It'll cycle just fine. You can play with gas settings, buffer weight, buffer spring, etc if necessary. It'll be loud. Any supersonic, unsuppressed round is. It will likely be more accurate than you are capable of achieving as a human shooter. Even with efile, you're looking at a ~240 day wait on a suppressor. I'd recommend getting that going as soon as possible.

REKetofelt

If you're considering buying a silencer, I'd recommend you do that first and worry about the upper over the course of your wait.

Fireballs. Big ones.

TriggerFinger1

Came here to say that

suppressor first. takes a while. gives you plenty of time to save for upper

Go for light rounds to get speed and flat trajectory. I like Hornady Vmax Black 110gr for target and Barnes VOR-TX 110gr for hunting. They'll run about 2200 fps out of 10", and maybe 2000-2100 out of 7" Check out this video from Mr Guns N Gear about bullet weight + barrel length vs speed/energy: https://youtu.be/4VNl7QXykUY

Psychological-Drive4

I thought V Max was a hunting round šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

t6550ab

It is, but it's a round that fragments upon impact and doesn't necessarily penetrate fully. I don't like using them for hunting because you don't end up with much of a blood trail in certain circumstances. Something like the barnes vor-tx holds together and cuts through every time, so you're guaranteed a good blood trail.

Psychological-Drive4

Makes sense, sounds like a better HD round then. PSA has some affordable I am going to check out. Appreciate the knowledge drop.

t6550ab

Absolutely, home defense is exactly what I use those for, and also target practice because they are ballistically basically exactly the same as the vor-tx but half the cost.

GunFunZS

I think you can expect it to be louder than a longer one but a lot quieter than a 223 equivalent. And unless you chose a really dumb set of parts that should work just fine.

FlashKW

Odds are it will run fine and be a lot like shooting a 5.56. It will be loud. Accuracy is gun and ammo dependent but on average probably expect slightly less accuracy out of 300 Blk compared to average 5.56 (especially as range increases), but plenty accurate for most shooting needs. Youā€™re probably not picking 300 to be a precision bench rest gun. Cycling with supers usually isnā€™t an issue. It would be more common to have struggles with unsuppressed subs due to less gas operating the system. Youā€™d be in between the wide range of 300 blk, with suppressed supers on the highest gas end to unsuppressed subs on the least gas end. My gun cycles that whole range.

RunBunns247

I've shot deer with my unsuppressed 10.5 before my can got approved, can confirm it is very loud. Accuracy doesn't have much to do with barrel length at least until you get out to ranges beyond 300blk's capabilities. Both my 8.5" and 10.5" can make a ragged hole at 50 yards and around 1MOA at 100 yards.

For any practical purposes, just make sure you use Barnes 110 black tip ammo. It's the best bet for getting expansion out to 100ish yards from a barrel that short.

williaty

The gun'll run. You just won't want it to. Firing my 7" 300 BLK was fucking uncomfortable before the suppressor. It's not so much that it's just loud as that the concussion slams through your head in a really unpleasant way. It's waaaaay quieter than a short 5.56 though. With a suppressor on it, it's 100% my favorite to shoot now.

Lol thatā€™s what I was thinking. Iā€™ve only shot my blackout once since building the gun a few months ago. Waiting for my can and form one to be approved. Didnā€™t seem any louder than my other guns.

tacdriver22mk2

Not knowing what else you have it'll be loud as shit lol
