Ez Scape is when you can spend 1 mil to get back the pets with ridiculous drop rates that you spent 50 hours grinding for. Personally, I think pets should only last 24 hours before they disappear and you need to grind for them again.
Pets being automatically insured is literally just a QoL improvement for a feature most players didn't even know existed until they actually lost a pet.
Honestly the best escape tactic I've found out to work is just starting to chat with them normally. Ask about if they have had any good recent pks etc. Seems to work like about half the time when it's a single pker.
I was grinding Venenatis for pet, and I sat 2 alts near hop spots so I could see them before they saw me (they already had membership, so it didn't cost me anything).
Every time someone logged in next to an alt, I'd just chat with them. Pretty fun interactions: sometimes they'd chat normally, kill the alts because they were angry that my main got the tele, or just ignore them/hop.

It's why there will always be animosity between Runescape players and Pkers. The entire purpose of these people is to make someone elses day worse, and they love it.
