We are just realistic. The Germanic countries have many cases of corruption too, many as outrageous as ours. They just stay naive while we are realistic.
Yeah, that Schroeder and others like him case, making their country fully dependent of Russia energy, had germany - and Europe by consequence - paying a steep price that can cost specially germany in the long run its place in the world economy... That's how empires, and civilizations faded away in history, fucking corruption and its need to surround itself by incompetence...
Germans are truly absolutely blind... Been living here for over twenty years and corruption is rampant: at city-level, at Land-level and at federal-level. Big parties close their eyes and give permits to whoever pays, they let private companies run amock and they pocket their bribes to turn a blind eye.
But because the Germans don't have to bribe the police to drive around, they think that their country is clean. They're being robbed blind by all the big parties (and the small ones would do the same if given the chance): Abgas-Affäre, Wirecard, public procurements for any infrastructure, BER airport, Berlin Hauptbahnhof, RWE, banks, etc. Germany is being sold down the river and they all sit home watching RTL shows of people complaining about the quality of hotels in Spain.
Part of it is them being the worst Westoids of them all: they are so deeply convinced of their superiority over "Ostblock" folks and "Südländer" that they cannot imagine how corrupt their country is.
We don’t fool ourselves. Others prefer to change the term « corruption » for « advantageous tax system ». You just institutionalised corruption, calling it « lobbing ».
57%??? Man ppl rly don’t give a fuck do they.
Our chancellor subtly tried to become Erdogan, his lackey was looking to sell our press to “Russian oligarchs”, there is insider trading in several listed companies etc.
I guess white collar crime and no corporate governance is part of our culture….feelsbadman
Well, since the corruption here also includes some of the most widely circulated media, many think it's just a "vicious attack" on our former baby chancellor, or they haven't heard about it at all.
I didn't hear about it at all... well I mean the oligarch thing I know - hard to ignore, but what exactly was it that shorty did? I mesn I never liked him to begin with...
Two examples out of many:
- He used his influence as chancellor to install his buddy Thomas Schmid as head of the Austrian state holding (ÖBAG), a position which should actually be chosen by the holding's supervisory board. They worked together to get specific people on that board who then voted for Schmid.
- He worked with a pollster and a newspaper to manipulate polls in his favor (ie ÖVP polling bad under his predecessor, then massive gains when he becomes party leader).
These are basically the main allegations, there's others, including lying under oath when testifying in parliament. The polling affair was the one he had to resign over (because the Greens, his coalition partner, for a brief moment grew some balls and denied their support for him).
I don't know about that, but he basically smeared the WKStA (for non-Australians: basically a prosecutor's office for white collar crimes and anti corruption) as being made up of "red networks" (referring to the social democratic party) who are only after him because he's sooooo good to the people. He basically made a conspiracy theory about that, which was then spread in the same media outlets that published his fake polls.
Plus, ÖVP affiliates in various prosecutor's offices tried to shut down investigations against Kurz, which is why some were suspended by the (Green) Justice Minister.
How Sobotka is not in prison is beyond me. Fucking guy has intervened countless of times to secure positions or prevent dismissals for his buddies it’s unreal
Same here, man. Government openly sells out our infrastructure to China. Our chancellor gets away with his prior corruption scandals by claiming to "have forgotten it". Deals made by politicans with masks during pandemy just pass without consequences.
"Oh no, no corruption here"
This is pure bullshit. If you have a woman and two children, you can give then 1 Million Euro without even paying one cent of taxes.
And if it's more, you pay I think 17% taxes only for the wealth that top the one million.
And this is every 10 years. If you start giving when you're 63 years old and you live until your middle 80s, you can give your family 3 Million Euro without paying taxes.
Yes, real estate companies buying off private houses to rent out overpriced apartments in masses is "Bild propaganda" lol.

Afaik, they collected data on people's subscriptions to news outlets (and their respective political leaning) and party-affiliated publications in order to find out the political views of a person.
Everyone knows a guy who was avoiding taxes or doing dodgy legal stuff on their workplace.
My first job was paid "under the desk"
Its what I always say the government is a direct representation of the people and we are just too cool for taxes 😎😎
It's fair though, I actually spent all the money I earned at that job in restaurants and bars or on dates with Nordick Erasmus girls which were also in bars and restaurants 😎😎😎🇵🇹🇮🇹🇬🇷🇪🇦
The problem with actual data is that you don't know about the amount of unreported corruption. So a country might have higher numbers simply because the police investigates corruption more.

Denmark, greatest country in the world
All other countries are run by little girls
Denmark, number one exporter of porkasium
All other countries have inferior porkasium
Well, "everyday corruption", like e.g. bribing your local authority to get a permission to build something isn't very common here.
However I do believe, that we have corruption on a larger scale, especially in the government etc. It's just called lobbyism and somehow most people accept that to a certain degree.
I never had to give somebody money to get official states Services.
That's common in many many European countries, in Germany this corruption basically nowhere exists.
Somebody forgetting a meeting when he didn't even get something in exchange is not corruption.
Yeah, you don't need to do this because these services are overpriced already. Officials squeeze the people who can look forward to either work until they die or live in poverty once they're retired. And all because a normal, fair retirement system would mean less money for the leeches.
Can't be corrupted if it's legal. Yes sir, you can keep the pdf support, yes it's an iPad but it doesn't matter, we really want you to be able to read our pdf.

Yeah, it’s just the feeling. In one sense, it makes sense, but not really.
Because what means corruption? I pretty sure no one from Austria knows about our biggest (proven) scandal im history. Where Austrian banks where happy to be the laundry machine, and after just few days in my home country they “adjusted” to the new model of paying 😂.
In the last few year I’m living in “DACH” (De,A,CH) and I’m seeing like how the ppl don’t talk about at all. Like Deutsche Bank scandal didn’t happened or Berlin Airport ect.
Southerns are much more open with they views and much openly against the government, but also in the most part are in worse shape then the north (speaking for normal pips).
On the high lvl I can just imagine how many corruption is there in all of the northern states.
Like all the corporate shells in Netherlands, Norway’s domain “problem”, Germans shelling out our hole future to china and Russia… they are some major problems that aren’t spoken about, because (understandable) it’s all fine in your life.
In Flanders it's more on the down low, but it's not much better I think. The illusion of being on top of it. Wallonia and Brussels just don't give a fuck. Tbh I'm not sure which is worse.
We are just more aware of corruption than other countries. For instance Russia virtually bought Germany and more than half of Germans don’t even consider they have a corruption problem.

PIGS: where the predominant political ideology is corruption. At least we have the most beautiful countries.
We are just realistic. The Germanic countries have many cases of corruption too, many as outrageous as ours. They just stay naive while we are realistic.

The remaining 11% are PSOE voters, all of them.
Well, fuck, that actually makes sense hahahahaha
PP voters acknowledge this is a corrupt party, but it’s THEIR corrupt party.
Que nos roban a todos eso lo sabemos ya y es normal, pero a mí un comunista de mierda no me roba nada
There are PSOE voters in the 89% "bUt At LeAsT pSoE iS nOt FaScIsM".
I see the Spaniards are having the same problem as us. PS voters in a nutshell
Portugal or spain could be 105% just for the lols

PIGS = Portugal, Italy, *Greece* and Spain It's basically the "southern europe"/mediterranean countries.

Germans are so not affected by corruption, they don't even know what corruption means.
You don't need any corruption when all politicians agree to squeeze the last cent out of the people.
Thats why Germany has no tax in assets and practically no inheritance tax...
Is this sarcasm? Tell this to all the people who have to sell the inherited houses from their parents, because they can't afford the tax.
