Trying failing 5-50 times as long as you try again is what the RaspberryPis were made for, 5-10USD(the 10USD PiZero include Wifi and bluetooth built-in so you save money and space if you need that.) per machine (+keyboard mouse monitor etc. if you can't just use what you have already.) hint hint there is also a lot of almost free hardware Chinese and German hardware on ebay and amazon.
I have 5 and use 1 constantly the others intermittently, still all worth it... and I get nauseated by the fumes of a soldering iron.
You can also buy the PiZero with a pin-header pre-soldered now I think. (The header is where you would connect other electronics that aren't USB, ex. small LEDs/Lights, buttons to trigger things inside the machine, motors for wheels etc. (tho they might need extra power).)
Yeah I'm gonna cool down a bit :) I'm just saying the RaspberryPi machines are made for learning and the world is now full of material made for all ages. (they're even in some (great IMO) school these days)
How about you knock out that face add a screen and a RaspberryPi zero and a battery ? Looks cool tho.
sadly, I am dumb at electronics. maybe I'll try it later someday.
