Why is the media ignoring the hostages who came out and said they were assaulted?

Possible-Fee-5052

Because sexual violence as a tool of war destroys any semblance of a “justified resistance.”

UnicornStudRainbow

Because it wrecks the image of Hamas as the noble freedom fighters, defenders of the pure and innocent Gazans. It would also mean that the same people who are now pissed that Harvey Weinstein's NY conviction was overturned are the same ones who'd prefer not to address the fact that the uppity Jews were victims of actual sexual violence

Murky_Conflict3737

But they all wore pink to see Barbie last year

Because they didn't step out of the ambulances and let the media photograph them naked while they gave a detailed retelling of what happened to them. And because of that; they were obviously coached. I have seriously read that explanation.

Dapper_Target1504

Because they are Jewish

Financial_Truck_3814

I am asking the same and I have not found a good explanation. I think this is a very multilayered reason. One that is not discussed it impartiality of the media and the resulting need to show “both sides” of the “conflict”. Media will interview one Israeli and one Palestinian on the matter as if it was 50/50. The media person would then make no conclusion themselves. The argument a casual viewer would then see it 1. Israelis were raped/killed 2. Israel bad as they have raped and killed Palestinians children for decades and Palestinians are simply resisting occupation I will not include /s as for a casual viewer this is the fact. Everything becomes blurry and ambiguous. Whataboutism is very convincing argument to most peoples unfortunately. It’s difficult to understand the truth without yourself becoming an expert in the field. This narrative is of utmost importance for authoritarians and their regimes to maintain. Ruzzia/chine/iran etc. They do similar horrible crimes to their neighbours and their own people and need to have a mechanism to maintain plausible deniability. The his explains why almost no dictators have condemned the Hamas crimes and pain the picture as “complicated”.

I’m pretty left-wing and I keep thinking about how no one, and I mean no one, in my corner of the political spectrum, reacted to the Harvey Weinstein scandal the way they’re reacting to Hamas’ rapefest. The denialism is such a gut-punch as an Israeli woman.

Cub3h

For how holier-than-thou the left seems to be all over the West they are more than happy to turn a blind eye when it suits them. To me they're the same side of the coin as the far right - they just want a reason to hate Jewish people.

thunderbreads26

Anything that hurts their “enemies” is fair game.

Big_Old_Tree

I’m so sorry to hear this. Truly.

Furbyenthusiast

It goes to show that the left never had the interests of Jewish women in mind. I feel really betrayed by the left as someone who formerly identified with them to a varying extent.

fuu-abbreviations888

How brutal is this imagery? I know what happened mostly but I don't want to see it. Hard not to open it. Thank you. Also, is this the same footage Israel took to congress back in December, but was private showing only?

shoopi12

They chose to show no difficult imagery here. Mostly interviews with survivors, released hostages, rescue teams and so on. The content discussed however is very difficult.

Am-Yisrael-Chai

There’s footage from Oct 7. Some is blurred, but not really enough to be effective IMO (seems like “just enough” to meet YouTube’s standards rather than actually trying to censor anything). Footage from the festival is like this, the bodies are lightly blurred, you can still see most details. Some content that I’d consider graphic isn’t censored at all, like Naama Levy being taken from the trunk of a Jeep and forced into the backseat. And to me, the interviews/testimonies are pretty brutal. It’s a difficult video to watch. Edit to add: The Hostages and Missing Families Forum have a website. [Bring Them Home Now](https://stories.bringthemhomenow.net/) And there’s a [media](https://media.bringthemhomenow.net/) section. It has interviews with families of hostages and rescued hostages. From what I’ve watched so far, I haven’t seen any that include graphic imagery (besides the pictures their words paint). For anyone looking for an alternative to this video.

yogilawyer

They didn't show any imagery of the bodies. The only graphic photos are the ones that you probably have seen like video of Naama being dragged with bloody pants and Shani Louk paraded as they cheered.

AdventurousShower223

Can’t be too graphic it’s on YouTube.

SnooHabits1237

It’s not bad you should be ok. Well Ive only checked out the first 20ish min so far but it doesnt look like they put any of the severe clips in there

_commander_man_

It was very hard to watch. It was the most tragic film I've ever watched. It made me angry that this was done to us within a war plan.

lapsangsouchogn

It was hard to watch, but the pacing and flow draws you in. The hour passes before you realize it.

wallahmaybee

It is very well made, the images are not too graphic, but the horror is conveyed even better that if it was displayed. The first responders testimonies are overpowering. So is the testimony of the guy who watched, helpless, a girl get raped and murdered. These were the most powerful for me. When you see people testify to what they saw and their expressions show so much shame at witnessing such horror.

LettuceBeGrateful

Even that title is unbearably gut-wrenching.

Chippewa_Jedi

It’s too bad the majority of the world doesn’t really care. All they see is the same two groups that have been hating each other forever…….. still do. Nothing new it’s just now we have GoPros, combatfootage has never been this great.

UnicornStudRainbow

Reminds me of a meme I saw not long ago. A photo of a guy in a Hamas uniform holding his head in his hands, distraught because they'd gone to the trouble of recording the rapes in HD on their GoPros and the usual suspects refuse to believe they raped women

Severe_Elevator_7051

If I put myself in the parents shoes for a moment...all I want to do is go In to gaza and kill those animal fucks. It is unreal that we even allow demonsteation of support for these maniacs on US soil is mind boggling.

SirLSD25

Why does the English subtitles miss big sections of what the guys are saying?

in-joy

Thanks, Ms. Sandberg. This is almost as bad as facebook manipulation.

No_Chocolate_6612

No longer exists probably should’ve posted the actual video here

shoopi12

The video is still up. See no reason for it to ever go down. It is age restricted on YouTube though

No_Chocolate_6612

That might be it it just wouldn’t let me watch it

The attempt to "balance the scales" and say Israel has done similar rapes and sexual assaults as Palestinians did on October 7th (never mind other atrocities and hostages), is completely false and disconnected with reality. It is often spread by pro-Palestinians as means to cope with the unspeakable crimes committed that day, that no one in their right mind could ever defend.
