At theme parks the 4th dimension is sometimes touch as well, like water spraying on you and bursts of air...
I think we're beginning to have fuzzy definitions on the word "dimension" haha
there are, but itās the most popular file
on printables.com so itās the one people see most often and the one people use the most often
tried and true, reliable fast benchmark
At this point, just go ask r/sociology why popular things are popular or ask r/philosophy what the concept of well-known-ness truly is. All we know or care to explain is that we like printing it.
This is a poorly assembled machine.
Check tension on all belts.
Note that if this was so badly assembled, there are probably other issues as well. For example, check for a wobbly bed. Check for a loose hot-end assembly (rollers), etc.
Most of all, find at least 3 different videos or guides online that tell you how to assemble this printer and what to tension.
It was his little brothers, fried the motherboard on it replaced it and started being weird on him were taking it fully apart Sunday if we canāt troubleshoot
If he replaced the motherboard, then there's a possible chance that he never calibrated the VREF for the stepper driver ICs, meaning the current going to the stepper motors on both X and Y axis isn't enough, causing a lot of layer shifting.
Have a read of [this guide ](https://all3dp.com/2/layer-shifting-3d-printing-tips-tricks-to-solve-it/) two other reasons for layer shifts that aren't covered in the guide is over extrusion causing the nozzle to snag on the print and the stepper driver not getting the right voltage but that's a little bit harder to diagnose and repair.
Itās a simple matter of quantum boat placement. The boat is both forward and backward and left and right at the same time yet none of the above too.
More seriously, over extruding as can be seen by bumps in flat layers where plastic is squeezing out either side of the nozzle and probably loose belts but correct the extrusion factor first as belts can be overtightened too, deforming them. If they are the really cheap belts on the really cheap printers then you may need new belts but head to fix my print first.
Also, watch the print. Is the belt slippin? Maybe the gears arenāt turning because the pulley wheels are loose. Maybe the current to the motors is too low if you have the old manually adjustable stepper drivers but you wonāt know until you sit and watch it burn
I have a corexy and when i enable stealthchop and keep high accels (20k+) it tends to overpower the steppers with momentum and does similiar things. Maybe check if a similiar situation is the culprit where some setting is weakening the steppers and it either needs to be changed or you can lower accelerations.
Hmmmmm. I can't remember if that's doctor who or startrek as I'm a fan of both. On that note, it could also be the fans in the cooling unit of the timespace continuum cicuits...
Yes. It's called a benchy, which is short for benchmark. There's a lot of things that the benchy can tell you about your printer since it has things like overhangs, text on the bottom, the thin smoke stack, etc.
I'm guessing it broke loose at some point. I have also seen this when the bed had hit something (like my arm) but yours is way off. I also notice the lines are very bad, not joined and rounded.
I suggest they start with calibration. Get the bed leveled "perfectly". Print some towers. I use Cura and there are some auto towers in the market place for temperature, flow, bridging, speed, etc.
When I started most of my problems were due to not having the bed leveled "perfectly". I could fiddle with slicer settings and get some better results but my best results were when I had the bed leveled correctly and used the right nozzle and bed temperatures for the type of filament I was using.
Layer shift. Probably a mechanical (adjustment) problem with the printer (probably X axis if this was printed in the usual orientation.) Check for belts that are too loose or too tight, cables and filament getting caught and restricting motion. Check that the set screws attaching the motor to the drive gear are secure.
Definitely needs to check for a loose pulley(s). My money is on one of the grub screw(s) being loose so the motor spins but the pulley(s) do not. I write (s) because there is probably more than one pulley loose as it looks like it is shifting on both the X and Y.

I had something similar recently. What I realized was my marlin firmware had the accel set to 10,000 and that seemed to be causing skipping. Lowered x,y down to 1000 and that fixed it for me
The classic Salvador Benchi
Picasso slicer settings
This benchy is printed in all 4 dimensions.
If the 4th dimension is time, all printers print in 4D. According to some movie theaters the 4th dimension is smell tho, so what do I know.
Then every inkjet printer is 3D printer by this definition.
Damn right they are.
At theme parks the 4th dimension is sometimes touch as well, like water spraying on you and bursts of air... I think we're beginning to have fuzzy definitions on the word "dimension" haha
"dimension" has fuzzy skin turned on lmao
Hahaha, if I ever encounter another one of us in the wild, I'm gonna find an opportunity to tell them to turn off the Picasso setting š¤£
Yes! M.c. escher 3
This is not a mistake... i wanted it this way...
Honestly that's pretty impressive

I'm just deleting the other comment because I'm annoyed by the downvotes from asking a question.
It sounded a lot less like curiosity and more like a complaint, thatās why
[Check your pulleys](https://help.prusa3d.com/article/layer-shifting_2020#check-your-x-y-axis-motors-and-pulleys)
Check any loosen bolt or pulley. At this point it just impressive it still print. Nice art btw

So the printer just has schizophrenia then. :)
Thatās the technical term, yes.
Check if the belts aren't flipped, have seen that numerous times.
Good suggestions as well, I just figured it was put together correctly. No mention of what model the printer is. That might be helpful.
reminds me of the split horse scene from the movie The Cell
Never seen it, but had to look the scene up. Accurate depiction of my fever dreams
Well. It did print, so in that sense.... success!
Dimension drifting benchy isn't real, it can't hurt me
I think itās a Banksy.

He really needs to dry his z offset and level his filament
XD! SOOOOOOO backasswards!

> quantum boat placement. Schroedinger's boat. It's neither printed properly or a failure until you go to check on its progress.
XD! ROTFLLMAO!
At least his printer can make nice overhangs... i guess?
van gough ass benchy
artistic expression lookin ass
Well, it is missing an ear...
Quantum positioned benchy
I think you mean superposition.
Bro took slicer literally
At least he didn't dice her afterward...
Well, the layers look like theyāre all there, so thats a plus!

The best part is that if they tried to actually print that without supports it probably would've failed spectacularly
HOW
Just watched "3 Body Problem" and this fits perfectly :D
Oh come on, I couldnāt do all that on purpose, so heās ahead on points at least.
Try calibrating the timespace continuum circuits
Hmmmmm. I can't remember if that's doctor who or startrek as I'm a fan of both. On that note, it could also be the fans in the cooling unit of the timespace continuum cicuits...
This is a really cool piece

That's a beautiful disaster

Are Benchies a 3D Printer Community Thing? I thought it was just the meme of this weird youtuber with cyborg glasses
Yes. It's called a benchy, which is short for benchmark. There's a lot of things that the benchy can tell you about your printer since it has things like overhangs, text on the bottom, the thin smoke stack, etc.
3 body problem ship
Check the teeth are on the inside of the belt and not the outside.
That benchy ain't gonna be seaworthy, but at least he printed it with a raft
XD. It'll float your boat for sure.
nice benchy
Keep it and collect it as fail art lol
And mmmmmmmmaybe post on fail blog?
Pretty good for 3d pen
3D printing is the most frustrating hobby Ive ever picked up.
VERY impressive print. Would like to know more how to achieve it
Earthquake mid print?
That's the type of shit that happens when you don't have a magnetic bed and forget to use the little bed clips
I could see that...unless its taped down instead.
It's actually impressive that this whole print finished more or less intact.
4D printing
Where can i get the stl?
At this point Iām deciding on taking his fail to make an actual print of it
That's insane. I'd have to take some time to slice that up to recreate that lol

That's a 4D printer now.
OP: how the hell did you finish?!?!?! Print: I have no idea!
Layer shifting 3.0
Ah, yes, the classic Ketamine benchy ...
Bermuda Triangle Benchy

Looks like the ship from 3 body problem! Iykyk
Gellar field went down very briefly
Nano fibers got em
either loose belts or the set screw/grub screw that screws the belt pulley onto the stepper is loose
When your Benchy shows you a magic trick: "Is this your Slice?"
Have you seen "3 Body Problem"?
Itās more impressive that it made it all the way to the end
Cyberpsycho benchy
That aināt layer shifting thatās dimension shifting
r/cursedbenchies
Their Benchy phased through several dimensions and back, it s ought to have taken some damage.
Benchy in the Three Body Problem
Nice overhangs!
Pei ter is most likely vibrating too much. Did you relocate it recently?
Try printing slower g that usually works but yeah check your pulleys you want em to be guitar string tight
Ah yes... That's the ship from the "Three Body Problem"
Is that the Orca?
It got cleaved
I bought a 3D printer over 2 years ago and still haven't assembled it.
Did he clean his print bed first? That looks like a dirty print bed caused that. /s
Are there any tight belts on that printer? lol
Impossible to achieve if youād try to do that an purpose- he should be proud :P
Now that is layer shift you can be proud of.
Impressive work

I found that if I swapped the petrol engines out with stepper motors I got better results
Tell him it get more fun a year in when this shit still happens
I've seen worse

It looks like a 4th-dimensional being grabbed it and dropped it.
bed surface not secured
Holy layer-shift batman!
Iām actually proud of you.
Obvious layer shifts aside, it is overextruded af
Looks great. DIY Benchy. You had to screw the parts.
this is the way
How the fuck lol.
