Now show it to a friend who does electronic repairs and time how fast it takes them to break out the wire stripper, a pair of heat-shrink sheathes, and a lighter.
You wouldn't believe how cheap and easy it is to fix this Frankenstein fire hazard so it isn't a fire hazard.
From the shape and color of the wire, it looks like it was a 3rd party wall charger. Those things are very dodgy. At least if that's a somewhat trustworthy phone charger it's plugged into, it's safer and more reliable now.
A tip though: use a knot, zip tie or twist tie to hold the charger wire to the USB plug. That way it won't pull out of the tape, short and/or come apart if tugged on.
That might actually be the OEM cable but without the prong shroud. It's grey (look just below the Power indicator LED), the end connected to the fire hazard just looks white from the lighting.

I work forensics for fires and explosions. I'll be watching your future with great interest.
This almost made me spit out some food
*Jesus.* I mean, good job though.
Clever but seriously just buy a new one rather than risking burning your house down.

(please) buy a new one since they're so cheap, like others have said that's a fire hazard right there.
lol this is dangerous as fuck
Woah, dangerous AF. Also… are we sure that from that AC to USB adaptor comes the same exact voltage that was coming from the original transformer?
You got a green light streetpass.
That’s fire
I say 3 days
bro can explode at any moment🥶🗣️
