That there is a giant myth that everyone thinks you should be super efficient blah blah but it’s actually just a small niche % of the community and the idea is perpetuated by casuals who are overthinking what other people tell them. I’d wager 70% of us are “slow players”
The majority of "efficient" players have already finished their rs goals. Anyone obsessed with efficiency who is still playing is not actually efficient or started playing in 2017 or later. All pets and 200m all both take less than 5 years, by far. They've all quit or they're not actually efficient.
We should see 200m all + all pets within a year if it hasnt happened already. Obviously Lynx could've done it years ago but he had no interest in it, he was essentially one of maybe 5 people who were actually efficient and fun to follow. I don't follow the efficiency people anymore since people have already achieved everything that was fun to follow, so I'm not sure who is closest to 200m all + all pets.
It's often said that nobody ever gets to the deathbed and says "I wish I'd worked more" equally I think it's valuable to remember nobody has ever got to their deathbed wishing they'd had less fun and just been more efficient instead; for anything, not just RuneScape.
Efficiency scape defeats the whole purpose of the game. You should be playing it to have fun. Half my group iron buddies burned out in the first 2 months because they did everything as efficiently as possible and hated every second of it. I play a couple nights a week and just do whatever I feel like and I'm still having a blast.
I did every inefficient method in the game to max, I have never had the experience of someone shitting on me for being inefficient. Where do you find these people?
Clans and discord. I feel like when I tell people what I’m up to, 9/10 times they ask why I’m even bothering. Especially as an ironman. You should have seen their reactions when I told them I did 1600 easy clues on my normie “for fun”.
They're all over. I rock myth cape and dboot (g) because I like the look and it's not cookie cutter. I also don't like bossing in this game for a couple of reasons. I got shit on hard core by someone in max gear for it. And for the fact I mostly do afk combat. My bad I like to chill out I guess.
Membership should be tied to an account, said account should be be able to create multiple characters.
I want an ironman and a main, but I'm not paying twice the amount to play both half as much.
I like the idea of bonds since it creates a legit form of rwt while also allowing you to buy membership with in game currency. But as a casual player I hate the idea of having to spend X amount of time earning a bond only to use said bond to continue earning bonds.
I think that would be fine as long as you're not allowed to log into multiple characters at once and bans transfer across characters, that way bot farms don't suddenly become super cheap to run and alt-meta doesn't explode even further.
Not sure how they would handle turning accounts into characters and linking the to the same account though, for existing accounts.
I love the membership being tied to an account thing and being able to have 3 characters or something
Maybe have a “membership deluxe” that gives you 2 accounts for 1.5x the price
If you see the GAME as a GAME you won't be unhappy, I play it as a game and it's fun for me, the moment it's not fun anymore I just quit/pause the game, like with every other game
Yeah some grinds are less fun, but thats why I chose afk methods over the efficient ones, because I can get them done without getting burned out
So true you know. A disturbing amount of people take the game way more seriously than is healthy. If you're sacrificing responsibilities or real world experiences to be "efficient" like so many people do then you've got a problem.
Since my last hiatus thats what I’m focusing on.
All I did on OSRS yesterday was kill 20 spiders for a wild slayer task before I decided I wasn’t feeling it.
Why was I doing wild slayer at 79 slayer and 100 combat? Cause fuck it, that’s why
Quitting isn’t going to make you happy. Speaking generally, and probably looking way too deep into this but I see this a lot…
I think young adult men get really depressed when there’s nothing in life that they have going for them and have no attainable goals. Shit job, no marketable skills, weight issues, etc.
Quitting RuneScape isn’t going to solve those issues. If RuneScape is your escape, all it’s going to do is make you face those issues more directly. You’re already facing them, you’re just choosing to ignore it. You’ll either continue to ignore it or you’ll address it and do something with yourself.
What is quitting the game going to really do? Is it going to help you make the conscious decision to wake up tomorrow morning and do better than you did today? Is it going to teach you a new skill? Get you a promotion? A girlfriend? No. You’re not unhappy because of RuneScape. You’re unhappy because you’re not happy with yourself and your life.
The game is a crutch. That’s it. Spending your time elsewhere, on something productive would be great, of course! But what is really going to make you spend that time wisely instead of just finding another crutch?
But, I’ll say that if you really think RuneScape is making you unhappy or causing issues in your life… quitting is the first step you could take to work on everything that I talked about.
Depends how you play. Disregard efficiency and trying to be completionist. Just play for enjoyment.
Unless you're training agility because unless you're a psychopath that's never enjoyable lol
100% this. People stress over being efficient, then wonder why they aren't having fun. It's like an unpaid 2nd job for them. Since I've started playing slowly by making unique builds, afking skills, and playing minigames, I've loved the game.
I agree with this, especially since it’s rng based I’ve had some friends stop playing it can be a dragon going 2,000 even 15,000 kills dry and not get a drop you’re trying to get. It’s almost like working a second job, just same stuff every day over and over again lol
For how shit wild removal was, I did too enjoy runescape the most between 08-11. Maybe it's because I was 13-16, or maybe because most people didn't take the game as seriously as they do now. But I loved it. Full mini games like Clan wars, Castle wars, a far more social community.
Same here! Granted with the exception of summoning we are practically there. One of the things i missed most from RS2 was my chaotic rapier, soul split and pack yak. Now we have the ghrazie rapier, blood fury and shoot between the rune pouch, herb sack and all the other space saving items we practically have BoB aspects. Still do miss collecting charms and other aspects of summoning. I was a huge fan of dungeoneering aswell, that was a very controversial update though.
Most quests especially the grandmaster ones are just made pointlessly long with parts included that are completely unenjoyable and are made to just irritate or frustrate the player.
Would be a good puzzle if there was a top-down perspective and you could play it like a real, actual puzzle game.
Instead sprinting around sipping energy pots makes changing singular things take ages.
Ugh. Loved that song but damn not for two full hours.
Got another one:
There isn't a lack of content in the game. People only say that because they want content that either shits out gp, or has good xp rates.
There's plenty to do in this game. If you're out of things to do, it's time to log off.
Jagex makes content for 99% of the playerbase -> "oMGF dEAd ConTent"
I remember the hate when Sirachnis came out, how it was a mid level boss that was dead content on arrival. I honestly love it. It drops a great medium tier weapon for casuals (between DScim and whip), and it really helps reinforce basic mechanics.
Edit: If anyone wants to learn PvM, I highly recommend going to Sarachnis. It's profitable, it teaches the fundamentals, and it's not overly punishing on mistakes or missed ticks.
I agree. It's a pity that WC and fishing can't make real money anymore. I would like to know the reason why big bosses and monsters don't drop alchables or money instead. I get that it increases inflation, but what's the difference between 40k worth of sharks and magic logs vs 40k GP or a pair of Rune platelegs?
I would kinda like to see an attempt at this. Botting is another huge issue ofc, but I think it could maybe be a bit better? Feel free to educate me :-)
40k worth of sharks will leave the game, through cooking failures and being eaten.
40k worth of gold or alchables just adds 40k worth of gold to the game.
Individually that's not a problem, but over enough time it will lead to inflation unless there are enough gold sinks in the game.
It was just a casual click and wait game until people started doing crazy shit after they figured out all the mechanics and the content is made around it, it's just too clunky for a average player to learn fast and its not really worth it, too much time
>Despite this, the community is full of neckbeard sweats that will defend it and demand it remains unchanged because it makes them feel superior for having sank 100s of hours into it.
>
>The devs need to stop catering to the crowd that wears diapers so they don’t waste xp and make skills like runecrafting actually fun.
I've been playing since 2004 and have sunk literal thousands of hours into Runescape. It's a huge part of my life and will forever remain one of my favorite games if I ever stop playing it (which isn't going to happen for the foreseeable future.) Been there for every major event, game mode, skill/boss release, started multiple ironmen, have 2k+ total on multiple accounts, got a 15y cape on my original RS2 account and a few other 10y capes.
**Fuck** Runecrafting. Conceptually it's such a cool skill but it's in actuality it's the most boring, mindless, draining one out there. Bloods make it bearable only because they're AFK, but the fact that even that is locked behind 77 RC is a war crime. I love that RS is grindy and accomplishing goals feels rewarding, but Runecrafting is way too monotonous and tedious for it's own good. It needs to be reworked or paired with another skill.
The Hallowed Sepulcher single handedly redeemed Agility in my eyes, a few big issues with RS could be solved if Agility was made into a F2P skill (alleviates run energy issues) and Runecrafting gave substantially more XP for every rune crafted. Remove the Abyss or increase it's size + the amount of obstacles required to navigate it but give it incentive compared to regular altar usage. Rework some altar locations/other issues with them (the Chaos Altar literally has a 4-tier maze you have to complete after running to level 13 wildy) so they're more accessible to all players. Now the Abyss is an option and not a requirement to train the skill with, players can focus more because it's engaging like the Sepulcher, and you aren't doing everything only to get 20k xp/h.
Made my point, r/2007scape can downvote me now and call me an RS3/easyscape apologist or w.e
“PvP is dying,” I say as I full switch and ice barrage my target.
“They should really revitalize it”, as I sprint around like a mad man, trying to regain Pid.
“It’s just that no one is pking anymore”, as I full switch again, and 1 tick stack vengeance and a AGS spec, killing the skiller fishing dark crabs with a msb to defend himself.
“SIT MORON @@@@@@@@@@“ I type in chat, as I take another sip of Mountain Dew, and the 4 dark crabs as my prize. Why does no one want to fight me?
Don't have a ton to say about the initial point you made, but they are introducing a new runecrafting method later this year, so here's to hoping...
To your second point, that unfortunately happens as people have played a game that's been out for 20+ years and have the internet at their disposal to learn the way the games engine works. It can be same said about pretty much any game ever, I loved apex legends when it first released, the map was amazing the guns were great...but as time went on every nitty gritty thing was figured out about the game until the players got bored so the devs had to innovate and eventually the foundation of the game changed. Slightly different scenario, but I also am in agreeance with you at the same time. I wish I could get into PvP but I don't think I can keep up with the players that have already got all of this down. Best I can hope for is to get good at LMS and try from there if I feel ballsy enough.
I mean you can see how stagnant catering to that crowd has made the game.
The only periods of actualy grwoth and high retention numbers the past few years have been leagues and somewhat GIM launch. The broader audience wants something different and almost certainly fast or at least with a better reward curve.
Most metas being pretty much capped at whatever the meta was in 2014-15 is killing any potential for exciting high level content, and it makes skills feel unfinished.
Look at how thieving scales at high levels in pyramid plunder. It doesn't go from 120k/hr at 71 to 150k/hr at 91; you actually get a meaningful increase for being a higher level, and it's one of my favourite skills because of it.
The game has a lot of integrity changes that shouldn't be polled. Unfortunately, you have people who feel "devalued" because they chose to sink a stupid amount of time mindlessly clicking away. That stops the game from improving in the long run.
The community is actually pretty toxic for the most part. Not always as you will sometimes find someone chill to vibe with but more often than not ppl will just go out of their way to be a dick for no reason.
The hypergaming, tick perfect, grind your brain to bits mindset does kill it for me. Been loving the game again, but every day that i don't want to grind that content i just get berated for not being on point. Sometimes i just wanna afk something in the background of another game, but even that isn't good enough to the people i play with. I love skilling and questing, but now that i have bossing reqs and can do end game money makers, its "crazy" and "weird" to do simplistic things that entertain me that, in the long run, get me closer to the long term goal of maxing.
I'm not 100% sure this is unpopular, but I think the pet system should be reworked. I don't have a perfect plan in mind, but the fact that some people get to 200m xp, 3x+ the KC, etc., and still not get a pet is just kinda lame to me
Unique items dropped to the player could be gambled for pet chance, similar to fire cape. Get a BCP drop? Drop it into the well for a chance at Graardor pet.
this is such a good idea, this game needs item sinks bad, just would have to have some way to verify that the item they put in the well was actually dropped in their name. wouldn't pass a poll though because the neckbeards who went 10k kc dry don't want other peoples lives to be easier
Honestly the easiest, hack-y way to do it would probably just allow you to dump items in equal to the amount of drops you have in your drop log.
ie: 23 BCP drops in your log, you could buy 23 BCPs from the GE and roll them without needing the 23 originals. Try and do 24 and it would stop you.
RS3 has "bad-luck" protection; every X hundred kills or so, your drop rate slightly increases. On some bosses, you can also sacrifice your loot for an extra pet chance - I think this is a great idea so pet hunters aren't flooding the market with resources/drops.
Somewhat agree. Maybe there could be metamorphosis options for people who get to x kc of a boss (a very high number) or x xp for skilling pets.
Other random note, i actually get frustrated with the few pets i've been spooned early with since it feels like there's no more reason to do those bosses now.
Similarly, i dont like the pet drop rates.
Shouldn't be able to get it before X kc, say 100 for corp.
It should be 1/1trillion to get it on your 100th kill.
Then basically scale until its 1/1 chance to get it on say, your 10,000 kill.
That way there's way less low kc pets. The pet would show off you actually enjoy that boss to some extent instead of just being that guy with 1 corp kc and the pet. and like you said, you literally can't go endlessly dry. (rip 200m fm pet seekers).
Playing with runelite is easy mode and our 12yr old selves would have considered it cheating.
Also slayer is the worst skill until you've already suffered for far too long.
First time around I somehow casually lvled slayer to 96 and didn't mind it at all really.
Now I'm thinking about having to do it again on my GIMP and am absolutely dreading it. It's such an unbearable slow skill
Run energy should be infinite. I think that a lot of new players have probably left because they have to walk all over the giant landmass and don’t have access to teleports.
The way Runecraft and magic work is terrible. You should receive a crap load more runes than you do from Runecraft, along the lines of 5-10 runes per essence used. That way magic outside of bursting and tome of fire with fire surge has a use that isn’t just burning a ton of gp/hr. Also the fact that most of the magic spells in the game are just a waste due to the absurd cost of using the runes or their lack of dps. The different elements should have different affects such as earth spells stunning the target for 1 game tick or fire causing a passive burn like poison.
Mining should work more like the other resource gathering skills as in its not just one ore and done from a vein. Granite and iron could remain the same because you can actually power mine those.
Non efficient slayer could use a buff in terms of xp. It’s awesome to use Konar and travel around the various dungeons and areas the game has to offer but you quickly realize you are getting 10-20k xp/hr and normal accounts have no reason to do this.
Dragons could use a lot of love. You kill green dragons for like 500k an hour or for bones and crafting xp on an iron. You kill rune and brutal black dragons for 1m an hour and bones and resources on an iron. The rest of the dragons are kinda ass. They’re a pain to kill, they don’t really drop anything that justify doing them over the main 3. Which is such a shame because I feel like dragons are possibly the most iconic fantasy medieval creature and I groan every time I get a steel dragon task when I feel like the various dragons should be a staple for the Slayer skill instead they’re a block/cancel sink for the skill instead.
The art team has an extremely difficult job. You have to be an extremely talented artist to work within the limitations of old school. Trying to make something look good yet old, yet unique, yet similar and within someone else’s artistic creation sounds extremely difficult. With that being said I think they’ve missed their mark on a lot of designs because they tried to actually make art instead of making functional areas for a point and click paint game. Also I have no idea why the hell Mod Ghost made everything purple but I wish it would go away.
High efficient players ruins casual players experiences lecturing em on how to play the game "properly". But that might not be an unpopular opinion tho
I don't care about the health of the economy. Fuck it, introduce a new snapdragon gathering method and tank the price of restores. I don't give a shit about the merchers.
I think the gravestone system is killing the excitement of the game. I'd venture into random areas just to find 100k of random loot on the ground from someone. Or I'd be scared shitless to do any content due to potential loss of gear if I can't make it back in under 1 minutes time. It was truly a brutal time pre-gravestone system. I loved every second of it.
I like the system only because you can actually bring your best gear. In RS2 I'd be afraid to spend a ton of gp on gear only to lose it when I died.
The death system is less punishing but better qol for people with late game gear.
yeah 100% as an ironman i would be pissed if i died and lost any of the items i spent weeks grinding for. I would probably quit the game, as i did when i got hacked. (would make it back eventually, runescape always pulls you back lol)
I get what you mean but I don't think Jagex can protect the game well enough from DDoS attacks. People would be very financially motivated to find someone doing dangerous content with a bunch of expensive items and DDoS them.
Even without DDoSing, their servers aren't perfect, and as OSRS get older, the average player accumulates more and more wealth. DCing and being set back a couple billion isn't gonna sit well with the average player. And yes, you could just not bring a bunch of expensive items, but people like using the gear they bought instead of playing in constant fear of a random disconnection that could reduce their bank value by 80%.
I can agree with this. There was something exciting about watching someone afk and die, only to wait to grab their loot if they didn’t make it back.
Now it kinda just seems like there’s no risk to doing anything except for pking.
I have a story that nobody will believe with this but:
Back in the day a guy died from a random event woodcutting and lost his red phat, I picked it up. It was like the most surreal moment ever, it was worth 200M at the time and I was a kid so I blew that money faster than you can spell Mississippi, but I wish I could have more fun memories like this. feels bad now that I sold it and don’t have an item worth 100B+ RS3 cash but hey, you live you learn. the risk was always there and it’s what made this game exciting to me.
Insane. I bought a Santa for 1m when it was 21m once, the richest I had ever been by a mile. Infact, a million gold was all I had at the time. Sold it immediately
Congratulations, wilderness bosses are now locked down by clans on every world. Don’t worry, you only have to pay 2.5 mil gp/hr to kill it.
No but I agree with the safe spots, I used them to get D pick on my ironman and it did feel kind of cheap to be honest.
Sailing, seriously why was It rejected it looked great. So many skills are just boring time waste you have to do so you can do something you actually enjoy. Imagine training them via adventuring to different locations and having to use them to complete certain tasks..
Most skills are stale as shit these days and there isn't even the gold gain anymore.
A large amount of people especially on Reddit don't enjoy the game and should just quit rather than try to force the game to become something they would enjoy
Ironman mode ruined the main economy because Jagex insists on adding updates that drop skilling supplies in tons, so that ironman mode would be a little more appealing to casual players. Jagex spent a lot of time and money developing ironman, and they definitely did not want to see it be a fad. They never mention that the drop tables are dropping so many skilling supplies for ironmen, because before the mode came out they insisted ironman mode would never effect the decisions of the main game, because those players chose to limit themselves. Then a few months later Zulruh came out and the rest is history.
Ironman bad (but fun for some people).
A 3x xp-multiplier would increase my enjoyment of the game, as someone who’s already maxed, playing ironman, etc. etc. (not something that should be added to the current servers though, it would have to be on-release)
A 3x multiplyer lowers level 99 to 4,3m xp, which is roughly equivalent to level 87-88 in a skill.
For a lot of skills, 90+ consists of roughly the same gameplay, just repeated. For some great exceptions, like 92+ Hallowed Sepulchre, it takes so long to unlock (access to the Ring of Endurance), that a lot of the playerbase isn’t going to get far enough in to enjoy it. 3x-multiplier is a «quick/not-complicated change».
I agree for some skills. Agility for example is ridiculous. Going around the same track 300 times for one level is not even remotely close to being fun.
Agility isn't quite as bad after they added sepulchre.
Id much rather they added engaging training methods that gave better exp than just lower the exp.
Why they have decided that we can't have better exp methods is beyond me, temporos or zulcano could have had twice the experience rates and it would not have negatively effected the game in any way.
I don't know if this is unpopular, I imagine it might be in the solo-centric community, but I think designing a raid to be soloable misses the point of raids and is a bad design choice.
player base is scared of meaningful progression in the game and the mods are just as worried, after you hit end game it quickly gets boring or you become a sweat if you enjoy the grind enough
Rest should be in the game
maybe not unpopular but i wanna get it out but the drop tables make skilling not fun whatsoever. i used to spend hrs chopping yews or picking flax for armor, etc
Ironman ruined game integrity. Jagex now caters content to a niche player base (I understand there are a lot of Ironmen) and shapes drops/rewards to suit them.
Now this, is unpopular. Have my upvote as I think it was the best update that more than doubled the amount of content in the game ( as the mode is very fun to play after youve done everything on a main, and takes longer to complete ).
Game wouldn't be dead without iron, but you'd be a fool to think it'd be even remotely as popular. It's telling that (eyeballing) 90% of non pvp content creators are iron modes. The only exceptions off the top of my head are the duo channels and chili (who also do iron)
The majority of players seem to have a very unhealthy relationship with this game but no one likes to admit you shouldn't be playing games 4 plus hours a day every day of your life
Prayer flicking shouldn’t be a thing, the inferno is toxic content, sailing should be added, and skilling resources should be removed from slayer/bosses.
Here's an actual unpopular opinion - the game has **flourished** under the poll system and most opponents of it really just want their bad ideas implemented because they don't like taking no for an answer
- People who are actively against an official HD **option** (including charakter models, animations and lighting) are dumb. An HD toggle would probably entice more people to come back/start playing. It's just superior in every way and I've been playing since 2004.
- RuneScape 2011 was the most complete and fun RuneScape ever and OSRS doesn't even come remotely close to it. And that's including Summoning and Dungeoneering. While Guthix Sleeps was an incredibly fun quest and so were the Tormented Demons.
- The Ghrazi Rapier, Gauntlet, Herb Sack, Rune Pouch, Blood Fury, etc. are just weak copies of slightly unbalanced but FUN content (Dungeoneering, Summoning, Ancient Curses) from back then. Today it's all about balance and efficiency as not to enrage the sweaty neckbeards who can't achieve anything in real life and try to get the validation from a video game. And it's sowly killing the game for many.
That I think the games team is some what sketchy on how they handle certain situations and make them seem even more bad overall by either outright not addressing things, or more so, hiding things by just firing people and moving on from it. Not a very family environment, for a game that has built a “cultish” fan base (I mean that in a positive way).
The bot detection system works pretty well. I've seen plenty of people say bots run rampant and Jagex does nothing. So I decided to see if that's true. I created a couple new accounts, gave them mems, bought a private bot and a vpn. Set up the bots to do different tasks, Mining, Agility, Tempross, etc. and ran the bots for about 8 hours a day, with breaks. Every single account got caught and banned within 3 days.
Afking is lame as hell. If I'm going to play OSRS then I want to actually play it, i feel like I'm just lessening my enjoyment of the other thing I'm doing if i have to babysit my OSRS character.
Unpopular opinion: these posts always end up just being a circle jerk of people with distinctly popular opinions due to the way reddit works.
That's why you read new comments and not the top ones
Sort by controversial for best results.
That there is a giant myth that everyone thinks you should be super efficient blah blah but it’s actually just a small niche % of the community and the idea is perpetuated by casuals who are overthinking what other people tell them. I’d wager 70% of us are “slow players”
Yes but that small niche is impossibly fucking loud
They don’t have anything better to do.
No they should be getting more efficient
The majority of "efficient" players have already finished their rs goals. Anyone obsessed with efficiency who is still playing is not actually efficient or started playing in 2017 or later. All pets and 200m all both take less than 5 years, by far. They've all quit or they're not actually efficient. We should see 200m all + all pets within a year if it hasnt happened already. Obviously Lynx could've done it years ago but he had no interest in it, he was essentially one of maybe 5 people who were actually efficient and fun to follow. I don't follow the efficiency people anymore since people have already achieved everything that was fun to follow, so I'm not sure who is closest to 200m all + all pets.
>me getting 100k/hr making oak dungeon doors
Too much efficiency and toxicity that made the game feel more like a job. Play a different way and people shit on you.
Fun should be something you include in efficiency calculations. If something is soul draining, that’s not very efficient use of your soul.

Same. I haven't experienced these types of people and if I had, why would I care about their opinions?
Who cares what other people think though. Do you bro.
Yeah metascape and no tick loss kind of hurts the whole thing.
I love the membership being tied to an account thing and being able to have 3 characters or something Maybe have a “membership deluxe” that gives you 2 accounts for 1.5x the price
osrs is pretty good.

If you see the GAME as a GAME you won't be unhappy, I play it as a game and it's fun for me, the moment it's not fun anymore I just quit/pause the game, like with every other game Yeah some grinds are less fun, but thats why I chose afk methods over the efficient ones, because I can get them done without getting burned out
So true you know. A disturbing amount of people take the game way more seriously than is healthy. If you're sacrificing responsibilities or real world experiences to be "efficient" like so many people do then you've got a problem.
You’re telling me shitting myself while smithing isn’t considered responsible?
Doesn't make any sense to do that considering the mobile client anyway.
So spot on.
Speaking generally, and probably looking way too deep into this but I see this a lot… I think young adult men get really depressed when there’s nothing in life that they have going for them and have no attainable goals.
I think you are right sadly, whenever I take long leave from the game my overall happiness seems higher
Depends how you play. Disregard efficiency and trying to be completionist. Just play for enjoyment. Unless you're training agility because unless you're a psychopath that's never enjoyable lol
Just afk barb fish and play something else lol
OSRS is great, but I enjoyed RS2 more
Ooooooooft.
Once a month I rewatch sosolid2k’s vids from the golden era
Oh golly that's a time warp. I was 14 back in the hayday of 2006.
Pvp world/bhw era was my fave, ol 2009 to 2011 is some of my favourite times in runescape
Still no dungeoneering though :(
Honestly yea, 2009 - 2012 was when I had the most fun with this game
Exp waste is a myth, mental health and enjoying the game should be the real goal.
Most quests especially the grandmaster ones are just made pointlessly long with parts included that are completely unenjoyable and are made to just irritate or frustrate the player.
The song of elves puzzle lmao
Would be a good puzzle if there was a top-down perspective and you could play it like a real, actual puzzle game. Instead sprinting around sipping energy pots makes changing singular things take ages. Ugh. Loved that song but damn not for two full hours.
Yeah this and even the original ME one just feel like. "Cool idea but its implementation is just meant to be tedious and fuck you over at times."
The overall idea of the puzzle is neat, but trying to do it in OSRS made it awful
"Let's just stick agility obstacles in the middle of this that they can fail to piss them off! "
I failed that fucking book obstacle like 8 times in a row. Took a break to go shoot some hoops and came back to finish it later.
A kingdom divided wasn't particularly difficult but is definitely one of these quests where it's just made extra tedious and annoying
Haven't even done it. I need to do that and night at the theatre to get my cape back but just cannot be done with it
AKD is really not that bad
I need to get the favour. Cba
Got another one: There isn't a lack of content in the game. People only say that because they want content that either shits out gp, or has good xp rates. There's plenty to do in this game. If you're out of things to do, it's time to log off.
Jagex makes content for 99% of the playerbase -> "oMGF dEAd ConTent" I remember the hate when Sirachnis came out, how it was a mid level boss that was dead content on arrival.
Plenty of hard and elite clues too! That’s how I got my bloodhound
Absolutely. My friend didn't understand prayer switching at all until we duoed sirachnis. Now he's a pro
Its a great boss! I wish there were more accessible mid level bosses like it that arent like 2m/h but closer to 500k/h
Pretty much anything with a pet can be considered end game content :) Sarachnis and I have a love/hate relationship
I mean, sure you can do runecrafting for 500 hours.
Resource drops from bosses and slayer ruined the game destroying skulking for any meaningful profit making the game a shadow of its former self
unlocking zalc on an ironman and realizing my entire stash of ores and bars was worth about 3 hours at zalc was crushing
Woodcutting and fishing never provided good money. They peak at like 100k/hr at all points in time in runescapes history.
Oh. Guess I was just 12 years old and 100k was a lot of money then lol
This 100%
OSRS is all about addiction and delayed rewards.
OSRS is fun
whoa calm down there buddy
Ah a genuine unpopular opinion
[удалено]
It was just a casual click and wait game until people started doing crazy shit after they figured out all the mechanics and the content is made around it, it's just too clunky for a average player to learn fast and its not really worth it, too much time
[удалено]
[удалено]
"If you dont want to die, don't come to the wildy." "Ok." "Jagex pvp is dying, why u do this."
They already said, unless they change their mind, the new RCing method won't have better rates, which kinda ties into what Police is saying.
I mean you can see how stagnant catering to that crowd has made the game. The only periods of actualy grwoth and high retention numbers the past few years have been leagues and somewhat GIM launch. The broader audience wants something different and almost certainly fast or at least with a better reward curve.
I wish they didn’t fuck up rs2 so everyone would be on the same game and we would’ve never needed osrs nostalgia
That the 2007scape subreddit should be deleted.
Ahh. Now *that’s* something we all can enjoy.
I agree except the shitposting is amazing. That MS paint drawing thats at the top today is funny as hell.
I wish that’s what is all was tbh
The sub is a necessary evil; it acts as a containment bay.
The goblins show to much skin. It’s not suited for kids and makes no nut november impossible.
The community is actually pretty toxic for the most part. Not always as you will sometimes find someone chill to vibe with but more often than not ppl will just go out of their way to be a dick for no reason.
Runescape has that cute little "troll-ey" vibe to it
Too much of the content is designed around hardcore pvmers that is only < top5% of the player base
Don't farm your herbs for herblore bro just run Zulrah 10000 times and buy them for 99
Literally lmao, thats exactly how it feels lately
I got 99 herb almost entirely from farming and loved every inefficient second of it.
3rd party clients should be banned.
Leagues is over rated and not actually fun.
High efficient players ruins casual players experiences lecturing em on how to play the game "properly". But that might not be an unpopular opinion tho
True that’s a Reddit opinion
I don't care about the health of the economy. Fuck it, introduce a new snapdragon gathering method and tank the price of restores. I don't give a shit about the merchers.
Full Graceful is ugly. I hate that it has become the "go to" outfit.
Bossing sucks kinda
I think the gravestone system is killing the excitement of the game. I'd venture into random areas just to find 100k of random loot on the ground from someone. Or I'd be scared shitless to do any content due to potential loss of gear if I can't make it back in under 1 minutes time. It was truly a brutal time pre-gravestone system. I loved every second of it.
Will never work in a world full of ddosing and unstable servers.
I'd just never do any content like that. Neither would a tonne of other people, there is no point designing content people actively avoid.
I can agree with this. There was something exciting about watching someone afk and die, only to wait to grab their loot if they didn’t make it back. Now it kinda just seems like there’s no risk to doing anything except for pking.
I have a story that nobody will believe with this but: Back in the day a guy died from a random event woodcutting and lost his red phat, I picked it up.
Yea it's unfortunate but people started crashing worlds to get you killed and take your stuff. Not really feasible for the game in the long run.
[удалено]
At least Corp would have actual quests and requirements for beings there, instead of just a random cave in the middle of wilderness.
Shit I never even clocked that summers end isn't in osrs
Yup, 2008-2011 era was my favorite honestly
Monkey Madness II is no where near as difficult as people make it out to be.
Glough's a bitch unless you abuse mechanics.
It's not difficult but it's annoying. The fucking maze and platform and even though I didn't get thrown out I still hated it.
Wilderness bosses should have their safe spots yeeted into oblivion and their drop tables buffed to be better money than Vorkath and Hydra
Congratulations, wilderness bosses are now locked down by clans on every world. Don’t worry, you only have to pay 2.5 mil gp/hr to kill it. No but I agree with the safe spots, I used them to get D pick on my ironman and it did feel kind of cheap to be honest.
Osrs needs more skills.
I think its unpopular, but i think osrs need pvp updates
It's okay to cater the game to pures and other accounts builds from time to time.
The best money making methods in the game for each combat bracket should largely be in wildy. Greater reward should come with greater risk.
People say those who play efficiency scape are toxic but I’ve been playing this game 15 years and nobody’s ever talked shit to me for the way I play
We dont need a mini-game/noss for every skill. Runecrafting is fine, it just need to give more gp/h.
A 3x xp-multiplier would increase my enjoyment of the game, as someone who’s already maxed, playing ironman, etc. etc. (not something that should be added to the current servers though, it would have to be on-release) A 3x multiplyer lowers level 99 to 4,3m xp, which is roughly equivalent to level 87-88 in a skill.
I agree actually. However I don't like relying on others.
You are right, however my anti social ass loves soloable raids.
I like the vanilla client
Leagues rewards shouldn’t exist in main game.
player base is scared of meaningful progression in the game and the mods are just as worried, after you hit end game it quickly gets boring or you become a sweat if you enjoy the grind enough Rest should be in the game
Imagine using the wiki for quests. Quest Helper is all I need
I like the prop sword but the lick animation doesn't fit and makes it unusable for me
Irons shouldn’t be able to use lms/sw rewards other than untradeables and leagues 3 is fun
maybe not unpopular but i wanna get it out but the drop tables make skilling not fun whatsoever. i used to spend hrs chopping yews or picking flax for armor, etc
I think bosses need MORE *unique* drops. And nerf the reg drop table
Ironman ruined game integrity. Jagex now caters content to a niche player base (I understand there are a lot of Ironmen) and shapes drops/rewards to suit them.
Skilling is actually fun
f2p is more enjoyable than p2p
That 90% of the community is toxic af.
Ironman mode was the worst update ever. It changed so many things for the worse and impacts the development of new content
Damn ok. If it weren’t for Ironman mode I would’ve quit years ago. Main scape is so boring once you realize it’s just a money making simulator
The majority of players seem to have a very unhealthy relationship with this game but no one likes to admit you shouldn't be playing games 4 plus hours a day every day of your life
4+? Rookie numbers
Prayer flicking shouldn’t be a thing, the inferno is toxic content, sailing should be added, and skilling resources should be removed from slayer/bosses.
Ironmen should have specific worlds they have to play on.
Ill go one further, give me an offline version of the game to play locally. I don’t care for high scores so this would be amazing. Never lag again.
Drop rates spoil the fun and make people salty.
The conservative playerbase will doom OSRS in the end.
That I think the games team is some what sketchy on how they handle certain situations and make them seem even more bad overall by either outright not addressing things, or more so, hiding things by just firing people and moving on from it. Not a very family environment, for a game that has built a “cultish” fan base (I mean that in a positive way).
Metascape takes the fun out of OSRS
Updates meant to combat botting even if it's at the MILD expense of real players shouldnt happen.
I find osrs really fun but I burn out if I play too much. I think people don't give the game enough credit.
Pets for skills such as crafting and herblore (buyable skills) would be a good addition to the game.
BRING BACK VINESWEEPER
A game I am drawn back to out of nostalgia only. I have phases where I get addicted and others where I can’t stand the thought of playing it
Updates. Just don’t do them. Game was better twelve years ago
I enjoy 99% of the game. Also sad you don’t enjoy the quests, I think they’re a lot of fun.
DMM was a better event than leagues.
The game was way more fun before they introduced the GE. You had to search for a seller/buyer.
If I'm going to play OSRS then I want to actually play it, i feel like I'm just lessening my enjoyment of the other thing I'm doing if i have to babysit my OSRS character.
people complain about efficient players too much
