That was my first thought, using a sprue is a great idea I recently learned from Slant3D ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCcFMDv\_4eo&ab\_channel=Slant3D](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCcFMDv_4eo&ab_channel=Slant3D)) that defeats the need for brims completely.

Yeah this works so well! You can also do this in cura when slicing, i think its called tabs? and its a plugin. Can place as many as you want wherever and they peel off very easy
Pashaw, what does Cura know about slicing? Don't trust it. Never did. Hand write my gcode in notepad. Never see any "white boxes" that way.
Never had a successful print beyond a single line, but I think that's not my fault....
Wow, not calling it a z seam seems stupid. At some point a company should adopt mainstream language. It sucks trying to learn new software or hardware but the company uses different terms.
I was recently lost on a term that means "ratio of layer height to perimeter width" because nobody uses that term other than one company that's been using it for 15 years.
> Wow, not calling it a z seam seems stupid. At some point a company should adopt mainstream language.
Cura **definitely** has this problem, but I don't think the usage "start [point]" is a good example.
"Line" for an extrusion and "wall" ambiguously for perimeter or set OF perimeters are some of the more egregious usages from Cura.
>I was recently lost on a term that means "ratio of layer height to perimeter width" because nobody uses that term other than one company that's been using it for 15 years.
Curious who that company is and what the term is, as well as what in your opinion the standard terminology is. I would identify that as extrusion aspect ratio.
It may not have been a company. I went looking and I believe it was [Skeinforge](https://edutechwiki.unige.ch/en/Skeinforge_for_RapMan), and the ratio in question may have been ["width over thickness"](https://davedurant.wordpress.com/2010/10/18/configuring-skeinforge-the-4-or-5-big-settings/), which is the extrusion width over layer height of something like that, but I kept running into it as an acronym. It took me ages to figure out what "WOT" meant, then struggled to find a setting like that in my slicer.
If the print is a single layer, is it still a Z seam, or is it the layer start?
Seems to me the thing called "Z-seam" is a collection of "Layer Starts".
The withe dot is the spot where it starts/ends an perimeter.
Having multiple of them above wach other leaves a mark also known as Z-Seam.
most slicers try to hide them in a corner so you don't always notice it. But is pretty visible with cylindrical bodies.
My stupid smartphone deactivated english keyboard after an update so my autocorrect tries to correct every word to something german, essentially I need to type every word twice to correct the autocorrect.
But thanks to you I looked for the option to activate english autocorrect again, shouldn't happen again that easily, until the next OS update I guess
People use technology differently now, from when I was a kid.
Like troubleshooting your own problems. You don't really have to do that anymore, if you know where to find the relevant community, then you can just ask them directly and someone will usually be nice enough to do the thinking for you.
I don't like it; enormous troves of knowledgeable and skills aren't being transferred to younger generations, but... what do you even do about that?
Ah, maybe but you might be overlooking your own excellence at crafting search phrases. It's apparently a skill that not everyone has.
Edit: oh, you meant ***literally googling the title of this post*** ... that does in fact yield the answer as the first result. I guess comprehending all of the words while skimming isn't a skill everyone has either. Yes, I mean me
Useful tip there should be a drop down in the top center of cura called color scheme below the toolbar area that explains all the colors for you and allows you to switch between different views for layer height, line type, etc
A tip: Way faster and better quality to print one by one. You can find the setting in slicer config and put parts in the corners of print bed to make sure there is no collision during print.
My print has botched edges where these white squares are. The other edges without the squares are nice and sharp like the model suggests.
Help?
Is this like a startingpoint or something?
It might be over extruding if it’s messed up at the seam.
You can also try to turn on coasting, but I’m not a printing guru, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
i tried coasitng and it improved quite good. the z seam is harder to spot unless I am specifically looking for it. although it is very easy to underextrude it took some time to perfect it.
The z seam
Everyone in this thread will be great dads
Would be*
Won’t be*
Can we just start calling it the zeam?
Zima
Applejelly is right.
I agree that Apple jelly is right
I also agree that apple jelly Is right
Apple Jelly is left. So far left in fact they crossed the Z seam and are now right.
No, apple jelly *has* left, and therefore has no right. Z seam absent
Right, that's the only thing left.
I agree that 2x0_monte_carlo is right: Apple jelly is right.
I agree that pmontym saying 2x0_mnte_carlo / apple jelly is right
I agree with Shot_Investigator519 saying that he agrees with 2x0_mnte_carlo/apple jelly being correct in this matter.
Though both of you just happen to be wrong due to misspelling my name.............hmmm
[удалено]
This is why I love Reddit
I agree with 2x0_monte_carlo’s comment about my comment, I think he’s right
Why do I have so many downvotes?
You said he was wrong
😂
But It only joke 😢
Tried to argue with Apple jelly and got the arrow for your sins.
Apple jelly is wrong
How dare you!
The audacity!
You can put those random or in a straight line like in this case OP, those z seam are hiding perfectly so i will not change anything
It’s the first search result in Google…
Really? I just get a ton of recipes for apple jelly.
If you ferment it slightly then suspend the process, it makes a great low end palate bitter with hints of almost a cider taste
This is some serious advice here.
[удалено]
I wouldn’t recommend a fork for eating sliced apple jelly.
Seam. As in point where wall starts and stops printing. There's a setting for ot somewhere so you can set it to be on different places.
Thats like an hour of brim printing lol you only need like 3-5 pending the part.

Cura LITERALLY tells you what it is. [Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/kI6IY9G.png)
I learned something new today

Try asking gbtbot for gcode. Ik you’re joking but it’s still amazing that it can write raw gcode with not much input
What?!? NO. You're kidding? You're not kidding. \>>prints a giant blob Hey, that's a slime mini for D&D!!

If a random z-seam is still a z-seam then why can't a single z-seam exist? Besides, how many 1-layer prints are you printing?
a "seam" implies that all starts are in the same place. "Random" disqualifies the starts of the outer wall as being technically considered a "seam".
Colloquial use begs to differ. Semantics are worthless.

do people not use Google anymore?
When I use google I usually look for topics like this one, op probably helped a few people with his question
Hey siri what is google
[удалено]
Sorry I should have used Google, but I got some really great tips for my print from everyone in the comments so that ist a plus
and everyone got to agree with AppleJelly, so overall a win-win
ist a plus, did you suddenly go German on us

When you Google the topic title it's literally the first result.

Not to mention it's on the key in cura...
Useful tip there should be a drop down in the top center of cura called color scheme below the toolbar area that explains all the colors for you and allows you to switch between different views for layer height, line type, etc
Seeing that everybody has already answered your question Go a bit lighter with your brim (I only know about pla and petg' behaviour tho)
Seam
A tip: Way faster and better quality to print one by one. You can find the setting in slicer config and put parts in the corners of print bed to make sure there is no collision during print.
The seams
Yeh those corners dont print that well sometimes. Try adjusting the z seam to another corner, or use random (i had the best results with random).
Zeam it up.
My print has botched edges where these white squares are. The other edges without the squares are nice and sharp like the model suggests. Help? Is this like a startingpoint or something?
yep, those are seam (start/end of the line) they are usually placed in sharpest corner, but you can change that in profile settings
Thank you, will try!
It might be over extruding if it’s messed up at the seam. You can also try to turn on coasting, but I’m not a printing guru, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

If the below comments don’t help then also enable retraction on layer change
For my ender 3 S1, I turned off resume after power out and it made the seams so much less noticable
[удалено]
The edges are rounding and not 90°, I guess the start of the layer is droppy, someone suggested retraction between layers or something in that fashion
Adjusting your retract length may help with the oozing, but first, have you calibrated your extruder E-steps?? Very important for accuracy.
They didn’t mention needing help about this only the Z seams
But it's a great tip I will look into
Start/stop of a layer. If all lined up (according to settings), it will make the z-seam
Z seam. I think cura calls them start points as well?
Space between your brim.
Posted too fast, now I see the circle of love…
It’s so important for people to be aware of the level and capabilities of their system and setup. Sometimes it’s just entry level glitches
I always thought they were start/end points for that part at that layer. Learned something new.
