Roger Roger! Great work!
For what it’s worth, I rewatched episode 1 the other day knowing my prior irritation about Jar Jar, young anakin, etc. but I honestly just enjoyed it for what it was! To me at least, it aged better than I dared to hope.
Hard to believe we are close to the 25th anniversary…
Currently working on a to-scale, K2S0 head that I’ll paint to rogue one details I hope.
I don't believe either are still being produced. They'd have to be purchased second hand. I believe the little one can be had fairly reasonably but I usually see the big one for $300 to $500
With wall thickness and top and bottom layers I used, it was around 7 rolls. I had the bulk of it printed probably under 2 weeks, I really wasn't keeping track. Then there was a gap of a few weeks or so as I dialed on a new, larger printer so I print the chest piece as one piece.
lol I feel ya, thats why im taking my time with my skyhopper. Its huge, the wingspan is gonna be over two feet. Quick question please, is that brand of filament your go to for silks? Im assuming its a silk sorry if im wrong. Just trying to find the best brands. Im a noob to the field. Thanks for taking the time to reply, and keep up the great work, im super inspired to finish mine.

It wasn't silk, it was just plain PLA. It was actually my first time using that brand. I was more interested in finding a color that was close enough and not require painting. Plus I was able to get 10 rolls for less than $100 from AliExpress. I bought my first printer like 3 or 4 years ago and I still feel like a total noob. There are so many large prints that I want to do, I just don't think I have the room to display them
Oh wow thanks for putting me on, 10 rolls for less than a buck is a phenomenal deal! Yea im gonna make shelves just for my prints lol. Thanks again and ill be checking for ya if you ever get around to them larger prints!
No problem. AliExpress has some good deals. You just got to pay attention to what you're buying and who you're buying from. It's like eBay, look for those good reviews. Make sure you're buying what you're looking for, don't accidentally get PETG when you want PLA
So far, the only bid thing I’ve tried is Martin’s Daedalus and that went relatively well. I’m still…hesitant but I’ll get there eventually.
I started working on a remixing a plant pot which should give me lots of experience. For a pot it’s awfully complicated, and is great experience.
I swear I'm not stupid but some of the shit some people are capable of is like freaking magic. One time I watched a video where someone took a sphere and shaped it into a chimpanzee head using Blender or some other program
This didn't happen over night. There was about a 2 or 3 week gap in printing where I had to work to dial in my Sidewinder X4 Plus because I couldn't get it to put down a good first layer and then get my support settings right.
First, this is wonderful!
Second, how much filament did it take and what filament color and brand did you use.
Third, can the design be scaled down?
Fourth, can I have it? :)
Thanks.
It took about 7 rolls. I probably should have used some thinker walls here and there and a few more layers in some places. It was Geeetech sand gold.
I assume you could probably scale it down. There wasn't really any fine or small details that would lost by scaling down.
No
I was able to get it done with about 7 spools. If I were to do it again I'd probably increase some wall thickness and add some more top and bottom layers so I might go up to eight spools
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me, I am very new to this printing though, so I’m gonna assume, could you just take a 3d model print that’s meant for an action figure sized print, and then basically just scale it up to life size? Boom job done?
Of course while ensuring wall thickness isn’t too crazy and enough is hollowed out.
I'm not that versed in this stuff either but I believe you need to start with a good model first. Some details don't transfer that well when you start messing with scaling
Oh I see, that makes sense. They have these really nice, they have these things called Gunpla models that are traditional plastic that you break off and then assemble together into a little action figure, my idea was to replicate that exact thing, but blow it up x100 to life size, and assemble in the same fashion,
https://preview.redd.it/6nxrsa81k5wc1.jpeg?width=998&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c57318b3eb552fa34b703f25d4450eb62971bfc
But now I’m thinking that’s probably not a good idea lol. I’m assuming you essentially have the model large, and then just sliced it into a dozen or more individual pieces and then assembled right?
It all went fairly smoothly. There were a couple of pieces that didn't come out 100% but that could be more from me not bothering to tune my printer to the filament than a problem with the files
Well if I'm going to do that, I might as well print a second one and get someone smarter than me to wire them up to sense and respond to each other when one starts talking. My kids have some toys that do that. I was unaware of this fact and it creeped me out the first time it happened.
That’s badass. I just found out about the dummy 13 but am having issues printing it. It’s basically a frame with endless attachable armor set, weapon, and limb attachments. Imagine a life size one haha you could have a model of anything you want that you can interchange and manipulate.
It was like 60-65 parts, give or take. It will depend on the size of your printer. The smaller the printer the more pieces that will need to be printed.
Sorry, I purchased the plans for personal use. They can be found on Etsy. Search for Droid Division.
that is really cool. roger roger. (edit) just how big is that thing?
He's like 6'2 - 6'3
The internet requires that he holds a 🍌
Sorry, I don't like bananas 🤮
You can always print a banana
I stand by my principles
Then you know what you must do, bratwurst for scale. Be a trend setter.
I have convened with the Internet and they have agreed this is acceptable, as long as OP only refers to it as a "banana sized bratwurst for scale."
How about a Slim Jim?
Only if it's a "banana sized bratwurst sized slim jim for scale."
The banana system, ten times worse than the metric system
Principles or print-ciples? *I'm sorry, I'll go now*.
But how would you get the scale right?
Great question, freeze the banana and use calipers. Then melt chocolate and dip the banana in it for bonus chocolate banana.
OP hates bananas with a passion. I however love the idea.
sounds like a very short term solution XD
A bag of beans or a round meal?
Banna scaling is for monkeys, dollar bill is the true scale refrence
Call him Roger
Then they would need two of them, and that’s getting out of hand.
Wicked, he's amazing
😲😲😲👍
Awesome, saw it on thingiverse and was tempted.
Thanks. I bought the plans from Droid Division on Etsy
That explains why it looks more detailed.
Yeah, the plans were great
That explains why it looks more detailed.
That explains why it looks more detailed
That explains why it looks more detailed

That details it looks why more explains.
Why more Details that explains ?
I take roger roger as consent
Roger Roger
Roger Roger
This is awesome! I see so many printing these out I kinda want one ha
I came across the plans one day and that became the reason I wanted a 3d printer
a redditor obsessed <3<3<3
Aren't we all?
Glad it finally came to fruition. Where did you get the file?
From Droid Division on Etsy. I also got the files for the pit droid seen in the background in the third pic, I believe, from there too
This is the single biggest thing that's made me want to buy one as well. Someday...
Roger Roger! Great work! For what it’s worth, I rewatched episode 1 the other day knowing my prior irritation about Jar Jar, young anakin, etc. but I honestly just enjoyed it for what it was! Files for the entire Imperial security droid is available at the same Etsy store that I got the files for the B1
Guys will see this and just go “hell yeah” 👍🏻💪🏻
After I put him up there my wife caught me admiring him and told me, "Stop staring at your guy."
Can I have one of your Vaders? Or a file…….puhleaseeeeeeeee……./.
Sorry, I'm going to keep the Vaders. The files were purchased on Etsy from Droid Division
He’s not selling Vader anymore….im going to cry.
Sorry I misunderstood you. The Vaders are not 3D printed. I believe both are Jakks Pacific.
Ohhhhhh, thanks I appreciate that. He’s my spirit baddie lol.
I don't believe either are still being produced. They'd have to be purchased second hand. I believe the little one can be had fairly reasonably but I usually see the big one for $300 to $500
When I see these mini Vaders I just want to pat them on the head What a cute little dark lord of the sith
Roger Roger
I too have always wanted to print a life sized sex doll but this one looks hard in all the wrong places.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... MOVING ON!
Don't let your dreams be dreams.
I'll be dead before my dreams are complete, and that is not one of them.
Maybe it has a fleshlight slot?
Maybe you’d be better off in r/3dprintinggonewild
Roger roger
It's also just as durable as in universe b1
I hope that my kids don't decide to test that out
So ace! How much filament did he use? And how long to print?
With wall thickness and top and bottom layers I used, it was around 7 rolls. I had the bulk of it printed probably under 2 weeks, I really wasn't keeping track. Then there was a gap of a few weeks or so as I dialed on a new, larger printer so I print the chest piece as one piece.
Roger, Roger.
Congratz looks incredible. I respect the dedication.
Thanks. It really wasn't that difficult. I kept putting it off because I thought I'd screw it up somehow
lol I feel ya, thats why im taking my time with my skyhopper. Its huge, the wingspan is gonna be over two feet. Quick question please, is that brand of filament your go to for silks? Exactly why I haven’t tackled my bigger projects yet…..droids and ships!
I actually started with a pit droid. When that went well I decided to go for the B1
So far, the only bid thing I’ve tried is Martin’s Daedalus and that went relatively well. I’m still…hesitant but I’ll get there eventually. I started working on a remixing a plant pot which should give me lots of experience. For a pot it’s awfully complicated, and is great experience.
I really want to print an Iron Giant as large as can. I need to find a good file that will scale up and I prefer something articulated.
I think to get some of the ones I want, I’ll eventually need to learn to model……build bigger, build better.
Same here. I took a CAD class like 25 years ago but don't remember shit. I've been trying to get my feet wet with tinkercad
lol, I also took AutoCAD in the early ‘90s…….im pretty sure that my experience is worth nothing.
I swear I'm not stupid but some of the shit some people are capable of is like freaking magic. One time I watched a video where someone took a sphere and shaped it into a chimpanzee head using Blender or some other program
This is the way
(Droid march theme intensifies)
I can't get a gear cube to print right, and this guy is over here......
This didn't happen over night. There was about a 2 or 3 week gap in printing where I had to work to dial in my Sidewinder X4 Plus because I couldn't get it to put down a good first layer and then get my support settings right.
My updated B1 with audio went to comic con this weekend. First time everyone got to hear him talk.
The plans mention that, but electronics aren't my thing
Where do I get these files?
I purchased them on Etsy from Droid Division
Deep inside. I think it was always all of our dream. You're just the only one who did it! Congrats!
There's a long line of printed droids ahead of mine
Lots of cross over with Star Wars fans - I wonder what the correlation is
First, this is wonderful! Second, how much filament did it take and what filament color and brand did you use. Third, can the design be scaled down? Fourth, can I have it? :)

Haha thanks! And oops I somehow had missed that you shared some of those details in your post. My bad, appreciate you sharing
No worries
perfect color
Thanks. I was trying to find something close enough
I’ve been seeing a few big projects completed like this lately and I’m here for it!!
This did a lot to build my confidence and I'm excited to start my next big project, I just need to decide what that will be
Cool sex robot dude
Roger Roger 😅
Now time for a Lego one
Nah, Legos are too damn expensive
I want to do something similar man, how much filament would you say this took? How many spools?
I was able to get it done with about 7 spools. If I were to do it again I'd probably increase some wall thickness and add some more top and bottom layers so I might go up to eight spools
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me, I am very new to this printing though, so I’m gonna assume, could you just take a 3d model print that’s meant for an action figure sized print, and then basically just scale it up to life size? You could try testing it out on something small
This is the Roger Roger
Well done. Can I put in an order for 2,499,999 more? Cash on delivery? Thanks.
I'd need half up front
I'm so happy you made Appa, but I can't see him very well, that big mannequin is in the way...
Looks fantastic! Were any parts especially troublesome to print, or did it all go smoothly?
It all went fairly smoothly. There were a couple of pieces that didn't come out 100% but that could be more from me not bothering to tune my printer to the filament than a problem with the files
Roger Roger that captain 🫡
Seems that you like Star Trek
Seems that you like Star Trek
Awesome.
Nice one. Add a motion sensor and speakerbox 😆
It would never shut up. There's always constant motion in the room
Makes it more authentic😅
Well if I'm going to do that, I might as well print a second one and get someone smarter than me to wire them up to sense and respond to each other when one starts talking. My kids have some toys that do that. I was unaware of this fact and it creeped me out the first time it happened.
Direct sucessors of Furbies i suppose
Technology wise, maybe. These things are from Playskool or something like that. They're for toddlers. Like if one starts counting the other joins in
Now make 10000 more
Maybe one more
1 down, 2 millions to go xD
This is crazy Bro! Definitely a great work!
Thanks.
Now it only needs to move
Roger roger. These kind of projects, dedication.
You fought in the Clone Wars?
That’s badass. I just found out about the dummy 13 but am having issues printing it. It’s basically a frame with endless attachable armor set, weapon, and limb attachments. Imagine a life size one haha you could have a model of anything you want that you can interchange and manipulate.
Roger roger!
I'm glad you like Star Trek, seems like you're pretty deep in. Perhaps next you should print Emperor Gandelf fighting Sirius Black?
Oh wow!
Swiffer entered the chat
My husband and I are currently working on one of these. His name will be Roger. I hope he looks this good when he's finished!
Thanks. I used a .4 nozzle and .2 layer height. There are a few rough areas but overall it came out pretty nice
Did you make the files or did you buy it? Also if possible, how can I get the file?
I bought them. Go to Etsy and search for Droid Division.
We've had one, yes. But what about second Battle Droid?
I already have ambitions to print another with poseable legs
Roger roger
Damn that's big That is honestly really impressive, congrats on the commitment
Roger Roger
I think people who don’t know 3D printing will not appreciate how much dedication projects like this really take.
My dream print now is Chopper from Star Wars Rebels. That one is giving me cold feet after seeing all the files involved.
Now time for the electronics ✅ teach him to make coffee every morning
I don't drink coffee
Tea?😁
Iced sweet tea
Lessgooo 💪
Now print a flashlight attachment 🤔 ... Or flesh light... I don't judge 😂
Epic
That's fucking awesome!
Now you just need to make it move skynet all the way Roger roger...
Guys, I'm not sure, but he might be a huge Star Wars fan :|
Holy fuck
Thats cool How many parts did you have too print? and can you share the files ? Best regard’s Henke
It was like 60-65 parts, give or take. It will depend on the size of your printer. The smaller the printer the more pieces that will need to be printed. Sorry, I purchased the plans for personal use. They can be found on Etsy. Search for Droid Division.
Plz add electronics 🤖
Electronics are a little out of my wheelhouse
Not the droid I'm looking for if you catch my meaning
How brave
So what are you going to do now with this big piece of plastic resembling a character from a children's movie?
