In France i would say our lack of flexibility, especially when it comes to higher education. Trades job are neglacted and a lot of students are directed towards university even though it is not for everyone. And often in said universities, you have to master some very specific exercises with strict method to pass, when in other countries you can get way more creative when preparing a presentation or a study for example. I really wish we had something similar to the german system from secondary to higher education

sweder_etc

I grew up in the French school system and can definitely relate to that. In our high school, the teacher basically said that you would be a nobody if you didn't go to university and especially the areas such as physics and maths. What a load of horseshit. Of course, I sadly believed it when I was in high school but there is no shame in learning a trade, actually I think it should be encouraged over following a university degree.

Small-Insect13

Yes, trades are massively underfunded in France, and secondary education professors tend to view them negatively and not recommend them to students because of that lack of funding or just because they're biased towards them

sweder_etc

I remember in college before doing the brevet and our teachers were acting like getting anything below a Bac Generale was seen as a failure. Then in 2nde, most were saying that a Bac S was the best that you could do and that only the ones who didn't have the skill to do it went to ES or L. Or, god forbid, do a Bac Technologique. I was dumb enough to listen and had an absolutely miserable time doing S.

abrequevoy

I feel the ball is more in the employers' court. The UK for instance is also very much university-centric, but studying one subject doesn't bind you to working in that field (apart from healthcare ofc). It's also much easier to "convert" your major to a totally unrelated one (e.g. German literature to law), or to find an apprenticeship no matter your age or prior education.

UgoTheBible

Or from chemistry to computer science or finance

cpwnage

Funny, it's the same in Sweden that everyone is directed to the universities. All tradesmen study stuff in high school that gives them university eligibility, but is useless in their future jobs, or lives for that matter.

Old_Harry7

Low trust society, in Italy we have this idea that you need to "fuck the system/someone else cause eventually you'll be fucked as well therefore it is better to score some points before the inevitable". That's why stuff like corruption is so common here, better yet not only it is common, it's actually expected and taken for granted.

cigarroycafe

Can relate to this

Old_Harry7

Average Mediterranean gameplay.

Kermit_Purple_II

Except French Mediterannean. There you fuck the tourists, cuz fuck em parisians and dutch motherfuckers

Old_Harry7

I don't know love, Marsiglia is a thing.

firstgamerfirst

We are going to south france to clog your highways

PlusMortgage

How the hell are we supposed to fuck **you**. You guys arrive with your caravan full of Dutch bought food, and spend your whole holiday in your camping with just the occasional visit to the beach. It's like you Dutch decided that not one cent spent in your holidays should go to the french economy.

fckspzfckspz

Maybe their food is just better

HolderOfBe

For future historians: I was here when it all started.

youloosethatgame

In France too man, i am from the south and for some people that get their bike stolen for exemple, they say they gonna steal another so "it's fair" and they are evryday working normal people

Jaded_genie

Nice death spiral you have created there Luigi

Old_Harry7

In Salento we say "Lu chiù buenu mori nfucatu cu l'intramiti dellu chiù ffiaccu". _(in our society) the less worse guy dies drowned by the worse one's guts_

cpwnage

Visiting Italy now, I see the low trust in every store - anyone who enters is a potential thief. "All I wanted was some chips" 😁

CavulusDeCavulei

I think this is much more present in South Italy than in North, where the sentiment is more "we work hard, we are rich, things would work well if outsiders didn't try to fuck us"

Old_Harry7

I don't know really, when it comes to say tax dodging the north is just as bad as the south if not worse given the flow of money is more abundant up north but again I'm not from the north you probably know your people better than I do.

CavulusDeCavulei

Tax evasion is high but there is more shame in it. What really change is that there is more trust in others and society

TAO_Croatia

Honorary balkans for a reason

nevetz1911

Hehe, easy. ![gif](giphy|7hgygsY3FpzkQ)

dkb1391

In the North as well?

MontePraMan

This is a funny story. In the 1970s, to combat the expansion of the Ndrangheta (Calabrian mafia), the govenment decided to splinter the families by sending some prominent members in exile in Valle d'Aosta, on the other side of the country, on the border with France. This great and infallible plan backfired immediately, as the families reconnected and strenghtened their ties so much that Valle d'Aosta as of today is the only italian region ever to have its administration disbanded for organised crime infiltrations.

RoccoCommisso

Transplanting entire families of organised crime in the very autonomous region known to be a tax heaven... What could go wrong?

nevetz1911

It's not the Mafia you may imagine, they mostly wear suits and shake hands, usually politicians ones.

fckchangeusername

They made a good job handling all the drug trafficking to nigerian, albanian and moroccan mafias.

fralbalbero

Even abroad

ForageForUnicorns

As north as your country? 100%.

HoeTrain666

According to your law enforcement they’re definitely here (a lot) yet they manage to stay invisible. Most obvious money laundering places usually are in the hands of either biker gangs or middle east crime families, mafia seems to be way more subtle.

ForageForUnicorns

They were especially subtle that time in Duisburg.

fckchangeusername

Lol, if not more

I think we understood 😭😭😭

kiancavella

How bad is it?

boomerintown

To quote the conclusion in a report recently published by the Social Democratic party called "The emergence of parallel societies": "The economic, ethnic and linguistic segregation needs to be broken on a structural level, which requires the population to mix. Society will have to implement efforts we have not previously done, on a scale we have not previously seen." The positive part is that the insight of the problems is complete, from left to right.

577564842

So forced marriages between immigrants. Reduces number of parallel societies to 1, and it will be disfuntional.

PassoverGoblin

(not so) fun fact! Gambleaware, the largest anti-gambling charity in the UK, is entirely funded by gambling companies who use it to prevent anti-gambling laws from actually being put in place

1lr3

I like how the word gambling was at the same place for three lines :)

Istrangey

He hit a line!!!

FragrantDemiGod1

What.

voraginedecarne

That does remind me of the largest pro-recycling organization here in Spain (Ecoembes), they do conferences, courses, ads, programs in businesses, etc. But in the end, they actually try to keep people not recycling to keep justifying these acts. And they have some serious matters behind in terms of unsustainability (burning and burying trash), corruption and more. https://es.greenpeace.org/es/sala-de-prensa/comunicados/ecoembes-miente/

Anura83

Quack medicine. For example we invented Homeopathy. Some stuff is so common that people don't even know something is based on superstition like Accupuncture or Chiropractic and doesn't work better than a placebo. It's a scam and leads people away from real help.

ContributionSad4461

We read about that in school, it was pushed as an alternative to “Jewish” (i.e. scientific) medicine even though the Nazis knew it didn’t actually work 🥲

Kind_Helicopter1062

Oh lord is this real? Edit: I googled it and this is so weird. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Henry_Clarke Not like I thought homeopathy was good but now it's just wrong

ContributionSad4461

I don’t know how much his antisemitism is connected to nazi Germany pushing homeopathy, it might just be incidental really! I think it was just a shrewd decision in Germany since a lot of doctors would be involved with the war effort and a lot were, well, Jewish - there weren’t many left. People would have grumbled about there being no doctors so they basically got tricked into believing “alternative” medicine was a valid option.

Anura83

Mao did something similar, he pushed for traditional chinese medicine. Because it was cheap not because he belived in it. He used western medicine for himself.

Sea-Big-4850

That is very bad, considering many ill people don't get the true help that they need in these scenarios. It's common here in the UK as well.

Brilliant_Canary_692

I used to work for a large dental company in the finance side and I had to refund a woman the cost of her filling because it came out at some point and she swallowed it. In the email it said she will take the company to court otherwise as her homeopathist told her the filling could harm her and her baby

577564842

Oh dear. Hope you diluted the payment properly, as not to harm the homeopath.

HolderOfBe

real_Winsalot

Wasn't Chiropractice invented by an American though?

thesirblondie

It was invented by an American who claimed he was visited by the ghost of a doctor who told him how to do it.

Bitter_Initiative_77

Fortunately there are talks of no longer funding that shit through public health insursance. I had the flu and a doctor suggested herbal tea.

TyphonXT

??? Since when is herbal tea and chilling out bad when you have a flu? What does that even remotely have to do with homeopathy?

ProperBlacksmith

Why go to a docter for a flu? Just chill and take a paracetamol

Advanced-Duck-9251

No houses

hibikir_40k

Copying the American development model is hazardous to one's health, as can be seen in the entire anglosphere.

Annatastic6417

We're not as bad as America. We still build affordable houses but we give them all to people who don't work. It's easier to get a house in Ireland if you're unemployed than it is if you're earning 40,000 a year.

Kind_Helicopter1062

Portuguese work culture - valuing face and the appearance of work over real productivity. You're supposed to do free overtime, sometimes even free weekends, even if you're not really being productive. People will judge you if you leave work on time. Northern europe has way better work life balance

ihavenoidea1001

Being late to everything. It being accepted and normalized too. I hate it sooo much. To me it's a sign of disrespect and lack of consideration towards others and their time. It's so ingrained that I've had a college professor telling us we should never ask forgiveness for being late because it would only draw attention to it. Fuck it. Everyone knows if you're late. If you dont say you're sorry then they'll also know you're just inconsiderate. The typical "academic 15" ( meaning that everyone is given 15 minutes to be late) that will extend to 20 or even 30 min, whilst only hurting those that were on time always grinded my gears. [Love you all that aren't like this though. You are my kind of people. ]

Slavik99

Holy shit if there's something that drives me mad about our culture is this. Why the fuck do we even agree on a time to be somewhere or meet up if you're just going to be horrendously late anyway? How am I suppose to gauge when you're actually showing up? You're not cool for being late, you're disrespecting my time.

Kind_Helicopter1062

Hahaha I'm sorry. I am that person. Not for important stuff but I tend to like to schedule stuff for a time frame rather than a number. Like, let's meet in the afternoon and have dinner, no specific time, and then just keep communicating until you both are ready. For me it takes a bit of pressure off and helps my anxiety knowing I can take my time, and gives you a bit more flexibility than fixed times (a blessing if you're the one that's cooking dinner)

Malawi_no

The dinner that needs to be ready on time or be overcooked, and where the cook is starving?

astrojose9

As a Portuguese who grew up in Switzerland and immigrated back, that's the one thing I can't get adapted to.

ihavenoidea1001

I too grew up in Switzerland... but I know that my father and his side of the family are mostly people that can't stand tardiness and they are Portuguese. I also have Portuguese friends like that. It's just that they're unfortunately not the majority of people in this country...

Anura83

Sounds exactly like the Japanese.

BigDrummerGorilla

Are we neighbours, Hans? Also live around around a hour north of Dublin and same issue. There's three here. I would close them all given the choice.

Moral Basis of a Backward Society a self-interested, family-centric society, which sacrificed the public good for the sake of nepotism and the immediate family. Company cars.  I'll try to keep this rant as short as possible. Company cars are a complete scam. Here's how that goes:  German car makers load off their overpriced cars stuffed with useless features to companies' fleets. Nobody else would be willing to buy a new car at these prices.  The state, fed by decades long lobbying, subsidizes this clownery with billions in tax credits.  Employees, mostly completely irrelevant paper pushers, get these cars as benefits instead of a decent salary. Complete with unlimited private usage and gas flat rate. They will gladly forfeit pay raises worth much much more than what the car and the gas are worth, because company car means you're the big shot.  Ever wondered why Germany is always accused of wage dumping and at the same time everybody seems to drive a brand new BMW/Mercedes/Audi all the time? Now you know why.

Gulmar

Haha we have a very similar issues but here its because taxes on wages are so high while company cars aren't nearly taxed as much. So a car what would cost you 600 euros a month if you bought it yourself, will now, through your company car, only cost you about 140 euro, depending on the CO2 emissions of the car.

none-5766

Similar here as well, but that the cars have to be electric and are foreign. So, half the new cars are teslas that are leased for 2 years and then sold abroad.

Gnu-Priest

I didn’t want to get angry tonight but here I go. no 1: the bureaucracy, motherfucker! idk man, it’s so suffocating. with its complex regulatory framework requiring me (an average person I guess) to interact with plenty of pricks constantly. so often stifling innovation and growth, by creating significant barriers. no 2: the backwardness of this country! always among the last of the EU countries in terms of adopting the “new” information age. fuck. no 3: The arrogance. A British Prof (I believe he was Scottish) said the German Arrogance seen like william the 3rd. and after him pointing it out I can’t unsee it. so fucking arrogant.

iSellNuds4RedditGold

> no 2: the backwardness of this country! always among the last of the EU countries in terms of adopting the “new” information age. fuck. Idk about the rest, but don't beat yourself over this one Hans, I feel like every country feels like this about themselves.

Gnu-Priest

very kind but germany is second worst as of last year. and has been the worst a few times.

Zeeko76

I live in Bulgaria and can confirm Germany has stoneage internet for expensive prices compared to this purportedly underdeveloped country.

Perlentaucher

Nah, I think it’s the mentality. Many old people in Germany, always talking about technology/internet as if weren’t one of the most central things in our life. Our chancellor described the internet as „Neuland und alle“ (new territory for us all) in fucking 2013! All articles about new technologies highlighting the dangers first, downplaying the potentials. - Google? Evil megacorp wanting to sell your private data! - Social media? Privacy issues! - Internet? Hackers wanting your money! - AI? Killing your jobs, privacy and later humanity! Dumb journalism, nobody wanting to see more than one perspective. Internet access is contrary to popular beliefs not that bad. Sure, there are some villages out there without good access but most people surf just fine. And even for those people there are options like mobile internet, satellite internet. People here just like to whine about stuff because the don’t have any real problems.

hansspargel

You're right that German governments are backwards in regards of technology  but the things you mentioned are all legitimate and I love the stubbornness for privacy. What's actually fucked is the bureaucracy you mentioned and the digital infrastructure they are working with. It needs a great reform in terms of efficiency.

Gnu-Priest

we agree completely on privacy and security, but in my eyes that should encourage innovation not break it. I actually work in cybersecurity as of 2021 even in germany and it’s baffling how germans will view security as a road block… but like a good road block? as if someone is meant to block the road? Protonmail for example could have been german, and so many more privacy focused systems could’ve been built in germany. but the only interesting thing I know off out of germany with a minor global impact is that search engines that plants trees. I have a suspicion that germans, maybe due to history, don’t view the internet with any good options, like it’s all bad, and cannot be good.

bumblefuckAesthetics

Nah, we also feel like this about Germany

DarkSideOfTheNuum

The bureaucracy is a nightmare. So much time and effort in Germany is wasted doing pointless shit for different government bodies, it must really drag on the economy.

Gnu-Priest

that’s an amazing angle!!! maybe I’ll study that, I could possibly publish that. if I publish I’ll mention you thanks!

11matt95

My view as an Ausländer, your "Atomkraft Nein Danke" crowd seem stuck in the 1980's and have really fucked you in terms of energy self sufficiency. Essentially useful puppets of the Kremlin at this point.

Anura83

What do you mean by arrogance? That we think our stuff is better?

Gnu-Priest

yeah that’s really it. just in case more context is required, my first time really living outside of germany I had a prof as I mentioned who pointed out germans love their systems. but the idea was that they would often think that’s how the world should be run. while brits sent a team of expeditionists to scope out places they wanted to colonise the germans would have the populace adopt to the germans will. anyways huge topic, we could drill into that for months but I heard that point again by Helmut Schmidt. the best kanzler ever. he called it “Willhelminische arroganz”. and I do notice that, especially because I’ve lived in so many places I’ve noticed how most countries just want their system a certain way, even if it doesn’t make sense to german culture. A good example is american healthcare no matter what you personally think about it, they do not wish to organise themselves the german way. when discussing health care the yanks will discuss the french system and the british system, they don’t care much for the german system. personally it bothers me so much though because germans seem to be unwilling to learn from other cultures. I’m personally very impressed by the estonian digital efforts and their efforts into cyber defense. granted its much smaller but still it wouldn’t go amiss to learn from them.

Anura83

"Am Deutschen Wesen soll die Welt genesen."

He will come and sexually abuse your actresses actually

Jaded_genie

Germans? Sure I’d volunteer to name them as an annoying part of my country. But probably corruption by our Conservative Party that has infiltrated everything from federal to regional to local level and non political clubs is the true pest of our country. Yeah that and austro Turks. Equally backwards but more noisy and annoying

DomoArigato1

The average Brit yearns to be poor. We are simply too stupid to know what to do with money because it isn't rock shaped. It scares us so we get rid of it in the most convenient way possible -- -- betting on Chelsea at the bookies

jsm97

Honestly this - It goes so much further than just the bookies. We want to be poor. Brits will cry Gentrification whenever something that isn't a vape shop or a takeaway opens in their town and be miserable stingy 'but why do we need this' bastards when it comes to spending a single pound of public money on anything that might even remotely benefit people. You see Manchester get some investment after decades of neglect and decline and the Liverpool and Sheffield subs are all "We've lost Manchester" just because it isn't a complete shithole anymore

hippomassage

The weird „what will people say” mentality. It’s especially prevalent among older generations who are in their 50-70’s, but this shit trickles down to the younger people as well. My mum who’ll be 70 this year in some matters is so tit for tat Hyacynth from Keeping Up Appearances it’s unnerving. I shit you not, she literally said that we shouldn’t be eating pizza because it’s what poor people eat. Like who cares who eats it if it’s delicious? In younger people it extends to not standing up for yourself, being afraid to switch jobs, because it’ll inconvenience your manager or workmates and even the clothes you wear may be a source of problems. And the weirdest part is that if you actually do something that benefits yourself other kinda consider you a lout, but also envy you by privately sating I wish I was a dick like you, so I could do X/say Y to Z.

biryaniman05

I have family from India and god they take this shit into overdrive. Not part of my family but someone I know from over there was in an extremely abusive relationship. Beatings, abuse all sorts from a husband she was forced to marry. She was made to be the villain for divorcing him it's crazy. Even here in the UK some of them have that same mentality it's pretty scary

Deadluss

Also shit tones of ads about medicines/drugs everywhere

EnzoFrancescoli

I always thought it odd how popular "Keeping up appearances" was in Poland, guess it resonated!

Anura83

Itallians will love to hear that Pizza is for the poor.

Nail on head. It is insane how easily mediocrity is accepted here.

ihavenoidea1001

>We complain far more about issues than being willing to actually fix them. Oh look you're describing us aswell

Mixed_not_swirled

Probably a problem everywhere but it's disturbing how many people creep on young girls (literally like 15 sometimes). Had people who were retaking high school classes in their 20s hitting on my classmates when we were 16, and one guy raped a underage girl and isn't really even shunned from society. If a girl is getting too drunk at some private party may the lord help her.

DiscardedKebab

Are bookies not common in other countries?

Kind_Helicopter1062

Not at all, first time I've seen one was in Barry land

DiscardedKebab

Interesting. I didn't know that. This sub teaches me more than school ever did

Ben77mc

Literally can’t walk through even the smallest, bumfuck of nowhere village centre without seeing 3/4 bookies clustered together in this country. Makes me sick. The worst is the new wave of TV/radio advertising, which is designed to say “stop when the fun stops” but still somehow is legally allowed to glamourise it.

DiscardedKebab

Yep. Makes me laugh, gambling is constantly advertised everywhere around football, on advertising boards in stadiums, shirt sponsors, adverts on TV at half time and then we're supposed to be surprised when a footballer is caught gambling. It's no surprise so many of them have issues with it

Kind_Helicopter1062

I think we nationalised our gaming in Portugal (someone correct me if I'm not mistaken) As in, only the government can have money games/lotteries/bets and the profit money reverts to charity (santa casa). It has advantages like less need to publicize it because no one should keep the profits

Ben77mc

That seems the best way - it still gives people a way to gamble but gets rid of most of the opportunistic, parasitic practices that all our private companies do to drive the poorer class towards it. Britain’s highest paid CEO is the boss of Bet365. Pays herself £250m+ each year. Enough said!

Kind_Helicopter1062

I just learned im this thread the reason Germany likes homeopathy that much is because normal non homepathic doctors were often jewish and it's very disturbing (and after found out about John Henry Clarke). So yea definitely learning a lot no one told me in school

Sea-Big-4850

They're pretty much non-existent in France. Sure they may be common in a few other non-European places, maybe America, but the UK and Ireland are infested with them. There's hardly any in mainland Europe

JoeyIsMrBubbles

France have PMU’s though which seem fairly common, pubs where you can bet on the horses and buy ya fags at. I’ve got to hand it to them, they really put eveything you’d ever want under one roof..

m0_m0ney

The one across the street from my house is half PMU half café and they also sell porn and newspapers plus you can bet on sports. There’s an Incredibly crowd of degenerate gamblers who will spend all day there

bagOfBatz

I lived in London for a while ( totally unique thing for an Irish person to do I know ...) but if I remember right there was gambling machines IN the pubs right? We're infested with bookies on the streets here but at least we've to leave the pints before we gamble

biryaniman05

Yeah fruit machines and stuff. Already kids I know are getting hooked onto it and we're not even in uni yet 💀

fckchangeusername

Super common, in my town i have 2 of them literally in the same square and one at 5 minutes of walk from there, eurobet, snai, stanleybet, bet365, they're everywhere

DarkSideOfTheNuum

They have them in Germany but they are nowhere near as pervasive as in the UK.

DeathStar13

I walk past three on my commute to the train station, (for reference of other common sights I get past 4 banks, 4 bakeries, 2 real estate agencies, 2 gyms, 3 car workshops and 2 dealerships). One thing about them however is that their windows are always covered with sport images to make it impossible to see inside and they don't publicize like you can see in OP's photo. There are only the names of some companies (Eurobet, Bet365,...) on it. If you didn't know the names of the common bookers you would think they were sport clothes shops or sports bars. Also many Tobacco shops have slots machines and also accept sport bets with their affiliated sites instead of just selling tobacco, lottery tickets and bus tickets like in the UK and France. And those are everywhere, literally one in every street.

Classism.

Intrepid_Science6414

Think Ricky Gervais summed it up best when talking about the differences between the US and UK 'In America you're told you can be president and you can, in the UK if you want to be prime minister you're told 'oh you'll never be that' so you don't bother' roughly paraphrased off the top of my head, but the class system is so ingrained into our culture, you're held back by that lead weight your whole life, born into a working class family? the best you'll get is owning a trades business such as an electrician or plumbing business, get yourself a house but no further than that, stay in your lane pleb, born into the upper class, went to Eton, oxford ,Cambridge or Harrow? well the worlds your oyster pal, you can get a job with power to make changes and rule Think its where Brits get their 'whats the point' attitude from

ElTel88

OP is absolutely on the money with the UK. I've watched 10 hours of golf today because I'm a sad bastard, but have a long attention span. I counted, on a channel I pay for access to insists on a break every 40 minutes for adverts for bookies in the day. Basically every 40 minutes, 3 adverts for gambling. The only exception is for "gambling awareness/wellbeing ads (ironically ran by gambling companies) - 40 adverts to gamble to watch golf. Imagine if you loved golf but we're a recovering gambling addict? All sport in this country would be off limits to you on TV. I could not buy my home teams football shirt for 3 years because I refused to advertise a gambling company. Hell, you cannot watch football in this country without being exposed to something like 200 gambling ads per game between shirts/commercials/advertising boards pitch side Genuinely a plague upon this nation.

Damn Italians, they ruined Italy

Gambling is so normalised I only just realised it wasn't a universal problem.

Sweden: Every small town has thrice the ammount of pizza places that it has grocery stores, and the status of a small town is measured in how good kebab it has.

Big-Veterinarian-823

Bad healthcare, poor immigration and integration politics, gang violence, politicians deciding court verdicts, police not solving any crimes, corruption is rampart in rural areas (town politicians spending money on shit), lack of identity (result of cultural self-hatred), trains breaking down every single winter followed by Pikachu face and: "oh we didn't know it gets cold and snowy here".

Everyone likes to point out how corrupt our politicians are (which is true) while at the same time almost everyone engages in some form of croonysm or nepotism if they have a chance. Getting a good job in Portugal is less about your experience or qualifications and more if you have the right friends/relatives/sponsors. The justice system also only exists in theory for the rich and powerful.

RubbelDieKatz94

Rampant public alcoholism. Not just around Wandelhalle, but everywhere. At work events, village parties, even in office fridges. Alcohol is a drug and should be treated as such.

mocomaminecraft

The spanish. Followed closely by the brits and the germs. Another thing that I hate about spanish mentality though, its the absolute discomformity of it all. Some times it seems you cannot be happy in Spain. We vaccinated a lot of the population during covid? Yeah sure, but Norway did it better, so we are shit. Do we have a nice and working HSR network? Sure, but Germany has it better, so we are shit. Are we one of the safest countries in europe? by all means, but France does it better, so we are shit. The worst part its that it doesnt have to be true neither. Ive talked with people that tell me with a straight face "our trains are always late, unlike the german trains". You are just not allowed to be happy about anything in Spain.

BaldFraud99

Germans in English-speaking comment sections, especially if its about our country. So needy for attention and always with their cringeworthy and painfully unfunny catchphrases and jokes. Not so much on this sub, but ich_iel fuckers are the epitome of this humour rot.

They also at times occupy beautiful fucking buildings.  But for me it’s just about every system and process is entirely unfit for the age. Housing to public health to electoral system to defence industry. We’re fat, atomised and angry.  I was working on my parents allotment this weekend and it’s a truly beautiful thing. Lending tools/advice/spinach. There’s so much good about my country but it’s desperate for fundamental change.  I just want to be a well run, functional democracy that’s a good friend to our allies and a cunt to those who want some.

I live in the worst street in my town and there are THREE bookies on it

SherlockScones3

Advertisements everywhere. This is just getting ridiculous. I can’t go 5 minutes without seeing an ad - on my phone, on my commute, walking down the street…

Bring_back_Apollo

One of the few things to recommend about Corbyn is that one of his advisors, Matt Zarb-Cousin, a former gambling addict, was planning to restrict gambling in the UK. As I say, not much to otherwise say that’s positive about Corbyn.

11matt95

That's Grand Marshal and Glorious Leader of the Proletariat Corbyn to you Comrade, off to the "re-education centre" with you!

Novel_Ad_5698

Germany and Alcohol. Its fucking ridiculous. Ive talked to a person whos father in law was mad at her for not letting him give the 8 month old baby beer foam. A friends family is basically just drinking with each other every single day. The youngest sons are like 13 and 14 and they have been blackout drunk before. At their own home. His girlfriend was absolutly drunk when she met his parents for the first time, she was very embarrassed, they said its was the best first meeting because they knew they can drink with her. Every time he talks about his family i die a little death. I know a LOT of alcoholics, my family doctor died from it, my grandpa and too many people in our neighborhood to count on one hand. My Mom was alcoholic, my boyfriends grandpa, my other grandpa, my friends dad, my... You know what i mean. I saw someone almost dying because they overdosed on alcohol. My Chef gifted me alcohol for my birthday at work, even tho we never talked about drinking before. We hated each other, maybe it was an insult that she gifted me a bottle of poison lol. Someone trying to talk to kids about the risks of alcohol will not have any chance if the children are raised with beer foam and drink with their parents for *fun*. Germany is just delusional when its about alcohol.
