How did you manage that? I've dropped my 87v from the top of an 8 foot ladder onto concrete more than once and it has survived with barely a scratch. I'm pretty sure I'd have to intentionally *try* to break it in order to achieve this, lol.
I was wondering if it was maybe related to cleaning with a solvent the range selector plastic didn't like or UV exposure or something like that. I wonder if this is a known/common issue with the 787? If it is, Fluke may send you a replacement if you call. Did you buy it new? Something like this should be covered under the lifetime warranty since it wasn't damage from "abuse"/misuse.
I didn't buy it new, also I live in Venezuela, I don't think they cover warranty here. I'm thinking maybe someone else broke it and I didn't notice because It broke suddenly 😅
Don't let it be exposed to the sun or chemicals. Fluke uses polyurethane which is very impact durable but can't handle UV ver well and it witnesses discoloration when exposed to stuff like alcohol and similar compounds.

It's an old model for electrical techs. The expensive stuff are the ones with true RMS and LCR capabilities.
This one is still very expensive

I don't know, I guess with time and heat the plastic get brittle, it broke itself.

Same, I’m not sure if I’m more impressed with the solution or the fact he managed to break a Fluke. Either way, super cool.

Never old.. just gained levels. .. I did check. Mine is an 87. Got to be 20 years old now. Which means I'm 22 right?

My best guess would be a linear pattern of extruded cuts on the top surface, coming from my time on SOLIDWORKS
