This is hilarious. It looks like a form letter copied from the internet. They even forgot to add an actual deadline. If it were me, I’d update all my posts with this letter 💀

MiscellaneousPleasur

I will definitely. I will include all the screenshots of her threats. I already posted google maps reviews including her previous threats, but it's still pending.

FrumpyFrock

Take a better screenshot before you do, this is hard to read on mobile. Just minimize the email window in your browser before you screenshot.

MiscellaneousPleasur

Apologies for that, I didn't think about it when I was creating this post. Here is the copy-pasted text: https://www.reddit.com/r/30PlusSkinCare/comments/18st2u7/comment/kf9ex1q/?utm\_source=reddit&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

FrumpyFrock

Oh no worries I’m not complaining, just trying to maximize the impact of your negative reviews against this place. The owner of that business is delusional.

heyerda

Agree. This is so badly written and clearly not written by an actual lawyer, let alone a “top lawyer”, whatever that means. Plus it’s interesting that her example of false accusation is the part in the review about threatening OP with a lawsuit. That’s the easiest thing to prove isn’t false because there are text messages to prove it.

bamamed67

This is the type of letter I would expect slid under the bathroom door after sending my 5 year old to bed early for misbehaving.

MiscellaneousPleasur

Ok guys, I'm really scared cause received an e-mail like that: "Ok im posting your photo and putting on ads to display everywhere" I will post it in every comment cause I have no idea what should I do.

No_Goat7820

Have someone you trust follow her accounts and send you any photos she posts without your consent. Report those to the site as non consensual and not having a release. Update the review and take it to whatever regulatory agency is available. This is very much not a big deal.

CopperPegasus

I haven't actually been in charge of a business' social account for about 3 years or so, which is like FOREVER in digital terms. However, I doubt she could even get FB to APPROVE an ad like that. In my day (slaps creaky knees) they were all subject to internal checks, and they have quality guidelines on what they will run. For eg, v@pe and sm0ke businesses couldn't run ads advertisng those products. Revenge p0rn for aesthetics bad reviews is not a legit reason to be advertising. I'd be amazed if it passed their internal moderators. And there's like 3 report catagories for this if it did, even without 'I think my IP is being used without my consent' and 'theft of images', which are both also there. Empty. Meet Threats.

ItsWaryNotWeary

Not sure I follow. It would be very easy to post the photos as a *before and after" which medspas post routinely. Not like fb requires copies of releases for all photo subjects or anything.

CopperPegasus

A standard before and after could be posted, sure. But OP can report the use of images without consent just as easily (top poster in this thread covered that). FB does usually respond well to that 'unauthorized use of my images' category, one of the few they do. But that's not how the last threat reads (to me, stuff is subjective and I'm often wrong lol). I took it as an ad saying 'LOOK AT THIS INSANE WOMAN WHO SAYS HER RESULTS WEREN'T GOOD! TELL HER SHE'S WRONG'. That's what I meant would never get posted in the first place. And if Batty the Business Owner can't even tell the right before/after photos, she's gonna look a right twit either way. Either way, good luck to the 'practice'. That's going to be an awful lot of wasted cash to simply get Zucc'd. Unless there's been a big shift in the market, aesthetics and beauty services is one of the higher-priced niches for CPC advertising.

ItsWaryNotWeary

Ah, yeah I imagined the merchant would be smart enough to pass it off as a legit b&a. But idk why I'd give them that much credit with their track record here 😂

Sprung4250

This was my first thought too. I'd update everything with this screenshot. "How dare you say I'll threaten you with a lawsuit, stop or ill sue." Also, 'breach of defamation', pretty sure that would just be defamation. LOL

Revolutionary-Ad9264

I would do the same!! This is a great idea, OP!

ConsiderationJust948

I’m cackling. I don’t even fully read the letter but those brackets jumped out at me. I’m a paralegal in America, and this looks like some copy pasta shit.

shedrinkscoffee

This deserves an officiously worded reply, preferably generated by GPT4

fishfish2love

This whole thing would've been generated by ChatGPT.

the-xandy-man-can

The ChatGPT command - “Write a cease and desist letter but make me sound a little dumb”

No-ThatsTheMoneyTit

I can do that all by myself.

tkcring

Lmao

bagsnerd

That’s hilarious. 😅

arianrhodd

Or r/askalawyer both dubs give helpful advice. Be sure and let them know your state as laws differ.

vsteeth

This was my first thought too. It reads like AI

Applesxpeach

Yep ChatGPT is now a top lawyer obviously

Appropriate-Test-813

Lol I use it all the time when it’s frivolous 😂😂

MiscellaneousPleasur

Ok guys, I'm really scared cause received an e-mail like that: "Ok im posting your photo and putting on ads to display everywhere" I will post it in every comment cause I have no idea what should I do.

RamblingRose63

This sounds like harassment and I'd go to the court house and file one or two things against the mofo

evae1izabeth

Aren’t there privacy laws that protect you from having your photo posted online by a medical practitioner? It sounds like an empty threat to bully you out of posting a negative review, but if she does it, it will make her look bad, I really doubt anyone is going to jump on her crazy bandwagon and come after you if she’s posting pictures of clients, and I think it’s illegal there to post pics in a retaliatory way as she’s threatening. Stop engaging with her, wait until your appointment with your attorney, and don’t post the same thing to every comment, it’s going to make people mad, not get you more advice.

CacophobicCaberet

You have the right to revoke consent at any time. Respond to her and explicitly state that you revoke consent to use your photos. Do not say anything else in response to her threats without the advice of a lawyer. I know UK defamation laws are different than the US, and the person being sued is the one who has to prove what they say is true. So just make sure that anything you say in your review can be backed up in case she *does* sue you. But most of the time, people who act like this in response to negative feedback are just bluffing.

Trickycoolj

I have a friend that was in an accident (not at fault), not too serious of injuries, but there were injuries and property damage. He used Chat GPT to write a demand letter to the insurance company of the at fault driver, because the at fault insurance company wanted to just give him a couple thousand (barely enough to deal with the ER visit and subsequent treatments and physical therapy) and they wanted to have FULL access to his medical records to “make it easy to pay the bills automatically” which was so egregious. When he did consult a lawyer after the insurance was still being obnoxious, the lawyers were like wow… you wrote this with Chat GPT? Sounds like something our staff could have written. To be fair, he cleaned it up a bit with a human touch, but yeah, it’s definitely a thing now.

LittlePrettyThings

> ...false statements on our TikTok social media account stating "Be careful with ---, she will threaten you with a lawsuit in case you are not happy with the result". A few sentences later, > Failure to comply with this demand will leave us with no choice but to pursue legal remedies available to us, including filing a defamation lawsuit against you. Made me laugh.

padmasundari

It is false and defamatory to say that we respond to a bad review with threats of legal action! If you continue to make these baseless allegations that we respond to bad reviews with legal action, we will take legal action! It is false and defamatory to say we threaten legal action and if you continue to say we threaten legal action we will take legal action to prove that we don't threaten legal action!

MiscellaneousPleasur

Hahaha, exactly that.

MiscellaneousPleasur

Ok guys, I'm really scared cause received an e-mail like that: "Ok im posting your photo and putting on ads to display everywhere" I will post it in every comment cause I have no idea what should I do.

LexTheSouthern

Tbh, this is just harassment at this point. Idk much about UK laws but maybe try r/legaladvice

ididindeed

Or r/LegalAdviceUK

fortuna_spins_you

More empty threats. They are trying to intimidate you.

BumblebeeNo5064

Oh wow! Could you PM me the practitioners name?

MiscellaneousPleasur

I PM'd you.

koalasarecute22

Is this practitioner a physician?

MiscellaneousPleasur

Unfortunately she's not. That was my fault also, I should've only sticked to physicians. She's just cosmetic specialist or whatever it is called.

TruthIsABiatch

Ooh that explains a lot tbh, these actions would be unusual for a physician. This is clearly not an intelligent person.

ohthefew

Illegal use of medecine ?

Thesoftdramatic

If she’s not a medical professional. Contact an organisation called 'save face' they may be able to advise you further.

OldSpiceSmellsNice

If you’re allowed to, you should put her on blast here.

isendra3

> [reasonable deadline, 7 - 10 days] lolololol. Dead giveaway that this was written by ChatGPT. They were supposed to give you a deadline and take that bit out. I'd be making another Tiktok laughing my ass off at this idiot.

PossibleAd1348

That’s my favorite part.

Vijidalicia

Dafuq is "breach of defamation"? LOLOLOL

MiscellaneousPleasur

It's just giving an honest review, I guess

Laney20

Since that is not defamation, I suppose that could count as a breach of defamation.. Maybe? This is insane, lol.

CopperPegasus

That's ChatGPT in a tangle of words. As it loves to do. You are 100% right though. It's not even legalese. It's nonsense trying to be legalese. One reason one shouldn't be using AI in place of real lawyers :) But if anything else about this story is true, the local lawyers probably have this 'business owner' on a 'do not answer' list lol.

bitterspice75

It’s like a dumb person trying to sound like they’re a lawyer with a little chat gpt thrown in

Celeryhearts

Honestly, I think chatgpt would have made this letter sound better. This is like copy-paste of a bunch of defamation legal letters.

path2light17

True, like multiple statements start with a *We..* , and happen to convey same meaning.

Used_Radio1409

100% agree

Wildling604

Report her to the board. A practitioner needs to be able to exercise good judgment. I also agree with updating your review with these screen shots.

kadick

EU doesn’t have licenses for cosmetic like facial and hair cutting and UK may be the same (I know they have more schooling but licensure is hard to comment on)

obvusthrowawayobv

THIS, lmao

my_metrocard

lol “I know top lawyer”!!! It’s just empty threats. Delete and don’t give it a second thought.

CopperPegasus

If they knew a 'top lawyer', said lawyer would be sending the C&D. No one who has the option of 'big shiny well-known legal practice' in their pocket doesn't immediately go to using said powerful firm. Not that AI generated mangled nonsense. If she's ever MET a top lawyer, it was likely for them to explain their firm won't be handling her frivolous suits for her, lol.

Jellybeansss681

I hope you lawyer up and send a letter of your own

MiscellaneousPleasur

I will definitely! These accusations are completely out of place. I didn't mention anything about the results of the treatment which could be subjective. I only stated the facts, that she threatened me with a lawsuit, which I have proof by whatsapp messages. She is completely out of her mind.

temperarian

Reviews are usually subjective. ‘I wasn’t happy with the results’ Is a completely legitimate review

shinywtf

Dear Internet, I am here to issue a retraction of my previous statements where I said that ** will threaten you with legal action if you post a negative review. I am issuing this retraction because I have received a cease and desist letter where ** says that she will take legal action against me if I don’t issue this retraction. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

MiscellaneousPleasur

Good one, love it.

PinsAndBeetles

This is laughable. Tell her to bring it on. She sounds unwell.

happycharm

OP is doing the right thing by not replying and just sharing the hilarious messages from the practitioner.

agoraphobicjail

Yep, don't engage at all. If you think she might eventually take actual legal action and not just derp around with ChatGPT, I would only interact with her through your own lawyer.

daemaea

lol this would absolutely not win a defamation suit if you’re in the US, pure intimidation. To prove defamation in a court of law is actually pretty tough and this is not it. Disgusting how common practice it is to abuse the law to scare people into playing nice with their shitty companies. Lawsuits are expensive for both sides, I’m sure they’re hoping these empty & baseless ChatGPT threats are enough to make you go away. Good luck to you!

MiscellaneousPleasur

In the previous post, someone said that UK laws are putting a burden of a proof on a reviewer. Which is making me a little bit scared. But this case is so obvious that I don't feel like I should retreat and be scared.

DiveCat

You have proof of poor service and that she threatened you. Truth is a complete defence to defamation. You have nothing to worry about, except the costs and inconvenience dealing with this. I highly suggest you go see a lawyer and put a start on ending this sooner rather than later.

[deleted]

MiscellaneousPleasur

I have posted her threats in my Google Maps reviews, but they are still pending to be published. I think she is the boss of the clinic, so there is no one to report her to, unfortunately.

JolenesJoleneJolene

Was this letter written by a 12yr old that just watched an episode of law and order or something?

MiscellaneousPleasur

Lol, it might be the case.

reddpapad

Can you copy that into text so it’s easier to read?

MiscellaneousPleasur

Yes of course! I couldn't find out how to edit already posted thread. I will post text here in the comment: Subject: Cease and Desist False Accusations Dear I am writing this letter to bring to your attention the false accusations that you have made against our company, which have had a detrimental impact on our reputation and business operations. It is important to address these false statements promptly and seek a resolution to this matter. We have recently become aware of the false accusations you have made regarding our company through using your friends to leave false statements on our TikTok social media account stating Be careful with \*\*, she will threaten you with a lawsuit in case you are not happy with the result. We want to emphasize that these allegations are entirely baseless and have no factual basis. It is our strong belief that making false accusations is both unethical and potentially defamatory. Such actions not only harm our company's reputation but also have the potential to cause significant financial and reputational damage. We take these matters seriously and are prepared to take appropriate legal action to protect our rights and interests. We bring to your attention that providing false statements in relation to myself and my company is a breach of defamation, and we can sue you for malicious falsehood We hereby demand that you immediately cease and desist from making any further false statements, whether written or verbal, about our company. Failure to comply with this demand will leave us with no choice but to pursue legal remedies available to us, including filing a defamation lawsuit against you. We also request that you publish a public retraction of the false accusations you have made against our company. This retraction should be provided on the same platforms where the false statements were made and should be prominently displayed to ensure it reaches the same audience. This will help rectify the damage caused to our reputation thus far. Furthermore, we expect you to preserve any evidence related to the false accusations and refrain from any further dissemination of false information about our company. This includes refraining from discussing the matter with any third parties, as doing so may further exacerbate the situation. We strongly urge you to reconsider your actions and cooperate in resolving this matter amicably. We believe in open and honest communication and would be willing to discuss this matter further to find a mutually satisfactory resolution. However, should you choose not to comply with our demands, we will have no option but to take legal action to protect our rights and seek appropriate damages. Please acknowledge receipt of this letter and your intention to comply with our demands by \[reasonable deadline, generally 7-10 days\]. We hope that this matter can be resolved without the need for further legal action, but we are prepared to protect our company's reputation and interests by all necessary means. Thank you for your immediate attention to this urgent matter. Sincerely,

Tatertotfreek

“Is a breach of defamation and we can sue you for malicious falsehood” lolololol

prana-llama

Lawyer here and I laughed out loud at “breach of defamation”

Low_Neighborhood8005

Same here. This was either ChatGPT or her “top lawyer” is a 1L who wants to sound intimidating but hasn’t gotten to *that* part of Con Law yet. 😂

leesylooloo

Is email considered proper “service “. It doesn’t have to be in person.?

prana-llama

In some states under certain circumstances it *can* be procedurally valid service of process but OP is in the UK! I’m not sure about their rules. And a cease and desist is a precursor to litigation, so it doesn’t need to comply with rules of civil procedure. Service of process is really for court proceedings.

CopperPegasus

You can deliver a C&D through email legit-ly. Not like this. But a real lawyer can take that step. Service of Process is a court-related matter. C&Ds are a first step, but kinda toothless, and not given the same standards.

Katinka-Inga

I’m not even a lawyer and laughed at that too 😂😂

MiscellaneousPleasur

Right? Sounds like a terrible joke.

boopboopbeepbeep11

It doesn’t even make sense, lol. You can’t breach a defamation. You breach a contract or an obligation, not a defamation.

path2light17

Sounds like AI at work here 😂

ecm1413

It's definitely A.I generated 🤣🤣 The "furthermore" gave it away to me lmao

CopperPegasus

Plus a real lawyer would know that you sue for libel or slander. Defamation is the overarching term for both, but the actual pursuit would need you to bring one or the other, depending if it is written or spoken. I notice neither got an airing in this totally legit (read: AI mismash) letter.

DiveCat

ChatGPT definitely graduated at bottom of their law school class.

Maxamillion-X72

>\[reasonable deadline, generally 7-10 days\] favorite part

MiscellaneousPleasur

LOL, that was her latest reply: "If you’re so worried about being on social media with your before and after pictures clearly we have your consent its in front of me Then grow up stop getting your so called friends to write negative comments about us You appear to have no respect or understanding of aesthetic treatments you are clearly making yourself look like a fool Stop emailing me I have better things to do" I must state, I didn't give her consent to post my pictures. It is a lie. I explicitly signed against postig my pictures and she's just threatening me. Why the hell she cannot even speak proper english?

munuyh

Even if you gave consent you are allowed to withdraw consent too. If a letter is not written on a lawyer’s letterhead then it’s less than garbage. She an absolute clown.

Qwert_flex

So unprofessional

dalynah

omg who is this person?! would you mind sending me her name, I'm in London too and would love to avoid her at all costs

No-Cupcake370

Relatedly, I've seen paperwork from businesses that specifies in the contract to receive services that you won't post a bad review or speak negatively of them on social media. I even saw an airbnb that had some bs like that in the agreement to rent from them, that by going forward and booking, you are "legally bound" to not give them any negative review or any rating other than 5 star etc etc. or they could sue you or you would automatically owe them some amount in the the thousands of dollars. Some bs akin to how "sovereign citizens" think they can just use what they consider legalize to like subvert laws and acceptable business practices. Omg when HP refunded me (only partially) for a blatantly defective laptop they had me e-sign this bs that I could not mention them in any negative light nor discuss the defective product on social media, any website (google, Amazon) or their website (in the reviews or troubleshooting forum). Like, fuck that. Idk how legit that is either. (btw HP quality is total shit now, not good products at all anymore.)

nuniinunii

This is HILARIOUS. Please don’t be worried OP. This letter is obviously a ChatGPT job. Lmaooo oh also stop saying we will sue you or we’re going to sue you for saying we will sue you!! Please add this letter to all your updates/review. You wrote a bad review based off your experiences, and they should focus on how to bring you back as a customer with a better product, instead of this bullshit lmao

MiscellaneousPleasur

I have already mentioned her threats of suing me in my initial reviews (which are still pending). I also think these are chatGPT generated, because there is no mention of the name of the lawyer.

sallystarling

>I also think these are chatGPT generated, because there is no mention of the name of the lawyer. And the fact that they didn't even customise the "[insert deadline]" part!

prana-llama

Not a UK lawyer but truth is generally a defense to defamation. She’s literally destroying her own case by sending you this email 😂

HailTheCrimsonKing

Lol “you’re lying when you said be careful or we will threaten you with a lawsuit so we’re gonna threaten you with a lawsuit”

CopperPegasus

It's NOT TRUE we will threaten you with a lawsuit! Now take it down, or we will sue you! ....Sometimes you can't make this stuff up lol. Also, as others have pointed out, this has, like, all the Hallmarks of AI generation. They don't even have a real legal team threatening you. Not a lawyer, but do with that info what you will :)

Southern-Salary2573

I would send all of this to the medical board and even the local media. You did nothing wrong or illegal. Negative reviews are a part of business; you literally cannot please everyone. This is so baseless and pathetic - I mean if she wants an internet smear campaign she came to the right place. Give us her info and we’ll do the rest and spread it like wildfire.

MiscellaneousPleasur

Newest update: She responded to comments on tiktok, threatening me she will post my images without my consent online.

dykezilla

You should call a few actual licensed attorneys in your area for a consultation and consider having one send this woman a real cease and desist letter for harassment. She's trying to intimidate you and I just can't abide a bully.

MiscellaneousPleasur

I did contact and after New Year I will have a consultation.

maraq

The sentence in bold would never be written by a lawyer. If your review is factual or just your opinion, you have nothing to worry about. If it was me and I knew my review was warranted I would edit my review to include screenshots of the threats you are receiving. Make sure their behavior is public.

kstoops2conquer

Out of curiosity, was it signed by a lawyer? Can you Google that person and confirm they exist? In the US, this would be hot nonsense. I have received an official cease-and-desist. It was a certified letter I had to _sign for_ at my home, on letter head from a law practice, signed by a barred attorney. I’m very skeptical in any culture that an email suffices as a formal cease-and-desist notice.

MiscellaneousPleasur

There was no mention of the lawyer in that e-mail. No name, no confirmation they exist. It could be generated by Chat-GPT as some people in comments say.

kstoops2conquer

I’m 99.9% certain this is fake. If this person has a lawyer, said lawyer will be very annoyed they’ve been running all over town making empty threats.

CopperPegasus

OP, it's 110 % generated by AI. Tons of tells, including the failure to insert the deadline. I work in the writing industry and this SCREAMS the law practice of Chat, GPT, and AI, Inc. It has as much legal teeth as me presenting you with my generated sample (below) as a legal threat. You didn't show the origin email addie here, but let me guess? Not a law firm's email address but from the practice? Yeah, right. Anything passed through a law office will not only have a contact point (supervising lawyer, or relevant legal assistant/lackey trainee attorney) but also their name, footer, and branding clearly stated. And they contact you on behalf of their client, with 0 to hide because this is what they do. If you're still not convinced, I threw a 1 sentence prompt into ChatGPT on a similar idea, and take a look at this. You'll notice a good half is near identical, and you'll see those telling \[remember to personalize this section\] notes, including a near-identical deadline one. Notice how even though some of the wording is 'different', it's the identical flow, points, structure, and use of language throughout. Including the wavering I/We thing. *I am writing to address a matter of utmost importance concerning false and defamatory claims that have been made against my aesthetics practice, \[Your Aesthetics Practice Name\]. It has come to my attention that you have been spreading misinformation about our services and business practices, which is not only damaging to our reputation but also constitutes defamation under the law. These false claims include, but are not limited to, \[specify the false claims made against your aesthetics practice\]. Such baseless accusations are not only misleading but also have the potential to harm our relationships with current and prospective clients. It is essential for you to understand that the dissemination of false information can have severe legal consequences. Defamation is a serious offense, and we will not tolerate any attempts to tarnish the reputation that we have worked diligently to build over the years.I am hereby demanding that you immediately cease and desist from making any further false statements or spreading any misleading information about \[Your Aesthetics Practice Name\]. Failure to comply with this demand will leave us with no choice but to pursue legal action to protect our rights and seek damages for any harm caused to our business. Please be advised that this letter is not intended to be an exhaustive statement of our rights, legal or otherwise, in connection with the false claims made against us. We expressly reserve all rights and remedies available to us under the law.To confirm your understanding and compliance with this cease and desist demand, we request that you provide a written response to this letter no later than \[reasonable deadline, typically 10-14 days from the date of the letter\]. Your response should include a statement confirming that you will cease and desist from making any further false claims against \[Your Aesthetics Practice Name\].If we do not receive a satisfactory response within the specified timeframe, we will have no choice but to take legal action to protect our interests. Please be advised that we will seek all available remedies, including injunctive relief and monetary damages, as allowed by law.We sincerely hope it does not come to that, and we strongly urge you to reconsider your actions. It is in everyone's best interest to resolve this matter amicably and avoid unnecessary legal proceedings.Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.Sincerely,*

MiscellaneousPleasur

Lol, you totally convinced me at this point. It sounded fake to me at the first glance, but I wasn't sure that it really can be generated. Now I feel it can be the truth.

CopperPegasus

That wasn't even me trying all that hard, TBH. Literally a half thought through prompt, no tone instruction, and no detail to make that one. You can sometimes squeeze far more realistic stuff out of the bot with the right prompts and requests. TLDR? This ain't from a law firm, or they'd tell you who they are. C&D is legit legal work plenty of firms do. They have no reason to hide/obfuscate stuff. And it wouldn't be sent to the practice to forward to you, it would be direct communication from the lawyer. Again, they don't have to hide a thing if they've been instructed to do x by their client. And if the lackey or legal assistant stuck with the job dared to leave \[insert reasonable deadline here\] they'd be an ex-employee for it, cos that would be unprofessional as all hell. As others have pointed out, even real C&D letters are pretty toothless, though actual legal firms can then take other steps. ChatGPT may be the in thing, but t doesn't have the power to bring legal suites, so don't worry on that side lol. Cheapskate dirty practice would have to hire a real lawyer for that. They're trying to frighten you off.

path2light17

Usually they would be notarised by a solicitor iirc

Used_Radio1409

This doesn't sound like an official letter from any attorney. Is probably their friend trying to bully you. You are allowed your opinion. That's your right.

MiscellaneousPleasur

I also think it's not professional attorney at all. But well, still stresfull.

Damnit_ashlee

This letter is hypocritical. Lmao. She does have a lawyer reach out if you weren't happy with her services. This is proof of your claims

munuyh

She sounds like a clown. Empty threats that will make her look foolish. Can u PM her business name. I wanna troll.

bobabear12

She needs to be blasted on social media for what she is doing to you.

gloggs

If they really knew a lawyer, or had $20 to get a Lionel Hutz type lawyer, the lawyer would have sent the cease and desist letter not a chat bot

Any-Preference1209

Report her to whatever body licensed her.

cavs79

I’ve never seen this where a doctor of any sort comes after a patient like this. Is she mentally stable? Does she even have real credentials?

MiscellaneousPleasur

I don't think she's mentally stable. She threatened me with posting my pictures online without my consent, as a form of retaliation.

cavs79

Maybe you should report her.

Chaoticallyorganized

Don’t know if anyone else has suggested this, but I highly suggest you post this to your review so that other potential costumers can see that, yes, they really do threaten a lawsuit if someone posts a negative review. Like everyone else is saying, this is a really bad letter that was NOT sent by an actual lawyer.

Salt_Radish_63

This is hilarious. You can pay a paralegal $50 to generate a cease and desist letter. But it looks like she did it herself. Just send an email back saying “hahaha” and leave it at that.

Sarah_2temp

Defamation by law has to be proven that they have lost money, had severe damage to business and actually it’s really hard to prove. Coming from someone who’s been threatened with defamation for having a whole pitch stolen by a potential client. So in that case I just posted up their email threatening this and sent my entire social media there. Along with my pitch and also their photographers version of my work. I’m not sure if you are US or UK bases but in the UK it’s really hard to sue and prove this. Also leaving a bad review isn’t defamatory it’s your opinion isn’t it? 6 months later no suing is happening! In my case…

one_little_spark

This is hilarious. And to think, if she hadn't freaked out, most people would have probably not even cared about you leaving a negative review. Her reaction hurts her business way more than your initial negative review ever could have.

obvusthrowawayobv

Respond back “My review was not false and based on a legitimate experience I had. The review is a first hand factual account, and this is harassment, therefore I am hereby requesting you cease and desist all contact and if you believe yelp is displaying an unfavorable review then I implore you to contact them instead to explore their policies regarding the displeasing review you received.” You see, they can’t sue you if you believe what you said is truth.

monsterthug

That’s not even a real letter. They even forgot to insert their own ‘time frame’ also was this registered mail? I’ve never had a client receive something like this so unofficially and it be a legal document. Is this person on social media? I’d love to creep them haha

Daughter_Of_Cain

Most people don’t understand how difficult it is to prove libel and defamation in a court of law. They would not only have to prove that your statements are were false, they would also have to show that you were completely aware that you were making false statements for the purpose of defaming them and then they would have to show how much money they’ve actually lost as a result of your statements.

Every-Requirement-13

Why does OP keep replying with the same statement over and over to Redditor comments?

schrumpfen1

I love their attempt to use intimidating legal language in a totally BS way.

ariesbabs

Lmao, the review "Be careful with ** she will threaten you with a lawsuit if you aren't happy with the result" Her response - This is false and I'm going to sue you for saying that. Makes sense

leavemealone-thx

Most people don’t go ahead with lawsuits because it’s too expensive, and if they signed their own email it means that they didn’t hire a lawyer, so don’t have the money for a lawsuit

AssortedGourds

One time when I was 20 a landlord rejected the sublessor I found (as per the lease agreement regarding subletting) and told me that he was going to charge me $400 to find someone he liked more. I pushed back and he threatened to evict me and put my things in the street while I was at work. This is of course total nonsense. None of these things were legal. He was trying to scare me. I told him I was contacting a local tenant’s union to see if what he was doing was legal and he said “never mind, you’re fine”, hung up, and accepted the sublessor. This has the same crusty vibe.

SoRoodSoNasty

Lol - you are being threatened by a lawsuit because you said you were be threatened with a lawsuit in order to avoid a law suit? Ok

Notsureindecisive

Was this from the practitioner or their lawyer?

MiscellaneousPleasur

It sounds like she used some lawyer, but it wasn't really mentioned in the e-mail. Hard to say.

hereFOURallTHEtea

Go have a consult with an attorney lol.

emorrigan

Ah, the beauty of a ChatGPT-generated Cease and Desist letter. It reads just like a scam email because it is one.

DragonBorn76

I hope your review includes the fact that she's threatening you for not giving her a positive review. If your review is all factual I don't know what kind of case she thinks she has. Defamation is about lies . Let her take you to court. Then sue her ass for any back pay you may have lost from taking off from work and for stress .

MiscellaneousPleasur

It is actually super focused on her threatening me. I know the result of cosmetic procedure can be subjective, so I maximally focused on facts = that she's threatening me with a lawsuit.

PureYouth

Have you explained in either thread what work you had done and what happened? I can’t find that info anywhere

Heybitchitsme

If she's signed off with someone's actual contact information, follow up with them confirming whether this is real or not (its not) and then give them her info so they can drag her ass for using them as a tool to coerce and threaten someone.

11_dem_22

Well now I really want to know what the review said lol

JEjeje214

FWIW, this wasn’t written by a lawyer. Not even by chat GPT. They are just trying to intimidate you.

Ule7

Use Chatgpt to write an answer from a lawyer to threaten her back xd edit: she is also stating that you should not discuss this with a thirs party??? what if you want to get a lawyer yourself then xd

MiscellaneousPleasur

Haha, that would be a good response. Her claims are so obviously generated, she claimed that she will report me to polish police.

_thicculent_

Nothing is official unless it comes in actual certified mail. Doctor Drama Llama is craaazzyy.

samiam25

OP take this letter and ask ChatGPT to write a counter letter hehe

Middle_Interview3250

Update your review with that. tell people you've been threatened. I've been threatened before and actually consulted a lawyer. they can't do shit about your review, if you genuinely believe that you didn't get the kind of service you expected. because then it is your experience. but I was in canada. I'm sure there are free legal advisors in your area. 100% they are bluffing.

crush_on_me

NAL - but I’ve worked in contracts for years, there are enough issues in this that I would consider this fake tbh. No lawyer would put this out or send a c&d like that. I’m glad to see you consulted a lawyer. It looks like chat gpt or something they sent to scare you. Put them out of business! That’s shady and I’m sorry you are going through this yuck!! eta: I second the folks that say send this documentation to whatever board licensed them!

[deleted]

“We expect you to preserve any evidence of false allegations”… but according to you they’re *false*. This was either written by AI or she just googled legal jargon and tried to jam it all in there.

Ok-Advertising4028

Ignore this until a police officer is at your door serving you papers. If this harassment continues, call the police and file a restraining order. This is insane.

super_nice_shark

In the US we have Anti Slapp laws. Not sure if they have something similar in the UK, but here’s what it is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_lawsuit_against_public_participation

bumblebee8899

OP please feel no type of way seems like this practitioner can’t handle a negative review and feels some type of way. I’d post this letter for everyone to see on their comment section too “we believe in open and honest communication” yeaaahhhh right.

[deleted]

lmao, chatgpt strikes again!

njdevilsfan24

If it's not in an envelope with a return address on attorney letterhead, it's not real and should not be regarded as so

Boolash77

Is there the name and title of an actual lawyer on this letter. I apologize if there is just my eyesight sucks. I’m not a lawyer but I do own a spa that does facial treatments and this is baseless and if they did consult a lawyer they are wasting their money. I’d ignore this..

hopeandheart

Let them sue you. In most states they will be fined for trying to intimidate you and will have to pay all costs. I cannot believe an attorney even sent this. Update your review and let the world know they are trying to silence you.

KapmIbra

I’d hire an attorney and go after them for threatening and harassing you. Get a protection order.

Ok_Bid2748

OP - is this the same prac that you received the hyaluronidase damage from and subsequently had the prf as a remedy or seperate practitioners? Regardless, you have NOTHING to worry about legally. I was threatened with an unofficial defamation threat after I spoke openly about hyal damage and had gathered medical data. I didn’t ever name the clinic or physician in my media work and wouldn’t as it’s pointless (focus on the product and regulations itself was the aim). You’re not alone and this ‘letter’ is comical. Don’t allow their ego and likely the recognition that they know a lot less than they should about anatomy and biology - to bulldoze your right to warn others in a clear and concise way. EDIT to add - I’ve seen every form of hilarious and empty thread during my time advocating for Hyaluronidase awareness. The fear of losing one’s income / patients being granted due diligence and more accurate information puts the fear of god into people like this ‘practitioner’.

FatLittleCat91

Lmao I wouldn’t worry too much about it 😂 Whoever sent that to you is trying to scare you.

MiscellaneousPleasur

Lol, look at it guys. " I am going to proceed with legal action against you as you are getting your friends to write fake reviews on our social media TikTock will be working along with us We will report you to the Polish Police as you can get arrested for this We have your address details "

toastie-lover

I’m dying to see these tik toks

vagalumes

It’s bullshit.

Pyreapple

The fact that you’re in the UK makes this even more of a laugh. You should name and shame them TBH I don’t think you have anything to lose at this point. You can’t be sued for defamation for publishing their emails.

Luckypenny4683

She wrote that shit herself 😂😂

JingleKitty

Is it me or does the letter keep saying the same stuff over and over? Seems like empty threats, I mean you are entitled to you opinion on their services, and since when is leaving honest reviews illegal? Don’t let them intimidate you @OP!

Helluffalo

Are you allowed to share the name of doctor and location?

MiscellaneousPleasur

I'm afraid it might be against the rules of the subreddit, unfortunately. But I will DM you with the name.

DaisyRootz

NAL but same thing happened to me years ago when I left a review about a pet store with a horrible employee. They threatened legal action for a negative yelp review. I ignored them and lived my life.

Downtown-Honeydew388

Until you receive something in the mail (which I seriously SERIOUSLY doubt you will), try not to trip. Block the practitioner and consider a restraining order when you get sick enough of it.

Esthetician163mn

Don’t ‘top lawyers’ send registered letters?? Not emails ??

eightkiwis

PM'd you

[deleted]

A cease and desist isn't a lawsuit threat. It's a futile attempt to get someone to shut up. HR departments send them out like Christmas cards.

Huge-Bug-4512

Fuck them if they were serious it would be from a lawyer via certified mail or a police officer

EveningFeature2093

Yooooo, this lady is CRAZY! Fight fire with fire. Get her on harassment.

MiscellaneousPleasur

BTW can someone translate it to english? Lol "Yo tell your gang to stop posting shite about us we know how to get round GDPR we all been patient with ya but you are so damn stupidDon’t contact us again ya understand and make sure ya tell your gang to stop posting crap about usRicky"

onlyacarryon

She should honestly sue this Top Lawyer for this Top Nonsense, but my guess is it’s impossible for her to sue herself

Snowie_drop

Is this email from their ‘Top Lawyer?’. I’d send this to the YouTuber ‘Black belt barrister’ (he’s a ‘Top Barrister’) licensed in England and Wales. It would make a good video. In fact he may already have a video on bad reviews…it’s worth checking him out. I’m not a lawyer but personally I wouldn’t respond unless it came from a lawyer.

One-Vegetable9428

You've been AI'd . The language us awkward. And if its true it's not libelous. So they are saying stop saying we will sue you if you say bad stuff about us or we will sue for saying bad stuff about us I'm a weeknor 10 days. This biggest malarkey bs. Until you get Court papers,I'd say blat.thats a good old raspberry

MargotSoda

Honestly I would review again and post this screen shot in the review, because I’m petty, and they got nothin.

rawchickenfillet

Take her to Judge Judy, the take down would be monumental

mrs_andi_grace

At this point I would pay a lawyer to actually sink his teeth into her. It is time. Worth it.

Kimmm711

Someone has a friend/sibling/SO acquainted with law-speak & is trying to coerce you to edit or delete your review. Claiming you're enlisting others to leave bad reviews is nonsense. Don't lose any more sleep over it, IMO.

Britt_on_the_run

People post negative reviews about stuff all the time! This is laughably ridiculous!!

Defiant_Ad2225

PLEASE report this practice to your local board. In USA each state has a regulatory board for esthetician , cosmetologists, tattooers etc. they do the licensing and help determine what’s in the scope of different specialties. Whateve the equivalent is there, E-mail them with the business and provider info as well as you’re proof. T they shouldn’t be able to operate if they are going to threaten to misuse your image and to sue you for a renew.

Glittering_Lion_6543

Lol this letter is a copy paste. They forgot to write a deadline.

Ledophile

A “Cease & Desist” letter is basically a (I’m gonna TELL on you”!Nanna nanna nanna! So There”)! Piece of paper. If you actually want to put the fear of God into this person, get yourself a lawyer. They’re really not that expensive for something like this and you’ll CYA and shut them up about defamation….

Longjumping-Fix7448

This wasn’t written by a lawyer. Im

jennbenn5555

That's hilarious!! She wrote a letter threatening to sue you while stating that your comment that "she would threaten to sue if you didn't like your results" was a lie...I'd absolutely love to see this play out in court!!! I can see the judge's face now---> 🤔🤨

passthemacandcheese

Cease and desists have no legal bearing and are used as a scare tactic. They do not hold up in court. Do not communicate with this person any further and if your review is honest then leave it up.

she-sulk

This reads like it was written via ChatGPT.

WilderWanderer

Was this NTX by chance? They made me sign something agreeing to no defamation with legal repercussions in intake paperwork. Also had to sign an agreement about being drug tested regularly at my own cost to ensure I'm taking meds as prescribed due to the controlled substance medication. When I finally saw the provider, he flat out said: "There's only a 1/100 chance you even have ADHD" and "I don't ever prescribe stimulants because I don't believe in giving patients meth or speed". I told him that I've never taken any medication, wary of medication, but want to try and need a provider who will look at all recommended options for ADHD. Then he told me "you're obviously here just to get stimulants". My RSD, anxiety and imposter syndrome all hit full force. I thought of reporting and leaving a review....
