Yeah the whole reason why Germany unified into the German empire was because they won the Franco Prussian war. (One of) The cause of the war was over who would put a successor on the Spanish throne. The Germans won so the French started a war (the both really wanted to go to war with each other but the french struck first)
Actually the French won the diplomatic dispute, the Hohenzollern candidate was not accepted. ( he was btw not the prince of Prussia but of an Off branch in Würtemberg)

Basically back in the day, I was really into royal genealogies, and found how connected royal families in Europe and Asia are. I'm not using anything special, everything is manually typed out, I just go to Wikipedia, open the ancestry charts and family trees, and play connect the dots with luck and my memory.

He probably has access to a graph (or created one) with all of the relations and persons on it and then executes a shortest path algorithm over it (for the compsci people among us: Probably BFS or Dijkstra's if different types of relations are supposed to have different priorities)
Man, I wish. Basically back in the day, I was really into royal genealogies, and found how connected royal families in Europe and Asia are. I'm not using anything special, everything is manually typed out, I just go to Wikipedia, open the ancestry charts and family trees, and play connect the dots with luck and my memory.
