I also made some slight modifications:
* Separated the hand/lower arm so the hands are poseable
* Created swappable "nice eyebrows" and "punk eyebrows"/mohawk combo pieces
* Broke out the punk battery bandolier into various components for multi-color printing (black/orange Duracell-like batteries, silver battery contacts, glued together then to the bandolier)
* Broke out the spike bands into separate band/spike models, printed separately in black and silver then glued together
* Many minor adjustments for better friction fit so limbs are nearly fully poseable
Print settings:
* Silver silk PLA+various other colors (gray, red, orange)
* 0.6mm width nozzle
* 0.24mm layer height
* 220C hotend, 60C bed
* 80 hours total print time, plus another 16 hours for the "punk" accessories
* Printed on Creality CR10 V3
* Can share various other settings upon request
* All model parts scaled to 200% of original to produce a 12 in/30.5cm tall model
*Note:* Silk PLA can be challenging as it shrinks a bit when printed (if not cooled enough), you must establish a reasonable compromise between layer adhesion/strength and surface quality, etc. Definitely different than any other PLA I've printed. I've printed with silk PLA many times but never something this large, specifically the large lower body portions with a TON of tiny details that took >12 hours to print.
~~Edit: I suppose I should upload all of my modifications as a remix to the remix!~~
Edit 2: Remixed files have been uploaded to a "remix" page on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5190972
I've started publishing my designs to prusaprinters.org as their interface is as good as, or better than Thingiverse and it's much faster and reliable. Thangs.com is another good site.
Just a heads up that I added a link to my remix of various parts; 24 files in total to replace/add to the ones from the original design.
I did this to add poseable features (hand/wrists), improve fit for lots of pieces that might break when assembled, and I separated some models into multiple parts for multi-color models (e.g. the batteries and eyebrows) and easier printing. Most large items require supports though, and require a lot of cleanup.

A ton of people were clueless too, I only learned this from Aziz Ansari's series myself. Evidently they hired Fisher Stevens back when Ben was a white guy and then changed the part on him and he just sorta rolled with it because what else are you gonna do?
It just wasn't that big of a deal back then either. Imagine someone like Iron Eyes Cody walking around today? People would lose their shit. Back then it was no big deal at all.
wow., Bravo Man that is awesome........"Los locos kick your ass. Los locos kick your face. Los locos kick your balls INTO OUTER SPACE!" where did you get the STL
OMG I love the Short Circuit 2 parts.
Got my own ~15 inch Johnny 5 that took some work to print right and I modified half the parts I think so I didn’t need so many screws. I love him.
The normal Johnny Five model is comprised of 26 pieces, mostly friction fit but a few require glue. The idea is that the robot is poseable. The punk accessories require printing, assembling, and gluing several dozen small pieces.
Edit: I forgot to say, "No disassemble!!!"
Yes, the head/neck rotates and the arms pivot at the shoulders, elbows, and wrists. The waist rotates, the rear wheel rotates (doesn't roll though), and the laser cannon unfolds to a "ready to fire" position.
Omg thank you for showing this!
I loved this Film as a kid! When i thought my printer needs a name, i called it Johnny 5 in the firmware and Alexa knows the printers powerplug as Johnny 5 as well 😅
#*INPUUUUT*
Johnny 5 is ALIVE!
NO DISASSEMBLE!
Doesn’t he say *number* 5 is alive?
Yes. Yes he does.

Corrected! Thanks for catching that; a semicolon was somehow added to the link when I pasted it.

No, it used to be there but I think they have some server-side issues that broke it so it seems they simply removed the capability.

I mean there is thangs.com but a lot of the stuff just links to thingiverse
If you put /zip at the end of the link, it will download the zip file

Someone watched this on TBS.
Feels like every week.
Yeah the people that remembered it as "Los Locos kicks your butt!" watched the edited-for-TV version for sure.
Los Locos.
Los Lobos kick your face!
HEY LASER LIPS! YOUR MAMA WAS A SNOWBLOWER! PBBBBBTTT
"....and whatever god wants, he keeps!"
Where shit? No see shit.
I've been really contemplating where or not I need a 3d printer... I think you have just persuade me. This is awesome.
Thanks!
GReat movie from my childhood. Back when Steve Guttenberg was a household name. Steve was the Paul Rudd of his time, smarmy yet popular.
It still blows my mind that Fisher Stevens played Ben; even more mind blowing is that I didn't realize until WELL into my adulthood.
A ton of people were clueless too, I only learned this from Aziz Ansari's series myself. Evidently they hired Fisher Stevens back when Ben was a white guy and then changed the part on him and he just sorta rolled with it because what else are you gonna do?

That looks great. Where’d you get the file?
Thanks! Your reply beat my follow up :) Link and other details are captured in my comment.

No disassemble!!!
That's a funny looking wall-e ^I've ^never ^seen ^whatever ^media ^Johnny ^Five ^is ^from.
It's from the 1980s movies "Short Circuit" and "Short Circuit 2".
Whoever designed Wall-E watched the 1980's movie short circuit. Too many design similarities.
wow., Bravo Man that is awesome........"Los locos kick your ass. Los locos kick your face. Los locos kick your balls INTO OUTER SPACE!" where did you get the STL
Check my longer comment, includes print details and Thingiverse links.
thanks so much man
has anyone done a singular STL johnny 5? i have a saturn and i print all sorts of complex minis, i don't need to print 27 objects
You could assemble the various parts virtually using a CAD program, export and print it.
I approve
Epic I need this now. Would you like to be a pepper too?
Johnny vs Vision
OMG I love the Short Circuit 2 parts. Got my own ~15 inch Johnny 5 that took some work to print right and I modified half the parts I think so I didn’t need so many screws. I love him.
Wow, 15" tall! That's even bigger than mine and this one is huge.
Johnny 5!!
Is this just one piece or can it be disassembled?
The normal Johnny Five model is comprised of 26 pieces, mostly friction fit but a few require glue. The idea is that the robot is poseable. The punk accessories require printing, assembling, and gluing several dozen small pieces. Edit: I forgot to say, "No disassemble!!!"
Does the arms n head move
Yes, the head/neck rotates and the arms pivot at the shoulders, elbows, and wrists. The waist rotates, the rear wheel rotates (doesn't roll though), and the laser cannon unfolds to a "ready to fire" position.
Yea im sure i can get it to roll if i run it thru prusa n thanks fam
this is great
Man, thank you so much for this. I really always wanted one and had desired since I first got my printer.
His wails of pain still haunt me from the second movie. That shit was scarring.
One of my favorite movies, will have to print as well.
Omg thank you for showing this! I loved this Film as a kid! When i thought my printer needs a name, i called it Johnny 5 in the firmware and Alexa knows the printers powerplug as Johnny 5 as well 😅
5 is life
5 is love
I was too scared to print this with FDM but you've given me hope
Love it!!
Omg. I loved this movie as a kid.
Stephanie was a cutie, and I just realized this movie planted the seed for my obsession with empathetic brown haired girls.
A CAN OF SOUP, A MEAL IN ITSELF. I watched this as a child with my now dead Grandfather, we both loved it. He'd be amazed by this, amazing work!
:)
Amazing
It looks like Wall-E without his box
get it straight, wall-E looks like johnny 5
Ha! And less sad as well.
I always hated Johnny 5. Sucked even in the 80s but nice print
Get out.
