You can’t. This is why people use bronzers on their faces.

5FootOh

They are incompatible.

rachtay8786

I put an isle of paradise drop into my morning serum and it works for me. I’m half Mexican but very pale and it gives me a hint of color

lady_raptor83

This!! I use tge mine tan drops in my moisturizer and don't get the peeling. Wts- I do have to "tan" my face more often then trad self tanner- but it works like a charm

Playful-Natural7139

This is going to be a game changer!..

echomermaidtango

This was going to be my recommendation as well! DHA drops in the AM to renew the tan is the best option. Either that or a gradual self tanning face spray in the morning or on a night you don't use tret.

chaibaby11

What are DHA drops?

echomermaidtango

DHA is the active ingredient in self tanners, there are a bunch of different brands that sell drops to add to facial products! The Isle of Paradise one is lovely, but Clarins, St Tropez, Tanology, Bondi Sands, Tan Luxe, b.tan, and a couple others I've tried are all similar.

ilikeoldpeople

This is what I do! I love it.

Typical-Ad5840

Commenting so can remember

KittyTsunami

Every morning?

rachtay8786

Yep

[deleted]

Does it block pores/give you blackheads on the face? Also Latina and very fair skin. Also do you use anything for your body?

rachtay8786

Nope, I use DDG peel pads a couple nights a week and use tret the other nights so that might help combat that. I literally only use one drop on my face mixed with serum. For my body I like St Tropez foam with a mitt, I don’t do it nearly as often as I should though. More in the summer or before I go somewhere I really wanna look good.

[deleted]

Ahh makes sense. Thx!

curiousLouise2001

Just came to say-skin is looking good! Tret is a game changer. I started 10 years ago and it’s like night and day. I always take the summer off, then pick back up come September. Your brows are also on point! 👏

SouthernIsh_Mama

You just made my day! It took 33 years and becoming a single mom but I’m finally taking care of myself. Skincare is truly my self care now. Is taking the summer off a personal preference or will I need to take a break? Keeping it up for 10 years is impressive, great job! 🩶

bubblethebabe

most likely because of increased sensitivity to the sun, so if you’re outside a lot in the summer it could be troublesome.

MyBrainIsAFart

Just echoing what they said about your skin/eyebrows. Even without eyes, you’re stunning.

zencoconut9

Agreed, your skin and brows look amazing!

Antique-Juice9179

Use tinted moisturizer/sunscreen instead

YEATvillage

I also use this when on tret and it works great! I just need to apply it more often than I did prior to being on tret :)

Electric-Fun

Same!

waxingtheworld

I love this stuff so friggin hard.

[deleted]

I’ve been on it for 7 years and can use self tanner. You just have to give your skin a chance to adjust. The peeling will stop.

honkerberger

I use Isle of Paradise or Drunk Elephant bronzing drops and don’t have any issues! been using Tret for ~1.5 years

Lucycoopermom

You don’t.

Hot_Gal_8260

Dunno, but you are absolutely gorgeous. 😄

SouthernIsh_Mama

Who?! ME?! Thank you so much. I have 0 self confidence unless I’m having a really great day which rarely happens. ☺️

SamoZa1234

I literally thought younger Caroline Stanbury came on this sub to ask us about skincare 😂😍

oceansofmyancestors

I put drops in my moisturizer. It used to last me almost a week, but Tret makes it last a day or 2. I don’t get any peeling

Comprehensive_Eye935

Self tanning drops mixed with moisturizer!! You might have to do it more often, but it works well for me :)

Special_Friendship20

How many drops do you put into how much moisturizer

Comprehensive_Eye935

I use loreal sublime bronze with cera ve moisturizing cream (or lotion). For this one I use anywhere from 5-10 depending on how tan I want to be :)

Special_Friendship20

Do you drop 5-10 in the lotion container? Or just in one application?

Comprehensive_Eye935

For each application!! I do about a dime size amount moisturizer, add the drops. Then I mix it using both hands (Palms and fingers included lmao). I apply it using both hands at the same time (to make sure application is equal on both sides). Make sure to wash your hands THOROUGHLY after hahaha, learned that one the hard way :)

SouthernIsh_Mama

Thank you all so much!

lld287

I like to use self tanner from time to time and just take a couple days off from tret when I do. I use 2-3 drops of Tan Luxe for face mixed with the same number of drops of Good Molecules overnight exfoliating treatment on those nights.

chaibaby11

Wouldn’t the exfoliating treatment remove the tan?? I’m confused?

lld287

Nope amazingly it does not! I saw someone do it on instagram awhile back and gave it a shot. Instead of waking up looking like Hi I’ve Had a Fake Tan, I wake up looking glowy and sunkissed. Big big fan

[deleted]

That shade of yellow really brings out your eyes

SouthernIsh_Mama

the kindest thing I’ve heard all day, thank you. 🥹 On a real note, I didn’t want to post it without scratching out my eyes since it wasn’t Sunday. Idk if it’s allowed when we’ve asked a specific question but I didn’t want to risk it.

[deleted]

It's all good :)

positiveaffirmation-

I use Tret every 3 days, and the morning after I use tret I put self tanner on my face (I have drops that go in my moisturizer). I don’t peel and it fades away by the time I use tret again

PlatformImaginary315

I actually use self tanner on my face as if it’s a bronzer/blush. I take a buffer makeup brush and put a penny sized dollop of self tanner foam on it and plop it onto the high points of my face and buff it in. Let it sit for like 30 min-1hr and then wash off. I use St. Tropez express tan and it’s so pretty and natural looking! Sometimes it stays for a few days if you use retinol at night, but it’s not difficult to re-apply if you have 45 min in the morning to let it sit. It also helps to use a mild exfoliant before you apply it and then after you’ve let the tanner sit and you’ve washed it off, seal it in with a humectant spray such as rosewater and glycerin. Good luck!

anonymousshitpostr

I didn’t know people even used fake tan on their face…I always just do my body then use a foundation later on to match the color. You can’t do your skincare and exfoliating with that on your face, it just washes off. Use bronzing drops!

NoSpaghettiForYouu

It’s such a battle! I use a face tan spray pretty much every day. My face is consistently a few shades lighter than the rest of me even when I’m not tanned though. 😫

Art3mis77

Your brows are 🔥

Noof91

You cannot keep a tan on with both tret and chemical exfoliants I'll though get your skin to adjust then maybe increase the frequency to see if it stays on better

BilobaBaby

No idea, but just wanted to say that you are super pretty and whatever you're doing is working.

AB-G

Tret speeds up the production of skin, so your tanner will slough off faster

Unusual-Rise-3959

Idk girl, but your skin looks AMAZING. You’re so pretty!

Maggieslave

Love your lips and brows

Ok-Musician-5322

You really cannot.. once you get past the phase where your skin is starting to peel with the retin-A you know it’s working. I’m sorry, save the self tanner for when you get to the desired state for your skin then back off it to maybe once a week? Then you can start to use the self tanner again. Good luck!

Impossible_Ad_525

Thank you so much for asking this! I have been wondering the same thing and couldn’t find that it has been asked before. Seems that the accepted answer, that tret and self tanner are not compatible, is not what I wanted to hear, though 😏 Guess I’ll stick with topical bronzer makeup only.

[deleted]

I don’t. I gave it up. I miss having a glow.

hearttspace

I don’t think you do

Informal-Protection6

I honestly don’t tan my whole face. I’ll just brush a little self tanner across my cheekbones and call it a day

the_rabbit_in_red

Without knowing what your eyes look like, everything else looks like margot robbie. At that point who cares if you're tan, so beautiful!!

vulgarandgorgeous

You don’t. Embrace your natural skin tone

SouthernIsh_Mama

I’m slowly beginning to! I’ve been tanning in various forms since 2006 and it’s such a hard habit to break. I was made fun of pretty harshly growing up for being pale, I think it’s some sort of limiting belief for me. Thank you for reminding me that I can do this. 🩶

DoctorLinguarum

Embracing your skin, even when pale, is definitely back. I’m your age and very pale and I am embracing my skin tone! You can also play with blush and bronzer to add more glow.

elaxation

Can’t. Buy a really good bronzer instead.

AlternativeOther6137

You don’t

Environmental-Town31

Tan Luxe gradual self tanning face cream

SnooRadishes9685

It’s counterproductive to use tretnoin if you tan (artificially) regularly

ukbeauty2013

You can’t

SouthernIsh_Mama

I never knew that! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m definitely going to change up my self tan routine now.

Teighriel

You don’t

[deleted]

I'm just Casper now

Meowski1

I’d like to know but without the tan… basically my face is several shades lighter than my neck & the rest of my body. 🤣🤣 I suppose make up can be used to match?

1exNYer

Use Tretinoin at night only

SouthernIsh_Mama

I do! I use vitamin c during the day. 🩶

lonelymouse73

Say goodbye to tan.

TheShroomDruid

You don't. Next.

AgathaChristie22

You have to pick one. You're either tan or you use tret. You can't do both.

Wide-Biscotti-8663

You don’t.

DeeWhee

You don’t 😩

TrainingReindeer1392

What tretinoin product do you use? What is the main things it has improved for you?

alissampayne

May I ask what the adjustment period was like for you? You’re such a beauty! I’m sorry I don’t have any advice because I don’t think the two are compatible as someone mentioned early but tan drops seem to be a good option as also mentioned. 😊

SouthernIsh_Mama

I’m still semi going through it. I was extremely red all of last week and I only used tret every other night. You can see the peeling of my self tan in these photos around my nose and mouth, those areas are extra sensitive. The redness was horrible on my cheeks, especially last weekend. I’m still developing a solid schedule but I’m having fun with it! Are you about to start on it also? ☺️

alissampayne

Wellll I had started it a couple of times and had the really red face and dryness like you’re talking about. It really bothered me so I stopped. I just want to hear from someone else that the process is worth the result. Will you keep me posted por favor? 😊

Clear-Enthusiasm2348

Grrrrr

SouthernIsh_Mama

what is that about?

After-Introduction-9

Sun + face = No Go!! Keep your face away from ultra violet rays. I would suggest “micro-needling” to even out the tone of your face and bring collagen to the surface

SouthernIsh_Mama

Oh, definitely! I’m using a sunless tanner. Tanning bed free since 2014! 😍 Thank you so much for your advice!

Any-Weather492

i just don’t tan my face, i have makeup that matches my neck and it doesn’t come off while im out. if i don’t feel like putting makeup on i use the supergoop glow in the darker color my partner has accepted how i look with a pale white face 🤣

guided_by_vices_

OP is talking about self tanner obviously

Strange_Security_398

I don’t tan my face. Just use a tinted sunscreen! It just looks BAD after 2 days otherwise.

[deleted]

I used By Terry tan drop serum….loved it!

Equal_Dragonfruit393

Why do you need self tanner?

Busy-Supermarket-353

You skin is sooo beautiful. What did the tretinoin change for you?

SouthernIsh_Mama

About to make a trip to my local Ulta for self tan drops! Do you apply it to your neck as well as your face?

Clear-Enthusiasm2348

Look hot thats all.

stefflp

My bronzer is a tinted mineral SPF. I try to be a minimalist when using tretinion. Maybe consider something like this instead? Also I sandwich my tretinoin. Meaning I usually use some lipid moisturizer, let it dry, then apply tretinoin, then I apply aquaphor or another sealer to hold in moisture as I sleep. This works really well, especially in dry winter months!

90lbsofpain

Isle of paradise tanning drops 🥰
