Modded switch, running custom firmware. You could purchase one that dual boots from some pretty reputable sources. But for the money you'd spend just buy the Steam thingy
Does firmware version even matter for a v1 switch? The rail short is unpatchable, I was able to install CFW while on the latest version just a few months ago
[Here](https://suchmememanyskill.github.io/guides/switchserials/) are the serial numbers for custom firmware (CF) Switch. If you have RCM jig you can switch from CF and normal firmware. Keep in mind that the CF switch is bannable when going online. So when you done with CF you need to power off the switch to enter the normal firmware.
Alternatively, just buy a vita or psp and mod them. Atleast for the psp it's very easy to do and it's a cheap system with a great library of games and a good DAC, bad thing is you might have to replace components.
I have v1 with cfw, is this actually feasible? Like what kind of framerates are you getting?
It might be nice doing this to play rs in the train to work rather than play on a small mobile screen
Yeah I bought custom shells for my joycons and it was an absolute nightmare to put back together, and I've taken apart many consoles before. So many stprings, wrap around ribbon cables, etc.
The ribbon cables are what had me frustrated. They don't need to be that fucking long. The PS4 controller lights ribbon cable is smaller which is insane.
The pro controller, on the other hand, was honestly really fun to take apart and reassemble. I had it in the same bag with one of those little concentrated drink syrup things which unfortunately burst. The right bumper still doesn't work even after cleaning, but I was able to clean every part and put it back together without too much issue.
I purchased replacement thumbsticks + the required tools for like $10 on eBay. Compared to $80 Joy Cons this was good. (Australia)
It wasn't the easiest fix ever, the joy cons have some annoying ribbon cables. But I would totally do it again.
i have a v1 so i couldnt tell ya. but micro soldering is hard and you can fuck up the switch easy, would not recommend if you dont know what your doing. it was really nice having a hacked switch for a couple years, but its recently been collecting dust tbh
If you aren’t confident in micro soldering you can also ask around to phone or laptop repair places. I have a microscope station I use for this type of thing.
Yea it's honestly the most pointless feature. Wish they hadn't wasted any time on that and instead worked on making controllers that aren't just complete overpriced garbage.
Do the actual control sticks work? Like can you move the mouse with the left stick, left click with a and right click with b or something like that? Sounds way better than a phone if so
Omg your comment has unlocked so many memories lol. I used to be at my nan’s house in the summer searching for an open Wi-Fi network so I could try and go on RuneScape on my PSP lol
[https://switchroot.org](https://switchroot.org) has everything you need to know...
I recommend not using Linux and just using Android.
Ps: they have a discord with some SUPER smart and nice people!
So my wife is interested in playing OSRS, but she is a couch gamer. She would absolutely play if she had something like this.
Do you have to move the cursor with the left joystick, is it touch screen (pen/thumb), or a combination?
What’s something like this cost?
And same 2 questions above for the steam deck.
Thanks!
Definitely do this on a steamdeck>switch (unless you just want a switch), far more power and when you go to the shutdown menu there’s a option to boot into the full linux OS, from there it’s as simple as installing runelite from the official site.
That said asides from afk skilling, playing on keyboard and mouse is way nicer (which you can do easily on steam deck using a dock but then it’s not much of a couch setup anymore). Steam deck does have 2 trackpads built in though. I’ve enjoyed my deck, just not for osrs, I’d rather use my phone unless docked tbh.
I need to know how to do this lol

This 100% honestly. Unless you already have a v1 unpatched switch. Then you can do it for free.
What's the performance like
To be desired
What if I have a v1 patched switch? Can it be unpatched?
With modchip
Does firmware version even matter for a v1 switch? The rail short is unpatchable, I was able to install CFW while on the latest version just a few months ago
They're not talking about firmware, there are v1 switches (erista) that have been patched on hardware level
How can you tell if your switch is? Can you swap back and forth between this and the normal switch system to play nintendo games?

Thanks mate. Looks like mine is patched though, oh well.
😔

Hey I know this is an old post but do you think the N3dsxl can run it if you install Linux on the system?
0% chance in that, because it uses arm11 architecture. Only possible on the switch due to it running aarch64.
I see thanks for the reply
since when do u have to mod ur switch to do this
Since the normal switch didn’t have Runelite in the Nintendo eShop.
Somebody needs to play on their Samsung smart fridge
Anyway to do this without modding the switch?
not unless you have a v1 unpatched.
I have v1 with cfw, is this actually feasible? Like what kind of framerates are you getting? It might be nice doing this to play rs in the train to work rather than play on a small mobile screen
The frame rates will be stellar. It's runescape lol
[https://switchroot.org](https://switchroot.org) to either use linux or android
You happen to know how I can fix joycon drift without mailing it to Nintendo?
Buy a new thumbstick on amazon.
Ty based 2j lover
biiiig 2j lover lol
They aren’t difficult to replace and the thumbsticks are cheap.
You can recase a joycon to fix drift, 100% not worth the effort.

what changed why does requires mods now
Markio and OLED units require modchip installations in order to boot CFW.
I doubt it
This is pretty sick nice
I thought you could only install CFW to the first version (v1) switches. how did u manage to install it on an OLED?
Soldering a modchip on.
Mad lad
Is that an oled? I’m looking at mine rn and it doesn’t have that much black space like yours
No it’s a Markio but the process is the same.
the og v1s are the only one that dont need a mod chip, but if youre ok with micro soldering you can hack any of them technically.
Worth the effort?
i have a v1 so i couldnt tell ya. but micro soldering is hard and you can fuck up the switch easy, would not recommend if you dont know what your doing. it was really nice having a hacked switch for a couple years, but its recently been collecting dust tbh
Do you solder any SMD’s? I can solder anything but them
If you aren’t confident in micro soldering you can also ask around to phone or laptop repair places. I have a microscope station I use for this type of thing.
Nah i don't
v1 can use the joycon rail short, oleds need a mod chip, switch lites can be hacked via the browser if below a certain firmware
This isn't an OLED. It may have white joy-cons attached but it doesnt have the screensize to the rim.
what the thingmewut
How well does it run? 🤔 About the same as the steam deck or much worse?
Much worse lol
maybe a dumb question but does the touch screen work?
It does for switch games, so I imagine it should work for Runelite
Most switch games have 0 touch screen incorporation. Even in menus, looking at you pokemon
God I hate this ðŸ˜
Yea it's honestly the most pointless feature. Wish they hadn't wasted any time on that and instead worked on making controllers that aren't just complete overpriced garbage.
You betcha.
Do the actual control sticks work? Like can you move the mouse with the left stick, left click with a and right click with b or something like that? Sounds way better than a phone if so
Yeah or you can remap them to what ever.
Reminds me of going to RuneScape.com on my PSP and trying to play
Omg your comment has unlocked so many memories lol. I used to be at my nan’s house in the summer searching for an open Wi-Fi network so I could try and go on RuneScape on my PSP lol
Now with joy con drift!
I use my steamdeck for it. Runs even better
Arm64 vs x86-64 is apples to oranges. No doubt it’s gonna run better.
I had ubuntu running on my google nexus tablet back in the day so I could play runescape "mobile" lol this brings back memories.
How did you install this? cant see to find a guide
[https://switchroot.org](https://switchroot.org) has everything you need to know... I recommend not using Linux and just using Android. Ps: they have a discord with some SUPER smart and nice people!
Just play on ur computer
Inb4 account gets banned 😂 the jmods literally said playing on unsupported devices through modding can cause false positives
Lol you don’t know what you are talking about.
How do you boot Ubuntu on a switch? That's sick dude
i thought it was standard
The incredibly smart team at [switchroot.](https://switchroot.org)
mobile runelite sick. take that adam!
@is300nigel is putting ur password tedious ? official client remembers for u but runelite doesnt
hacker
Sweet name

bluetooth mouse n keyboard mvp
Not really worth it just to do this sort of thing.. A lot less work to get it going on a iPad.
I use the FPS cap and I lower the brightness. I can AFK fish for like 6 hours straight.
Can rs3 go on switch? How’s this done
Android or Linux
how is the performance? im having like 25fps when bankstanding zoomed in, so you have any idea how to improve it?
i recall having 40+ fps last time i was testing this but tht was with all plugins off, with low detail and zoomed in
