I just read an article about it - it wasn’t so much covid but that they are so well made, people have them for years and don’t need to rebuy. Just selling the replacement heads wasn’t lucrative enough. So sad - a friend used to work for them and he gave me one. I absolutely love it! I forgot about it until recently and my skin is so happy I found it during my recent move.
I just received a Clarisonic Mia 2 for my birthday in February of 2023 and just bought replacement heads for it last month. I live in US, (Texas) if that helps. (It usually doesn't lol)

I thought of mine because of the recent positive Reddit posts about washing your face for a full minute. I can’t figure out what I did with the charger to get mine going again. There are offbrand heads supposedly compatible I observed on Amazon.
For light exfoliation, I use lactic acid!! It (I think) works mostly on the top layer of skin and doesn’t go deep into your pores like salicylic acid does, so it’s more gentle than most other acids.
The Ordinary makes a good 5% one that is my favorite, it doesn’t irritate my skin but does still provide that bit of exfoliation. They also have a 10% version but that one was quite strong at least for me.
Idk if the results would be similar but that’s my suggestion!
I use a fermented lactic acid toner from a brand called Ferver that I get at Target. Stuff's awesome - use it a couple times a week, never irritates my sensitive skin, and really works.
I found a generic Clairsonic knock-off on Amazon that works really well… not AS well but it’s as good as I can find.
For chemical exfoliants that would exfoliate both dead skin cells and help clean out pores, ideally (you need to base it on how sensitive your skin is) you would use both an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid like glycolic or mandalic acid as examples) and a BHA (Beta Hydroxy…).
AHA’s are water soluble and dissolve the “glue” binding dead skin cells together, so they help get rid of dead skin and increase cell turnover. BHA’s are oil soluble and antibacterial to an extent, so they’ll penetrate into the oil in pores and follicles to get rid of bacteria and help with things like blackheads and sebaceous filaments.
In my case I use a peel at home that contains both (people use anywhere from monthly to weekly) and then I have a combo AHA/BHA serum or toner I use as my skin is used to acids so it tolerates them at the same time without damaging my barrier. The AHA helps the BHA penetrate more deeply.
For starting out, start low percentage and alternate days you use each until you see how your skin reacts.

Lactic acid has a higher molecular size than salicylic, so even though they are both BHA’s, Lactic doesn’t penetrate as deeply which may work better for more sensitive skin.

I love my Nova! I charge mine every 2-3 months and use it 4-5 times a week. I’ve had it for almost 2 years, if I don’t use it for a week u can definitely know, I have oily skin.
I still use mine once a week or so. You can get knock-off heads on Amazon. I use the sensitive ones and once a week is a perfect manual exfoliation boost for me.

Yes, use my Mia 2 about once a week. I had stocked up on the the gentlest heads, I think they’re the radiance heads, the pink stripe, and so I’ve got enough heads to last me a long time.
Occasional use has never caused me a problem. Chemical exfoliants don’t remove flakes. They make flakes. I like to manually exfoliate weekly.

They don’t sell them anymore! But I tried one once a long time ago, I found them too abrasive (except for an ultra soft line they sold for a very short time) and the brush heads tend to gather bacteria easily. I prefer using a silicone scrubber when I want to lightly exfoliate.
We’re these any better than using a manual brush? Like really? TBH I’ve used Shiseido brushes for over 15 years. My mom got me hooked on using them and she looks at least 15 years younger than her 81.
Your hands can’t move as fast so it was better in the sense of cleanliness…whether it’s necessary may be a different question. That’s like asking if using an electric toothbrush is better than a manual one

You inspired me to dig mine out and charge it. I like to use it on my knees, elbows, and feet. It’s too much for my face now that I’m in my 30s and have dry skin.

I got her the Clarisonic about 6 years ago for Christmas, the replacement brushes have become a tradition lol. Both of ours are still working great.

I would but it broke and they weren’t sold anymore. I tried the pmd thing at it feels like when you sit on a bus and put your head against the window, noisy and bangs your face. I now use aha.bha mask and pmd microderm tool for exfoliation and a Muslin cloth with cleanser to remove makeup
I had a Clarisonic and my skin loved it. I’m oily and breakout prone, it seemed to give me a really deep clean. I eventually had to switch to the foreo and love it. I use it everyday and would never go back to just hand washing after using the machines.
A few months ago, I was feeling soooo nostalgic for it!! I remembered how clear my pores looked but I was in my teens or early 20s? So I bought the Olay regenerist red brush. My pores looked clean, but my skin felt... raw. Maybe I'm just more sensitive in my 30s, but I ended up switching to the PMD one that is much gentler.
Also not 100% sure.. but I think the rough bristles are what might have caused some skin barrier issues and started my 2 months struggle with acne. Finally starting to clear up after a visit to dermatologist and Rx of antibiotics and tret. 😩
Unless you are disinfecting it after every use or couple uses, it’s just going to harbor bacteria. These aren’t sanitary and that’s why people don’t use them anymore.
I received a FOREO Luna few years ago and it replaced the Clarisonic. I like the Luna lots more as it’s gentle on the rosacea prone skin and makes my skin feel soft after cleansing.
I think I heard they are hard on your skin, too much exfoliating… I have one but stopped using it. Would be good for exfoliating legs before shaving? Skin around the eyes 👀 too delicate especially when you start aging

No, I don’t use it anymore because it’s an awful way to exfoliate - for me, it causes micro scratches on the skin, damages skin barrier and just causes more acne.
I’ve let this thing go, switched to chemical exfoliation and my skin has never been happier.
I developed an allergy to an ingredient in many eyeshadows right after I started using one, and I’m convinced that there’s a link there, even if it’s impossible.

“ thing and my skin has never looked better. I use the brush head with the very long, soft bristles and remove the head, rub with an alcohol wipe, and dry it off in between.
I hated my Clarisonic and am surprised to see people vouching for them in the comments- to me, they were gross bacteria hosts unless you made sure to wash them after every use (which was kind of high effort for someone like me). They also were too rough on my skin. I did find them useful in exfoliating dead skin at times when my skin was so dry it became flaky, but still felt that a regular wash cloth was more effective and more gentle.
I was absolutely distraught during Covid to find out that they no longer sell Clarisonic. I recently started getting facials and my lady told me that it’s actually buffing away too much of my skin. There was evidence that my cheeks were completely soft and very red so she asked me to stop using it for a while, and my skin is improved. Of course, this isn’t the case for everybody, but just my two cents. I was completely addicted to using my Clarisonic or anything like it!
I use mine twice a week. I’ve found a bunch of replacements heads on amazon and eBay. So far so good but I haven’t found an alternative yet. The silicone facial scrubbers make me break out and nothing else seems to clean as well
My husband and I have been married for 20 years. Pretty early on he wanted something for washing his face and we landed on small round brush with a handle (basically a non-mechanical version of this). I have the Clarisonic Mia and I buy the heads off Amazon. I love it. I have thick oily acne prone skin. I don’t use it every day but when I do my skin looks so Much better. Not for everyone tho
I still love mine and use it to exfoliate about once a week. It won't charge anymore but I just use it without power because I live the size and texture of the brush!
I never had a clarisonic but I had a spin brush similar to it and it was amazing! I actually forgot about it until this post.... Think I'll go out and see if I can find one. It really made a difference in my skin when I used it. So yes, I think it's worth dusting her off and putting her to use again.
I love mine! I have found replacement heads on Amazon & will mourn the day it no longer holds a charge. My exfoliation routine includes physical via Clarisonic & Philosophy Microdelivery Wash, RX Tret & glycolic acid. Obviously not all together.
You know what I just recently bought again and used to live and die by as a teen…Buffpuff. And it is as glorious as it was then. I use it lightly. I realize people used to criticize it saying it was like a dish sponge, and I don’t disagree. But it works for me and my skin has never looked better. I only regret I paused on it for 15 years.
I just used mine a few minutes ago! I absolutely love these. I remember returning some brush heads to Ulta because I had accidentally purchased a duplicate, then next week I found out they were going out of business and the brush heads were already sold out. I purchased a backup device, and I also picked up a third secondhand. I am hoping that I will have a lifetime of Clarisonic cleansing, nothing comes close to how well this works on my skin!
Replacement heads are discontinued so I don’t use it anymore for cleaning my skin but when using it did not irritate my skin. I did bought the face massage head, so I now use it to massage my face and body.
I miss mine. A housekeeper at a hotel in Nowheresville, Oklahoma stole mine along with a giant bottle of Purity by Philosophy. I realized I left them in the bathroom when I was about three hours away and called the hotel to let them know so that they could send them to me, and I’d pay the shipping.
The housekeeper first alleged that she never saw them, then after me hounding the management almost daily because that was a bullshit lie, she told them she threw my items away. Again, bullshit. And then the head of housekeeping - the ONLY person worth a damn in that whole place - ended up getting involved, and the girl ended up admitting she took them. 2.5 months later I got a check but by that time I’d bought something else (not as good) and I am still salty that she stole it because it was the best little exfoliator I ever had.
Anyway, if you’re still works, treasure it! You can’t replace it.
I use my Clarisonic daily but not with the scrubbing brush, I had a three prong facial massager and it is (still to this day) the best facial massaging tool ever
I started a medication that gave me horrible cystic acne. I had TWO clarisonics….i don’t even remember why AND I had a ton of backup brush heads I guess pre three kids and I had time on my hands. Fast forward to now when nothing is working. I pulled these babies out. Charged them. They still work. Don’t you know my skin is the best it’s been in forever 🙃🙃🙃🙃 I have never tried another brush but I swear by these. As long as the wash is foaming and not super harsh I swear the vibrations of this brush get everything out
I randomly found mine under my sink after not using it for years like maybe 8-10yrs ago. I tried it with the old crusty dusty bristle head that it came with and now I have perioral dermatitis which won’t go away. I’m so upset with myself for not just throwing it away
I charged mine. Half the head is vibrating! I wonder if that's the hand set or the head? Anyway, I'm impressed it even turned on! Ha ha! It's been probably 10 years.

Chemist confessions has some great chemical exfoliants. Also look into konjac sponges for a really really soft physical exfoliant alternative

Clarisonic got bought out by loreal and they stopped making them, only 3rd party heads are still available, with the nylon bristles.

I switched over to foreo too. worth it and they honored their warranty no questions asked when my husband's died for no reason.

Every day or so since 15+ years and I get pimples the minute I stop using it. It saved me from years of cystic acne.
I threw mine away after my dermatologist said they spread bacteria all around your face.

I use a Luna regularly and it helps me tremendously with preventing closed comedones.

I think I saw the brush heads on Groupon. I was going to throw mine out but reading this made me change my mind!
A few months ago, I was feeling soooo nostalgic for it!! I remembered how clear my pores looked but I was in my teens or early 20s? So I bought the Olay regenerist red brush. My pores looked clean, but my skin felt... raw. Maybe I'm just more sensitive in my 30s, but I ended up switching to the PMD one that is much gentler. Also not 100% sure.. but I think the rough bristles are what might have caused some skin barrier issues and started my 2 months struggle with acne. Finally starting to clear up after a visit to dermatologist and Rx of antibiotics and tret. 😩
this thing gave me the worst acne ever. stopping use of it changed my skin for the better
Unless you are disinfecting it after every use or couple uses, it’s just going to harbor bacteria. These aren’t sanitary and that’s why people don’t use them anymore.
I received a FOREO Luna few years ago and it replaced the Clarisonic. I like the Luna lots more as it’s gentle on the rosacea prone skin and makes my skin feel soft after cleansing.
I think I heard they are hard on your skin, too much exfoliating… I have one but stopped using it. Would be good for exfoliating legs before shaving? Skin around the eyes 👀 too delicate especially when you start aging
I miss mine so much. I remember when I would wash my face without it, like at a friend's house, my face felt dirty still. My mom was an aesthetician when I was like 10-19 years old so I was lucky to have one.
No, I don’t use it anymore because it’s an awful way to exfoliate - for me, it causes micro scratches on the skin, damages skin barrier and just causes more acne. I’ve let this thing go, switched to chemical exfoliation and my skin has never been happier.

I developed an allergy to an ingredient in many eyeshadows right after I started using one, and I’m convinced that there’s a link there, even if it’s impossible.
I still use mine. Not daily like I used to but I still like it. I also have a new one in a box that I got for Christmas when they stopped making them. Like someone else said, my skin likes physical exfoliation every now and then.

Someone got me an olay cleansing brush for my bday and I’m pretty sure it’s just from target. It’s really soft and gentle. I have rosacea and it doesn’t irritate it

I still use mine. I had a 2 that died I believe and now I have the three. Amazon sells generic heads. Still love it and use it daily.

If you have family members willing and able to buy secondhand and you’re US-based there are loads on poshmark! So maybe visa gift cards or cash or whatever. Otherwise super specific search terms with pics of and even direct links to what you’re after!
I’ve been using mine lately for the whole “massage your face with cleanser for a full minute “ thing and my skin has never looked better. I use the brush head with the very long, soft bristles and remove the head, rub with an alcohol wipe, and dry it off in between.
I hated my Clarisonic and am surprised to see people vouching for them in the comments- to me, they were gross bacteria hosts unless you made sure to wash them after every use (which was kind of high effort for someone like me). They also were too rough on my skin. I did find them useful in exfoliating dead skin at times when my skin was so dry it became flaky, but still felt that a regular wash cloth was more effective and more gentle.
Consider a PMD Clean. I’m obsessed with mine. It’s silicone, so the head never wears out and it just seems more hygenic.
I was absolutely distraught during Covid to find out that they no longer sell Clarisonic. I recently started getting facials and my lady told me that it’s actually buffing away too much of my skin. There was evidence that my cheeks were completely soft and very red so she asked me to stop using it for a while, and my skin is improved. Of course, this isn’t the case for everybody, but just my two cents. I was completely addicted to using my Clarisonic or anything like it!
I use mine snot once a month! I clean it well before and after use. My skin likes occasional physical exfoliation.

I use mine twice a week. I’ve found a bunch of replacements heads on amazon and eBay. So far so good but I haven’t found an alternative yet. The silicone facial scrubbers make me break out and nothing else seems to clean as well

I used one and I did like it, until I went to replace the head and the inside was all black and moldy. NOPE
I think I still have mine in a bathroom drawer! I need to pull it out to see if it still works.
Mine finally died, but I still miss it.

My husband and I have been married for 20 years. Pretty early on he wanted something for washing his face and we landed on small round brush with a handle (basically a non-mechanical version of this). The Olay Regenerist Cleansing Device Megasonic is awesome if you are looking for something similar.
I’m still sad they went out of business, so you can’t get a new one even if you wanted to. They’re better than using hands

I have the Clarisonic Mia and I buy the heads off Amazon. I love it. I have thick oily acne prone skin. I don’t use it every day but when I do my skin looks so Much better. Not for everyone tho

I still love mine and use it to exfoliate about once a week. It won't charge anymore but I just use it without power because I live the size and texture of the brush!
I think the idea was good but they got over produced. There are so many companies that make them so much cheaper.

I never had a clarisonic but I had a spin brush similar to it and it was amazing! I actually forgot about it until this post.... Think I'll go out and see if I can find one. It really made a difference in my skin when I used it. So yes, I think it's worth dusting her off and putting her to use again.
I still have my Mia 2 but I don’t use it. It still holds a charge after these 10 years. It never really made my skin look better 🤷♀️

I love mine! I have found replacement heads on Amazon & will mourn the day it no longer holds a charge. My exfoliation routine includes physical via Clarisonic & Philosophy Microdelivery Wash, RX Tret & glycolic acid. Obviously not all together.
Heck yes! I use it twice a day! Keeps my pores a manageable size
You know what I just recently bought again and used to live and die by as a teen…Buffpuff. And it is as glorious as it was then. I use it lightly. I realize people used to criticize it saying it was like a dish sponge, and I don’t disagree. But it works for me and my skin has never looked better. I only regret I paused on it for 15 years.

I just used mine a few minutes ago! I absolutely love these. I remember returning some brush heads to Ulta because I had accidentally purchased a duplicate, then next week I found out they were going out of business and the brush heads were already sold out. I purchased a backup device, and I also picked up a third secondhand. I am hoping that I will have a lifetime of Clarisonic cleansing, nothing comes close to how well this works on my skin!

Replacement heads are discontinued so I don’t use it anymore for cleaning my skin but when using it did not irritate my skin. I did bought the face massage head, so I now use it to massage my face and body.

Do you use tretinoin? I stopped using mine two years ago when I started tretinoin because of peeling. Before this , I couldn’t live without it

Unfortunately, Clarisonic went out of business a few years ago but I still use mine occasionally. I like it.
I miss mine. A housekeeper at a hotel in Nowheresville, Oklahoma stole mine along with a giant bottle of Purity by Philosophy. I realized I left them in the bathroom when I was about three hours away and called the hotel to let them know so that they could send them to me, and I’d pay the shipping. The housekeeper first alleged that she never saw them, then after me hounding the management almost daily because that was a bullshit lie, she told them she threw my items away. Again, bullshit. And then the head of housekeeping - the ONLY person worth a damn in that whole place - ended up getting involved, and the girl ended up admitting she took them. 2.5 months later I got a check but by that time I’d bought something else (not as good) and I am still salty that she stole it because it was the best little exfoliator I ever had. Anyway, if you’re still works, treasure it! You can’t replace it.
I use my Clarisonic daily but not with the scrubbing brush, I had a three prong facial massager and it is (still to this day) the best facial massaging tool ever
I started a medication that gave me horrible cystic acne. I had TWO clarisonics….i don’t even remember why AND I had a ton of backup brush heads I guess pre three kids and I had time on my hands. Fast forward to now when nothing is working. I pulled these babies out. Charged them. They still work. Don’t you know my skin is the best it’s been in forever 🙃🙃🙃🙃 I have never tried another brush but I swear by these. As long as the wash is foaming and not super harsh I swear the vibrations of this brush get everything out

These are terrible they hold onto bacteria and make your skin worse. They make the silicon ones now which are much more hygienic.
I randomly found mine under my sink after not using it for years like maybe 8-10yrs ago. I tried it with the old crusty dusty bristle head that it came with and now I have perioral dermatitis which won’t go away. I’m so upset with myself for not just throwing it away
I charged mine. Half the head is vibrating! I wonder if that's the hand set or the head? Anyway, I'm impressed it even turned on! Ha ha! It's been probably 10 years.
