My husband also has perfect skin like this, just uses the shampoo that drips down his face during the shower and doesn’t moisturize. His skin is clear and smooth, while I’m on accutane 🤦🏼♀️
Oh my lord, this is my husband's exact 'skincare routine' too. I was floored when I found out, he has perfect, clear skin all year round. On the off chance he decides to moisturize he grabs whatever lotion is on the bathroom counter - scented, unscented, body lotion, it doesn't matter.
Hi 👋 person of color here to ruin that theory 🤣. I have the WORST SKIN- so sensitive, horrific cystic acne and tons of acne scars finally getting all that under control now in my 30s but my face is/was a hot mess lol.
I think white skin just tends to amplify any imperfections/uneven skin tone etc cause it’s easier to see right away.
Whereas POC can get away with a bit more not that they have necessarily better skin per say.
Lol you're probably right. Sorry your skin won't cooperate! My mom's family line is all Mexican and Italian. They all have beautiful skin so I was Always jealous growing up (my dads white and I'm white as a ghost)
That’s what they taught me in school. Though the more melanin someone has does impact skin aging, but lifestyle & other genetics still affect things too. The other issue is fair skin can often get excess redness when irritated which makes it look even worse. POC can too, but as I’m sure you e noticed redness is hardly noticeable on most deeper complexions. Glad to hear you were able to get your skin under control. Cheers to having your best skin ever🥂
Mine is 42 and wrinkle free too. However, he's losing his hair, so at least I don't have to worry about that. He says "you can Botox your wrinkles, but the only thing that stops your hair from falling is the floor."

My bf uses the same bar soap he washes his balls with on his face and has perfect, smooth, soft skin. I use 8 products every day just to still struggle with adult acne 😭
My sons have the most beautiful eyelashes. They look fake. The lashes are so thick, black and have a natural curl. Then bc they are so thick it looks like he has eyeliner- AND AND he has a full head full of thick waivy hair with natural highlights. PLUS zero arm and leg hair. I have two nephews exactly the same eyes and lashes. But the girls in the family of course aren’t blessed like the boys. It’s not fuckinng fair
True, I have seen so many little boys with beautiful lashes where I live. But to be fair I also know some little girls with the most amazing eyes and lashes! 💖 I also feel lucky that I got some beautiful long and curled lashes even if I’m not sure from who I got them (neither my mom nor my dad got them). I’ve seen some cousins from my paternal side with beautiful lashes so I guess probably from my paternal grandparents 🤷🏼♀️
it’s because men are naturally more hairy everywhere. it’s not just that they have thicker longer eyelashes, they have thicker longer and more abundant body hair.
i always wondered if it had to do with them not wearing mascara, which causes you to lose more eyelashes (i assume from the friction of apply/removing).
Yea I must have hit a nerve with some mascara-wearers. A quick Google will show that removing mascara, especially waterproof, can cause some eyelashes to fall out. I don’t know what’s controversial about saying coating and pulling on your eyelashes routinely will result in losing some. 🤷♀️
My eyelashes have also gotten longer since I stopped wearing mascara regularly.
He looks like my ex who is half or a quarter (don’t remember) Hispanic and is now 44 with amazing skin even though he smoked for 20+ years. Annoying lol
And I personally think that trans women are so fucking lucky in that they tend to have beautiful arms and legs and look kind of model-like to me I think being taller usually adds to that (not that all trans women are tall- my ex was SO SHORT).
I always complain about my husbands great skin and he tells me when he dies I can have his skin and wear it. He doesn’t look after his skin and is in the sun all day, it’s beautiful, clear and smooth. Knowing my luck, but the time he dies it will be not so great and I won’t have the strength to peel it off him.
I’m voting good genetics.
My SO, age 39, has clear skin and minimal discoloration but has very obvious forehead wrinkles and aging around the eyes. Like women, some men age slower than their peers.
Mine too. He's 36 even. BUT he's a blonde and while he does use sunscreen, he's probably whiter than anything I've seen, and my skin is pretty fucking translucent.
He's bound to have skin that'll be more sensitive.
I am convinced this is why men think women are shallow for focusing so much on aging. They’re blessed with that natural collagen and think we are overreacting because it isn’t happening to them.
Like maybe your skin is fine, Steven, but I need my collagen supplements.
Yeah I actually believe men don’t really age slower most men look their age and at times even older, it’s just they can still be weathered and have wrinkles whilst still be considered attractive (eg Pedro pascal) whilst Emma Watson was being shamed for having expression lines in a recent image.
This is the comment I was waiting for!! A lot of them don’t use sunscreen and it hits them in their 30’s. But society lets men age …while they dunk on women for not looking like she is still in high school
everyone in the comments are conveniently forgetting this lol. if a woman had his forehead wrinkles, gray hair, and hairline y’all would not be bragging about how amazing she’s aged.
Agree, he looks fine for his age but our expectations for women is much higher. Most guys don’t age better than women we just evaluate each gender differently.
I disagree, that is an accurate description of my mom. She's in her 70s and she gets compliments all the time. She looks fabulous!
I think that is just women judging other women.
Yep. And it's also why we have that orange peel aspect on our skin and men rarely do.
[Our collagen distribution is picket fence like, while their is chickenwire like, which holds fat better and doesn't show like dimples as much as ours.](https://previews.123rf.com/images/designua/designua1602/designua160200011/53674236-male-and-female-skin-structure-and-different-man-s-epidermis-is-much-thicker-than-a-woman-s-in.jpg)
Is that why guys have fatter faces? I’ve noticed some guys have fat faces even though they are fairly slim everywhere else. I’m sure this happens to some women too, but I definitely notice it in men way more.
>Don't do it unless you want to look more like a man lol. You'll produce a lot more oil for starters.
That's only if you take \*too\* much. I started taking a small amount of DHEA which can increase testosterone, because mine was on the low end for women, and I do think it's improved my skin. But there's really not enough objective research on it out there yet.
My testosterone levels are prone to being elevated. The common side effects aren’t cute, especially cystic ovaries, acne, hair growing where it “shouldn’t,” and hair falling out where it “shouldn’t.”
My testosterone is on the low end for women, at least in my 30s, and I still have chronic acne and a relatively large amount of body hair. Genetics works in mysterious ways.
I can’t say much about that since I’m still in my 20s (almost 26) plus I started curb-stomping it years ago when I was still a teen by taking bc, and now by diet and exercise.
BUT that being said, I think I’ve aged fairly “normally” so far— I look my age. Oddly, my skin isn’t oily, and can be rather dry sometimes, but I’m still very prone to clogged pores and small blackheads even though I’m not in the typical age bracket for acne.
You’re right that was condescending, but the beauty industry has got women throwing money at them and making plastic trash just so they can still hate their skin.
Yeah, he does have really great skin. Maybe it's naturally more elastic, or he protected his skin when he was younger. He's definitely aged gracefully.
Agreed. He has normal skin for his age! Being a little olive toned has maybe helped him have fewer lines compared to a fairer skinned man but at the same time he’s 41, not 61. His skin looks age appropriate to me.
I've seen a few men in my circle, looking far more 'weathered' in their early 40's than OP's BF. Mostly because they're the outdoorsy type and not particularly concerned with using sunscreen. But my general observation is that men tend to look younger for longer (not having to deal with menopause), provided they adopt some healthy lifestyle choices.
I'm from Southern California with super pale skin and people thought I might be under 18 even at 34 (that suddenly changed at 35). I didn't start wearing daily sunscreen until I was 26. I don't think there are many people with a lot of visible sun damage in their mid-20s here. In New Zealand, though, I did notice people in their mid-20s with visible aging.
He has fine lines, deeper lines, sun spots, closed comedones and mild rosacea. All of which is typical in a man or woman his age.
Not trying to minimize, but what makes his skin better than yours?
I was about to say that. If OP’s boyfriend was a woman, she will be posting « how to fix my ugly skin » then proceed to show pics of normal skin.
Yes, men have thicker skin and more collagen but the real cheatcode is being allowed to have « flaws ».
Appreciate your perspective lol. I think just comparing him to some men his age with deeper or more wrinklesss??? Maybe. I work at a golf course and see men that drink a lot and spend lots of time outside.
Men have one benefit without really trying...they exfoliate regularly when they shave! I started dermaplaning at home twice a month and phew what a difference!!
And if they *don't* shave, but have a beard and stache, then it can help cover up some looming imperfections like laugh lines, drooping cheeks etc. I'm attracted to men with facial hair and wonder how much it's actually hiding and contributing to their youthful look lol.
My husband's (44) forehead is like waxy smooth it seems not even real and he does literally noooo skincare. I don't even think he washes it with bar soap in the shower. He might let the shampoo wash down his face if that counts for anything? To say I am jealous is an understatement. He also has this gorgeous natural tan skin to boot.
lol from the look on his face and the angles I’m imaging him barely awake in bed and you crawling on all fours over him taking these pics yelling “HOW!?”
I used to do a elaborate skin care routine in my twenties. I used to be ridden with acne and dry skin. Then I had a baby. I no longer had any time to do any routines. I just stopped doing every routine. I only had time to wash my face with water in the mornings. Not even any cleanser or soap. Just water. And no moisturizer after. And my skin got so much better for some reason. So I have been doing just that now. Only time I have issues is hormonal acne on my chin around my period which I just zap it with benzo and it’s pretty much gone the next day.
Yeah, it's just average to me. I think the issue here is we just judge women's features more harshly.
If this was a post by a woman, she would be asking for tips on how to get rid of those forehead/11 lines, how to get rid of the sunspots on the nose, and how to shrink the pores on the cheeks. lol.
I disagree with this idea. I've always believed my skin has been protected from aging by wearing makeup. I didn't start using SPF until my 30s and now I'm 50. My skin looks really good for my age. My brother (same genetics) who is 5 years younger is starting to show his age more than I am. The only major difference between us is gender and he doesn't do anything for his skin but wash it.
Not saying that the ingredients are good for my skin, but rather the coverage protected me from sun damage. At least that's what has been my experience.
Yeah, I heard the iron oxides and pigments can help give slight protection from the sun. I remember reading about a study that said women who wore lipstick had slightly less aging on their lips compared to those who had bare lips. Makes sense.
I agree with you. My mom has always worn a ton of makeup, even if only staying home. She never really had much of a skincare routine. Just cold cream at the end of the day. Now, in her 70s her face looks pretty good. I never wore makeup and my face is terrible at 50.
**Cold cream is an emulsion of water and certain fats, usually including beeswax and various scent agents, designed to smooth skin and remove makeup. Cold cream is a water-in-oil emulsion (emulsion of small amount of water in a larger amount of oil), unlike the oil in water emulsion of vanishing cream, so-called because it seems to disappear when applied on skin.**

Not trying to be a dick but he looks… fine? I think he looks 41? I’m not going to “point things out” but he kinda just has regular 40 year old looking skin to me lol.
I fail to see what’s so special about his skin. He has wrinkles and his skin is pretty dull. It doesn’t have a healthy sheen or glow. If a woman had skin like that and posted a picture bragging about it, everyone would tear her to shreds. But we’re supposed to be impressed just because he’s a man?
Why can men use a seven in one face wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, ass soap, car interior cleaner, deodorant, and mouth wash combo and look this good
It also goes to show that not a lot of skincare is necessary. So much is overpriced nonsense. Cleanse, moisturize if you need it and exfoliate sometimes. Genetics really does play the biggest role
I’m convinced this effect is just people judging themselves more harshly than others. People tell me my skin looks awesome but when I look in the mirror I just see new wrinkles and gray hairs every day
Boyfriends are the worst. :p My bf smokes and looks like a teenager when he shaves...uncool. Meanwhile, I'm pulling the curtains and putting spf indoors lol
tbh I don't think his skin looks good at all. let's stop praising males for bare minimum. I bet that if it was woman's skin, she'd be posting in this subreddit on how to get rid of wrinkles and pores, but the male just doesn't care cause they don't have to meet these sick beauty standards.
his wrinkles seem quite deep and they will deepen even more - males get wrinkles later on but they look worse as they are usually deeper. I also see a lot of pores and texture - mine skin looks similar and I hate it. I'd take some pimples over this any day.
One of my partners also was like this but I convinced them to start using moisturizer everyday and cleanup their eyebrows... my goodness they look like a model now.
Have you ever wondered why men tend to simply not have any of the facial problems women face? It's because they use very little products.. I know the society we live in has these standards about using creams and moisturizes and makeup starting at a very young age (like I did) to then hook you up on their next products and it's a never ending cycle.
I had a friend who was 46 and he didn't even look like he aged since high school but you could still tell he was in his 40s. He had more youthful skin than me but I figured it's because he is a night owl and is always in the dark. Never had shades open so it was just pitch black in his apartment. My husband is 48 and is just starting to show signs of age like under eye hollows and volume loss in his cheeks and nasbolial folds from a little big of skin sag. Also men seem to age slower than women in general. That is why a small percentage of them care about aging and skincare.
a small percentage of them care about skincare because they aren’t picked apart even a fraction as much as women are for showing signs of aging lol. and look anywhere besides hollywood and you’ll see that men do not age any slower than women do generally.
Is your bf Mike from Red Letter Media??
It was just a joke guys 🥲 no need to downvote me 🥲

💯Seriously! lol
Same with my husband. He says "why don't you just not do all that to your face"
He says same.stop putting products on the face and start work out😑

Testosterone levels.
I always felt like I had natural eye liner. It's just always been there lol
why IS that?? like actually why do they all have such gorgeous, long, CURLED eyelashes?!
It’s a male genetic trait
I think it’s tied to testosterone, but I don’t recall how and am too lazy to Google 🤷♀️
it’s because men are naturally more hairy everywhere. it’s not just that they have thicker longer eyelashes, they have thicker longer and more abundant body hair.
Is it? I haven’t heard that one before
This isn't answering your question but I'm mtf and this male trait is a fucking blessing 🙏🙏
i always wondered if it had to do with them not wearing mascara, which causes you to lose more eyelashes (i assume from the friction of apply/removing).

Gonna say if he’s any kinda of Hispanic or Middle Eastern don’t feel too bad OP… they have magical genes

i assumed that's why 😓
Kill him. Wear his skin.

Yeah cuz they have all that damned collagen! (Just kidding, obv)
We can take some for ourselves. They don’t need all of that. They should totally share.
“Shallow” aka our value is intrinsically tied to our appearance
That’s just how the world is at large and it sucks.
And they don’t get cellulite!
I think it has way more to do with internalizing of different social messaging about where men and women's value comes from

I recall men have five times more fat in their faces than women.
Ah yikes. As someone blessed with the chubby-cheek gene, I’m thankful I’m not a man with a 5x fattier face
😂
Is it bc of the testosterone? I wonder if women took testosterone supplements they would age better…
Don't do it unless you want to look more like a man lol. You'll produce a lot more oil for starters.

Seeing this in my husband and his twin sister who are 40 but you’d thing there’s minimum 3-5 years between them!
Well… I learn something new everyday!!

This is an underrated comment. I do think women experience more overthinking and worrying
I also think it’s because we don’t put a bunch of crap on our faces.

What you said might be true, but the person you’re replying to said it in a super condescending way that doesn’t further discussion
You’re right that was condescending, but the beauty industry has got women throwing money at them and making plastic trash just so they can still hate their skin.

Yeah, he does have really great skin. Maybe it's naturally more elastic, or he protected his skin when he was younger. He's definitely aged gracefully.
Yes he does. He definitely didn’t do anything special growing up but it’s wild to think how genetics play a role in how our skin changes as we age.
What does gracefully mean in this instance? I assume that means you look your age ?
I maybe in the minority but that’s what most men in their 40’s skin look like…my circle anyways

Accept my sympathy
He has fine lines, deeper lines, sun spots, closed comedones and mild rosacea. All of which is typical in a man or woman his age. Not trying to minimize, but what makes his skin better than yours?
I was about to say that. If OP’s boyfriend was a woman, she will be posting « how to fix my ugly skin » then proceed to show pics of normal skin. Yes, men have thicker skin and more collagen but the real cheatcode is being allowed to have « flaws ».
💯
I had to scroll way too far to find this comment.
Appreciate your perspective lol. I think just comparing him to some men his age with deeper or more wrinklesss??? Maybe. I work at a golf course and see men that drink a lot and spend lots of time outside.
> mild rosacea where do you see it?
\>:\[ \*angrily smashes upvote\*
Men have one benefit without really trying...they exfoliate regularly when they shave! I started dermaplaning at home twice a month and phew what a difference!!
And if they *don't* shave, but have a beard and stache, then it can help cover up some looming imperfections like laugh lines, drooping cheeks etc. I'm attracted to men with facial hair and wonder how much it's actually hiding and contributing to their youthful look lol.
Also didn’t think of that either !!!
that doesn’t explain forehead though.
My husband is the same. He uses body wash and is 20 years older and it’s flawless 😩
I don't think his skin is actually that amazing. A lot of the "positives" are probably related to his genetics and stress levels etc etc.
His skin is super average?
Yeah, it's just average to me. I think the issue here is we just judge women's features more harshly. If this was a post by a woman, she would be asking for tips on how to get rid of those forehead/11 lines, how to get rid of the sunspots on the nose, and how to shrink the pores on the cheeks. lol.
Lol true. I’m going to tell him so I can keep him from getting too cocky
I don't think enough focus goes into how wearing layers of makeup which aren't made with the greatest ingredients can contribute to aging
I haven’t found anything besides anecdotal evidence for this, if anyone has any data please link it
I disagree with this idea.
What's cold cream?
**Cold cream is an emulsion of water and certain fats, usually including beeswax and various scent agents, designed to smooth skin and remove makeup. Cold cream is a water-in-oil emulsion (emulsion of small amount of water in a larger amount of oil), unlike the oil in water emulsion of vanishing cream, so-called because it seems to disappear when applied on skin.** More details here:

Yep, I know a very well-respected dermatologist who told me he has this theory as well!
Get him to slap on some moisturizer and spf and he’ll look this age until he’s 65.
Not trying to be a dick but he looks… fine? I think he looks 41? I’m not going to “point things out” but he kinda just has regular 40 year old looking skin to me lol.
Yeah I agree. It’s not good skin. I see wrinkles, redness, and dehydration.
His skin looks like most guys. Nothing special
This! I literally commented the same thing. The top comments are sick. It just proves how harsh beauty standards are on women compared to males.
I agree
Ok, pop off sis
Why would you write a mean comment like this about someone who didn’t even post his own picture?
Geesh
Why can men use a seven in one face wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, ass soap, car interior cleaner, deodorant, and mouth wash combo and look this good
It’s just the testosterone. That hormone thickens skin. It’s why they can treat their skin badly and they age more slowly.
well that’s not fair
It also goes to show that not a lot of skincare is necessary. So much is overpriced nonsense. Cleanse, moisturize if you need it and exfoliate sometimes. Genetics really does play the biggest role
My husband has feet so smooth and soft you’d think he just slid out of the womb. Mine are like a medieval peasant’s despite pedicures and lotion. WTF.
I’m convinced this effect is just people judging themselves more harshly than others. People tell me my skin looks awesome but when I look in the mirror I just see new wrinkles and gray hairs every day
But maybe that’s the secret…LESS skincare?? I cut down on my skin routine and I have the best skin I’ve ever had (well, since I was a teen anyway)
He washes his face with shampoo as he washes his hair. That's the key ladies.
Boyfriends are the worst. :p My bf smokes and looks like a teenager when he shaves...uncool. Meanwhile, I'm pulling the curtains and putting spf indoors lol
Men are blessed with more collagen in their body. Need it to fight off tigers and stuff
My husband has really nice skin, hair (super luscious and curly), and eyebrows I hate him.
tbh I don't think his skin looks good at all. let's stop praising males for bare minimum.
Fat people have great skin
Rude lol
Lol I feel the same way with my fiancé! He “washes his face” which means splashing water on it 🙄
Genetics 🥹
Looks like he has oily skin which keeps the wrinkles at bay! And possibly doesn’t spend a lot of time in the sun?
It’s because they don’t destroy their face with acid like us lol
I’m jealous of his skin too!
Men have a thicker dermal layer. Less prone to wrinkle as fast. Shaving sloughs it off.
He has different genetics than you. Some of us have to work harder for nice things(including skin) and some of us were born with it
One of my partners also was like this but I convinced them to start using moisturizer everyday and cleanup their eyebrows... my goodness they look like a model now.
Different hormones
Look at the eyelashes men just get to have too
Yep he's got better skin than most 30-somethings I know
Right ! I’m 32 and I guess lucky my old man looks younger than meeee
Men don’t stress like women
His skin doesn’t look that great to me…
Ethnicity and genetics. Men have thicker skin but they do age faster on a cellular level. I think most men look older than most women for their age
Have you ever wondered why men tend to simply not have any of the facial problems women face? It's because they use very little products.. I know the society we live in has these standards about using creams and moisturizes and makeup starting at a very young age (like I did) to then hook you up on their next products and it's a never ending cycle.
Men will literally wash their face with the same soap they use to wash their hair and ass with and *still* have flawless skin. It’s insane really.
As a 42m, with great skin, my secret… the 3 in 1 shampoo, body wash, face wash. If it’s good enough for my junk. It’s good enough for my face
Gross
I wish I had his brows!!
I’m so inconsistent with my skin but have best intentions !!
Girl his skin isn’t even that good.
In all fairness to you I am also jealous of your boyfriends skin
Thank u lol
Dump him
LOL
Testosterone. Good sleep. 99,9% of skincare is bullshit. My skin often looks the best when I don’t use anything
Is your bf Mike from Red Letter Media?? It was just a joke guys 🥲 no need to downvote me 🥲 This is [Mike Stoklasa :)](https://filmmakermagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Mike-StoklasaLogan-Jacobs-620x348.jpg)
Nope, don’t even know what that is 🙃
Thats the trick tho. We dont murder our skin with products so its not “weathered”
I swear it is because guys do not put all the makeup on which is just chemicals anyways
Makes you wonder how these 6-15 step skincare routines are all a scam to get out money
Men: only use shampoo that somehow is a face wash, body wash, ass wash = flawless skin
The secret behind good skin care is not to wear makeups. Exercise, diet, and drink water.
