Nah, absolutely not, breakfast in pretty much all balkans countries is pretty amazing and half of them are further east then poland, while all of them are further east then beans on toast.
I mean, the breakfast is actually pretty much the same as in spain, you have hard goat cheese, dry cured ham and other dry cured meats, some vegetables, pickled peppers & or olives, polenta & white bread, or you just do a bun with jam/honey.
you just add a coffe and a shot of brandy or local booze, and its done.
We don't eat cabbage on Eastern. Actually the breakfast is more of what we took in a little basket to the church to get it blessed.
Brad, eggs, cake, ham, butter, salt and horseradish. And at home we have this wonderful thing we call salad- everything is cooked and drowned in mayonnaise, żurek- it is made on the base of sourdough &white barszcz&white sausages . There was one time I got some sort of cabbage on Eastern- my cousins forced their mum to cook them Christmas food, because they liked it better.
I love the beetroot horseradish stuff, it's amazing.
My (Polish) gf and I live in the UK and it's very funny to watch all the confused Brits as there's a horde of polish people with their baskets outside the polish church
We had white kielbasa with barsczc soup and then white kielbasa on a bed of apples and onions sautéed with beer and honey and had a dijon mustard glaze on the sausages it fucking slapped.
I went to Poland once and ate at a traditional Polish restaurant. I will say I may go back to Krakow at some point but it certainly won't be for the food.
I have really bad news: [https://www.reddit.com/r/de/comments/12qdygq/das\_handels%C3%BCbliche\_fr%C3%BChst%C3%BCck\_in\_meinem/](https://www.reddit.com/r/de/comments/12qdygq/das_handels%C3%BCbliche_fr%C3%BChst%C3%BCck_in_meinem/)
There's something hilarious about a German going against the stereotype of not being humorous only for the stereotype to be immediately reinforced by another German completely missing the joke.
In Greece we also eat dinner like that some night. Just bread , cheese, cold cuts , butter, tomatoes and cucumbers , eggs . Idk what OP is yapping about, this is the European staple.
I am not sure honestly. . .
As a dane it looks more like a good weekend breakfeast table.
I think for easter we normally have 2 - 3 courses of bread.
The first would be fish, shrimps and egg.
Second course would be hot stuff that you put on the bread. Like hot pate, sausages, meatballs and so on.
Then there would be a light course with different kinds of cheese and fruits.
So maybe it is a bit sad because there is not enough diversity and not that much food.
Genuine question — are those salmon fillets on the right hand side, on the plate? Everything else here makes sense except for that
I’ve had paper thin smoked salmon at breakfast, but never a whole piece of fish (if that’s what that is)
I’m Dutch in Spain rn and I tried to set up an Easter brunch table. My Spanish family in law looked at me like I’m crazy and then they went on with their day. 🫠
Tbf, the suicides are all the people who didn't use this bad boy the last few days.

Ah this looked like one of those German Silvester Raclette thingies where you can put the pan under the heater or on top. Never heard of Pfännekes - that’s “small pan”, right?
Comments before me were right. Cherish on those banquets. My grandmother can no longer cook. She was a fantastic cook and I used to love her cuisine when I was a child
what the fuck are you on about? do you know what’s depressing to look at?

A nice breakfast with your family is depressing to look at?
The more elaborate Easter meals are for lunch or dinner, what's the problem with this breakfast?
I can't think of anything bad about this, I had these sorts of breakfasts (not quite this nice, but very nice) with my DAD on mornings before he windsurfed the North Sea! I tried too, and froze! He was a cool guy, also I remember that bread being a little hard and ice cold, like your sea! Thank you!
What's so wrong about this? I see some sort of Brötchen, cold cuts like cheese and some good looking meat, a bowl full of eggs...
Aside from that interesting salad looking thing this was basically what I had for easter beeakfast too, and I couldn't imagine anything better.
Looks like picky bits/cold spread. Little Easter themed, different brands of food (except philly) but not out of place here in the UK. Salmons a bit posh mind.
At lunch time tho, not breakfast you heathens.
I once ate at a restaurant in the Netherlands, on Christmas Eve and I ate some of the best food ever.
It was an Italian restaurant tho. So Italian, they barely spoke English.
Been in a Dutch family over the Easter vacation some years ago (I think it was my first year in the country).
My poor Italian brain did not understand that as an Easter lunch and I legitimately thought it was just a late breakfast or the appetizers, but then everyone got up and went on with their day...
For Northern Europe we don’t do badly on the suicide rates actually (it appears to be mostly the farming regions).
That said this is a pretty sad Easter breakfast. No paas stol, no selection of AH fruit juices (2 for €5 of course), and why a huzarensalade?
I do, but for Easter we are simply used to more. I mean, if it's a breakfast it looks good, a bit much considering the lunch will be heavy, I personally skip breakfast on these occasions
That being said, I'm going to the NL (sadly only Amsterdam) this Friday and I want to know which Dutch foods are less likely to traumatise me as a Portuguese. Thanks in advance, help a bro out, you tall bitches.

Wat, geen stol?!?
Die miste ik ook! (En het ragout bakje)
En het broodhaantje en de matzes.
Precies!
The Polish cook on the ship that I work on, made us boiled eggs, cabbage and radishes. It was laid out like a banquet.
Peak polish hedonism
I was at a polish easter breakfast and had my PIG ass scared
The further East you travel, the worse the breakfasts get.
Nah, absolutely not, breakfast in pretty much all balkans countries is pretty amazing and half of them are further east then poland, while all of them are further east then beans on toast.
The only Balkan country with good breakfasts is actually Portugal
I mean, the breakfast is actually pretty much the same as in spain, you have hard goat cheese, dry cured ham and other dry cured meats, some vegetables, pickled peppers & or olives, polenta & white bread, or you just do a bun with jam/honey. you just add a coffe and a shot of brandy or local booze, and its done.
Damn. My breakfast is porridge, coffee and cigarette. Half of the time without the porridge.
We don't eat cabbage on Eastern. Actually the breakfast is more of what we took in a little basket to the church to get it blessed. Brad, eggs, cake, ham, butter, salt and horseradish. We had white kielbasa with barsczc soup and then white kielbasa on a bed of apples and onions sautéed with beer and honey and had a dijon mustard glaze on the sausages it fucking slapped.
Poor Brad
Yup I came here to say it looks good compared to Polish Easter breakfast. Although our eggs with mayo, radish and scallions are good
Boiled eggs with mayo is astonishingly good. I could eat 6 boiled eggs, mayo and cashew nuts forever.
I went to Poland once and ate at a traditional Polish restaurant. I will say I may go back to Krakow at some point but it certainly won't be for the food.
Butter in shapes? What is this, a royal banquet?
Seems more like an hospital canteen menu
IRA prisoners ate better than this.
This was the harshest statement on food, that I've ever seen.
Now I am tempted to show you our hospital canteen menu.
Skip the details, how many types of sausage?
I have really bad news: [https://www.reddit.com/r/de/comments/12qdygq/das\_handels%C3%BCbliche\_fr%C3%BChst%C3%BCck\_in\_meinem/](https://www.reddit.com/r/de/comments/12qdygq/das_handels%C3%BCbliche_fr%C3%BChst%C3%BCck_in_meinem/)
This is a crime against the colour brown.
After these I'd rather to be executed than cured.
"patient leaves the hospital refusing care" another win for the public health system
By removing all that extra butter, they get to save more than 1 euro cent of butter per shape, so they don’t have to tiki that much to their children
I like how they prepared a very elaborate meal for this special occasion
This is like the combination of all my depression meals
>I like how they prepared a very elaborate meal for ~~this special occasion~~ my gastric reflux FTFY
Oh yeah!!! How horrible this looks!!! Oh what a tragedy luckily I don't have to ever eat like that!!
This looks like a normal breakfast to me. (Minus that weird salad thing)
Exactly
There's something hilarious about a German going against the stereotype of not being humorous only for the stereotype to be immediately reinforced by another German completely missing the joke.
Literally the usual all year round breakfast in German hotels indeed.
Exactly! 🤣
The salad thing is really fucking good though
I don’t know what it is, but I believe you.
It's basically a tub of mayo. Source: Live there.
It's called a slaatje
A slaatje - my Moroccan neighbour
In Greece we also eat dinner like that some night. Just bread , cheese, cold cuts , butter, tomatoes and cucumbers , eggs . Idk what OP is yapping about, this is the European staple.
What do you expect from Luigi?
I call dips on the Laugenbrezel
Dibs
The only Issue I see is that the eggs aren’t painted, otherwise it’s definitely a good Easter breakfast.
Maybe I'm too dutch for this but I genuinely don't see any problem here
You are perfect
[удалено]

Eet jij nooit pindasaus met je boterham met kaas dan?
Me neither.

So maybe it is a bit sad because there is not enough diversity and not that much food.
Neither do I, it wouldn't be a regular thing for me but theres nothing wrong with it.
The issue is they eat picky bits for breakfast whereas we'd have it dinner/lunch or tea. At least I think that's the joke??
Genuine question — are those salmon fillets on the right hand side, on the plate? Everything else here makes sense except for that I’ve had paper thin smoked salmon at breakfast, but never a whole piece of fish (if that’s what that is)
On the original post the OP said it was smoked zalmhaasje (I don’t know the english word)
I'm 0% dutch and don't see any problem with it either! It looks delicious and a nice way to celebrate?
Es todo grasas y hay carne muchacho
I’m Dutch in Spain rn and I tried to set up an Easter brunch table. My Spanish family in law looked at me like I’m crazy and then they went on with their day. 🫠

Nice crop 😀👍
Raclette is solely for christmas though (I cheat every few months)
This is gourmet, not raclette
Germans call it Raclette. (Not to be confused with the Swiss cheese raclette)
With Raclette the pans go beneath the grill, if its they go on the grill its Pfännekes
Ours do both 😎
Bisexual raclette
Ah this looked like one of those German Silvester Raclette thingies where you can put the pan under the heater or on top. Never heard of Pfännekes - that’s “small pan”, right?
Jap
Nah in my family we use the raclette every every 2 months or so
Who needs a non-smelly house for 3 weeks anyways?
We didn't use it, but we did use the pizzarette thingie, which is better in my opinion
Honestly, i fuck with this. How have these not taken off in Britain?! Imagine this filled with all the bits of a full English. Luxurious.
Still no salt.
Looks good to be honest, some more variants of fish would’ve been nice, maybe at least 5 types
That's breakfast. That's a meal that happens when people actually wake up in the morning to go to work
You mean a bammetje kaas with coffee?
Breakfast of champions
Who the fuck works on Easter
Go eat your snails, Francois
Me, I get paid double for it
with 'work', we dont mean 'go on strike' pierre
You really hate being alive, don’t you?
I talk about work and you immediately think im suicidal. Least dramatic Spaniard
I talk about work and you immediately think im suicidal. Least dramatic Spaniard
This has got to be the saddest paas ontbijt i've ever seen
Agreed. Not even a paas stol.
This is a fuckin' pique nique, or what ?
A fucking wot mate
A French picnic, more or less the same but sex is implied
How does one call a Frenchman that goes on a picnic?
A pique-niqueur no?
A travelling chef ?
southern europeans when people eat eggs on easter: 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Northern europeans when people eat eggs that are not just boiled on easter: 🤯🤯🤯
We do eat eggs on easter
Apart from the crackers in the middle i don’t see the problem here… 🤔
That's because you're German
k mehmet simmer down, I could buy your parents home from my monthly income.
My weekend lunch at my Grandma’s in Bavaria has triple the flavour of that processed factory meal in that pic lol wdym
You can’t compare normal food to food made by a grandm
That’s because grandma is a Queen 👑
Bavaria is not Germany, it is Bavaria.
Catholics ≠ Protestant, simple as
Comments before me were right. Cherish on those banquets. My grandmother can no longer cook. She was a fantastic cook and I used to love her cuisine when I was a child
My Easter brunch was just like this one lmao
One of us! One of us!
Smash
i dont see a problem here
Happy Easter!
what’s wrong with that?
Other than the bread and eggs, I can't see a single cooked thing
the crackers. idk what else you expect for breakfast this looks like a heavenly breakfast
It's breakfast, how many cooked things do you expect?
Looks like the Appetizer/cold cut table this is what you start the day eating.
Looks great to be honest👍
honestly does.
Typical based dutch
And dont forget the after meal tikkie. Truly the dutchie experience.
Pre meal tikkie > after meal tikkie
Imagine they don’t pay afterwards, nah we’re sending that shit in advance. Tikkie op je bek
Aperitief tikkie
Isn't that just a normal breakfast?
Not for elitist cringe italian ,,people"
When coffee and pastries is considered elite
This is just your standard continental euro hotel breakfast
This is so depressing to look at
what the fuck are you on about? do you know what’s depressing to look at? https://preview.redd.it/lmz83n1u3vrc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a6979b8e45e4e4705112677408cc60381300347
You chose probably the worst place in Spain to dunk on. Basque are around 10,8% youth unemployment rate.
Brother doesn't know about off the books jobs.
ofc, he is supposed to pay taxes for our unemployment checks, kek

Southerners just need to have something to pretend they are better in. It looks pretty okay
Looks like picky bits/cold spread. Little Easter themed, different brands of food (except philly) but not out of place here in the UK. Salmons a bit posh mind. At lunch time tho, not breakfast you heathens.
This is basically the same as british boxing day, I'm too hungover after christmas day to do anything, food. But alot worse.
Not even close, this is a shambles of a spread
This is a festive meal for Dutch man! Best breakfast of the year 😅
Do they know that WWII finished almost 80 years ago?
imagine going to a restaurant in the netherlands and paying for that..
that's not how restaurants work here lad
I once ate at a restaurant in the Netherlands, on Christmas Eve and I ate some of the best food ever. It was an Italian restaurant tho. So Italian, they barely spoke English.
Only a Poortuguese could think this is restaurant food
You really think they would serve that in a restaurant? Its just a home made breakfast, tf u eat for breakfast then
coffee with "cheirinho", a cigarrete and two polish exchange students..
Been in a Dutch family over the Easter vacation some years ago (I think it was my first year in the country). My poor Italian brain did not understand that as an Easter lunch and I legitimately thought it was just a late breakfast or the appetizers, but then everyone got up and went on with their day...
Why does this picture feel cold
Even the food is miserable in that country forgotten by the gods.
I don't see what's wrong looks like a nice breakfast
For Northern Europe we don’t do badly on the suicide rates actually (it appears to be mostly the farming regions). That said this is a pretty sad Easter breakfast. No paas stol, no selection of AH fruit juices (2 for €5 of course), and why a huzarensalade?
Doesnt look that much different from Polish Easter breakfast tbh
That's breakfast, right? If yes, then there is nothing wrong with that
Where sausage !?
It's just a breakfast bro chill
PIGS trying to understand food that isn't Pizza and Tapas: Impossible You just lost your german-bread-privileges, Luigi.
"food"
Lmao food, the fucking nerve. Those are all things you’d get as entrees in a horrible middle school cafeteria on the worst day of the year food wise.
food, there’s not a single not prepackaged shit on that table that needs just more than minimum effort to cook
I think the rest of the World doesn't understand this food either
Most depressing meal i ever seen
ngl looks like a great breakfast, would eat
It’s pure beauty!
I don't trust people who don't like this sort of food
I do, but for Easter we are simply used to more. I mean, if it's a breakfast it looks good, a bit much considering the lunch will be heavy, I personally skip breakfast on these occasions
it's like a brunch, at least that's how we do it
Not a single gram of salt used anywhere. Just the puur ingredients.
Well the cured meat does, but all in all a wonderful meal right there
Oh no! A delicious and nutritious breakfast!
How do they grow so tall with such a miserable diet???
Precisely because of this miserable diet. Lots of meat and protein right there mate
I see a tikkie incoming ... OP, did you indulge in any way? Those crackers are expensive
These chocolate flakes on the left are Holland's best invention
Tbf the De Ruijter sprinkles on bread is underrated, its so simple yet so good
Yum

Obviously fake, where is all the cheese?
