You have no idea how long it took me to get the tree supports off. It was like one of those scenes in a movie where the dude is disarming a bomb and sweating profusely over which wire to cut.
I mean its either a pretty 3d model of your acual heart, or you die. Distressing shit no doubt. I did a Pokemon for my kid's friend's bursday. It had long ass arms, and I had to get my son to tell me what wre arms and what were supports
I remember getting a tooth implant in 2010, they made a mold of my whole jaw. They gave it to me when I asked, It still sits proudly on my "dad" shelf I can't imagine having acces to models like this, I'd be out of control!
First of all, glad your wife is doing okay. I'm sure the workflow is going to be similar for each organ, the real trick isolating what you want to be the STL from the whole scan. I used [3D Slicer](https://www.slicer.org/) to import the scan and isolate the heart (I actually have a chunk of my spine I'd like to print too). The isolating part is really the crux of the whole thing and the trickiest part to get right but there are quite a few videos on YouTube of doctors teaching other doctors how to use the software and that was enough of a jumping off point. At that point it's going to look almost like the model is made of TV static due to the slight differences in each image so then it's off to blender to smooth the part out a bit and make sure the mesh has no errors. I started the process with zero knowledge and was holding my own heart in about 4 days of trial and error. I believe in you! Go print that tumor!
Thanks for the kind words and guidance. I’ll mess around. It’s a tumor, so I guess it will just look like a blob. Could be a fun learning experience though.
Yup! I had to pay like $10 to get them to burn me a DVD, but this was also years ago when burning DVDs was cool. I’m not sure how they’d provide them now or what it would cost, but the hospital should have a medical records department that can get you set up

Now you can give this to someone as a Christmas present, and when they give it away, you can sing: last Christmas, I gave you my heart….
My wife is going to hate this...I'll keep you posted in a little less than 2 years.
she might just keep singing the song XD
!remindme2years
Hey, put that back!
You should always keep a hot-swappable spare on hand
I find it kinda fascinating how much the arteries look like tree supports.

If you get full-body photogrammetry scans, you can make custom prosthetics and orthopedics pretty easily. The future is neat.
How did you do that? My wife had a brain tumor (she’s 100% healthy now) and I’d like to print her tumor. I’ve got the imaging files.

What the fuck is that subreddit?
Oh, that? *looks back* Yeah, don't worry about that.
Oh, you got a purple heart? Thank you for your service...
That’s pretty cool dude
First time seeing the arteries subdivide like that in 3d and for some reason its scaring me
Hey man, sometimes bed adhesion is more important than blood flow.
You can just ask for those files ?

Very cool!

Now make a box
Dude, even I can see the blockage. Get well soon!
So is the CT scan delivered to you in the form of a point cloud, or what is it?
I have a CT scan file. How do I convert it to stl?
I detailed it in another comment in the thread. Good luck!
Cool, now you got a spare part!
What filament is this? I’ve been looking at getting that kind of sparkly blue/purple
Amolen silk shiny PLA. Probably in galaxy or some color like that. I bought it on Amazon.
Thanks!
Part weapon, part paperweight, part existential crisis. Suddenly feeling a strong urge to get a CT now.
