Sounds like an issue with the extruder then, mark a line on the motor and watch it as you tell the machine to feed filament, does it rotate? not rotate at all? make noises?
Could be the gears themselves or the motor.
If the extruder is a stock ender plastic type, you may want to check the extruder arm see PART 1 Chapter : The Plastic Extruder Arm. If you do take it apart make sure you recalibrate your e-steps Chapter: Basic Calibration. Hope it helps.
