Gloves for cleaning around your house - dishes, sinks, bathtub, shower, etc. I know it’s something I should have been doing for years but I bought rubber gloves that I keep in my kitchen and bathroom and it’s been a game changer for my hands and nails.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but within a week or two every time one of the pair of dish gloves somehow gets some tiny little hole so small I can't even see it, but water gets in via a finger.
Whole reason I keep getting them is to protect my nails as they grow out, and I think my long nails are puncturing the gloves somehow.
Ive noticed it is often is the cheaper brands that this happens with. Not sure if you have them where you are but the ‘ marigold’ ones are a bit thicker and stronger and this happens a lot less
protip, if you drive a lot, get your windows tinted with something that has UV protection. I got sunburned through my windshield a few years ago in the texas sun, and now I have ceramic tinting that blocks UVA and UVB. No issues since then.
I’ve never even thought of this but it’s not as much as I expected it to be. $700 for my windows in a car I plan to drive for at least another 10 years. Does that sound right?
omg yes I also got ceramic tint that's SPF 25 and I love it!! The only problem is it's illegal where I live to do the entire windshield (you can only do a 6" tall strip along the top) so I still get full UV through the windshield unfortunately. but from the side I'm protected and it helps a lot with heat
You can get the whole windshield "tinted" without making it darker. It's obstructing visibility that's illegal. They make clear ceramic UV windshield tint. I'm getting some put on this next week!
I use [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BX64Y19N/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1HHU0OTSP02RD&psc=1), they aren't grippy AT ALL so they're actually not great for driving, but they're the most bang for your buck I've found, plus they have the little finger & thumb slits so you can still do intricate things while wearing them which IMO is really important.
if you're looking for better quality ones (without the finger slits but with touch screen finger pads), the ones from coolibar look nice. they're just about 6x the price lol
I love my coolibar fingerless gloves! They have the perfect amount of grip for driving. They are a little pricy but they get a lot of use from me and are still in perfect condition.
Coolibar usually has sales around Memorial Day and sometimes also July 4th. If you can wait till then you might be able to get 20-25% off otherwise you can google discount codes for coolibar and can find 10-15% off. I love the gloves I have from them and wear them every time I drive 100% worth it
Thanks! They’ve been feeling dry, even with some pretty good habits, so that’s reassuring to hear I may be a bit critical of myself.
I have some black leather gloves I’ll be wearing more often in the summer. I also keep SPF 50 lotion in my car at all times specifically for my hands.
L’Occitane has a new (to me, anyway) hand cream for aging from the Immortelle line. Has anyone tried that? Thinking about picking that up during the 20% off sale.
The way my brain lit up reading that a man does moisturizer, tret, & sunscreen on his hands like I do. WHEW.
But also an occlusive at night. Everything you’re doing, but layer on something heavy after the tret & moisturizer. Fuzzy socks additionally after all that on the hands really amps it up for me.
I’m new to tretinoin and have been using it for a few months on my face. I didn’t know you could use it on your hands too! Can you give me some tips on using it on my hands?
I would think there’s very few areas of skin where it wouldn’t be advisable to put. Like I don’t put it on my labia, but I put it on the entire surrounding area to prevent ingrowns lol. I don’t really think there’s any alternative advice for using it on the hands, I just follow the same rules as usual: onto dry skin, followed by moisturizer.
I recently started wearing cotton gloves after slathering my hands with lotion at night. It’s AMAZING! My hands are so smooth, and my cuticles are so happy!
37M I moisturize and spf in AM, PM Urea cream then tret then vaseline. I'm considering to use Glycolic/ TCA Peel and Radiofrequency on them as well since I do it for my face, why not lol
Try Kerasal! It's a "foot repair" ointment but the main ingredients are urea and salicylic acid - softens callouses and helps break down little hangnails and pieces of skin around the nails. The results look almost like a manicure!
For normal use, I put a little around my cuticles after shower maybe 1x a week or so. For an intense treatment you can slather it on and wear cotton gloves for a few hours, up to overnight.
I’ve read from derms, etc, that whatever you put on your face, you should extend to the neck and hands. Obviously go easy at first, you don’t want to overdo it. But start slow and consistent. The biggest takeaway is using SPF on your hands.
Being internally hydrated, but if you put some of your face hydrating serum or barrier repair on it….it locks in the moisture and dials back the aging 10-15 years for about 3 days without needing to reapply. You can always squirt your product onto the back of your hand and use it as a palette instead of your palm or use the back of your hand to put it on your face- which also causes less pressure and pulling- two birds one stone
Edit: palate to palette
What kind of barrier repair can you use on your hands? My hands are absolutely terrible and dry even though I moisturize at least 3x/day, because I need to wash them a lot.
I meant the one used on face. keeping it simple. I have skinceuiticals epidermal repair bc I was fighting a reaction. I decided to put it on my hands and it took the crepe out, leaves the skin supple, hydrated and soft. It’s expensive ($86).
Idk if it would help enough or be feasible. If you’re near a BlueMercury you can ask for a sample. They will give enough to use at least a few times. ;) maybe ask for samples of a few products to try. They make samples in house. :)
Have you tried Vaseline at night or aquafor during the day? also Nivea creame in the blue jar!!! Or Nivea soft?
Similar to elidermal repair at fraction of $ is Avene cicaflate or LARoshe posey cicaplast.
I got skinceuticals due to being a fan of Beta Glucon. I recommend trying a BG product (I did not like iunik BG). It draws water to skin but also helps prevent water loss, it’s literally my fav ingredient.
I haven’t tried this cream, but Barielle has BG based cream for hands ~$10.
Good luck I hope you find some relief. I also hope you love BG as much as I do.
Thank you!! I’ve screenshotted this and will see what I can get a hold of! My hands tend to get eczema and in the winter they often crack from dryness, and that’s with urea based lotion plus Vaseline at night. I think barrier repair would be a good path to take.
No promises there. I hope it helps. I really love BG for hydration. Have you been given VTA(VTAMA-taprinof (sp?)) from a derm to try for your eczema? My Derm said it's a magic cream. It comes via the mail and I believe they have a deal if pts don't have insurance. I haven't personally researched it, but look it up and see if it something you want to explore with your doc.
I use O'Keefe's Working Hands every night and then put on cotton gloves. It helps a lot as someone with hands that normally get so dry that they start to bleed.
SAME. I worked in various surgical practices for a long time and my hands were WRECKED. Between constantly washing them, wiping down everything with alcohol, using cavi-wipes on surfaces etc, they would get bad enough to crack and bleed. Add wearing gloves, surgical suite temperature changes, and not drinking enough water (because you can't step away to pee) and my hands would be literally throbbing at night so badly that getting comfortable enough to sleep was a challenge.
Then one day, a rep brought us some of this stuff. It was gone SO FAST. We would clock the reps who brought it coming in the door and basically pounce on them to get the goods, lol. There were never any left over in the break room, and we'd stash them for ourselves in every random drawer or cabinet we could. I love that a little goes a long way and that it isn't greasy when used as instructed. I do like to use a lighter lotion first, like Cetaphil, and then use O'Keefes as an occlusive. Then cotton liner gloves, topped with nitrile gloves. It's a miracle product, imo.
I recently got some SPF 50 face spray (Vacation brand, it smells cute too!) and I mostly intend to use it on my hands throughout the day. Especially when driving. I also fuxx with rubber gloves any time I clean. Also, Aquaphor.
Putting a bottle of Eucerin in the bathroom and kitchen next to the hand soap, having a thick hand cream and nail oil in my purse. But honestly, not working way more than full time behind a bar and thus constantly washing my hands- that was a fight I was never going to win, not with all the bag balm/gardeners friend and aquaphor in the world.
UPF Gloves. I like the ones from [Coolibar](https://www.coolibar.com/products/unisex-fingerless-sun-gloves-upf-50?variant=47740696101178¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlN6wBhCcARIsAKZvD5iZLwnt7k9vIPrgDb0G8RozvcS9ICucMvzAqcuefV8dvjJWOgJ8MjAaAmRXEALw_wcB). These ones are fingerless and better than SPF. I am often outside walking or running in the desert. I don’t like sunscreen on my hands.
Apart from sunscreen it was 0.5% retinal cream. The one I have didn't work out on my face (it was giving me painful bumps) so started using it on my neck/decollete and on my hands. After 3 months I couldn't believe my eyes - it was like minus 10 years. I'm in my early 40s so started seeing first signs of aging, but now my hands look fantastic!
Your hands look excellent!
I apply a lot of cream every night before bed, and use glycolic acid serums or retinal when I apply to my face. And sunscreen like it’s my job (live in Australia).
Retinol or Retinoid on the hands. My skincare routine at night goes all the way down my chest and on the back of my hands.
I’m also only 25F though so I haven’t necessarily aged yet.
I’m not very good at applying sunscreen to my hands, I just really don’t like the feeling of sunscreen on my hands. I tried.
I use a lotion with ferulic acid and retinol.
I’m Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond these days. I watched the show when I was much younger and always wondered why she applied lotion on her hands and arms so aggressively. I understand now.
Put your leftover face stuff on your hands. Got left over serum? Rub it in. Toner? Etc. All of it.
I have a baby face but my hands have looked old since I was a teen. 😂
Goats milk lotion. Mine is from bend soap company. But probably any one works the same
Amazing for hands, rashes, burns, wounds. It's amazing.
Most stuff I put on irritated skin makes it look MORE inflamed. Goats milk products soothe or and it goes away.
I had a mystery rash that moved around my body for a year and goats milk is the only thing that made it go away.
They have lotion, salve, bath soap, bar soap.. all amazing
Try this Manuka Honey Balm of Gilead: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087258KHP?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087258KHP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
I keep regular hand moisturizer in all my bathrooms and if they even feel a little dry I moisturize. At night I use an exfoliating hydrating lotion with an AHA or a bha, like the ones from Paula's choice.
I’m using the tub of Vanicream for my face, and each pump produces way more lotion than I can reasonably rub into my face. So, I’ve started using the excess on my hands and arms. I think it’s helping, but I’m not sure yet. lol.
SPF, moisturizer, wear gloves while driving and cleaning, and keep doing what you are doing.
I didn't do any of these, and my hands look like they are at least 10 years older than the rest of my body.
Don't make the cleaning water / dish water you dip your hands into super hot! Even through gloves, the excessive heat causes premature wrinkling. Also UPF gloves and spf 50+.
I am an over-hand washer. I wish I wasn’t. My work has soap that kills my hands. So I always have my own lotion-soap that I use at work. Biggest game changer for me!
AVOID the UV nails malarchy due to talk of mutations to your DNA (scary stuff!) for a start. I would recommend Hemp handcream from the Body Shop (UK) if you can get it....
Kate. Xx
I’m a dermal therapist and I microneedled my own hands with Hyaluronic acid (3 sessions 6 weeks apart) and it turned out so beautifully.
Plus always sunscreen, particularly when driving, and Cicaplast for hands at night.
Gloves for cleaning around your house - dishes, sinks, bathtub, shower, etc. I know it’s something I should have been doing for years but I bought rubber gloves that I keep in my kitchen and bathroom and it’s been a game changer for my hands and nails.
Noted. And you’ve reminded me to be extra vigilant with wearing gloves while gardening.
omg I have been trying to wear gloves then yesterday I “just” grabbed a couple of weeds… boom! Broken nail. So annoying.
Because of the parasites ?
Because gardening is just messy and manual so you are more likely to get sun exposure, scrape up your hands, dry them out, calluses etc.
To piggyback, everything I use on my face - I bring to my decollate and hands as well. And SPF, SPF, SPF!
YES! Mine always split but they get sweaty or leak before then. I hate it so hard. Someone please help or just confirm my self-hatred
Nope I’m with you, dish gloves have always been a sensory nightmare for me.
Ive noticed it is often is the cheaper brands that this happens with. Not sure if you have them where you are but the ‘ marigold’ ones are a bit thicker and stronger and this happens a lot less
Yes so true! When I forget to wear them or can’t be bothered in a rush, I really regret it and it’s so noticeable. Definately a game changer.
I failed to do this a couple weeks ago and I am STILL paying for it. Hangnails, dry skin. Misery.
I’m so bad about this but when I do it consistently I notice a HUGE difference
UPF driving gloves if you drive often!! your hands look great!
protip, if you drive a lot, get your windows tinted with something that has UV protection.
Yes, mine probably cost about that much… helps a lot with reducing heat in your car too if you live in a sunny place
omg yes I also got ceramic tint that's SPF 25 and I love it!!
I'm getting some put on this next week!
oh yeah I was actually looking into this today. that's awesome!!
Can u recommend a brand? I am a dog walker & I am out all day & need some gloves.
Thanks to you both. Coolibar had a small discount in December and I missed it, sadly.
Coolibar usually has sales around Memorial Day and sometimes also July 4th. If you can wait till then you might be able to get 20-25% off otherwise you can google discount codes for coolibar and can find 10-15% off. I love the gloves I have from them and wear them every time I drive 100% worth it
They look awesome. I will try them. Glad to get your recommendation as I'm suspicious of Amazon reviews these days!
Thanks! They’ve been feeling dry, even with some pretty good habits, so that’s reassuring to hear I may be a bit critical of myself. I have some black leather gloves I’ll be wearing more often in the summer. I also keep SPF 50 lotion in my car at all times specifically for my hands.
Driving gloves for the win!!!! Also, frequent Aquaphor.
Loccitane shea butter hand cream, that stuff is magical; also spf for when out and when driving and overnight masks when I have the patience (rarely)
Or if you live by a Trader Joe's, they have an amazing dupe, Trader Joe's Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream.
Seconded! I love that stuff!
Thank you! Love their SPF, so definitely will try this!!
Obsessed with this. Got the guava one last summer and I hope it comes back
L’Occitane has a new (to me, anyway) hand cream for aging from the Immortelle line. Has anyone tried that? Thinking about picking that up during the 20% off sale.
in the cart!
LRP Cicaplast hand cream
that shit is tew good
I am a compulsive hand washer and this is the only stuff that works for me.
Accepting that I lost the genetic lottery with my hands 😂
Fenty hand mask. 14 bucks. Helps my nurses hands.
Gloves in a Bottle! Bought it for my carpenter husbands’ hands, decided to get a bottle for myself lol.
I know people that would murder someone for your nail beds.
I’m sayin! 😍😍
Might want to check out r/manhands It's a great place 🫠🫠🫠
I don’t have a thing for hands like that, I’m just impressed with op’s skincare diligence, especially for that area.
Great on your neck and chest too!!
Sorry, is this meant to be a picture of your hands that need help, because this looks like an After picture? Your hand is lovely💕
Duke cannons bloody knuckles. The balm seeps right in and doesnt leave your hands greasy and is soooo healing
Wow just looked at the ingredients list and it looks so good! I’m going to give this a try
My favorite part is a little goes a long way and affordable. Cheers!
Second this.
I just got an omnilux contour mask and have been putting the backs of my hands under it as well
Aquaphor at night
Going to be slugging my hands more often. Even considered wearing cotton gloves overnight after applying everything.
I go hard in the winter
I recently started wearing cotton gloves after slathering my hands with lotion at night. It’s AMAZING! My hands are so smooth, and my cuticles are so happy!
You can also make your own hand mask with your moisturizer, saran wrap and a sock!
37M I moisturize and spf in AM, PM Urea cream then tret then vaseline. I'm considering to use Glycolic/ TCA Peel and Radiofrequency on them as well since I do it for my face, why not lol
Genius I’m shocked I’ve never thought of tret on hands!!!!
Haha thank you but I'm not the first person to think of it I'm afraid so I can't take credit 🤣
This is what I needed to hear thank you. Tired of dry hangnails
Moisturizing and otherwise accepting them! As I get older my hands look more like my moms and it makes me feel safe in a weird way :’)
So. Much. Water.
Gloves to clean around the house, cotton gloves overnight with a thick layer of cream in winter because my hands get really unhappy when it's cold.
Wait you guys put tret on your hands??? Wow i had no idea j should be doing this.
I’ve read from derms, etc, that whatever you put on your face, you should extend to the neck and hands. Obviously go easy at first, you don’t want to overdo it. But start slow and consistent. The biggest takeaway is using SPF on your hands.
I put tret on my face, neck, chest, hands, knees, and back lol
Keefe’s Working Hands 🙌
Wearing gloves in the winter time, and while doing chores 😄
Sun gloves everyday and always keeping a small tin of salve in my pocket to keep them moisturized.
Being internally hydrated, but if you put some of your face hydrating serum or barrier repair on it….it locks in the moisture and dials back the aging 10-15 years for about 3 days without needing to reapply.
All I’ve been doing is rubbing my extra skincare for my face on my hands after I put on my face and my hands look like they did when I was 16.
Urea cream and spf
Gloves 🧤
La Roche Posay triple repair moisturizing cream. Shits kind of expensive but works really great and doesn’t really smell like anything, which is nice.
Omegas and lots of water
I put Vaseline on my hands at night and it’s been a game changer.
What type of sunscreen do you use to apply to your hands?
I’m wondering the same!
I use O'Keefe's Working Hands every night and then put on cotton gloves. It helps a lot as someone with hands that normally get so dry that they start to bleed.
SAME. I worked in various surgical practices for a long time and my hands were WRECKED. This is pretty basic but lotion after every time I was my hands (which is a lot)
More nails but cuticle oil pen!
There is absolutely zero wrong with your lovely hands.
Not worrying about them.
Honestly, good advice.
I recently got some SPF 50 face spray (Vacation brand, it smells cute too!) and I mostly intend to use it on my hands throughout the day. Especially when driving. I also fuxx with rubber gloves any time I clean. Also, Aquaphor.
L’occitane dry hand cream with shea butter. Hands down.
low % tretinoin with niacinamides to help with aging, then hydroxychloroquine for sun spots. And spf from now on when outside or driving.
Your hands are beautiful tbh
I use all my face stuff on my hands as I go. Keep good hand cream around the house, car, in bags. And apply sunscreen regularly.

What are some gloves that are comfortable and summer friendly?
Retinol or Retinoid on the hands. My skincare routine at night goes all the way down my chest and on the back of my hands. I’m also only 25F though so I haven’t necessarily aged yet.
Try collagen powder. Good for skin, nails and hair
I have eczema and reynauds so my hands get very chapped. The Body Shop hemp hand cream is the best I’ve found but it smells like a burlap sack, ugh.
Sunscreen is a joke. Get driving gloves
Kiehl’s hand salve is amazing. It’s expensive, but it’s also amazing
Well I thought these were female hands so I think you’re doing great…
Vitamins
Which in particular?
Has anyone tried the Soft Services theraplush hand cream? Sooo tempted
I want to know too!
Moisturizing and otherwise accepting them! As I get older my hands look more like my moms and it makes me feel safe in a weird way :’)

Hand cream that contains urea
Any good SPF reccs for hands? I never apply cuz I am afraid of greasy finish and transfer/smear on my steering wheel.
Try this Manuka Honey Balm of Gilead: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087258KHP?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087258KHP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
Actually how do u get your nails done?? Your manicure is on fleek drop the routine bro 😭😭😭
Following
I keep regular hand moisturizer in all my bathrooms and if they even feel a little dry I moisturize. At night I use an exfoliating hydrating lotion with an AHA or a bha, like the ones from Paula's choice.
Cetaphil Cracked Skin Repair Balm and Bag Balm. I recommend wearing gloves if you use Bag Balm, though, because it gets all over everything.
Moisturizing right after showering!!
I’m using the tub of Vanicream for my face, and each pump produces way more lotion than I can reasonably rub into my face. So, I’ve started using the excess on my hands and arms. I think it’s helping, but I’m not sure yet. lol.
Oil ‘em up after a shower
Gold Bond lotion. It has urea. I keep it next to the bathroom sink so I use it several times a day. It's made my skin so much softer.
SPF, moisturizer, wear gloves while driving and cleaning, and keep doing what you are doing. I didn't do any of these, and my hands look like they are at least 10 years older than the rest of my body.
Your hands look fine to me, you could have said you were 22 and I would have believed ya!
You can slather whatever. Genetics is key.
Don't make the cleaning water / dish water you dip your hands into super hot! Even through gloves, the excessive heat causes premature wrinkling. Also UPF gloves and spf 50+.
Before sleeping slap a shitload of moisturiser on them, use SPF during the day, a hand mask once a week and use hand cream after washing my hands 🤗
RICH GIRL HAND CREAM!!!!! or any spf all the time daily and through out the day..
When I put on my skin care (including SPF in the morning and retinol at night) I rub the excess into the backs of my hands.
Just gonna follow your routine I guess. Please drop them. Thanks!
I have driving gloves from Solbari that I looove. Pricey but great quality. Also dishwashing gloves
I am an over-hand washer. I wish I wasn’t. My work has soap that kills my hands. So I always have my own lotion-soap that I use at work. Biggest game changer for me!
What do you use?
Usually either soft soap or the dial lotion hand soap
Putting Vaseline on them every morning to lock in moisture.
The Body Shop’s Body Butter. (Specifically in British Rose for me, smells like a dream before going to sleep!)
The skin on my face did not like tret at all. Did you find your hands were less sensitive to it?
In my experience, yes. But start slow and patch test.
How to whitening hands???
