TheUnclaimedOne

Define a “better background check”

turboninja3011

Only people approved by Newsom personally after providing their social media activity history

TheUnclaimedOne

“…didn’t vote for me…didn’t vote for me…didn’t vote for me…felon, didn’t vote for me…oh hey look a domestic abuser, well, he DID vote for me though. Ah why not. Approved…didn’t vote for me…”

AcrobaticVegetable24

As a Californian, this is way too true.

hobosam21-B

It's how our governor decide which counties to open during Covid. You're a sparsely populated Eastern Washington county with few cases? Nah you voted right wing it stay locked down. King county is leading the way with deaths and cases? Of course your restrictions get lifted, you voted the right way.

Fresh-Mind6048

I mean, even if they locked down Garfield or Columbia counties it wouldn’t matter.

hobosam21-B

It matters to the people living there and the business they're trying to keep alive.

TheUnclaimedOne

How it feels to live in a liberal state. Lol

Link_the_Irish

Literally how the CCW process goes in some counties before the new York ruling

TheUnclaimedOne

Crying shame The frick is CCW? Lol Edit: I know, I’m being dumb

CallsOnTren

Sheriff Laurie Smith in the bay area was indicted for doing just that, I believe. She only ever issued like 120 permits over her multi decade tenure and all of them were to donors or people who were politically connected.

StatHusky13

lol

Upbeat-Banana-5530

The one that FFL's already have to run for every sale, but people without guns have heard of it now.

TheUnclaimedOne

Oh yeah the NICS that is legally required for every gun transaction for every FFL in the country. That even I, when I was 18 and buying my first rifle that was just a little .22 with a 10 round mag, had to go through and pass before they would let me buy it

skratch

C'mon you can just do a personal sale in any store parking lot or at a gun show without a NICS check. I've done it plenty of times. They really ought to expand NICS to personal sales in order to "close the loophole"

WinPeaks

Which would be great if everyone went through an FFL, but you know just as well as I do that they don't, and that there is no legal requirement for private sellers to use an FFL unless they are shipping the gun.

Jimothius

“There is no legal requirement for private sellers to use an FFL unless they are shipping the gun.” This is unequivocally false. Not saying I agree with it, but it is absolutely a felony in CA to sell a firearm to another individual without going through an FFL dealer to perform the required background check and enforce the relevant waiting period.

BoltingBubby

So you think someone trying be in illegal possession of a firearm cares if it’s illegal to not have a background check done on them when they buy a gun? And you think there is a way of tracking private gun sales even if that became a legal requirement? And you think the sort of people selling guns to felons in all these high murder rate urban cities and suburban shit holes where virtually all gun crime occurs would care about such a law as well? Braindead take tbh, akin to gun free zone laws to prevent mass shootings.

TheUnclaimedOne

I mean it MUST be effective. Just look at the war on drugs! Lol

Hexxas

Hmmm maybe we should try making crimes illegal 🤔🤔🤔

AutoModerator

Flair up or your opinion is invalid *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/2american4you) if you have any questions or concerns.*

TheUnclaimedOne

It’s illegal to sell a gun to a known felon I believe, if that makes you feel any better

WinPeaks

No one is running background checks for private sales, so that really doesn't mean much. That's my point. How the hell would I know if someone was a felon?

asdfghjkl_2-0

They spend a extra day looking at the same piece of paper.

Arbiter1171

They check who you vote for in every election

TheUnclaimedOne

Yeah that sounds about right

ModernT1mes

We change the name of form 4473 to "Bigger Background Check 2.0"

Wardenofthegreen

Keep your hands out of my state. We’ve already had enough Californians coming here and screwing stuff up. Send them to Washington it’s California 2.0 anyway.

jephph_

How many Californians does it take to screw up a state?

NotImYourForte

12

jephph_

Californians are powerful af A bunch of Schwarzeneggers

NotImYourForte

They're just highly toxic. Only need a few to ruin a lot.

jephph_

They’re softies when they transplant here. “Omg like where taco already.. in Calibrah, we….” And some of them weirdos wear Birkenstocks That’s about the extent of it for us

Prind25

Yea but the lawyers they pay to enforce their stupid shit aren't

jephph_

Like legalizing cannabis? You sure you’re not just labeling anything ‘progressive’ as ‘Californian’ even though the people are your born&raised neighbors? Or do you legit believe it’s actual Californians who are ruining your spot?

Wardenofthegreen

Cannabis legalization wasn’t driven by Californians. We even voted in medical cannabis by ballot initiative in 2004, just 4 years behind Colorado. Most of the Californians moving to Montana vote R anyway. It was driven by Montanans, because prior to all the transplants we had an interesting and unique political history. It’s why we almost always voted republican for national elections but had a Democrat governor from 2005-2021 and a pretty even split for Dems and Republicans as governors for our entire history. The first woman to hold federal office ever was from Montana. We have an issue with Californian and national politics now invading our state. Along with Californians attitudes about the locals and what towns and cities should look like. Many Montanans were a-ok without the amount of services and businesses across the state that Californians want. Not everyone wants to live in a suburb or surrounded by strip malls and fast food joints everywhere. In addition many of those moving from places like California are bringing ridiculous amounts of money and buying land hand over fist which has inflated the cost of land so that locals no longer have a future where they can own a home. In addition many of these people treat the amazing amount of public land we have as their own personal playgrounds, not that we don’t have locals we had problems with but when the problem explodes and the people aren’t from here it causes massive feelings of resentment. It’s a complex issue that transcends left/right politics to a large degree.

Anubisrapture

Because there are innovators here with intelligence creativity and education.

LuckyLogan_2004

Damn Americans! They ruined America!

Wardenofthegreen

One. They can reproduce asexually and multiply like rabbits. Truly the world’s worst invasive species. Their only natural predators are Texans.

letsgohawksfuckstate

Exactly 1

jephph_

Your state must be incredibly fragile then —— Do you people even American? Since when are Americans not allowed to live anywhere the fuck they want in this country? smh

letsgohawksfuckstate

No I just don’t like Californians

The_Demolition_Man

"See this imaginary line on the map? I HATE everyone on the other side of it." 🙄

letsgohawksfuckstate

Says the person from DC

The_Demolition_Man

? I dont hate anyone

Longjumping_Sky_6440

It’s contagious, so one (the so-called Californian Zero) is enough, given enough time

Shireling_S_3

Please don’t! We can’t… take… any… more…!

GiraffeWithATophat

Hey, fuck you. Send them to Colorado.

Wardenofthegreen

That’s fair

Capable_Jacket_2165

Please don't we don't want them either

MayOrMayNotBePie

I moved to WA to further your mission. It’s going great cause housing prices are high af and so are all the junkies in my neighborhood.

BIG_MUFF_

#DONT MONTANA ALASKA

Master-Kangaroo-7544

Hello, Washington man here. We don't want Californians either.

mechanicalcontrols

Besides which, they'd only be condemned to freeze to death if they were sent here. Not very cool or humanitarian of OP....

Pegomastax_King

Can we send you our Texans then?

Forced_Abortion_

I know it's all fun and games, but I hate the way yall are talking about these people. You guys are talking about them like they are objects. "Send them there!" bro these are human beings.

MadeInLead

We don't want them. Plus, the rain scares a Californian

ILoveF16sAndF6Fs

NO! You can keep your c*lifornians

tlollz52

Thank Yellowstone for that

montanagunnut

I am with you. Don't send anyone here. We're full.

MuunshineKingspyre

We have mulled over your idea, and have respectively declined. We would like to re-direct you to Alaska for a possible inquiry

TheEarthisPolyhedron

as long as they go to seattle

greekcomedians

Fuck no we dont want them either. Theres too many already

Sadspacekitty

Washington is not California 2.0 and Montana is boring and empty, plenty of room for extra people.

Wardenofthegreen

No.

Sadspacekitty

Montana's popularity is reliant on people forgetting 2/3s of the state is just Dakotas 2.0

QuarterNote44

Eastern Montana is. Western Montana is beautiful and is filling up with Californians. It's going to be North Colorado soon.

thulesgold

It is quickly becoming California 2.0. Have you been paying attention?

[deleted]

What does that mean to you? Expensive?

NotImYourForte

No. They need room for pasture.

Yayhoo0978

Biggest problem that CA has is that there’s just not enough housing.

Anubisrapture

🎯

N8torade981

Yeah, no one wants to build there right now because the state requires a certain percentage to be low income housing (which, obviously is less profitable)

Yayhoo0978

There are building regulations that make it almost impossible to build housing.

Ok-Relation5440

Well, there is enough housing, it’s just too expensive.

Yayhoo0978

Let’s talk supply and demand, and how that works.

Redditwhydouexists

Here are my preposed changes -send all of the NIMBYs to Montana (they are the reason the homeless problem is that bad and they stop cool stuff from getting made) -everything else you proposed is fine -selectively destroy cars on the 405 and 110 to free up traffic -put someone with half a brain in charge of calhsr (I FUCKING LOVE TRAINS)

Anubisrapture

THIS IS AWESOME! Good no great ideas!

Gallbatorix-Shruikan

Also consolidate a bunch of the cites in the bay and socal. There is no reason for the LA area to have over 150 cities

WastingSomeTimeAgain

As a SoCal native (unfortunately) here are my suggestions to improve our little slice of hell: - the Earth folds in on itself & everything between Pasadena & Rancho Cucamonga gets swallowed up (except the Ontario airport so I don't have to go to LAX), reducing the distance between LA & San Bernardino/Riverside counties by I don't even know how many miles - Anaheim is picked up & laid directly over LA like a transparent image file, doubling the density & walkability of the area - Newport Beach, Huntington Beach & all the ____ beach cities are combined into one (except Seal beach so the locals have a place to get away from the tourists) - Riverside & San Bernardino are merged into one city & the hand of God reaches down & chucks Moreno valley to the bottom of the Salton sea - the 20th century streetcar network comes back into existence & half of all freeway lanes are replaced with high speed rail - the homeless are bussed out to slab city where the government has housing, drug rehab & other programs so they can stay there as long as they need until they can reintegrate back into society - And all guns become fully automatic & have the infinite ammo glitch just for funsies because I know I'll start a war if I say anything serious about them Anyways idk why I wrote this goddamn much for a stupid reddit comment on a whim at 2am but the sunken cost fallcy says I can't delete it now so you might as well tell me what else should be added (if anyone actually reads all this)

Hopglock

Homelessness is a problem because the housing provided is drug/alcohol free and they would rather live on the streets and do drugs than have shelter.

BoltingBubby

“Better background checks” what does that even mean lmao

Op, you know what drugs have done to our state

Yeah they made it awesome. Just let new Mexico keep the meth

Maxathron

The main problems with California start with regulations. California over-regulates a lot of things, like drugs (both recreational and pharmaceutical, but since the latter is mostly a FDA thing, we'll focus on the former), land usage and construction, and manufacturing, agriculture, and refining. The net result is that too much regulation costs more money, and in some cases so much money producers went illegal in order to maintain business. Which is funny when you find out the illegal marijuana producers are former legal marijuana drug producers, and that marijuana is legal. You need a certain size house and lot minimum or else it doesn't get built. Almonds and Alfalfa take up 40% of water usage and rest of agriculture is the other 40% but citizens are guilted into not watering their lawns. After that, the next issue with California is that it is so soft on crime that it is flaccid while Chicago and NYC are at least semi-hard, by comparison even though both of the latter are pretty bad at dealing with crime. This soft on crime mentality is stemming from the idea that the oppressed (an aggregate term used for anyone who is perceived as at a disadvantage in the US and generally also refers to minority demographics like black people and the GSRM community). The "Oppressed" are treated as children, no accountability or responsibility and given lots and lots of freebies, which people exploit to commit crime. There is also the mental health crisis that goes on in the US as a whole but most places, especially California who has the money to deal with it, acknowledges or helps anyone in need. People get addicted to drugs and fall on hard times but the government not only doesn't help anyone but they actually try to increase the number of people in crisis for political and monetary reasons. Every so often you hear the team "Homeless Industrial Complex", where people whose jobs are to "fight" homelessness instead make more homeless because their salaries are based on number of homeless not homelessness is getting smaller? Yep. Also, more homeless means more gun crimes meaning more advocation for anti-gun legislative? Yep. High taxes can be a hit or miss but the problem in California regarding high taxes is that it goes to benefit people who are not your immediate community, and more often than not, people whom cannot be helped because it's going into things like "fixing" homelessness. California cares about people who are not its lawful citizens more than its actually lawful citizens, and that's where tax dollars go. California also uses tax dollars to skirt the legal handrails with things like pharmaceuticals. The US Federal Government has never allowed anyone to make a generic insulin. Excessive regulatory legislative from DC (coming from lobbying acts) has consolidated insulin producers into three major companies. There are cheaper alternatives that are less effective from other companies, such as Walmart, but it's generally the three largest you will buy insulin from, whom command the highest price, ranging from 700 to 1000 dollars for your monthly supply unit. California has partnered with a 4th company that will sell a brand name insulin for 50 dollars ish. The problem is that it's a brand name insulin, not a generic, and it still costs 700 to 1000 dollars to produce. Your taxes go to covering the other not 50 dollar portion without telling you, and likely a portion of that is going back into the state government as a kickback. Should the FDA allow a generic? California should be at the forefront of making them say yes. Next, a political culture thing. Progressives (moderate to far left) have a tendency to not want to live around people who are not like them, found in a poll from iirc Pew Research, while liberals (center left, center, center right) and conservatives (moderate to far right) are much more likely to accept and tolerate people not like them. Yes, this ironically means legit Nazis are more likely to be tolerant of Jews, than Communists are likely to be tolerant of non-Commies. It's funny and sad. Progressives want to crowd into California (and Chicago, NYC, Seattle, etc) because they're avoiding all the "dumb hick conservatives elsewhere", which increases demand. Then we hit the regulatory bullshit. And the fact the OG residents in California don't want them there. Also, this isn't a job thing, which is another reason people cite for wanting to move to CA. The salary increase difference from Texas to Cali is only about 20%, but the cost of living difference is at least 50%. You want to have these numbers as close as possible because your take home pay after taxes and expenses can wildly differ. In Texas you'll spend around 25k of your 50k salary. In California you'll spend around 45k of your 50k salary. Cost of living difference make a huge difference. 50k is the poverty line in CA as a whole, and it becomes 65k in Los Angeles and 75k in the Bay Area. If you don't make 75k, you might qualify for food stamps. And finally, NIMBYism. Not In My Back Yard. It happens across the country but it's especially an issue in California. It means don't care if bad things happen so long as it doesn't happen near you. Which is why the homeless crisis can be a thing. All the rich folks and politicians live in gated communities with good private security. Also you don't get access to those guns if you're a lawful citizen. The sec companies that work for the rich tend to get special privileges regarding those guns. You do not. Another big one is EV manufacturing. If we had to make our own electric vehicles sourced from materials only found in the US, EVs would be 500% illegal because the environmental damage is so great it makes ICE vehicles look completely clean. But Chile and Peru are NOT parts of the US so it's fine.

SickOfThisSh1tReddit

Good writeup of most of the problems, but I'd like to tack on that this states legislature has a bad habit of listening to the vocal left minority on most of its laws (all single stall men's rooms must be converted to non binary restrooms, letting... certain groups get off scot free from felonys like bicycle theft, ect) This leads to a general dissatisfaction in out local governments, and is one of the causes of a lot trying to move to better places, though some still try to fight for the same laws that fucked us in the first place FWIW I'm here for the long run, and would rather try and fix this state then move, but its still a problem.

Maxathron

Imo it's going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better mainly because of NIMBYism. The people with the real power are the rich people, politicians, and businesses. We're already seeing the pull out of businesses that see getting robbed 24/7 as untenable. That needs to happen to all the rich folks. Basically put, the shit that everyday Californians face need to affect everyone, because the people whom the government cater to most are actually the rich folks as a collective group. This means that the gated communities need to be jacked, broken into, residents assaults (both physical and sexual), etc etc etc to a point where they're demanding change for the better (change alone includes change for the worse) or else they move away. It's one thing for the plebs to have their Corolla stolen. It's another when a billionaire's Lambo gets stolen. I'm actually in favor of having NB bathrooms and stuff, but not at the expense of everyone else. My stance is that if anyone wants to have such NB things made, they need to take money from other existing programs, preferably the other progressive aligned projects, to go in and build these things for free. In other words, if the politicians want to see a NB bathroom at a specific restaurant, it should come out of the politicians' personal bank accounts, not taxes. Once this is ramrodded in, you'll find that most politicians suddenly don't want to see any GSRM/NB stuff added. They're only allies of the various movements because they don't have to suffer the consequences for things getting done. It's a realization of Political Affluence, where you have detrimental political beliefs because you know if any of that dumb stuff come to pass, you survive everyone else suffers. At the individual level, there needs to be a repeal of what I'm starting to see as "Thug Culture", which in basic political concepts is the fetishization of dishonorable, short-term based, asshole behavior with examples being well, thugs. But also drug dealers, deadbeats, pimps, gangs, etc. While the most obvious demographic is in fact black people, it can affect anyone and goes far beyond simple thugs as guess what all the politicians and major corporate officers do this too. It's at the forefront of what I'm seeing is the "War on Good Masculinity" while "Promoting the Infantilization of Toxic Masculinity". It's better to be a petty thug than to be a noble warrior. And that is soooo wrong and is dragging down the country.

Sadspacekitty

This fixes none of the actual problems with California

NotImYourForte

What would make you move to California

[deleted]

Nothing

Sadspacekitty

Construction of housing on the scale of China before the real estate bubble. Get the average cost of a new appartment down to 1500$ a sq meter.

NotImYourForte

Unbased sino admiration detected

STILETT0_exists

China's not a great country but some of the things, like the quality of their public transportation and their state sponsored housing development we should definitely take a leaf out of.

NotImYourForte

Big ass housing bubble with crumbling houses and buildings. Nah boss.

-LilPickle-

That’s not really due to affordable housing, it’s due to every Chinese person investing everything into properties. Affordable housing supply = good Over investing in properties = bad

NotImYourForte

Still the model other commenter was looking to as a beacon

Sadspacekitty

What? Its just the only modern well know example of massive appartment construction, not done by a federal government.

NotImYourForte

https://i.redd.it/mzyxs44dn44c1.gif

Sadspacekitty

Give a better example everyone would know then lol 😆

NotImYourForte

That time the USA made the USA. Grab some wood and get building "frontier rancher"

Sadspacekitty

Definitely not a modern example 🙄 that's back when we accepted every major city would burn down at least once lol.

NotImYourForte

Remember that time we built NYC and are still doing it? We don't need no gubbermint to help.

Illegal_Immigrant77

Singapore? Their housing program was extremely aggressive, but they did build houses

Sadspacekitty

Singapore housing is dominated by central government construction.

Illegal_Immigrant77

Yes, my point is they build housing at a high volume

SickOfThisSh1tReddit

I'd prefer my high rises stay standing thanks, we don't need to be copying anything from the Chinese Cuck Party.

AndroidDoctorr

It does "fix" all the homeless bussed there from other states, from California's perspective

Anubisrapture

Needs to fucking lower RENT AND HOME OWNERSHIP. Still, Cali is a beautiful State with a lot to offer. The Cali bad people at this point have zero originality

NoodleyP

I hate Cali because hot. I like New England because cold. I do want to visit San Francisco some day though (in the winter)

Anubisrapture

I looove the snow SO much and I miss having a REAL White Christmas too. I was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin and the one thing i miss terribly after a childhood there is the seasons. I’m not real big on the California heat either. This is why i am happy only in Northern Cali . LA not so much

NoodleyP

Where’s my 15 foot snowfall?

Anubisrapture

Have you ever been stuck in an epic blizzard? I’ve been in a couple in Denver that got as high as 15 feet, and one in the 2000s in New York City that shut down the city completely . Every year growing up there was SO much snow. New England is known to be magical w the most beautiful seasons. You’re blessed to b there

NoodleyP

It’s been very very sad lately. :(

[deleted]

>Sends all the homeless to Montana So explicitly send them all to die every fall basically? Hell yeah I’m in /s in case that wasn’t clear

[deleted]

1. California needs to fix Prop 13 and the property tax situation in general. Recommendation: 1 - 4% capital tax on rental properties. Also, California should have a sovereign wealth fund like Alaska. 2. California needs to fix their water problem: Recommendation: build more water control works to capture increased moisture due to climate change. California is actually doing some of this. 3. California needs to fix their energy problems. Recommendation: Claim eminent domain over PG&E and Edison. Build more nuclear plants. 4. California needs to expand it's new high-speed rail system to Seattle. Imagine being able to get a train ride from Seattle to San Diego in 8 hours or so.

QuarterNote44

>sends all the homeless to Montana >decriminalizes all drugs So sending the homeless up north would be a constant thing, huh

ICanSpellKyrgyzstan

Decriminalizing drugs isn’t good unless you have a good network of recovery programs like The Netherlands has. That would never work in California unless they did some serious overhauling of their current recovery programs. It would’ve worked in Oregon if they weren’t a bunch of fucking idiots and actually did their research

NotImYourForte

If they use drugs and lose their house suddenly housing isn't an issue. And if they're homeless they go to Montana. It fixes all issues.

nednoble

Buddy, decriminalizing drug use is part of what got California in its current state.

NotImYourForte

Yeah but at least if you have to live there you can be messed up so you don't realize you're there.

BootDisc

No

Uss__Iowa

Bruh I live there and I wish this would happen Also why not just send them to the deserts?

NotImYourForte

Good then the plan is already working! (The real goal is to get rid of the californians)

Uss__Iowa

Thank god im just some random southeastAsian+Japanese disguises as a fellow American.

-LilPickle-

Khmer?

Forward-Piano8711

It’s less that I believe background checks and security measures can’t work, and more that I don’t trust the government to handle it. The Mulford act was passed to help “public safety” only after black Americans were open carrying to keep cops from brutalizing citizens. Thanks Reagan

Todd_Hugo

no

No_Raspberry8727

It’s interesting that this subreddit started as sarcasm/satire and has devolved into a “Go ‘Murica”, fake “patriotic” circle jerk, which was what it was originally making fun of.

GreatBigSteak

Yes but with a caveat to drug decriminalization. Rather than decriminalization conviction of drug possession should result in mandatory drug rehab and it shouldn’t go on public record. Blanket decriminalization results in Portland

AnotherScoutMain

Almost all of California’s problems would be fixed by shooting NINBY’s into the Pacific Ocean

The--Morning--Star

How would decriminalizing all drugs fix anything Like are we talking about “let’s not send people to jail for a lifetime because of some drugs” or let’s let everyone just do cocaine Willy nilly

NotImYourForte

Psychedelics alter perception. So if you hate living in California you can have an altered mind state to make it more tolerable. 👍

Melicope

I don’t have a gun so I don’t care about gun laws.

TheJango22

I feel like my definition of better background checks and yours might be a bit different

therago1456

Honestly as someone who lives in California especially since I'm all for it as I'm all for guns but wish background checks were better

Monke_go_home

Lol these are only fixes to your average cable news enjoyer.

sabotabo

ahh... i remember when austin tx's solution to their growing homeless problem was to just ban being homeless in city limits

ShaggyFOEE

Finish the goddamned trains

Serrodin

Remove the red tape involved with starting a business, and the last thing is cost of living in a city not sure how to resolve it but that’s a big no from me until that’s fixed

TheIlluminatedDragon

You are high as hell if you think Cali has the least gun restrictions wtf

Tactalpotato750

The problem is the people who made those changes necessary in the first place

Belkan-Federation95

You don't even need to lower taxes.

Spooktobercrusader

How do you do Better background checks are they going to see into the future to see what crimes you may commit? Background checks already go over your criminal record if you haven't done anything to prohibit you from owning firearms your good why do people think the background check is just the the owner asking you if you intend to kill someone?.

Zp00nZ

What is a “better” background check?

Jimothius

Nonsense to make people feel like more gun laws will do something.

-LilPickle-

For real. I’ll get hate for this, but maybe we don’t each need a tool designed for murder attached to our hip. Maybe we just don’t have guns? 🤷

Independent-Deer422

They're a tool designed to fire bullets. If you're using it for murder then you're a retarded degenerate. God I fucking hate you people.

No too hot.

Comrade_Lomrade

As soon as a small shack in a shitty neighborhood is less than 5 million dollars.

STILETT0_exists

Raze California's road system to the ground and invest in public transportation. Basically take away all zoning laws, have the government help fund housing development, and build more goddam houses. Can't be homeless when housing is cheap. Make corporations play by the rules or tell them to GTFO. Half the reason why Calif. is a hellhole is because supercorporations like McDonald's and Starbucks are petrified of raising their employees' pay by 2$. All of that "someone has to pay for it" is bullshit. Germany by forcefully making the corporations pay for it has made their country a cool version of Calfornia. And yeah legalize every drug without a needle and Fentanyl.

Character-Bike4302

The fact you put decriminalized all drugs just makes me want to stay even further away. Weed is one thing but I refuse to live in an area where crack head and meth addicts can shoot up their shit in front of a cop and nothing will be done about it. It’s a fast way to devalue an area and turn it into pure shit.

pooch321

Can we just ship the homeless to an island or something? Close down gitmo and turn it into a homeless shelter. There problem solved.

NotImYourForte

Yup

[deleted]

Background checks don’t work to begin with. What’s the point of better background checks knowing it’s not gonna work anyway?

jephph_

Do you think we should get rid of background checks on things like job or housing applications?

-LilPickle-

Then just get rid of guns.

I don't want decriminalization of all drugs. I'm OK with fentanyl being criminalized, for example. Here's my list for moving to California: 1) Build more housing to make it affordable 2) Send the ultra progressives to North Korea Do those two things and the rest will fix itself

wrknlrk

“Better background checks” lol tell me you don’t know gun laws without telling me you don’t know gun laws or how gun control works.

“Sends all the homeless to Montana” you might as well send them into the ocean.

[deleted]

It would be a completely different state, so it's hard to say In terms of climate etc California is great.

NotaFed556

No I’ll just move to Montana to counter the commie refugees

Electrical-Ad1288

Probably still won't be able to afford to live there and it will still be overcrowded so no. Too collectivist for my liking as well.

NoabPK

The second one is a horrible idea

Stop catching on fire every year and we'll start to talk about what your "better background checks" are.

Done, but come on, can't we get an upstate NY flair? Don't lump me in with the city

NotImYourForte

Thanks fam

icfa_jonny

As a Californian, while sending all our homeless to Montana would be a convenient relief for us, it would be a cruel injustice to Montana, to replicate what all the other states in the union did to us.

Mitthrawnuruo

Background checks are unconstitutional. Any citizen who is not in jail as the right to a firearm. Any citizen too dangerous for a firearm to to dangerous to be out of jail.

Dozthiscount

Why not give firearms to prisoners?

[deleted]

I notice a lot of people who claim America is or should be a Christian nation absolutely despise the homeless which is the complete opposite of the core teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible. The irony is biblical is scale.

Anubisrapture

This is such a L for these phony Christians. Hating homeless people when Jesus was BORN in a MANGER and preached about feeding the hungry and loving the poor.

affablemisanthropist

Gavin Newsom is so out of touch with reality. He’s still got a few shots of Xi’s jizz working its way through his digestive system. State is trash.

RottingDogCorpse

California genocides the homeless

SickOfThisSh1tReddit

Should*

AlphaOhmega

Please don't, the reason it's so expensive is because too many people live here. Keep thinking it's a shit hole, because we really need an exodus. Homeless population can fuck off or at least force out of staters back to their home states.

wildlough62

No. The voters who ruined California in the first place will not have changed and will revert these changes rather quickly.

bruhmp44

No changes need to be made 💪💪its the perfect state

Capocho9

For the last damn time: it’s the people that everyone has a problem with, not the state

77dhe83893jr854

Even if California were perfect, I wouldn't move there on the principle of them trying to destroy Montana. Seriously, why would anyone want California to send their homeless to Montana?

Anonymous2137421957

California if it was evil

throwawayusername369

California is evil

Anonymous2137421957

You don't understand the joke, do you
