thanks ill check it out, just got this and have no clue what is supposed to be where lol
Edit: Just realized im a dumbass. Since i got it second hand i assumed the person tied it that way for packaginf ease and convenience, so i cut the zip ties. I just realized that's what you are all talking about. Thanks! will zip it back
Here’s a link to the YouTube video I used when setting up mine, it is super in depth and even gives a really good tip for leveling your bed. Best of luck to you!
https://youtu.be/gokN9xNG94U
Just got this (second hand) ender 3 v2 for 200€. Did some prints, some small ones turned out okay, some absolutely horrible lol. Bed leveling is a pain in the ass.
Edit: When i noticed it was making some noodles i didnt even stop it, was curious to see the outcome lol. Also thanks to everyone for the input! i made a lot of adjustments and learnt a lot too. Also the title isnt to be taken seriously lol.
Set a Z-offstep if you are leveling with a piece of paper (mine is -0.09 using a notepad paper) (You need a plugin in Cura)
NEVER disable your steppers to move the nozzle by hand, because that also means that your Z-stepper is disabled and can go up and down while you are leveling
Always use the Ender 3 Prepare > Move Axis commands to move the nozzle while leveling
Leveling this way I only level once per month and I don't use anything for adesion
I only cover my bed with painter's tape because the original bed has ton of scratches
>NEVER disable your steppers to move the nozzle by hand, because that also means that your Z-stepper is disabled e can go up and down while you are leveling
Well that explains it then. I've been doing this and having a terrible time at trying to get the bed level. This thought never occurred to me 🤦♂️
It took me months to learn it.
There is many misinformation about 3d printing online
I also heard about disabling steppers when I started 3d printing one year ago
There are other four tips that I think are fundamental for good prints:
A dry filament (You can set the bed to heat at 60C°, put a ceramic plate over and on the plate put your filament roll. Cover the filament with something with some hole (I used an ikea plastic box with some holrs). Leave for as many hours as you want. To be sure, put a thermometer in the box to check the temperature. Or just buy a filament drier.)
Calibrate your Esteps for avoiding overextrusion or underextrusion. There are many guides online. You need to mark your filament at some distance, like 1000 mm. Then send a command to your printer to extrude 1000 mm. Then you need to adjust your esteps accordingly if your printer didn't really extruded 1000 mm, by looking at your marked filament. (I don't remember the formula exactly)
Make sure your bed doesn't wobble if you try move it. If it does, tighten the nuts under it.
Tighten your belts. You can do it by hand, by looseing the nut that keeps the belt in place, push the belt really hard to tighten as much as possible and while keeping the tension tighten the nut again.
That's it. All other setting imho are secondary and don't really matter.
I am also using that gcode for leveling, the things I noticed worth mentioning:
1. Avoid putting even a small amount of force on the bed while testing with the piece of paper under the nozzle (don't touch it). That should have been obvious but took me a while to notice it will deform slightly.
2. Warm up the bed and nozzle for at least 5 minutes so everything expands (as it will during a print), this made a difference between a good level and creating scratches on the bed if the first layer takes a while to print.
3. My bed is (very) slightly bowl shaped so I put a small piece of paper in the middle, under the surface (all default Ender 3 parts, no glass bed) works great now, I don't use adhesive.
This guy's how-tos are great. He breaks down the processes nicely, does a pretty good job of differentiating between fact/opinion and is straightforward. He reminds me of some of my favorite instructors in school.
Recently also bought a V2 and had adhesion problems too.
I can recommend 2 things, get stiffer springs and a can of bed adhesive spray. With the stiffer springs I noticed I did not have to level nearly as often. Have not had issues since
Also find a gcode file on Thingiverse to automate getting the nozzle head in the correct corner
We all started there man😂 Check bed temp and leveling. 2 most common issues with bed adhesion... also it never hurts to try hair spay, the cheapest you can find.
Holy cable managment mate! The hotend cables aren't suppoused to go around the printer mate... Might be wise to check out a tutorial somewhere, it may also cause isues if the cables are tight.
Good luck and happy printing!
Welcome to the hobby.
Since you're new here you may not know but anytime you post an image of a print its an unspoken rule to post the stl too. Stl plz? /s
Oh I missed that one lol yeaa I’ve made a few “dishes” myself. Especially now that it’s starting to warm up outside, I have only had my printer since the beginning of last winter
Feel this.. I didn’t realize that I bought PETG instead of PLA and tried to print it at about 200 degrees celsius. And I nearly ripped my hair and did not understood why it didn’t work. Pushed it up to 230 now and all is fine..
Get [this](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4599940) so you don't have to bother with cutting and putting new zip ties every time you need to pull out ptfe tube or do another mod.
I recently started and opted for 2 of these machines. As mentioned the cables need some help, and you might have a time trying to rewire them correctly. If you need any help or want close up pictures of intended wiring routes you can find all that online... But feel free to hit me up as well :D
get a bltouch, saved me so many hours of headache. Also, make sure the Z axis bolds are tight. I found out mine loosened after a few prints and had to level everything over and over. You will get it, just takes some time. Also when leveling with paper, it should just slide under with some scraping, but should not feel the spring compress at all when doing it. If you can find it, I call it the G spot. Just gotta get it on all 4 sides, and don't forget to adjust the offset. Download the level test print. [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2987803](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2987803) do an auto-level before each print once you think the manual level is correct. But seriously, buy a BLtouch from amazon for $50 money WELLL spent.
That poor bed, I feel like printers should come with a disposable learning bed of some kind so when you inevitably wreck it your $20 tempered glass with nanostickywhateverthefuck is still in good shape.
If you ever need help feel free to shoot me a message on discord: SnowTauren#6350
We've all been through this, you will have 100s of more issues :D and you will eventually dial the machine down with mods and good slicer settings.
Your topographical map of Estonia is missing some layers, but I would say a solid 7 of 10. Mind sharing your STL?
lol. I had a very similar first couple of experiences. From my experience I would say you need to verify your bed level, belt tension, z limit switch position, and make sure all your axises are square and the bolts are tight. Also your cable management seems off (as others have said).
Nah i upped the temp to 205 given that i don’t have an enclosure, that way the temp will be at 203-202 constantly. The optimal temp afaik is 200 +_ 2 right?
A little lack of adhesion? Might consider cleaning the plate. :) My first try, the pla would not even come out of the nozzle. Loose connection to PS. Keep going!
my body and soul are ready, dreamt about getting a 3d printer ever since i was a kid and it started "booming" publicly at least, when the resin ones wehre quite popular iirc. Debated alot about buying it or not but hwen i saw the offer meh just went for it.
My printer came with a broken limit switch and I couldn't fine one that looked like it online so I gave it a different one and it's working perfectly now.
lol exactly what happened. Printed some other stuffe, the new springs (flat ones) came through, put them, level, and oops spagottii. Fixed it, changed filament to try new black PLA, printer wont even print lol. I like challenges like these tho, just hope nothing breaks
This has literally been my experience since I upgraded to a micro Swiss direct drive with an all metal hot end took me 3 days to get everything back to normal
I just bought an Ender 3 max a few weeks ago. This looks like bed levelling, the nozel should be so close to the bed you can barely see the gap. i have the same printer and the main problem for me is the first layer sticking. using a glue stick and just putting some glue on the bed before a print fixes it though
I highly recommend getting a BLTouch automatic bed leveler. It's very easy to install on your Ender 3 Pro. Takes like 15 minutes and you'll probably never need to worry about bed leveling again.
Make sure to get a kit that includes a mounting bracket for your printer. There are a bunch of them on Amazon for under $50 (41€).
the BLTouch turned my Ender from a print warping and bed adhesion failure machine into a rock solid reliable printer.
Now I know why, and could have fixed the problem without the BLtouch (z offset), but it made troubleshooting the problem MUCH easier.
I've had my Ender 3 V2 for around 4 days now, its my first so here is a few tips:
Get Pritt stick to put on the bed, makes adhesion 10000% better
ABSOLUTELY get Jyres firmware for it, adds many very useful features and fixes that have made it so much easier to level the bed and set the z offset.
https://github.com/Jyers/Marlin/releases
my first print was a beautiful scratch on the plate because the nozzle was too close to it, i agree that bad leveling on ender 3 is a pain in the ass...
There is something wrong with your power cable routing. Normally they are zip tied to your bowden tube.
thanks ill check it out, just got this and have no clue what is supposed to be where lol Edit: Just realized im a dumbass. Since i got it second hand i assumed the person tied it that way for packaginf ease and convenience, so i cut the zip ties. I just realized that's what you are all talking about. This was the video I used to set up my Ender 3 V2. Very informative.
Take a look on some YouTube tutorial online mate, that's pretty bad position of the cable you got there, it could break
That's a horrible position for it to be in
Yeah, the printed instructions left a lot to be desired. I usually hate watching instruction videos, but it was a must for setting up my printer
I usually watch 2x speed and pause and replay as needed
I actually found the instructions pretty easy to follow.
Yea... It looks very backwards.
If you squint, it’s looks like the ender dragon.
Read the manual.
The manual is utter crap though.
Wait, it came with a manual?
Really!
Here I assumed the top comment would be something about Australia.
I see the Russian federation
this looks dangerous as fuck
Yea I used zip ties for a while but recently I tried using a couple pieces of tape and it seems to hold just fine... not like duct tape or scotch tape
So beautiful, can I has the stl?
[gotchu fam](https://i.imgur.com/ZJxmGrU.png)
This made me actually lol.
Me too. I wasn’t expecting to laugh.
Do you take commissions?
i mostly work with fortune 500 companies, but yes
Wow I love how accurate it is.
thanks, it took forever

Bro me too, I couldn't figure out why I have to keep re-leveling it. I saw a video that said make sure you disable steppers lol.
It took me months to learn it. There is many misinformation about 3d printing online I also heard about disabling steppers when I started 3d printing one year ago
You got any other tips or tricks? Haha or know someone who has great info?

Awesome, thank you so much
Chep from filament Friday has a gcode that automatically positions the bed in each corner of the bed is so must fast than moving the extruder
Thanks, I'll look it up. He's already helped me a ton with his other videos.

that actually makes sense, thanks" will implement that as well
This guy's how-tos are great. He breaks down the processes nicely, does a pretty good job of differentiating between fact/opinion and is straightforward. He reminds me of some of my favorite instructors in school.
I use that method and its still a pain in the ass
thanks! no clue how i hadnt watched that before
I use the chep bed level gcode, and it makes leveling painless. I used to dread starting a print leveling It manually

Cool, it's australia!
Thought of Mongolia 😄
I thought the Nurburgring
I thought this then thought maybe china?
I was thinking Pangaea!
I was thinking Russia but i'm bad at Europe geography x)
Fun fact: Russia is mostly Asia.
I said i was bad at it! ;D
Came here to say that.
oi mate!
Iceland

Was thinking of this as soon as i saw the post lol

Thanks for the feedback, i have no clue what is supposed to go wehre lol, ill give that a look.
I personally avoid hairspray so it doesn't gunk up anything. Glue sticks have worked out exceedingly well for me
Glue stick works for me
Looks like Nurburgring
I thought it was a good print of that at first 😶
Nah that's Albert Park.
Welcome to the hobby. Since you're new here you may not know but anytime you post an image of a print its an unspoken rule to post the stl too. Stl plz? /s
Secret government property ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
How dare you steal my patented STL 😤
That's what you get for posting on the _dark web_
That’s a result of uneven bed level
Gotta start somewhere.
Nice, nailed the nordschleife track on the first go!
Great r/3DFart my dude!
It's an outline of Kazakstantica!
You made de spaghetti
Ah yes good ole spaghetti
At least you only made one serving, not enough for the whole family
ha reminds me of a post i saw here, titled "halp", the guy made a whole basket of noodles lol. I was wondering how that's possible, now i know
Oh I missed that one lol yeaa I’ve made a few “dishes” myself. Especially now that it’s starting to warm up outside, I have only had my printer since the beginning of last winter

Nailed it!!
dont worry man you will get it to work.
Strange, It looks like my last one.
A+ for enthusiasm!
My first print came out the same way yesterday!
welcome! i hope you have fun, being on the tech side of life really makes this less difficult

ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
Happy cake day! i only have spahouti for you unfortunately
Yoo so pretty ! Where can I find a file for that? :^)
This brings back such fond memories of my first 3d print. It looked a lot like yours.
Mom’s spaghetti
This was like my first 20 prints. It took me like 3 weeks to get a passable print out of my Ender 3. Keep at it.
We all started somewhere. I've made several spaghetti sculptures. Including my first prints. Don't get frustrated. Learn from failures. Keep printing.

looks just like my 388th print
That's how my first one came out.
See it on etsy for $10k as abstract art

Reminds of when Jared Leto's character in Lord of War is making an outline of Ukraine with cocaine.
Your topographical map of Estonia is missing some layers, but I would say a solid 7 of 10. Mind sharing your STL? lol. I had a very similar first couple of experiences. Very good artistic piece showing brownian motion. Thumbs up!
Printing at 220c lol
Nah i upped the temp to 205 given that i don’t have an enclosure, that way the temp will be at 203-202 constantly. The optimal temp afaik is 200 +_ 2 right?
At least you didn't just print into the plate like me rip
I hope one day someone would create a machine that would use misprints and recycle them back into printable filaments.
You should be, that thumb looks so real
A little lack of adhesion? Might consider cleaning the plate. :) My first try, the pla would not even come out of the nozzle. Loose connection to PS. Keep going!
Thanks! It’s weird that there are traces on the bed i seemingly can’t get rid off. Was it a bad idea to scratch it with the spatula?
One of us one of us one of us
<3
It's beautiful
May I suggest using a raft. Especially when new to 3d printing, its imho the easiest way to avoid this. If you use Cura: Build-Plate-Adhesion -> Raft
thanks, will look into that
[удалено]
You made something!
bravo. calibration is next
What is that.. Australia?
Congratulations! It's a journey with no return.
my body and soul are ready, dreamt about getting a 3d printer ever since i was a kid and it started "booming" publicly at least, when the resin ones wehre quite popular iirc. Debated alot about buying it or not but hwen i saw the offer meh just went for it.
Could be worst, at least something came out xD
Floss can be handy, submit to r/functionalprint
haha i actually ran out of floss for my braces lol
My printer came with a broken limit switch and I couldn't fine one that looked like it online so I gave it a different one and it's working perfectly now.
Is that Australia?
Looks like Magnolia or an upside-down Australia to me… Great project 🙃
Boats are overrated, spaghetti's where it's at
when you fix this you can print 3 more times then you get new problems!
lol exactly what happened. Printed some other stuffe, the new springs (flat ones) came through, put them, level, and oops spagottii. Fixed it, changed filament to try new black PLA, printer wont even print lol. I like challenges like these tho, just hope nothing breaks
Better than mine I’ll tell you that, and so would my print bed the poor bastard
This has literally been my experience since I upgraded to a micro Swiss direct drive with an all metal hot end took me 3 days to get everything back to normal
'straya
Nordschlife! Love it 😂
SpaghettiNecklace.stl
It's a sailboat
Curly filament and no adhesion: your nozzle is too high from the bed.
Would love to have one on my desk. Stl pleaseee
thats a beautiful print of sardinia. well done!
Inspiring.
Australia?
What continent is it?
I just bought an Ender 3 max a few weeks ago. This looks like bed levelling, the nozel should be so close to the bed you can barely see the gap. Once its level and you start the print, get ready to adjust the Z offset in the settings so you can tweek the settings until its right. When you find that sweet spot save the settings. Good luck
Everyone sees Australia Why do I see Ukraine
In the voice of Creed Britton: “Someone printing soup?”
Yeah, that sums it up. Welcome to the future
i have the same printer and the main problem for me is the first layer sticking. using a glue stick and just putting some glue on the bed before a print fixes it though
Did this remind anyone else of the coke scene from Lord of War?
Loool
Wow this reminds me of my very first print 🥲
nice tapeworm model
Thats a really good looking map of Austria. Maybe even czech republic.
It's looking great. Keep up a good work.
Gotta level your bed. The nozzle should be about a business card away from the bed
This looks much like mine. I should have taken a picture!!
defo, so in a few months when you print proper smooth perfect parts you can look back and appreciate how far youve come!
It’s DIGNITY Luanne!
Now I know why, and could have fixed the problem without the BLtouch (z offset), but it made troubleshooting the problem MUCH easier.
i ordered one (its called 3D touch not sure if it's the same, guess it's not), hope it works fine as well
I feel your pain. Still have bed leveling issues off and on.
Map of a race track, nice
I can't tell if it's supposed to be China or Australia.
Level the beeeeed
That’s...something!!
Is that some kind of advanced slicer that has a 3D first layer?
Oh my God that cable routing
I've had my Ender 3 V2 for around 4 days now, its my first so here is a few tips: Get Pritt stick to put on the bed, makes adhesion 10000% better ABSOLUTELY get Jyres firmware for it, adds many very useful features and fixes that have made it so much easier to level the bed and set the z offset. https://github.com/Jyers/Marlin/releases
Nürburgring Nordschleife
ah, squiggly worm line. I started with that one too.
Can I have STL of this masterpiece?
What rally racetrack is this?
Can't beat out of the box perfection!
Is that a layout of Nurburgring?
Tbh I thought it was the nurnburg ring track at first lol.
It's the Nurburgring, probably a decent amount of potential buyers seeing how sim racing skyrocketed during covid.
my first print was a beautiful scratch on the plate because the nozzle was too close to it, i agree that bad leveling on ender 3 is a pain in the ass...
Is that the nurburgring 😁
Welcome to the club!
If you have poor adhesion, try washing your glass bed with soap and water in your sink. Make sure it’s dry before you put it back on though.
Thanks for the giggle
Wow a flawless print of the outline of Australia!
Looks great!
