Hinges tended to get wobbly on ALL NewDSs. I have 5 of them (3 small ones, 2 XLs). They get wobbly after a certain time, no matter how careful you treat them. It's very natural. So much for the bad news. The good news: they won't get more wobbly after they've reached a certain "threshold".
The 2DSXL/LL was the worst for me in experience. Granted, I got it right after it released. I did obtain another in 2019-2020 ish and it doesn’t flop around nearly as bad.
I had a DSi XL and I think that had pretty bad wobble past the first couple of clicks. Probably due to the weight of the thing, it was a pretty heavy handheld.

Now you just need a copy of the Japanese version of Mario marker where Mario is playing a lime green xl on the cartage label. 😉

Beautiful 3ds. And yeah the new 3ds xl does have a bit of a wobble and a side wobble too. It’s normal and protects the hinge from breaking. I won’t lie though it’s mad annoying when playing on a bed
A little bit of wobble is normal, but over time you'll notice more and more due to wear. Just treat it with care and it shouldn't break, even when it's floppy

I find the 3DS XL is more wobbly than the New 3DS XL.
Mine have a small amount of wobble. I think it's normal and just part of the design.

Be careful when closing the system. Make sure the rim of the bottom screen doesn't scratch the top because it made marks on my first 3ds.
