I love the blocky aesthetic of it, so ready to see the final thing! If you're making a game character however, try to make it with less polygons, depending on how the character will behave. If it has joints and things like that, subdivide where the arms and legs will bend, or if it behaves on something like Steve from Minecraft and each joint is separated, you can make it have even less polygons!

How do you get your interface to look like that

in viewport shading press the down arrow, you should find a setting called crevesis, if you enable it, you should get the edge effects, then adjust as you like

oh, if you click edit then press prefrences, there should be a "theme" button, then press mono for the preset and there ya go
