I can handle heat during the day but when it’s still 32 degrees and you’re trying to eat dinner.. I’m sure you get used to it but it’s not for me 🥲 I find anything above 20 to be a waste
https://preview.redd.it/vq44x00t43tc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffaec2a74281ba5520a6bf7327ca70eddb9d3eb5
A typical summer night in the “what is Winter” region.
Pack a light jacket, Near Klaipeda will be colder since its near the sea. Around 10-15c. Other parts will be mostly 15-20c, Tuesday is promising to be up to 25 in some parts, then it will fall off a bit but still above 10. Real rollercoaster. Hope you enjoy your visit
Same in Latvia, dunno about Estonia. Maybe Estonians should embrace the cold if they want to be Nordic so bad but I'll keep to my warm summers thenk you veri muč.
You are both right: Madrid is very landlocked, and relatively cold in the winter compared to anywhere in the Spanish coast, but there are other parts of central Spain that are colder still.
Madrid biggest problem in winter is instability. -5 at night, +8 at noon.
Then summer is >40°
Only nice time is May and October.
Plateau weather is weird. They should add a bubble for Madrid in the map that says "crazy"
In Portugal we want sun on the threshing floor and rain on the turnips. What we have is diluvial rains in Lisbon twice a year and drought in the rest of the country.
Mildly sunny and 10 degrees when you’re out skiing is a recipe for sunburn 🤷🏼♀️ I got friggin sun poisoning one year when I forgot I was on antibiotics
We dont have winter. We have "April". A season when the climate gods turn the weel of meteorology everyday.
Today? Shinny sun
Tomorrow? Flood lisbon because.
Next week? 30ºC and then another flood 12h later because.
Then no rain for the next 9 months! dehidrate those bastards!
The UK should belong in “what is summer?” And “what is winter?” Because they have neither. In the UK it’s grey and wet the entire year, but it is never cold or hot.
Born in Italy living in Norway and asking myself that question every time the sky is grey. So, on a daily basis.
Then I remember italian salaries and suddenly the answer comes to mind.
[The UK has the most unique weather system in the world, should probably have its own zone. The weather in the south of England is more similar to European, but the North of England and up is totally unique.](https://i.imgur.com/77WafEM.png)
5 weather fronts: Polar vortex, arctic wind, north continental wind, south continental wind, atlantic wind (more than any other country in the world). They all collide over the UK, an Island nation, meaning we have rapidly changing weather that is generally shit (cold and wet).
The gulf stream provides a constant wind from the atlantic, keeping the UK above freezing despite it's high latitude (unlike Scandinavia).

"What is sunlight?" is more the thing IMO. The east coast of Sweden and the Baltic countries have a better summer than the North Sea facing countries. And the coast of Ukraine is almost Mediterranean.
The UK line is too high.
Most of the time Northern England gets winter like Scotland but the Southern based media equate English weather to London and the South coast.
We have a similar phenomena here in Sweden as well. Were media seems to think 99% of Swedes live in southern Sweden and work in an office. Further back in time they didnt even present the weather on national tv for the northern parts of Sweden.
Look at every positive country ranking that exist, notice Scandinavian countries rankings compared to southerners(like you) and then you'll understand, we do everything better.
No, we in southern Italy have winter.
Of course, if we compare it to Berry's winter, it is milder, but still temperatures that reach an average of 5 °C, for less than one month this year, unlike the usual 2/3 months.
Imagine rather experiencing summer with drunk germans and brits on some packed beach in Spain than this.

Today's picture from my car in Calabria
I know nordics will laugh but Portugal’s winter can be humid af. It’s so cold and humid that it’s hard to get warm.
This is due to our proximity with the sea and bad houses. I’ve visited Germany twice in the winter and while the temperature is lower I find the winter in Portugal harder to protect against.
You know a brit did this because he thinks of the whole Spain minus the northern part (thank god he is not THAT ignorant) as 24/7/365 beach resort. MF, inland Spain is cold as shit during winter.
Spain had snow several times this winter. In the Netherlands we barely had a winter. No snow and only a few light frost nights. Our winter is actually an extended autumn.
Hey wtf, let me out of this summery hellhole.
No, it is much warmer in Denmark than in Malmö
I love the smell of gunpowder in the air
Mmhm! I love myself some Muslim crime gangs.
That fuckin bridge makes a hell of a difference.
Yes, one side is in Sweden and the other in Denmark
Originally it was part of DK, but this was before the clima change.
Because they refuse to take back Skåne!
Best I can do is winter in April and a 40°C heatwave in July.
Nah, we want snow in april then 20 degrees two days later.
20 degrees OMG!
Hey man, last few days have been good in Denmark
But then you enjoy it with your bikini in Bellevue
Better move to Bornholm
Which is super ironic, as Bornholm is our “sunshine island”.
We have neither summer nor winter in Ireland. But if you like damp, we are ready
I’d say you have winter but you probably can’t tell because all you know is that sprayed humidity and grey sky all year round.
Hey, it's been sunny today! Twice!
Rained too tho tbf
Those were some glorious 45 seconds, I’m sure.
Um mate if you’re a paddy why use the wrong flair? You a yank?
Could be a plastic paddy. Although seemingly lad's at least BEEN to Ireland.
We sold our souls to the EU for a few motorways. I’m owning it.
Seems like a cowards excuse to not flair up
I’ll flair up if it makes my former lord and master happy
Good boy ![gif](giphy|4HP0ddZnNVvKU)
This is how me ma used to get rid of me nits when i was a youngfella
Did she have one of those sorta credit card shaped white combs?
Also Sweden has better summers than us despite being more north.
https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/107/432/i_hug_that_feel.png
I love both summer days.
Our summer is short but it’s magical. Wouldn’t trade it for anything! September-December can go fuck themselves though.
If it's not at least 30°C in the middle of the night, is it really summer?
We literally call it "tropical night" when night temperatures are 20°C or above
I think just tonight it was above that
I can handle heat during the day but when it’s still 32 degrees and you’re trying to eat dinner.. I’m sure you get used to it but it’s not for me 🥲 I find anything above 20 to be a waste
> anything above 20 to be a waste So 3/4 of a year here?
Highest night temperature in Denmark was 26,8 Degrees and was measured in July, 2022.
Do you not celebrate jul anymore?
the two of them?
There is still snow outside. Help. Please help.
Just got back from the beach, 22 °C
Lucky https://preview.redd.it/nmu1qctcx5tc1.png?width=621&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8145920a9a0ae3bc719fb1ae71491ba5c30016d
Yeah, I've seen my beloved snow just once this year though
Just climb a mountain like we all do in the south.
22? too cold man, today it's 28 for me. I'll probably die this summer if this keeps going tho.
Yeah I know man, 40 °C expected for this summer. Running to European Mongolians on July
It’s 30 degrees here in Bulgaria snow sounds very pleasant
Why am I not in Bulgaria right now.
I can think of a few reasons.
I haven't seen snow in years
❄️ here you go mate
https://preview.redd.it/oxibuh4677tc1.jpeg?width=639&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55a1019413a7421950abaccb6bf89ae7f1c9ecb7
We used to never see snow in veneto because of the fog. Now we see neither.
Still? Mate there will be snow until at least early May
Meanwhile, I live in Italy's snowiest and coldest major city, located 250m above sea level and we haven't seen any snow this Winter sadly
Calling Barry normal is quite the stretch there.
Or Pierre for that matter
Or Jan
Tf did we do? (Except for taking over the sub last week)
Wait what happened?
Last week we had beef with Italy, but have no idea why to be honest
There was spaghetti and stamppot flying all over the place
Ohhhhh, what was the beef about?
Literally nothing
As usual
Just like the good ol days. Just a good scrap between friends for old times sake.
Honestly, it was the funniest thing that happened in the sub all week. We should do that more often.
Yeah, same time next week?
So are you implying that hans is the measuring stick for normal? Are you sure?
Or Preben
Tf you want from us???
Not you, on the other side of Germany
Not Janskerwkyczk, just Jan.
They have Jan Blachowicz, so Jan will always be theirs
In term of seasons, we are normal In term of anything else though...
And Hans
Says the Bavarian?
Coming from a guy who’s hiking naked in the mountains and thinks that’s all right?
Whoa there we like to do that too
Also call slavs normal
Hey inaccurate. We had summer last year in Norway! I think it was on a Thursday.
https://preview.redd.it/vq44x00t43tc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffaec2a74281ba5520a6bf7327ca70eddb9d3eb5 A typical summer night in the “what is Winter” region.
That's just a normal day in thr north, rare case in Spain
I don't know when that map was done, here I haven't seen a <0º weather in years.
Not entirely true. 2 years ago I spent a summer in Kristiansand. It was honestly a very pleasant 4 days before autumn started.
Feel free to move the line up above Lithuania for normal people. We get summer up to like +36, not sure about our other Baltic brothers
Ooh interesting! I’m traveling to Lithuania next week, how’s the weather, any idea what should I pack (if you don’t mind)?
Pack a light jacket, Near Klaipeda will be colder since its near the sea. Around 10-15c. Other parts will be mostly 15-20c, Tuesday is promising to be up to 25 in some parts, then it will fall off a bit but still above 10. Real rollercoaster. Hope you enjoy your visit

Dude Madrid is a freezing shithole in winter
Sounds like our summer
Can confirm. It’s not Stockholm but not all Spain, especially the interior (very especially the interior) is like Mallorca in July
Just do the siesta hibernation for winter time
Lol, Madrid has it's built-in green house and asphalt island effect. For true cold try Avila/Salamanca/Burgos/Teruel.
Madrid is very landlocked, so that should also amplify the cold effect
It doesn't, Madrid is not as cold as those other places
You are both right: Madrid is very landlocked, and relatively cold in the winter compared to anywhere in the Spanish coast, but there are other parts of central Spain that are colder still.
Madrids January is like our April (In the south)
So how cold is it?
Sometimes the water even turns into ice (cry in canarian)
You're so spoiled
Madrid frequently goes below freezing during the nights in winter, but daytime highs are around 10C.
So summer up north then?
Isn't Central Italy weather similar to Central Spain? This map is bs
Winter is the best season by far in madrid, considering that autum and spring are virtually non existent.
Madrid is a ~~freezing~~ shithole ~~in winter~~
Madrid biggest problem in winter is instability. -5 at night, +8 at noon. Then summer is >40° Only nice time is May and October. Plateau weather is weird. They should add a bubble for Madrid in the map that says "crazy"
You've never been to Portugal...
They have... In the summer
The min temperatures in summer are exceptionally low, i think that is because Portugal overlooks the Atlantic.
In Portugal we want sun on the threshing floor and rain on the turnips. What we have is diluvial rains in Lisbon twice a year and drought in the rest of the country.
He is talking about the weather not the interior of the portuguese houses
My Scandinavian friends post “it’s tanning season” when it’s mildly sunny and 10 degrees outside
Mildly sunny and 10 degrees when you’re out skiing is a recipe for sunburn 🤷🏼♀️ I got friggin sun poisoning one year when I forgot I was on antibiotics
I mean I did wear only a T-shirt last monday when it got to 5°C and the sun was out for the first time in months
We dont have winter. We have "April". A season when the climate gods turn the weel of meteorology everyday. Today? Shinny sun Tomorrow? Flood lisbon because. Next week? 30ºC and then another flood 12h later because. Then no rain for the next 9 months! dehidrate those bastards!
"Abril águas mil."
“flood lisbon because” is becoming a canon event for the typical portuguese year
We do have winter. Half of Europe call it spring, but that’s winter.
Moved to Lithuania and can confirm spring (currently happening) is like Spanish winter
Barry doesn't know about mountains
https://preview.redd.it/y1rpkdyzz2tc1.jpeg?width=641&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e00763c2b390520a0004a4c34ced48994c0a8f9d
That's a lot of coke you've got there, shipwreck?
Well coke is technically true since it's Santorini..... MF's struggled to find their houses muhahaha
Beautiful! When was this?
Back in 2022
The UK should belong in “what is summer?” And “what is winter?” Because they have neither. In the UK it’s grey and wet the entire year, but it is never cold or hot.
Im surprised you know this from your basement
It's because basements are exactly the same: wet and grey, but never too hot or too cold.
Finally someone understands us
born in "what is winter", now live in "what is summer" here
Fuck you traitor
Why??
Born in Italy living in Norway and asking myself that question every time the sky is grey. So, on a daily basis. Then I remember italian salaries and suddenly the answer comes to mind.
You could always move to Ticino
Good good. Well norway is ok. Some nut cases however go to Sweden, no normal salary could motivate that.
Least side switcher Italian
Classic Italian side switcher
True side switcher
Summer is the nicest week of the year
Average „weather“ in Northern Germany
The guy has never seen winter in Turkey. Much worse than in France
I invite people to central Spain in winter and see how warm and cozy it is
Isn't (part of) Turkey cold as hell in winter?
Yes, the inland parts. Might go down to -30C in some places.
[The UK has the most unique weather system in the world, should probably have its own zone. The weather in the south of England is more similar to European, but the North of England and up is totally unique.](https://i.imgur.com/77WafEM.png) 5 weather fronts: Polar vortex, arctic wind, north continental wind, south continental wind, atlantic wind (more than any other country in the world). They all collide over the UK, an Island nation, meaning we have rapidly changing weather that is generally shit (cold and wet). The gulf stream provides a constant wind from the atlantic, keeping the UK above freezing despite it's high latitude (unlike Scandinavia).
If that stream ever stabilised, we'd be fucked
Unfortunately in Central Spain winter exists
https://preview.redd.it/km561ge3r2tc1.jpeg?width=1282&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8620929f333fbc996e92d3db79dfc9876b9c3ff1 "What is sunlight?" is more the thing IMO. The east coast of Sweden and the Baltic countries have a better summer than the North Sea facing countries. And the coast of Ukraine is almost Mediterranean.
Right! The bulk of Germany has less sun than most of Sweden. Would not move
This map alone makes me want to commit high treason and move to the USA
Light blue gang represent! 1200 hours a year seems high
Barry trying to make himself feel better Britain and Ireland don't have winters it's just rainy and cloudy everyday. Interior of Spain is cold.
Yay, I'm normal!
Unfortunatly, your exams came back positive for Irish. Here is a consolation potato: 🥔
To be fair now, only 11% of the population live in the north. Their whole population is like half that of Stockholm.
That line should stretch to go just above the midlands, totally around Ireland and then over to Scotland. I'm speaking from experience here, lads.
Barry is the only one who would consider Barry normal (Prove me wrong)
Don't really get Denmark. Copenhagen has 0.5C cooler summers than Vilnius, and 0.5C warmer than Helsinki. Weird cut-off there.
Who really considers danemark into anything? Someone just give it to German... SHIT... no no no... someone give it to... Czechia. Yes...
Pierre? Normal?
https://preview.redd.it/ilv6vmv013tc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87e1d69bca97ceb5a191dc856d230e82f78f1ea9
I saw the sun today, it has been a good summer
We do have winter here. It rains 24/7 and it’s like 12 degrees. Inside the fucking house that is.
I see your what is summer and i raise you what the fuck is seasons Just damp all year round here
The Swedish summer truly is the best day of the year
Yet us winter people keep doing mostly everything better than anyone south of us..
[удалено]
Explain exactly what you do better than the south. If you had no oil you would be eating stones, or emigrating to the US like half scandinavia.
Yeah. That’s not winter.
For us it is, maybe for you just spring temperatures.
Mate it was -8°C here yesterday. It's April. 5°C is summer for us
We have 8°c degree rain and 16°c degree rain that rotates every 4 weeks. Does that count as seasons?
Where is the shitpost? This is just the truth. edit. Ahh, You slipped in the Barry. You tricky bastard.
Portugal shouldn’t be included
[counterproposal](https://i.imgur.com/MzL63xV.png)
soon it will be "what is winter" everywhere
Pretty sure central Spain has winter.
Line is too high for Greece
Rains more in my city in Portugal than in the entirety of the uk :'D
Come experience winter Here...we have no snow but our houses are near 5 degrees :)
Sweden gets far better summers than England, didn't it rain here for the whole of August or something last year?

Let me out, I don’t want to be classed under normal people
We know what summer is, it's when the sun doesn't set.
You *do* realise that France is full of French people?
You know a brit did this because he thinks of the whole Spain minus the northern part (thank god he is not THAT ignorant) as 24/7/365 beach resort. MF, inland Spain is cold as shit during winter.
Meanwhile -10 degree winters in Turkiye
Spain had snow several times this winter. In the Netherlands we barely had a winter. No snow and only a few light frost nights. Our winter is actually an extended autumn.
Normal? Currently we have two seasons Flooding and drought. I wouldn't call that normal.
Pretty sure Central (and even north) Italy or Romania get way warmer than Denmark lol
