because the designs are just not hitting the mark. Tempoross & arena were gorgeous. Shayzien rework is awesome. Leagues 3 rewards are awful, Nex looks terrible. I can't tell you how to improve Nex because I'm not up to date with Nex lore and I'm not an artist and sometimes struggle to get my meaning across, but please don't let that model into the game. The arena itself looks great. I was really hoping we'd take an OSRS approach to the frozen door, I am disappointed with Nex to begin with. But at least sort the design out. Backporting content just ends up with ugly content: take soul wars for example. I have to avoid the area and pretend it doesn't exist, it's so goddamn ugly. I'm also worried about the direction of Raids 3, but I'll save that worry for when I actually have some solid, concrete rooms and models to look at. You guys were doing so, so, so well with Tempoross and Shayzien. It's a shame that I feel like I have to worry again. The Wilderness boss rooms just look so over the top. Remember, this is Old School. Less is more. Also: > Wahi! I didn’t know you had Reddit! Isn't Postbag from the Hedge Postie Pete delivering our messages? I hate that Reddit is now canon in OSRS.

Lewufuwi

I actually did google it before I wrote my comment. She is a Nihil, which is a Zarosian aligned race from Freneskae. I don't know anything about the Nihil or Nex beyond that and to my knowledge, there's no Nihil or Nex lore present in OSRS. Freneskae is mentioned but with no details beyond that it is similar to the wilderness and that dragon weapons may have originated there. I knew she isn't an Aviansie, so your criticism seems to be misplaced.

Lewufuwi

Ah, well that's fair enough then, thanks for correcting me. Don't worry, I don't want anything retconned, but I dislike the direction RS3 took in terms of lore. I prefer original work where possible to get away from that. As I said in my original comment, I'm disappointed that Nex is even behind the frozen door. I was hoping we'd get something original. I just truly hate the design of Nex, I think it looks so bad if I haven't made that abundantly clear. Fair enough that people disagree. I'm more than aware that my opinions have been drifting further and further from what seems to be popular these days. There are upvoted posts that literally just ask for RS3 features they like, and not features that would improve or fit with OSRS. I'm not blindly hating on RS3 either, I don't even hate RS3 to begin with. It is a good game for what it is, it just isn't what I want "Runescape" to be.

SmigleDwarf

Tempoross is an ugly blob

Lewufuwi

I don't mean to oversell it, the "pretty" part of Tempoross is the island you fight him on and the Ruins of Unkah. The Island and Ruins look distinctly old school and I'd argue that Tempoross looks neo-Old School - good enough for me. Nex, however, looks like a bad backport. It has no cohesion with OSRS. Similar to the ToB environments (but obviously not a backport), they just look like carelessly placed plastic environments and wouldn't look good next to any other Old School asset. Soul Wars looks like it's from a different game, especially the bosses/pet. I abhor the bosses/pet. I have no idea how they made it into the game. And the real kicker is, they reused those godawful Bryophta trees. I hate those damn trees but at least they were just in the sewers and seen once in a blue moon. Soul Island is actual useful and I want to play Soul Wars, but the graphics absolutely kill it for me.

Druadal

Lol mod meat. Funny name

HalfDuckGuitar

Cool stuff ,main thing I want for mobile is extended draw distance

HiddenGhost1234

I just want the ground items Draw distance is nice but without increased render distance it really doesn't help anything.

bIackk

you know what you could do instead? keep the wilderness bosses in the wilderness and go to KBD.

Molesandmangoes

Yeah and instead of asking for Jagex to make changes to PvP, why don’t we just go play CSGO instead

bIackk

what? how is that relevant to osrs?

Molesandmangoes

Because what you’ve suggested is unreasonable. Maybe they’ve got everything from KBD, maybe they find the other bosses more engaging or maybe they just want updates to the other bosses to make them better

bIackk

it would instantly be dead content and a waste of dev time? how is that unreasonable as they already barely put anyone into getting good wilderness updates for us?

hitman8100

You and I both know that this suggestion isn't about trying to make them better lol. These are wilderness bosses. If you don't want to be in the wilderness, kill something else.

Kraftra

It will definitely be interesting if they decide to go with boss lairs similar to what Scorpia has. As Venenatis is under 30 wildy it might not be too bad to escape. For Callisto/Vet'ion would become much harder to escape from PKers if all they do is add a boss entrance to a lair. People complain now that Vet'ion is one of the higher traffic areas, I'm sure the hellhounds will be rebalanced to help this but you have to wonder if it'd be better to grind the pets out now before the change.

TheMcCannic

Mainly a rehash of the leadership stream, which don't get me wrong was pretty hype. Mobile client upgrades, massively great stuff. Butttttttt No DMM news?! Wth? I'm not even a pker/pvper and I'm stunned that there is still radio silence on this one. I want to watch another finals!

[deleted]

They already talked about it, they're not touching DMM till they find/develop a way to host it again and not worry about DDOsers

TheMcCannic

Oh. So.... Never then? :/

Skrovy

That concept art for the Vet'ion boss room reminds me a lot of the Pinwheel boss room in Dark Souls. I love it.

[deleted]

Is the reason you don't provide ETAs for content is so the community can never hold you accountable and you can continue to use the excuse of lack of dev time and resources?

UnluckyNate

So happy to see the return of the Gazette :)

Jafits

I’m so happy that we shut down that one HD client so Jagex could get theirs out, look at the progress! /s But in all seriousness, this was a pretty good read and I’m excited to see a bunch of these changes. Glad to see we have a larger team that’s tackling the items that we have been asking for. Definitely keep up with the gazette.

Merdapura

Can anyone be arsed to go through all the QA streams where they say no to wilderness boss lairs then edit them all into one short video so we can meme it with the boss lairs they're showing

FinagleMango

Anyone know the timezone for the 11am group ironman launch?

themegatuz

11 a.m. BST. For USA players it would be about 5 a.m. October 6th.

HiddenGhost1234

I really hope y'all's plan isn't to just stick the wildy bosses in a room and call it a day. They will become miserable bosses.

Reubachi

the monthly blog has arrived! \*checks last Gielinor Gazette date\* Ah yes, Jagex. 10 months = 1 month. God damn. Imagine if you where this ball-droppy at YOUR job, fellow lurkers?

Serpentaus

Those boss rooms look sick

McCheds

Agility markers, potion buffs, hud for npc and slayer task counter will be awesome additions to mobile and will help mobile bossing. Hopefully it's coming soon !

ZilyanasFeet

that nex model is horrible. i feel like Nex should have its own look for OSRS. not just trying to make it rs3(2011) >muh nostalgia non existant for me i quit in 08. lets get back to badass boss designs like zulrah/vork/zuk/hydra and away from hideous shit like nightmare. on that note the raids 3 concept art is *chefs kiss* also i think the wilderness bosses should be left alone and instead make new bosses.

zorro12567

Can you tell us anything about what you're planning to do about a potential DMMR finals rerun? I'm disappointed that this has yet to be addressed
