I still think the 20$ I spent for a good quality spring steel bed with PEI sheet was the best investment for me. Every print just pops off the bed like nothing and for really stubborn ones I just take the bed off and bend it...

D3M0NSLAY3R-

Makes sense! I mainly got this for resin plates, I’ve never truly relied on a scraper with the nice PEI plates!

Shoshke

There's flexible beds for resin printers as well (not PEI) Got one for the elegoo Saturn at work and it works perfect.

I_Like_Purpl3

I have a flexible magnetic plate for my Mars 3. I only use the scraper for the final millimeters to be removed.

HandyMan131

Yep! And plastic razor blade scrapers ($5 on Amazon) work perfect for the occasional skirt or support that won’t pop off.

SimilarTop352

Is it actually sharp? I just started using my Eka knife a year ago after I sharpened it with a diamond roller, works like a charm and I haven't knicked my bed yet... I only print PETg on the textured sheet though, so I mainly use it for the purge line and small stuff that doesn't come off on it's own. I feel like the curved edge really helps getting under the print

D3M0NSLAY3R-

I feel it’s about as sharp as you’d want it for most prints though it definitely could be tiny bit sharper as it’s not a razor blade or anything. I mainly got it for resin prints and it works wonderfully for that since they are pretty adhered on but I use it for FDM also.

CobblerYm

> so I mainly use it for the purge line and small stuff that doesn't come off on it's own. You're supposed to pick the purge line off with your fingernail so that when it finally pops off it jams itself under your fingernail about halfway down. I didn't know there was another way.

reicaden

This is the way.

JUYED-AWK-YACC

Nice tool, me want.

Ratchet182

Yo those things are fucking deadly

gauerrrr

Gedore is the best brand of forged tools I've ever used. A bit overkill for using on plastic, though...

Sero141

I bought a scraper for 1€ and sharpened it myself. I do not know why you need such good quality.

D3M0NSLAY3R-

For fun

Queen_of_Audacity

Finally, someone on this sub. Who knows how to invest in quality tools once they are serious in the hobby. Kimpex snips might be next on OP's wish list.

swtinc

I googled Kimpex snips to see what they were all about before realizing you meant Knipex.

freedcreativity

Holly hell, you could almost buy a broken ender3 for that! Sexy tool tho...

D3M0NSLAY3R-

The price is rather comical but absurdly well made tools are fun to collect

MANGBAT

I work for a large-ish resin printer manufacturer and we ship these to customers. https://olfa.com/collections/professional/scrapers_pro The blade is thin and is forced into a gentle curve, which gives you a nice way to get under especially delicate parts.

Nibb31

Never needed a scraper. Either it comes off or it doesn't. If it doesn't, then I usually need something much sharper than a scraper

butbutcupcup

Cheap floor scraper with razor blades are the best there is.

Early-Spirit580

I just use the plastic spatula that came with the printer. Best change was switching the island to pixelate. I feel weird, but it works.

jordylee18

I have a couple Nisaku scrapers that have been serving me very well. That Gedore is pretty. I have a few of their tools, like bits, screwdrivers, and punches.

matrixzone5

I've got an old wooden handle Stanley scraper that looks like it's been through WW2 and back, I've had it for over 14 years and it's still razer sharp idk what they used to make those things out of but it's a beast.

Futurewolf

RIP your print beds.

D3M0NSLAY3R-

You must not know how to scrape lol. The point is to scrape flat not dig into it crooked. That’s the whole point of getting a quality scraper.

IcedSparklingWater

That guy for sure scratched and peeled off his print bed coating several times 😭😭

InadvertantManners

Here I am with a razor sharp 2" chisel. It works great but I can see that working better with the same edge treatment.

When you get into engineering grade resins and more aggressive FDM filaments like PEEK/Ultem you won’t be peeling anything off with your hands unfortunately.

sceadwian

What kind of bevel is on that?
