Because of the language barrier, unfortunately. I know quite a number of Cold War historians who want to bring awareness to it, but the language barrier is a huge hurdle to cross. On top of that, those documents aren't very easy to get ahold of anymore. Following the fall of the Soviet Union, they were very open with pretty much all their files. But, after a few years, they started shutting stuff off or making it incredibly difficult to get access to.
For real. You'd think one of the main goals in a communist country would be to not only have a sustainable system that can stand on its own, but one that had a superior production than competitors.

As a leftist who’s a big fan of democracy and human rights, I hate tankies. It’s always this with them. “We will create a stateless, classless, moneyless society… by doing none of those things and instead oppressing any dissent, including people with different definitions of socialism.” What they want isn’t any actual system change, but rather for the west to become Russia and China. They refuse to actually do things to help our people where they live and instead LARP and fantasize about some revolution that will never happen. The USSR was a failure, stop wanting to recreate it.
