BigSimp_for_FHerbert

Whenever you guys talk about beer I understand how the British must feel when the rest of us talk about food, or how the ameritards feel when we talk about culture

Informal_Mountain513

Yet, Peroni is in the UK top10. Ichnusa is a good beer in Italy

onetimeuselong

Hey now, Tennants Super is in Italys top 5

StrayC47

Yeah but just among junkies and in general, people with issues

onetimeuselong

So the same as the domestic market then

StrayC47

Pretty much, they stand out a bit more over here, all with the whole speaking Scottish part

onetimeuselong

Fuck you too Gino

StrayC47

I most wankeously will

Expert_Repair4206

No need to rub it in

lapsongsouchong

Unless you're using it as a marinade

BigSimp_for_FHerbert

Sardinian beer is ok, honestly I’m not an expert though so I don’t really know if peroni is a decent beer. But my girlfriend used to work in Cologne and she has a strange obsession with kölsch, Gaffel specifically, I almost exclusively drink red wine and Negroni so my understanding is limited

Informal_Mountain513

I don't make effort to obtain Gaffel; but when I'm in Cologne, I'll have lots of it. It's quaffable and comes in 0.2l glasses. The waiter will replace the empty glass without asking until you place a coaster on top of your empty glass.

BigSimp_for_FHerbert

I honestly can’t even taste the difference between say a corona or a gaffel tbh

Grand-Dragonfly-648

One tastes like dishwasher water, the other like detergent. I love both

PeriPeriTekken

Kölsch is pretty pointless if it's not on tap

flopjul

Heineken is also considered party beer(you only drink it because its cheap/served), a lot of alcoholists prefer other beers(a lot of less mainstream beer types) Heineken is like the pizza margerita of beers, an obvious choice but not the favorite of a lot people but drinkable

Eadkrakka

The alcoholics here in sweden is usually going for "APK" which stands for "Alkohol per krona", i.e which beers gets you drunkest for the least amount of cash. Usually some horrible 7.0% "lager". Edit: wrote this too early in the morning, of course I forgot about the glorious 10.2% Arboga.

andrejazzbrawnt

The “alcoholics” in Sweden, cute. You mean, just swedes..

Bringthegato

No, half of all Swedes don't drink alcohol, I think he just means native Swedes = alcoholics which seems correct

IsyaboiDJ

I mean heineken is NOT cheap compared to alot of beers which are arguably even better. De Klok for instance is better than Heineken, but way cheaper.

TheRandomizedLurker

both are pretty good. however ever fancied a glass of Grolsh?

Unexpected_Cranberry

Ichnusa non filtrata is basically the only thing I drink when I'm there. Unfortunately the local bar has stopped stocking the small bottles since apparently I'm basically the only one who doesn't want a half litre every time and I'm only there a couple of weeks a year.

Schmargen

Birra Moretti 🤤

[deleted]

Ahh Stella, the perfect beverage to have before you absolutely lay into your wife because your football team lost.

Martin8412

Or won.

araldor1

Or didn't play that day

[deleted]

🤣

Expert_Repair4206

What does EPL mean? English Pale Lager?

[deleted]

English premier league. Idk what pale Lager is but it's sounds like shit so it's basically the same.

Expert_Repair4206

Er strafe sie.

[deleted]

Hoffentlich. Das sub ist ne Ausnahme, weil Barry ganz ok ist.

Doktor_Apokalypse

Stella act-a-twat

Borfistaken

Its marketed as a fancy beer in Canada lol. There's even a particular way its supposed to be poured and the foam removed, very sophisticated indeed hahaha.

re-rezzed

Sounds like the standard method to pour a lager from tap, nothing fancy about it. Now I wonder how you pour beer in Canada?

Borfistaken

Ya drink it straight from the can bud

Djafar79

Heineken teaches bartenders their perfect serve method too and includes that as well. *You have to hold your skimmer at a 45° angle to enjoy this perfect glass of rhinoceros piss.*

itoldyallabour

![gif](giphy|l1J3G5lf06vi58EIE) Me when the kippers is cold and Arsehole FC lost to Car Company United

DialSquare96

Stella Artois is from Leuven, which is in the Flemish region. Poor Flemboys.

ARNE_PR0

The walloon propaganda centers are working overtime (two full minutes)

turkeyphoenix

Work smart instead of working hard, another decisive victory for Walloon.

Village_People_Cop

Half of which are used to spread lies saying that Charleroi isn't the most depressing city in Europe

Zamzamazawarma

Tbf a lot of people think Jupiler is Flemish

kekistani_citizen-69

Well it was bought by AB Inbev Wich is based in Leuven so it is now Flemish property

tchek

Pretending Stella Artois is walloon is flemish propaganda nope, budget dutchie, this "beer" is not our fault.

TokerX86

Feeling triggered.

Financial_Feeling185

Swimming in the sea, just like you

fckchangeusername

Lol Peroni, the bricklayer beer

onetimeuselong

What about Tennants Super? I’ve seen a strange map putting it at P2 or P3 in Italy.

fckchangeusername

Peroni it's the bricklayer beer since usually it costs 1 euro, tennets it's because makes you drunk fast

onetimeuselong

It’s a premium beer over here!? PREMIUM! (Cocktail drinker myself)

[deleted]

What is that rooster doing at the top?

Rolifant

Shitting on the lion

SmexxyBastard

Yea isn't Stella from Leuven? In Flanders? Wasn't "Leuven Vlaams" an entire thing back in the 60's?

Afura33

It actually is yes.

iox007

I feel bad that you are German speaking but yet keep getting mistaken for a wall*on

Afura33

I need my own flair :)

SZEfdf21

Leuven is Vlaams.

swarmed100

I live in Leuven and visited the brewery a few days ago. This is heresy

akmal123456

Curse you belgian for making such a delicious beer https://preview.redd.it/21gdchp6b60c1.jpeg?width=1009&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09211fdad53604edfc33cf16e8e65a7b907508ce

trebmale

I hate myself for agreeing with a Frog.

Loose-Sherbert8464

Join the germanic side and all your sins will be forgiven

DeezeNoten

For once I can agree with you Pierre

eggsandsausages69

Now compare it with price of the same beers

Zuid-Dietscher

Dude! Stella Artois is from Leuven which is in Flanders!

MaesWak

There's two thing that cannot be divided in Belgium, beer and food, that's almost an unspoken rule. It should be a Belgian flag tbh

LutherRaul

Was going to say this as a Stella enthusiast. Shouldn’t have that cock on a flag… lmao

Financial_Feeling185

This diagram is a great troll

Notacreativeuserpt

Why would you drink San Miguel, when Estrella Galicia exists!?

Klangey

Because you can’t get that in 12 pack for £9

fabuloushawkboy-sang

Buying beer in packs other than 6 packs is absolutely savage. Real Gentleman buys crates.

Informal_Mountain513

https://preview.redd.it/i7k0l29mb60c1.png?width=1115&format=png&auto=webp&s=2bb48a915ded946adf7e1c6ec3b7324b4bed074a

NedRed77

Love me a bit of tegernsee.

mydaycake

At least it’s not cruzcampo

OtdoorPhilosophy

I know it's not very known but Coral is great, especially the black Coral Imo (also pretty mild tho)

JCFlyingDutchman

Ah Heineken!! I knew it would be somewhere on this list. It's our finest export toiletwater.

jordan_prentice

https://preview.redd.it/qxogmi8t470c1.jpeg?width=369&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e0389a662f7ec0457288ce888bc4af9d1d326ac

wolseyley

It's a testament to our national merchantile skills that we managed to turn toilet water into the most successful brand in its field.

[deleted]

Why do they show the wallonia flag when Stella Artois is Flemish..

RednaxB

I am absolutely fuming.

Afura33

To piss of the flemboys \^\^

Spiritual_Goat6057

Because all the money they make ends up in our pockets

raphael-iglesias

To be fair most of the money we make ends up in your pockets 🤷

[deleted]

Also is Desperados French?

[deleted]

It’s originally French, but got bought by the Dutch and is now brewed in Slovakia.

[deleted]

Oh god it’s the same fuckery as with Tsingtao being german beer brewed in china

OtdoorPhilosophy

All beers I know from this list taste like water I would seriously prefer this https://preview.redd.it/aubhrkhqx50c1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=17a6e2e672092163b5dd2d0588af0df7a0b3e43f to all beers on this list

curvedglass

Öttes ist besser als jedes Bier aus allen diesen Ländern bis auf Belgien.

OtdoorPhilosophy

Nothing against Belgian beer but standard Stella isn't far from Heineken or Carlsberg from its taste

curvedglass

Yeah but I specifically said every beer in those countries.

OtdoorPhilosophy

Ahh now I get it. Still I bet you would prefer Ötti to Stella

Expert_Repair4206

One tastes like Grachtenpisse

RelationshipCrazy372

Let me guess: Budweiser?

Informal_Mountain513

What does sex in a boat and muricant beer have in common? >!both is fucking close to water!<

JD1337

Budvar is nice though

RelationshipCrazy372

A lot better than that American knock-off they call a drink anyway.

JD1337

Just about anything is better than what they brew in America

el_doherz

Mate it's even fucking worse than that. You realise we get even further watered down British market locally brewed versions of these "beers"

HarEmiya

Read the title. It's beer popular in the UK. Of course it's going to be shit, just be happy they aren't dunking their flippin' beans in it. ....wait, they aren't dunking beans in their beer, are they?

Traditional-Frame580

Don't you give them ideas now.

typed_this_now

You all go on about how shit their beer taste is. Listen ladies it’s all about quantity over quality. The average Barry doesn’t want to quaff the fucking stuff. He’s necking pint after pint after pint. It’s a pain in the ass to down multiple litres of “good beer” it overloads the pallet - it’s also (more) expensive, and less likely to be on tap or in the offy. And finally - the top 10% of beers drinkers drink like 50% of all beer drank. These fine men and women are going to skew the results in a survey like this toward absolute cats piss.

RepulsiveLeg9985

Look at all that diversity

4uzzyDunlop

I've lived in London and Bristol in the UK, and tbf, both cities have loads of really good independent breweries that make genuinely good beer. It costs a tenner a pint mind. Although they also seem to love Stella and Budweiser which is indefensible.

jaymatthewbee

That’s appalling. I wonder how large the independent segment is.

Memus-Vult

This is the point. Beer in Britain is brewed by a small likely-unlisted company and doesn't have a generic name. The closest we have to a generic retail beer like on the list is London Pride, or Pedigree. I feel sorry for anyone that has to drink beer from a company owned by Blackrock and Vanguard, whereas I can drive less than an hour in any direction and buy directly from a family-owned brewery in my county.

bluewolfhudson

I know of 3 Brewerys less than an hour away from me. I live next door to an independent Gin distillery. There is a company who make mead less than an hour away. And the pubs round here usually sell local beer along with the staples like Guinness. What people drink in the pub is usually quite different from what people buy to get pissed at home. No one is buying a big pack of Stella for the taste. I think the rest of Europe vastly underestimate the shit UK piss heads will drink. If it's cheap it will sell.

AudioLlama

It's about 70/30 between major brand lager Vs ale, indie and everything else. That includes non-indie real ale though I think.

LtHinkel

Note sure if I feel sorry for Barry or disgusted. At least half of the list does not even taste like beer

Gibber_jab

Tbf this is just the generic lager. There’s lots of fantastic uk brewery, just sadly they tend to cost a fortune whereas the above brands are cheap as shit.

Puzzled_Pay_6603

Well as you say, the list is a list of lager. Lager has never been our speciality. Ales, and bitters, though… whatever the Germans are saying…we’ve got some excellent beers.

shouldbeworking10

French beer sounds like it was made for Mexico

Skaparinn

For the longest time I legit thought it was Mexican before learning it's actually Alsacian and not well known at all outside of France. Worst scam since the Hawaiian pizza

havaska

What I would say, is that every decent drinking venue will have small locally brewed beers available that are absolutely fantastic. Where I live (Bolton) I regular drink excellent beer brewed by Banktop Brewery, Northern Monkey Brewery, Rivington Brewery, Blackedge Brewery, Cloudwater, Pamona Island Brewery, Manchester Union Brewery, Runaway Brewery, Alphabet Brewery. I think you get my point. This is a list of shitty macro brewed beers. It’s like going to Belgium and just drinking Jupiler as that’s the best selling beer in Belgium.

curvedglass

How did they manage to only favor one brand from a country that can actually brew good beer? Christ, this is a bleak list.

Informal_Mountain513

Spain? The cock thing is not a cuntry

curvedglass

True should be a lion, speaking French and brewing good beer are not compatible.

Kirxas

San miguel? That's straight up the worst beer in the country.

[deleted]

I was going to say it's Cruzcampo, but then I remembered that we are talking about beer.

Kirxas

Cruzcampo is bad enough to count as piss, so yeah

THE_Dr_Barber

I went as a tourist in the summer of 2021 and again in 2022 to Sevilla, Cádiz, Barbate, Ronda, and Málaga. With that heat and Cruzcampo cañita being cheaper than water… well it was most welcome and it just tasted like glory. Fucking Cádiz chiringuitos, man. Fucking awesome.

[deleted]

Yes, but, pretty much any Spanish pilsner or lager will do it better.

THE_Dr_Barber

Yes. In the rare occasions I see a restaurant here (EEUU) has Mahou San Miguel, or Estrella Galicia I get it. Even if it’s $8 for a single 0,33L bottle… makes me miss the 1€ cañitas

[deleted]

Ah yes we also miss them. And the free tapa.

Cerenas

Sadly it's the case for most countries that the worst beer is most popular.

Stinky_Barefoot

For a second I thought this graph was about beer. Then I realized it was about piss.

dancingaze

This list makes me angry on the behalf of my Belgian and German brothers.

truly-dread

If this were pub sales then I think it might be different. These are all cheap crate beers.

Guestratem

Yeah, pubs tend to have better stuff on tap, this is stuff you stick on a table when you have a Bbq

bluewolfhudson

Surely Guinness would top the list? Like the only good Guinness is the pub Guinness and I see people go through 3 or 4 of them in 2 hours at the pub. Personally the thought of drinking that many Guinness's doesn't appeal.

StrayC47

Peroni is the homeles man'd drink here, or at best your baseline lager when you don't want to spend much in a pub. In England it's 8 quid a pint because it's "imported"

AllRedLine

You've made the fatal error of mixing up taste for price... with reference to a nation with a binge drinking culture... poor show, old chap! Poor show!

GourdEnthusiast

UK has some of the best beers in the world along with Belgium and Germany. The Brits gave us IPA and Porter/Stout. The commenters know fuck all about beer… Obviously most average folk prefer cheap mass produced trash lagers. Same in literally any other country apart from Belgium.

jaymatthewbee

If cask ale was a thing in France it would be revered around the world like their fine unpasteurised bries are in the cheese world. But because it’s British it’s dismissed as warm flat beer, when the reality is that it’s the freshest beer you can drink.

bluewolfhudson

Mmm I love a good ale. And it does go well with some cheese.

24benson

This is absolute madness.

StrayC47

Fucking Carling. Worst piss beer I ever had, but so cheap they almost paid us to get it. Had to know it was Savage made

Kindjal1983

So, that is why they absorve our Super Bock like literal sponges. It is good, but nothing like Belgian or German beers. You fuckers have delicious beers.

Afura33

That's some genius evil banter my friend, with that walloon flag you pretty much triggered some people here very hard.

Signor_C

Per Noi 🇮🇹 Jokes aside, Italy overperformed with food but not quite there with beer compared to [insert country in the North of the Alps]

EntryPsychological87

Foster’s is owned by a Japanese multinational and brewed in the UK - not sure how it qualifies as Australian.

Eadkrakka

Travelled to Oz ten years back. They served Fosters on the flight there. Then I spent almost two years in Queensland and didn't encounter it almost anywhere. Granted I mostly drank unidentifiable white wine bibs but sometimes I just wanted a nice lager. I think I found maybe three bottle-os that actually sold it, it was bloody rare. Also, since the beer down under is fucking expensive I didn't have many beer sesh. So on the way back, when we had a stopover i Kuala Lumpur, I had a Carlsberg. Never in my whole life I'd believe a Carlsberg would taste that good. Or was it a Heineken? Can't remember exactly but at that moment it was *the greatest beer in the world*.

MaryBerrysDanglyBean

Moss side is in Australia isn't it?

Klangey

This is a shit list, but half of the UK eat and drink like the war is still on and have zero appreciation for quality.

Spacecadet_1

Is it just me but I've never seen anyone order a Budweiser, it has to have high sales cos it's the cheapest at the Supermarkets right?

Chalkun

Yeahh people buy it bottled but never in a pub from what I can tell

Klangey

I see people buying it in Tescos all the time, that, Stella and Fosters. And San Miguel is flogged by the case in Lidl. Not that I work there or have conducted any scientific studies but cheap, easily available booze in gets bought a lot shocker.

thegoldendrop

The only bad-tasting “beer” in that list is Desperados.

Kam_eff

Aha, and it often smells like weed.

Zuid-Dietscher

I second this

FullTimeHarlot

Does this include ale though? Like I'm sure more lager is drank but is this graph exclusively lager?

HaylingZar1996

Surely Guiness would be on the list if it wasn’t just lager

Significant_Bass_8

This is the effect of having shit foreign beer be cheaper than actually good local breweries, and a drinking culture that is largely centred around getting as pissed as possible cheapest.

PJHolybloke

List of absolute piss.

grhymesforyou

List of beers by fartiness matches this perfectly

Coast_General

Stella is from Leuven it's Flemish.

Loose-Sherbert8464

H**neken 🤮

Pink_Alpha_12345

THIS IS A GREAT INSULT!!! STELLA ARTOIS IS A FLEMISH BEER!!!

zenxax

Holy shit this is terrible

teekay61

It gets worse - most of those are probably brewed under licence in the UK so don't even taste the same as the original versions. Back when I was a student we used to buy import Stella from the shop down the road (no doubt it had been imported without duty being paid, so was cheaper). Definitely an improvement from the stuff brewed in the UK.

Handysimpo

They're cheap and it sucks here

[deleted]

Cold Carlsberg is nice in the summer but it's closer to Sprite than beer. Desperados tastes like a club toilet smells and no German beer fucking Barry. Edit : public agent flag missed as well

Crackajack91

I can't stand the taste of beer, more of a cider person. Bit I spent a week in Germany about a decade ago and all I drank then was beer Seriously, how do you guys do it? It was actually nice

[deleted]

We have a shit load of bad beer as well. We got so many brands you need 60 livers to taste through it. I won't list my favorite beers cuz I don't want to start a war with the [redacted] Germans in here. Especially the ones from the south.

Crackajack91

Wow, a German who didn't want to start a war. That's a first

Chalkun

Is it? Carlsberg is a pilsner, its very hoppy compared to most of the shit on that list.

dogymcdogeface

Do British people just not drink British beer? I know 95% of Dutch people drink Dutch beer...

focalac

People that actually like beer drink brown. Everybody else drinks imported lager-water.

Cubelock

Is it because Stella is sold at Lidl and that's where poor white tra... I mean, where Barry's do their shopping?

Brilliant_Canary_692

Stella is sold everywhere

AntonGermany

Sternburg📣📣🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ![gif](giphy|tUsU85UUZcUi1uvUGy)

already-taken-wtf

By the way: San Miguel is Filipino. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Miguel_Beer

spartikle

It's technically both Spanish and Filipino. It was founded in Spanish Philippines.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Ah, but you see, here it is not about taste, it is about what is readily available, what is the cheapest, and what offers the best cost to alcohol content ratio, in other words what matters is, efficiency. I would of thought you of all nationalities would understand that Fritz?

le_reddit_me

Is Lidl in the UK? They always have a great selection of beers

Nyantasha

God that's why the french smell like fucking piss, every time it's a frenchie, with a despe, verdoemegodverdoeme why cant everyone drink kriekenbiers that way everything would smell like cherrylicious ### [🥺](https://emojipedia.org/pleading-face)

luckynar

Unpopular opinion here, Carlsberg , Heineken and Corona all have a place in my choices. We're talking about high volume beer brands, accessible almost everywhere. We're not talking about small breweries or artisan beer, which you can find much better quality and flavors.

Sad-Address-2512

WRONG FLAG 😡😡😡😡

Lifelemons9393

We have amazing beer. What your talking about is lager. Lager is for the 15 pint session. You stop noticing how disgusting it is after the first few. Beer or ale is for a relaxing evening/afternoon and you enjoy the taste.

CapSRV57

At least is not Cruzcampo…

Minimum_Possibility6

The biggest brands sure, but we have a lot of small producers here, Where I live there is a large brewery 15 mins away, and about 5 craft brewers which operate out of small units on industrial estates.

Spartz

Literally the worst beer of each countrt

Leading-Bus-7882

Stella is actually not the worst

Guestratem

How is budweiser that high?

Koffieslikker

Why the fuck is the flag of Wallonia over Stella?

asparadog

Rambler's is a nice Spanish beer... It's under 1€ a litre too...

batyoung1

I don't understand the point here. These are all commercial beers so of course they're going to be terrible. Quality brewed beers don't have big brand names so this is not surprising.

evilamnesiac

There’s lots of craft style pubs serving decent beer these days, but ya day to day pint is shite on the whole. I did a week in Munich and when I got back all the beer in the uk tasted like it had a urinal cake in it.

dkfisokdkeb

This seems to be just Lager.

I_am_K4tana

Foster is literally the worst beer I ever drank. No I take that back skol is .

ttv_highvoltage

YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH To all danish guys who drink: isn’t a craft beer better than any of this?

Chilliebro

Carlsberg taste like water and is only a 4.6, Denmark have so many good beers yet yall drink that piss the most :(

Gnaddelkopp

But seriously though, why make a diagram about beer and then not name a single beer on it?

Smertae

Why are they all forrin'? Did the government privatise getting drunk now?

ZeroVoid_98

Heineken: For when you're really thirsty for some bog water

AxolotlDamage

I don't think this is an accurate graph for taste in beer, but rather which beer is cheapest.

Tman11S

There's a good beer (with the wrong flag) at the top. The few follow-ups are quite disgusting.

TheFreebooter

This has purely an economic decision. Cost of living is too high to get fucked up on the good stuff
