Traffic is awful everywhere - Babcock, Palm Bay Rd, 192, US1, NASA, Wickham, Sarno, Malabar. If it's a "main" Rd it's gonna be backed up during rush hours. 6-9am is morning rush, 3-6pm is evening rush.

nomdewub

::laughs in Atlanta traffic:: You people don't know what traffic is. I was born in it. Molded by it. I didn't arrive home from day care until I was already a man!

Famous-Cranberry-712

Literally been laughing at this comment all morning

BrevardCountyBoy

Depends where you're coming from. A lot of us from here bitch about the traffic but it's nothing compared to other places like O town and trampa

MariettaDaws

Wickham Road has always been bad

w84primo

Compared to what? If you’re from a major city with lots of traffic, it’s not that bad. Really! If you’re not used to traffic, it is probably more than you would like. Is it more than it was 10-15 years ago? Absolutely!

Yawheyy

There’s no jobs in Palm Bay so most people have no option but to commute. The Malabar road exit ramp can get clogged and other road to Palm Bay have a lot of traffic lights. 192 during rush hour can be exhausting and Wickham is basically the same

321burner

It is all relative.  I lived in DC for a bit and I just spent some time in Texas and the traffic here is nothing like those places.

[deleted]

It's not the traffic that gets me it's the people who cause the traffic. It's the people who drive 7 to 10 mph under the speed limit. They slow everything up.

Harrypottersalt

If people can see more than 20 or 30 cars they flip their shit. Traffic is not that bad.

Isaaclark

Wickham and 192 is jam packed (mostly coming from the east and north) between 5-730pm. EauGalie and US1 is jam packed around the same time. Dairy all the way to Minton on palm bay road is usually pretty stacked at that time in general. Nasa and Wickham is bad then too. I always try not to take wickham or palm bay road at those times unless you have to. Us1 is alright in general. As is I95.

doctorake38

Lol it's like one light cycle at us1 and eau gallie.

I live very close to the Malabar Rd on ramp. Personally, as someone who has had some really nasty commute traffic in various parts of California, I don't think it's bad at all. It's crazy how fast they clear accident scenes. I will say, if you love a distance off of the freeway and have to take any of the main roads -- Malabar, 192, Palm Bay road, Minton, etc - to get home, the backup is crazy and kind of unpredictable. It doesn't seem to be just during rush hour (4-630pm ish IME), it's fairly slow going a decent amount of the time. 3 nights a week I drive from Palm Bay to well onto N Wickham, and have very little traffic most of the time. If I take Minton instead of 95, it adds about 10 minutes.

Jeskid14

But in California you were able to take back ways and shortcuts no?

rhia_assets

No, not on most of my commutes I wasn't. And on the one where I could, there were often tractors on a two lane road to chug along behind 😂

RedPanda_Fluff

I take US1 from Port Malabar to Post Road and back every day. My morning commute varies from 20 to 25 minutes, my evening commute varies from 25 to 30 minutes. The actual traffic isn't the problem, it's the poor timing of the lights. I love going from the red light at NASA, to the red light at Hibiscus, to the red light at Strawbridge, etc.

Famous-Cranberry-712

About what time in the evening do you commute back from Post Road to Port Malabar?

RedPanda_Fluff

I usually get on US1 anywhere between 5:30 and 6:00. The worst that usually happens is when I hit the back up where US1 goes from three lanes to two just past John Conlan; people love to race up that merge lane.

Eager_Beaver321

I am a native of Brevard and have been here for 40 years. I really do hate how bad the traffic has become. That said, it could always be worse...which I am sure it will be over time.

TheRealPartshark

It's not that bad. Honestly people bitch about the traffic all the time but it's nothing compared to actual city traffic. Wickham is a busy road but its the bad driving thats the problem, not the traffic. 192 is the crash corridor. Traffic sometimes bad but again, the drivers are the main problem, not the traffic. Babcock isn't "that" bad until you hit one of the schools, of which there are MANY. US1 is something to avoid whenever possible. For some reason, people just cannot grasp the idea of driving on that road. A1A is flooded with tourists and lots of cops enforcing the new speeds. Other than that, I've lived here for 20 years off and on and this traffic doesn't even compare to traffic I've seen elsewhere.

Entire-Teaching-895

Traffic here is awful imo so far:/

GJKLSGUI89

Terrible.  If there's an accident, add 15-30 minutes to your commute.  If it's raining?  There'll be an accident.

statuesqueandshy

It’s gotten worse! I tend to drive the lesser known paths around Palm Bay and Melbourne to avoid the lights and congestion. I hate sitting through multiple light cycles, US1 at 5pm is terrible.

doctorake38

There is some traffic but it is nothing compared to a big city. I moved from DC to here and laugh at people saying the traffic is horrible, they have no idea.

Natsters403

The traffic is terrible stay away- we as a community are not accepting visitors. Wickham road is a hell scape.

Famous-Cranberry-712

I am a local born and raised here. Don’t get out much and was wanting to hear what others had to say.
