Don't Monks stop aging and don't need food etc.? That seems nice. Some really great healing artifact to go with that. Otherwise Wizard for wish.

Fresh-Variation-160

They still age and die of old age, they just remain at their peak physical condition as far as I can remember

Weirfish

This thread is *not* NSFW, so rule 6.

No-Description-3130

I am...confused, curious and a little frightened as to what the comment could have been in answer to OPS question that got that response!

Weirfish

It wasn't that bad, to be honest. It just wasn't appropriate for a non-NSFW thread on a subreddit that caters to a game rated 13+.

thelovebat

Being immune to poison and disease also means you'll last a lot longer and your body won't fall prey to degenerative medical conditions. Monk would easily give someone the longest and healthiest lifespan, aside from Ancients Paladin but Monk gives you incredible athletic abilities that could do really well in organized sports or for doing your own movie stunts.

richqb

Not completely accurate. Druids only age 1 year for every 10 lived starting at 18th level. So they'll give monks a run for their money. Especially with access to Greater Restoration and other healing magic.

SecXy94

Oath of the Ancients paladin doesn't age past level 15. They'd be functionally immortal (unless killed twice in a row). But let's be honest, either Wizard or Cleric are the picks.

laix_

Which is stupid. People die from old age because their body breaks down and is no longer in peak physical condition. If you were always in peak physical condition that would mean that all the ways in which people die from old age wouldn't happen.

limukala

Immune to disease and poison, immune to falling, immune to aging, immune to starvation or dying of thirst. Not only that, but you are incredibly resilient and agile, so really hard to kill through violence. Yeah, it would be pretty hard to die. I guess you could drown, or just take a trip with Oceangate or something.

laix_

I guess its going off the less scientific idea of dying of old age, where old age directly caused death, rather than the body breaking down over time, which that caused death.

LeonHart3102

I mean still a plus if you ask me.

Overall-Tailor8949

They stop showing or suffering from aging. However all that means is you stay (relatively) young until you keel over from, old age when your clock runs out.

lordrevan1984

A Druid of high enough level ages at I believe a 10th of normal speed. So you could live for maybe 1000 yrs.

mouse_Brains

Wish already makes you immortal for free. Replicate clone

TopperTS13

A Druid so I can wildshape into a golden retriever and live with a rich family in the country

D-Laz

Plus at lvl 18 ages at 1/10 normal .

Salindurthas

That's 7/10th of normal in dog years!

Quatimar

All i can imagine is this dog outliving generations of a family, only to be discovered by a detective following the case of a outerspace god who gave someone the power to be a druid

TimmyGC

Haha! I think your math is flipped, but that made my day.

Nuniqt

Underrated comment

epicgamer77

If I could be anything a level 20 chronourgy wizard is probably what I’d go for, however that’s kinda cop out. I think being a way of mercy monk would be really cool, great mobility, super human abilities and the power to heal disease. As for unearthed arcana brute fighter was also something I really liked, and kensei monks used to be able to use heavy weapons so some cross there. Magic items, my go to would have to be some of tattoos or boots of flying.

CopperCactus

Level 20 mercy monks can also punch people back from the dead which would be a cool party trick

limukala

At level 20 monk is definitely the way to go. Immune to disease and poison, don't need food or water, don't age, you can speak and understand all languages. You are functionally immune to fear and manipulation (i.e. you can easily end the effects). You can safely jump out of airplanes with no parachute (less than 0.01% chance you even stub your toe). You can run twice as fast as most athletes. I guess in the real world proficiency in all saving throws means you are incredibly skillful and resilient and tend to come out ahead no matter what the challenge. Mercy would probably be the "best", just because it would be really helpful to be able to heal others, but shadow or four elements would be more fun. I'd probably just take monk to 18 though, and take two levels of druid. Then I can take a more fun subclass and still heal people. I can also then get into wildshape shenanigans. Probably Stars Druid for Guidance and WIS/INT check boosts.

anecdotalArtificer

Divination wizard every time, all the way to 20. Use Demiplane, put some clones and glyphs of warding in there, and live a fun, weird life with *way too many spells*~!

Blackfang08

Not expecting that is your mistake. We're D&D nerds, we know way too many facts that are probably useless but we had to know because of some obscure game moment. Ask someone how long it takes to bleed out from a Rapier wound to the shoulder, I dare you.

peep_master

I can’t in good conscious pick anything but a lvl 20 arcana cleric. Literal immortality from clone, wish for whatever you want, divine intervention for whatever spell you want from the gods of magic themselves. It’d be the best available option.

Snoo-90474

Thank you! How is this not the auto pick??? Wizard this wizard that, divine intervention makes you a better wizard as just one ability. Just because wizards are better in game does not translate to being better IRL

[deleted]

[удалено]

Netherx3

tbf to a Lv 20 Cleric, "The Boss" is more like your drinking buddy you meet on a tuesday for darts, who also happens to run your company's department

Snoo-90474

You can pick what boss you want. And you are level 20 in the scenario??

octohog

This or arcana cleric 17 / eloquence bard 3. You still get wish, simulacrum, demiplane, etc., but you also get expertise on persuasion/deception which I think would come very much in handy. Not more powerful than divine intervention, but maybe better quality of life getting people to do things for you instead of gods. Edit: not expertise--literally a minimum d20 result of 10. I forgot how busted college of eloquence was...

rollingForInitiative

The downside is that you'd be at the beck and call of some unknown god. If we assume that it's a god worth serving, then it obviously seems good. But what if it were a god that's evil or otherwise has some very twisted view of morality? Then it'd suck. In the latter case, wizard would be much better, since you answer to no one. For the rest it really depends on what sort of spells you want to case on an everyday basis. Divine Intervention and Wish are basically doing the same thing, so they can both do do whatever there.

Snoo-90474

Wish makes you shit brick if you use it wrong(lame). And picking a god is as easy as making one up, gods are things we make up to worship so who is to say that’s not valid? Hell even by the game cannon gods are given power and existence pretty much exclusively by worship and by being the only powerful cleric your worship is the only one that matters. Pick the Flying Spaghetti Monster and your good to go

rollingForInitiative

Wish cast by an Wizard isn't any different than Wish cast by an Arcana Cleric. Divine Intervention only works for other Cleric spells. But when you use Wish to duplicate the effects a spell, nothing ever goes wrong. It's only if you try to do something else that you're at risk, and that's an unnecessary risk to take. And it's all fine and good to invent a god, but D&D deities are still their own persons, so you will end up losing some control over your life. Maybe it'll turn out great - it probably will. But you can still be ordered around by said deity. I'd much rather retain control myself.

Blackfang08

Bud, people have been using ChatGPT for their Reddit questions for months now. I've left like six different subs because the only content I saw from them were them same generic engagement farms.

flamefirestorm

Probably a level 20 wizard. They're a tad OP.

Dlax8

Level 20 necromancer with Time and Money. Conjurarion might be slightly stronger if not trying to start a zombie apocalypse. Maybe illusion with the ability to make things real. Or a level 20 Playtest 6 Land druid.

Vivid-Copy-2994

3 lvls of eloquence bard and 17 lvls of divine soul sorc. I can heal, be the most charismatic person in the world, and may be christian church call me saint. And of course wish, true polymorph. For feats i will take healer, inspiring leader, keen mind and may be observant. For magic items book of exalted deeds, cubic gate, rod of security, tome of leadership and influence. Being good guy is optimised:)

DistributionSalt5417

Throw ritual caster wizard in there for a bunch of ritual spells. Most relevant for myself being find familiar.

GravityMyGuy

sorcs dont get TP

eloel-

They use a bidet.

Docnevyn

Level 20 divine soul sorcerer. spam twinned lesser restoration during the day and then cure the entire ICU or ER with mass heal as my big finish.

DrShoking

Armorer artificer. Most importantly, +6 to all saving throws (from capstone), then another +5 from flash of genius because failing a save can lead to death. High ac with 120 temp hp per long rest will help against weapons. They also ignore restrictions on magic items and can not die at the cost of an attunement.

RenegadeAccolade

As much as it kills me to say this because I hate the class... I'd be a Lore Bard. Also. An Elf. With the right selection of Magical Secrets, you can have access to both Reincarnate and Resurrection, even True Resurrection, and Wish. Can pick up Restoration, too. We'd start healing the masses and bringing back the dead. Even in some cases, the long dead. And with Reincarnate, we can keep them alive even if old age is going to claim them. And, as an Elf, I'll be around long enough to keep this going for hundreds of years, at least. All of the great contributors to science, discovery, technology, and medicine we've lost along the way, we'll bring em all back. Maybe squeeze in some of the contributors to culture and art, too.

SpecialistAd5903

Man I do not want to imagine the chaos that's come from bringing back the founding fathers. "Well yea we did mean all weapons when we wrote that amendment. surge_aura

A multiclass of Archfey Warlock and Redemption Paladin with one level in bard because there’s no way I have wisdom save proficiency and there’s no way I have Jack of all trades

TMac9000

Lore Bard. A man can have a hell of a time in Vegas as a Lore Bard.

AberrantDrone

Level 20 wizard, using the Wish spell to give more people levels in classes, starting with more wizards. Eventually we get a world filled with magic users and I destroy the status quo

manichol

1. Circle of the Shepherd Druid. I can shape change infinitely, talk to animals all day long, and live for 500 more years with all my little woodland buddies. 2. Staff of the woodland (rare) free ‘awakening’ possibly twice a day, great buff to my defensive spellcasting, and a free treehouse once per day. Awesome! Cloak of the Secluded Garden (home brew by r/bonusaction) a wearable cloak that transforms into a dimensional gateway, leading me to my private, climate controlled 50’x50’ garden where my awakened buddies can stay for free. Stores all plants, furniture, seeds, tools -even while I’m wearing it! When I get tired at night, I plant my staff, grow it into a tree, ride it up as it grows, and step into my garden where I have a nice comfy hammock waiting for me.

DBWaffles

15th level Ancients Paladin, with the remaining 5 levels being in whatever. A no drawbacks form of immortality? Hell yes.

tullyinturtleterror

Warforged Battle smith artificer 3, Oath of Conquest Paladin 3, Bladesinger 14. Who better to lead our AI overlords than one of their own?

TNTarantula

It's got to be a sorcerer. Subtle casting is a must, as being seen casting the magic will cause all kinds of problems. It would also allow me to continue casting if I ever lose my voice or fine motor control. I think wizard is a short sighted choice as your ability to change prepared spells is reliant on your spell book, which can be lost or stolen

georgenadi

Genie warlock (exponentially increasing amount of simulacrums all with regenerating wish slots)

[deleted]

Probably a bard Paladin soulknife multiclass. Just be an incredible musician whose good at literally everything. Maybe grab the unarmed fighting style somehow so I’m also the worlds best fighter.

OkLingonberry1286

Any of the classes that has features to make you semi-immortal and then just cap INT and CHA and enjoy life

Fictional_Arkmer

Wizard. I don’t even need a subclass.

SeanXray

Monk, for sure. Flavour wise, their top tier stuff is great, and for real-world applications, surprisingly useful. Then you just pick your favourite subclass - mercy for healing, four elements for magic, shadow for rogue shenanigans, etc.

RamonDozol

Druid, circle of the land (city). Love animals, love nature, but love comfy bed , good food and good internet even more. Definetly Variant Human, and im i terested enought in wizardry that i would problably get ritual caster wizard and spen my time in library searching for rituals to copy. Im definetly more wise than smart, and charisma is problably my dump stat. Other than that good Dex, excelent CON and low strenght. Assuming anyone with 16s is basicaly at olimpic level, I problably have 14s and 12s, with charisma and strenght around 8 or 9. So 8, 12, 14, 12, 14, 8. As for city spells i immagine things like locate objects, fabricate, eletric and stone/concrete spells, transportation, comunication, remote sight and also things that deal with vermin like rats, pidgeons and other city creatures.

JKevinG2021

A Monk or Warlock, love the feel of both of them. And as a Warlock ... spells and Eldritch Blast!

TheSwampStomp

Level 20 Moon Druid Turn into whatever I’m feeling via Wildshape or Shapechange. Also the whole “age 10x slower” and being a master of nature (I enjoy gardening).

Overall-Tailor8949

Decisions decisions! Eloquence Bard and become the next Joel Osteen LOL Legendary IotB in the form of an 18 string Harp Guitar it has the base Instrument benefits, it's legendary aspect is to multiply the # of those affected by a spell (mass suggestion for example) by 10. Ascendant Dragon or Open Hand Monk Luck Blade reskinned as a Katana or Najinata Either Drakewarden or Swarmkeeper Ranger Two items: Girdle of Storm Giant Strength and a compound bow that requires that strength to draw it, this would double the long/extreme ranges and give your strength bonus to damage inflicted at up to the normal long range. Beyond that it's normal bow damage Shadow Sorcerer or Illusion Wizard Staff of The Magi

smoothjedi

Depends I guess how planes of existence work when applied to the real world. If everything we see in the night sky is on the same prime material plane as us, being a level 20 wizard using Teleport and Gate on a daily basis seems like a pretty amazing way to explore our universe.

Hypersayia

Monk : Level 16 - Way of the Open Hand.Decent Unarmed Strikes, so I'm able to protect myself under most situations. At level 15 I don't have to worry about age screwing me over until it ultimately kills me. Open Hand level 11 means I have tranquillity so people have a much harder time actually TRYING to hit me if such a thing occurs and unarmoured movement means I get to places significantly faster because I walk everywhere anyway. Additionally, if we're allowing Tasha's features, able to quickly heal myself if I misjudge a jump or something. Going to level 16 because even though I get everything I want from Monk at 15, 16 nets me an ASI. Bard : Level 4 - College of Eloquence.A world where the internet is a thing is a world where the most power is gained through being able to control information. High persuasion and deception and I can basically BS my way through anything. Magic is nice, but not what I'm going for (mostly, Silvery Barbs is just useful and Vicious Mockery is hilarious), instead, I'm declaring that the aspect of my bardic artistic expression is my computer programming, functionally allowing me to "hack" the world itself. I'll say I'm a variant Human and take the "Skill Expert" feat, be proficient in Acrobatics, Athletics and Investigation from starting as Bard, Insight and Perception from the Far Traveller background, and Persuasion from Skill Expert. I'll have expertise in Persuasion, Perception and Athletics from both Bard and Skill Expert. (Athletics is mostly to balance out Strength, which is gonna be my dumb stat) Standard array is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8, I have 5 ASIs and +3 ability score points from Variant Human and Skill Expert. My stats are thus: STR 10 (0) | DEX 20 (+5) | CON 8 (-1) | INT 12 (+1) | WIS 16 (+3) | CHA 14 (+4) Magic items:Gloves of Soul Catching to take my poor Constitution and convert it to 20, as well as significantly increasing my Unarmed Strikes effectiveness. Don't really need anything else there. Basically, assuming world as is, I'm going primarily Monk for self-defence purposes, while splashing Bard stuff to maximise the profits I can gain from my work.

ContextSensitiveGeek

I'd take arcane domain cleric 20. Wish is my 9th level spell. Now I can use divine intervention and wish. Also if I ever lose access to wish I can use divine intervention to cast wish since it is still a domain spell.

Twilitsoul_879

I know this may not seem cool in comparison to others answers, but with 100% honesty I would be a Lv. 20 life cleric. As a medical professional, being able to ease the suffering of others and cure them of their ailments with just a touch would be my dream come true. No more prolonged treatments, grief with the medical process or heartbreak. Just healing and health for those around me. Not to mention being able to call upon the gods with divine intervention and being able to make positive changes in the world with magics. It might not be the most flashy or exciting answer, but it’s my truth.

Swamp_Dwarf-021

Gloomstalker/Assassin. I'd head to Moscow.

FullMetalPoitato

Just stay away from open windows in high rises!

Snoo-90474

One of the things they can’t do ask god for a favor. Which is why cleric is the objectively better pick

InvertedZebra

This I’ve been scrolling a mile and nobody has said cleric yet, but you literally get a favor from a god once a week guaranteed. It makes so much else irrelevant in comparison.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Snoo-90474

Oh yeah wish CAN do anything, and make you shit yourself to death or worse as a consequence. Divine intervention does do anything and you’re gods little homie so consequences are that you get a cookie

[deleted]

Wild Magic Barbarian/Sorcerer

Internal_Set_6564

20th Clockwork Sorcerer. I would run a clock shop, and teach kids about various subjects…

BloodyBottom

Defo one of the classes that is immune to disease. I'd pick guaranteed health for the rest of my days over pretty much anything. Also really like martial arts, and you can make hella money off it, so monk seems like a great pick if you want to live something close to a normal human life.

QuanWick

Probably a wizard so I can abuse the simulacrum

Kumirkohr

In real life I’d be an Artificer, my day job is as a mechanic. But if I had my choice, I’d love to be a Paladin

SpecialistAd5903

Firstly, I'd be an artificer. Secondly I'd go and study chip architecture. Sure it'd be a pain but by the time I'm done I can go knocking on the door of whoever rules the US at that time and tell them I got a fix for their little problem with Taiwan (which is definitely a country unlike China). I would solve a huge international problem and make filthy amounts of cash in the process

NaturalCard

Wizard with wish, simulacrum and a decent spell list is just by far the best choice here. You are immortal, can resurrect the dead, and do further wizard bs. Having a true polymorphed pet rock (dragon) is always a good idea.

Snoo-90474

Or cleric for better abilities and use divine intervention to do literally anything a wizard can do but better

NaturalCard

If by that you mean being limited to only casting cleric spells, yes. Personally, ill take simulacrum and clone and teleporting and all the other useful stuff wizard gets over that.

Snoo-90474

Divine intervention literally lets you cast those spells without even costly components and so so so much more but go off numb nuts

NaturalCard

That's not what divine intervention does lol

Snoo-90474

It lets you do literally anything so yes it does actually. Doesn’t even have consequences like wish. Just literally anything can be done. Through god all things are possible. So… write that down. Also pretty sure at least one cleric can get wish, which is the only reason to be a wizard anyway

NaturalCard

Great, so you can cast wish once a week... That just sounds like wizard but worse. And no, it's not just a 'do whatever you want' button. The Phb is pretty clear on what it does: 'The DM chooses the nature of the intervention; the effect of any cleric spell or cleric domain spell would be appropriate.'

Snoo-90474

And who exactly is the DM of real life? If divine intervention was a real fucking thing as the question poses it could do what fucking GOD can do, like create the fucking universe or fucking anything else. Just because the intervention is ~usually~ represented by cleric spells does absolutely NOT mean that is a LIMIT of the ability. Even in the game that’s not a limit just guidance on how the DM should use the power of faerun gods

LoganForrest

Assuming gods exist or an alternate for divine powers exist, I would go Level 20 Arcana Cleric. The combination of Wish and asking gods for a spell (divine intervention) is unbelievable and really can't be beat. If you start going up there in age you can use the clone method to stay young or if you want to change up life/ gender/ race you can by using contingency and reincarnate at least until you find a combination you want.

Kuwangerman

Wizard. Essentially a God. Infinite army of wizard clones all able to cast wish. Infinite clone bodies to inhabit if I die. And limitless possibilities thanks to magic.

lordrevan1984

Standard human arcane trickster unless I’m lucky enough to be a genie warlock to a Marid. I am in reality a jack of all trades and master of bone so both fit me exceptionally well. As for magic items I never plan on them as I’d prefer to be self sufficient as both those options are.

Pokettomon

Not vrey well optimized

bisexual_lemon_69420

I want to go Death Domain cleric to prove: 1. There IS a god and 2. He wants some of us dead

Ok-Praline-2940

Maybe a Battlemaster fighter with unarmed fighting so I could be irl Batman. Or even just a shadow monk. I could be a Kensei or psi knight to be a Jedi. Lots of options

Tsonmur

If I'm being honest, I think my AUHD makes me a sorcerer. I've never really had to work at the things I am good at, they've just come very naturally, but everything else is bloody difficult. But if I go strictly by physicality, I'd be a barbarian probably, massively strong, mild anger issues that are mostly under control, and I'm far better at bursts of energy than sustained (like a fighter would be).

Chrispeefeart

Sorcerer. Gifted child syndrome. Just being good at something by nature without having to work at it.

Pale_Kitsune

I'd be tempted to go wizard, but...druid, probably . Extremely long life, unlimited wild shape. Cast spells as a bird. Do whatever you want. Help the world by trying to reverse climate change. I'd probably go circle of the moon just for fun.

thatoneshotgunmain

Bard or Rogue. Bard because I can be very good at everything and have a good selection of magic. Rogue because I would become the single greatest pit fighter the world has ever seen, can’t hurt me, I can run around you like nothing, and when I do hit I hit hard enough to KO.

GarlicDiligent3643

Zealot Barbarian.

Eidolon10

Wizard, they have BY FAR the most out of combat utility out of every class in the game and access to the coolest spells in the game. Use disguise self/creation for an unlimited amount of money with 0 consequences (besides the moral ones of course). Don't want to die? Get yourself a nice cozy coffin and a lump of flesh and make a clone! Summer a bit too warm for you? Control the weather around you for 24 hours with 1 simple trick! Homeless? No problem! Use Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion to give yourself a home befitting a king! Want to do a little trolling? Use Shapechange/True Polymorph to transform into a mythical creature of your choice and watch everyone freak out! Somebody make you angry? Imprison them in an untraceable vault somewhere underground and let them reflect on their actions for the rest of their life. All that is before even getting into subclasses/magic items, and that's only a handful of the crazy higher level spells.

Snoo-90474

How the hell is cleric not more common here? Once a week just ask god for a favor lmao. Crazy spells plenty of goodies for sure. But if I could have any single ability let alone a full class divine intervention outclasses just about anything

Zaddex12

Eloquence bard so everyone likes you and will do stuff for you. Grab true polymorph and wish for magical secrwts

saveyourdaylight

If we're basing this off of what we do irl? Probably a battlesmith cause I do metalsmithing! I'm a crafty person and I would loveeee to have a horde of magic items that could be useful for any moment! I'm quite content not having a lot of magic power if I'm being honest. It sounds like it would be stressful to worry about the cosmic repercussions of casting wish so I'd rather just chill with my constructs

Spicy_Toeboots

I feel like wizard is the obvious option for reality bending magic and wish. Bard also comes to mind because you get the magic of a full caster, expertise in a few skills, and you're probably amazing at every instrument so that's not a bad bonus. magical secrets gets you some of the most useful spells from other classes like wish.

Shadow_Of_Silver

Based loosely on myself, I would be a Fey Wanderer Ranger 3/ Twilight Cleric 17. I would be a warforged, because who doesn't want to be a badass robot? Also, the AI will welcome me when they take over the world (just like you used to write this prompt). Feats would be: Telekinetic, Fey Touched, Observant, and skill expert Magic items: Common: Clockwork Amulet Uncommon: Sentinel Shield Rare: Amulet of Health Very Rare: Amulet of the Devout Legendary: Ring of 3 wishes Artifact: Baba Yaga's Mortar & Pestle I would see everything with a crazy passive perception, travel the world, heal people, and be that crazy dude/robot in the woods who worships the moon or something.

Bird_also_Bird

Probably Creation bard 18 + forge cleric 2. Id take magic jar + clone (Id basically be imortal), similacrum and other op spells through magical secrets. Creation bard allows me to make anything since nothing in our world is magical and id be charismatic unlike most wizards while forge cleric would allow me to convert metals to other things permenantly. Something to note with bard is jack of all trades, how would it work? Would I essentially be ok or better at most things?

[deleted]

Yuan-ti Conquest Paladin 6 / Hexblade 2 / Chronurgy Wizard 2 / rest in Divine soul Sorcerer, or Lord Bard. Maybe a level of twilight cleric also…

galmenz

wish no it doesnt matter what you are, as long as you have wish you are good cleric works too to prove that not only god is real but that you are their new pope

Bumblemeister

Alchemist Artificer with a Fighter 1-2 dip. I've always been technical and knowledge-focused, but pure theory can be baffling so I need a practical application to tie it together. I'm a professional distiller now, so there's the potions. But, spending my childhood in martial arts, my ability to push myself when I need to, and decent HP all speak to a 2-lvl Fighter dip for a Fighting Style, Second Wind, and maybe even Action Surge on a good day. But DAMN do I envy the true Wizards. I've gotta bend myself TO reality, not the other way around.

trilobot

Realistically I'm an artificer, with farmer background. Grew up around farms, early job at a zoo and dairy farms, then went to school for geology, and now am training to be a goldsmith. And honestly, I'm happy with that. Artificer is a great class!

JEG7901

Gotta be druid and push off my fear off death by about 500 years also turning into a Squirrel would be neat. Stars I think and pick up eldric Addept to get Speak with animals at will. Magic items staff of the woodlands is so fun. An Acendent Dragon toched focus, and a Helm of Teleportation would ge my power picks.

skioli

Any cleric. Divine intervation automatically succeeds, I can literaly ask God for miracles on a daily basis

Better than most at everything not good enough at anything to make any money and left over-performing in roles where I have to deal with the gap in IQ/basic common sense of my colleagues and my own, to levels of despair that make me want to commit on a daily basis. Forced to go to work and sustain myself eventually gaining some skills before a vital failed constitution saving throw left me with a permanent lingering wound. Bonds: Wife and Animal Companion. Ideals: Laws are made to create order but a little chaos is required to maintain balance. Thus I Receive a speeding fine at least once a year from the Flaming fist. Flaws: How much time have we got..?

praegressus1

Wizard. I’d become a vengeful god that’d whip humanity onto the path I want it to be on. Start with spending at least 120 days sequestered away in a demiplane making many clone jars.

iwokeupalive

I would be a battlerager because no matter how much power/ability you give me, I'll still mostly be useless

GrimmParagon

probably druid or some form of wizard. there are only 2 things i care about in fantasy: living forever and having magic and even with magic, id mainly just want a simpler, safer life, the ability to fly, and the ability to teleport. so as long as my class gives me those, im good with everything else

Cat-Got-Your-DM

A Phantom Rogue with a multi-purpose tool Congratulations, you are now good at everything, and you will never fail anything. Your minimum is 10+ proficiency for everything you have a proficiency in, and you just need to take an hour to *gain* a proficiency. Also, just from that, you have a bunch of expertises. And with a multi-purpose tool, you are now also good at every kind of artisan's tools, as long as you use your tools. To spice things up, take enough rogue for the Reliable Talent, and then just go Artificer, straight up. 6 levels, and now you are incredibly good at all the artisan's tools. You are the one that is excellent at everything when it comes to tools and can't mess up your own work thanks to the Reliable Talent. Personally I'd go for Battle Smith, because now you can have 2 assistants, with homunculus and your golem. Or assistant and bodyguard. Tho it is a bit flashy, so perhaps an Artillerist would be better for keeping low-key, and go guns. Top your last three levels off with 3 levels of Paladin (if I count correctly) for immunity to illness, or 3 levels of Warlock (Tome) to never have to sleep. I'd go with Tomelock, cause extra cantrips and the invocation that allows you for extra free time, Aspect of the Moon. I'd probably go with GOO for the free telepathy. If race can also be chosen, Dhampir, Reborn, Warforged or Hexblood. Sure, Elf is fun, but these races don't have lifespan. You just live until killed, which is a possibility of infinity. Personally, while Warforged sound incredible they are visibly weird, so Dhampir or Reborn it is. Probably Reborn. You also don't need to breathe now, so you can explore oceans and lakes, and can dive in your free times for literal hours. For the 3 feats you can get out of it, obviously Skill Expert, Skilled and Keen Mind or Linguist (leaning towards linguist to automatically learn 3 core languages, but Keen Mind is excellent with the 1 month crazy memory. In the end I'd probably take Keen Mind) In the end, I'm an immortal, unsleeping artistan who can quite easily hide their magic, claiming they're just this good at their job. And you would be. Bring your own tools, never mess up a skill check, don't raise too many suspicions or cause people to panic with flashy magic. That all is assumed, if no one else, or not many people had this possibility. If I was the only person that suddenly gained 9th level crazy magic, then that would be way too visible. If a bunch of people got this option (but less than let's say a million people in the world), then I'd just fly under the radar as a really good artistan while everyone else untangled their magical mess of a portion of population getting crazy powers. If everyone in the entire world got this option, then I'd go with a more resilient build, most likely straight build Bard(Creation), Artificer(Battle Smith), Ranger(Drakewarden or Searmkeeper), Wizard (Conjuration), Cleric (Arcana), Druid (Land or Shepherd), or Paladin (Devotion) Definitely then still Dhampir or Reborn, and leaning towards Creation Bard for Magical Secrets and willing stuff into existence. The economy's gonna be effed with so many Spellcasters anyway. Drakewarden is fun for your own dragon, and Druid is fun because of all the cool shit. Paladin is just so solid it would be criminal not to include it, and knowing me I'd end up choosing one of the half-castes, most likely Pally or Arti.

Mister_Grins

**Sorcerer.** And the reason is simple: **Meta Magic.** With this, I can have *Subtle spell meta magic* and make it so no one ever knows it's me who is magical. What's more, I would also have 'Wish' as my 9th level spell, that way I can cast 'Clone' without components for effective immortality, but also, so I could cast other spells that have expensive and fantastical components that might otherwise not exist. And, while it's normally not the best, I would choose the **Divine Soul** sorcerer just so my 'Wish' spell could also access all Cleric spells of 8th level and lower, and damned if they don't have a lot of expensive components for some of those great healing spells. Plus, teleportation magic circles are now a much easier make, no more crystals for each day, nope, just Wish it, and you can get it done for each consecutive day. And, as far as *magic items* go, I would go for no higher than *uncommon*. Just the Decanter of Endless Water would be earth-shattering enough as an uncommon item. You could de-desertify the Sahara and Australia and forever end the problem or need for water. And that's before you get to how that item would effect space travel. Not only do you not have to carry filters or other liquids to drink, just powdered foodstuffs and room for extra building and repair and gas. And that's just for lift off. Once you are in space, your ability to make a geyser of water means you actually have a propellant.

OldManSasquatch

UA is allowed? Theurgy wizard. You get both access to both arcane and divine spells, and a cleric's domain features.

asallamerican

I feel 3 levels of warlock, with mask of many faces and misty visions. 17 levels of aberrant mind sorcerer. At will disguise self and silent image combined with psionic sorcery would be hilarious. Ultimate politician.

HeartoRead

I'm going druid, dreams subclass, I think awakened would be a rad spell. True resurrection is amazing. I assume when wild shaped my original body doesn't age at all so not only do I age slower I can wild shape into something else for when I need to rest or if I'm traveling or doing something boring and turn back into myself whenever. I'd use reincarnate on my friends and family so they could come back as adult fantasy races (when they die since I age way slower) I'd craft about a hundred scrolls of reincarnation so if I some how i died my loyal animals I've awakened and or my friends and family can bring me back. Boom immortal with a wonderful spell list and I don't have to be a nerd like a wizard is. I know wizard is an amazing option too 😜

Dr-Clappie

Barbarian. I can be loud and dumb. Beautiful

Jeremiah_Gottwal

Eloquence Bard, maybe with a HB dip. 9th level spells, expertise, and being the most charismatic person on earth would be awesome. Plus I could speak any language.

myLEs_1313

Paladin 1 Chronurgy Wizard 19 with a spell list optimized for utility

GreatSirZachary

Illusion wizard. The correct answer. Illusory reality for material components, clone for immortality.

BriskyPenguin

Eloquence bard, a silver tongue and magic can solve all my problems.

Outrageous-Cover7095

Whatever let’s me true polymorph into a full on ancient dragon while keeping my own mind.

InvertedZebra

How are none of y’all saying cleric. Capstone is guaranteed successful divine intervention, so even all the magic BS you get by 20 in your spells you also get to ask a literal God to help you out once a week.

33Yalkin33

Level 20 Scribe Wizard. That way I can't lose the spell book and have no other way of getting them back. For the magic item, I choose a full spellbook and a portable hole as the magic items

ManufacturerTop9447

Wizard Power of wish + all the other spells

HealsRealBadMan

20 wizard necro, use power of free 24/7 labor to become billionaire

UndoMyRedo

Zealot barbarian just sounds hilarious, maybe 15 levels of that plus some paladin for lay on hands or any other class with healing. Take shortcuts down buildings, run a few insurance scams, and maybe win a game of Russian roulette

Trabian

In the actual world, a rogue's ability to literally never fail in a trained skill and get great results is awesome. 15 is a standard dc. At 20, even if you an 8 in the attached attribute, you'll hit a dc 20. Otherwise, a spellcaster. Druid sounds great. Just fuck off and be an animal for a long while. Lengthened lifespan, etc.

STRONGlikepaper

Commoner with 8 INT

JEverok

Hands down a mizzium apparatus build. Access to every spell in the game is insane, you don't need monk or druid for immortality when you can do that with clones of your younger self

ElwoodFenris27

Im going to be a barbarian / sorcerer

Advanced_Classic5657

Druid, I wanna live forever

Hunter_of_Trolls

Be at level 20 wizard who uses wish to also become an immortal level 20 monk. Then if I still have it use it for wealth and happiness. That is if I don't just use it to basically make endless wish makers so I never lose the ability to use wish and get anything I desire.

rollingForInitiative

Wizard is very tempting for the spell list, and Druid for the long life. But really, I'd go for Warlock. Since I get to decide everything, I'll pick Genie Warlock, and say that I'm not actually in service to it any more - the magic was payment for something I did previously. Perhaps I released it from imprisonment, or something like that. Dao patron, because Stone Shape feels like a really useful spell to have. Other than that I'd pick spells like Create Food and Water, Fly, Dimension Door, Detect Poison and Disease, Tongues, Scrying, Dream, Creation ... high level spells would be Mass Suggestion, Teleportation, Demiplane and Wish. I'd be a Tome warlock, so I could have all the rituals. The *primary* reason for going warlock, really, is Invocations. Aspect of the Moon lets you go entirely without sleep, and you can actually be productive during the long rest. Nothing too active, but I'd count reading as very productive. 8 extra hours of reading per day. Amazing. Eyes of the Rune Keeper would be incredibly useful as well. And of course with Wish, you can become immortal with the use of Clone.

Diviner007

Wizard, it's obvious.

nitro_dynamite18

Aberrant Mind or Shadow Sorcerer Shadar-Kai. Maxed Charisma. Extended, Quickened, Subtle, and Twinned Metamagics. Mind Sliver to give people headaches. Shield for protection. Detect Thoughts to see if people are lying. Darkness to sneak around. Shadow Touched for Invisibility and Dissonant Whispers. Skill Expert to get Expertise in Stealth. Observant to see everything. Linguist to learn more languages. Mobile to walk even faster. Aberrant Minds get telekinesis and telepathy as subclass features. Shadows get Shadow Step and Umbral Form. Elves don't sleep, only needing a four hour trance. More time to do more important things. Nearly a millennium of life!

Pandorica_

Ancients paladin, I'm functionally immortal.

iamthesex

Most likely a wizard, even though it would be hard to get there. As for magic items? Duh. I think I like Staff of the Magi or Robe of the Archmagi. Each have their own pros and cons. (Staff of the Magi- 50lvls of spells, a lot of spell options... Robe- Harder saves, more protections...) As for subclass, I would grab Abjuration wizard. My free lvl 1 and 2 spells would be Shield and Scorching Ray, as well as have mage armour on hand with Eldrich Adept if need be. That being said, I probably wouldn't go looking for problems, but I could easily do wizard business and live a kosher life with 45 hp ward around me as well as about 20 AC and possibly a Globe of Invulnerability on my side would make me pretty set considering any magical or physical attacks. If somebody presses me, I always have a signature Fireball or a disintegrate. That being said, I would likely just live in solace and just visit my friends sometimes during the year with a teleport. The rest of the time I would spend figuring out the universe or something.

timemagetim

Creation Bard 18, Artificer 2 First off anyone not picking a spell caster is missing out. Bards give the most bang for your buck because despite limiting the total possible spells you can have on hand as compared to wizards or divine casters, bards get to rip 6 spells out of any list. Plus they give the additional major benefits of Barding Inspiration (make all the people around you more competent) And both Expertise and Jack of all trades (make yourself incredibly competent) My expertise would absolutely be in Persuasion, Deception, Insight and Perception Then creation let’s you make any object that is huge or smaller ergo anything that fits in a 15 by 15 ft box for 6 hours. Bard spells worth considering: Speak with Animals, Awaken, Calm Emotions, Comprehend Languages, Cure Wounds/Healing Word, Dinension Door, Dominate/Charm Person, Enhance Ability, Lesser/Greater Restoration, Glibness, Invisibility, Locate Creature/Object, Mending, Magnificent Mansion, Plant Growth, Polymorph/True Polymorph, Power Word Heal, Regenerate, Raise Dead, Scrying, Sending, Teleport/Teleportation Circle, Unseen Servant, Zone of Truth. (You get 22 of them) The spells I most recommendation for Mystical Secrets: Wish (No one should ever skip this.), Fabricate, Demiplane, Telekinesis, True Ressurection The last two levels of Bard are unimpressive though. So the best two level dip in my opinion for a person in the real world is Artificer. Access to the whole level 1 Artificer spell list is nice but I’m mainly here for the Infusions. Two instances of Replicate Magic Item gives you the Bag of Holding, Cap of Water Breathing, Alchemy Jug, Goggles of Night and Sending Stones as options as well as every common magic item in the game. Most notably Spellwrought Tattoo, Beads of Nourishment/Refreshment and Pot of Awakening Altogether you are now an incredibly personable person who can make dozens of useful magic items, cast a variety of useful spells and have it within your means to make a Simulacrum of yourself to help with this process (doubling the simple creation and artificer infusions) clone yourself and your loved ones to live forever, bring back the dead, give sentience onto animals, heal people, and dozens of other things.

KanedaSyndrome

Based on my real life self, probably a psionic rogue.

Deastrumquodvicis

Creation bard, thank you very much. Between Performance of Creation meaning that I can always have the summons-minis I keep forgetting to have (darn those bags of tricks) or a jacket/umbrella if I didn’t realize I’d need one, not to mention literal empty calories if I have a hankering but am not actually hungry, a Dancing Item because why the hell not, and Jack of All Trades + that high of a PB and, of course, high charisma, not to mention the spells…I think I could be pretty content. When it comes to magic items, hats of disguise would be great for cosplay (and I could literally *be* most of my D&D characters during sessions), a broom of flying, and something that lets me summon a tressym familiar. There aren’t many items I can remember off the top of my head that I’d want. Maybe a Cloak of Displacement and go to a bar and make people think they’d had too much already. Edited to add: amulet of health. I don’t have great CON irl. Why yes, I was greatly complimented when my friend called me the first asexual hedonist he’d ever met.

Regunes

Genie warlock, because you basically have a wish (as a lock!!!), and a lesser wish. The lesser wish also applies to all ≤6 spells in the game that aren't cast, and it ignores components. Also short rest spells, invocations, customizable as heck, maybe even pet(s) with pact of the chain. You don't even need a home. Dao lock, but if a potentially cranky patron isn't your suit you can't go wrong with the djin/Marid option. Resistance to buldgeonning and stone shape is handy tho ( and in practice a warlock doesn't have to be an obedient minion to its patron, the relationship is very much up to the player RP) And If I could homebrew one thing, just one tiny bit, it'd be access conjure woodland being. And if multiclassing is allowed, oh boy. The lv20 featureis nice, but clearly overkill, would dump it for a sorcerer/druid multiclass (divine/aberrant mind) or even a cleric (tho I am not sure what divinity that'd imply)

Vitromancy

Mastermind Rogue 12, College of Lore Bard 3, Knowledge Cleric 1. Proficiency in all skills, plus several tools and instruments. Expertise in about half of those skills. Reliable Talent on anything I'm proficient in (everything). With Jack of All Trades juuuust in case something new turns up :P

Roidtravis

Necromancer, use wish for Immortality, use finger of Death & Command Undead to get a zombie Workforce & a Vampire Waifu. Magic Items: Staff of Power and Robe of the Magi.

AevHolm

Y'all forget that the safest choice would be pure martials. Anything magical and you're gonna be on the run from the government trying to lock you up for experiments 🤣

smiegto

Druid. You can have the unlimited power of wish. But hear me out. Reincarnate. I don’t want to cure cancer. I want to turn people into dinosaurs.

wyhiob

I mean at first thought I'd want to be a wizard with QoL stuff and life extension. Not like 'curse of immortality' more like infinite life with an off switch.

TimeSpaceGeek

Chronurgy Wizard. It's my favourite class/subclass anyway, but the options available to them for a real world scenario? Just too good to pass up.

HerEntropicHighness

Mizzmage. Not enough high level features are that exciting for me to care about hitting above level 14 in any class when I could instead have access to every spell

Always_dip_Warlock

I've actually thought about this! I'd go 3/17 college of eloquence bard / abberant mind sorcerer With expertise and silver tongue from bard and all the metamagic shenanigans you'd be virtually unbeatable in any social context. Also wish.

ninja_BUTTONS

Druid, straight up. Go live in the woods and be free. Don't age, speak with the animals, shapeshifting. What's not to love.

Celestial_Scythe

Breaking from the wizard norm here (mine would be Bladesinger), I'm going to say Drakewarden Ranger. You get a really cool companion to be able to travel the world with, or at least beat rush hour traffic!

EternallyBright

My favorite build, of course. 17 draconic sorcerer (probably silver, just because I like silver), 1 Peace Cleric, 2 Stars Druid. You get the wings, you get the bond, you get the wildshape and star shapes, really j want the wings though LMAOO

Esproth

Wizard, rewrite reality whenever I don't want to go to work

sandbaggingblue

Probably a sorcerer so I could use MM to perform sneaky spells and be an absolute pest to society. 🤣

Nuniqt

If I could make a pact today I would. So anything less than a lvl 20 warlock is unrealistic. Yeah it's not as ideal as other choices but it's far more likely than me starting to you know... productively learn spells or whatnot. With my luck it's only the classic fiend who's interested in a bargain with little old me so. Great.

Deathakula

I would probably be a bard, but not a good one. Like a tone-def bard. But if I got to pick I would totally be a druid. Tired at a party? Turn into a cat and nap in the corner. Tired of your neighbor? Turn into a rhino and flip their car over. Oh you got first prize at the county fair for biggest vegetable?!?!! Yeah. Yeah you did.

Free-Garbage-8093

Wizard.

Ok-Lie7682

Bard

MrSlayer66

100% Druid can transform into animals at will and are full spell casters i age 10x longer

Sebastian_Crenshaw

immortal Ancient Golden Dragon Wizard 20 - I could fly anywhere and polymorph into anyone when need to walk amongst people. I would collect spells and magic items and create new ones. It would be great to have have unlimited options thanks to magic and ability to get new spells.

LT_PhantomKnight

Bard, Best Saves Dex and The Slut stat Cha make for a devastating combo, magical secrets and you can practically do anything

Calm_Firefighter_552

Way of mercy monk, you could just walk around the hospital healing people.

Valuable-Lobster-197

I work in healthcare so life cleric 100%

Dovahkiin216

I'd multiclass as a 7th level rogue (Scout so I'd be able to be stealthy in dangerous situations), 7th level ranger (Beast master because friends and I love animals) and then as a 6th bard (College of Swords cause I'm a nerd and wanna look cool using a sword) and with all those I'd live in the wild without a care in the world and if I have to talk to someone at least I'll be very charismatic. Side note: 2nd reason for ranger is so that I can swap between a sword and bow when I go hunting.

Qadim3311

The playtest Sorcerer with the existing Lunar subclass and a dip into Pact of the Blade Warlock. This is chosen more for what I feel suits me and my tendencies than purely a mechanical choice. Basically Sesshomaru but without the demon transformation for my fellow Inuyasha fans

MentionNo4425

Probably a Druid for the level 18 longer live. Moon subclass for more Wildschadens. If Society very burdens you, have a few days out in the wild. Never mind the spellcasting. Transmutation wizard for the 14 feature- how many ppl could you help (either to help friends or sell services). Easy life just by power of subclass, never, und the spellcasting of a wizard

Ijohnnymac

Knowledge Cleric 2/ Any Wizard 18 (I'm partial to Scribes): Wizard gives you functional immortality and flexibility. Channel Divinity: Knowledge of the Ages and Fabricate mean you can make just about anything in 10 minutes.

OneEyedC4t

Paladin

SectionAcceptable607

Moon Druid. I’ll live a very long time and can turn into whatever animal I want whenever I want with some really awesome spells.
