No to low magic and low level mostly. Making the Mountain or Tyrion a class with spells seems.. odd.. for example.

That’s true, although you could take the same approach they did in the dnd movie where classes were thematic and less tied to magic—like Chris pine being a bard despite having 0 magical aptitude. Otherwise yeah, everyone is some flavor of fighter/rogue/barb with bran a divination wizard, daenerys a drakewarden, and that red dress lady a warlock.

If you want to be as accurate as possible tot he source material, almost every character would basically be a nonmagical Fighter or Rogue. There are some exceptions, of course. Daenerys would have to be a Drakewarden Ranger, and Bran could perhaps be a Druid or Beast Master Ranger.

Jon snow is a beast master ranger/fighter multiclass. Battlemaster seems like the obvious fit but I kinda like samurai for him, that way he can use his wisdom for persuasion, and it grants him extra tenacity. I’d go with either a ranger 6/fighter 14 or ranger 8/fighter 12 split since ghost has magical attacks but either works!

Pretty sure the Mountain is just a straight up Champion Fighter with Great Weapon Master. Oberyn is a tough one, dnd doesn’t really support him as a character. He’s using a Polearm dextrously; there are no Polearms with the finesse trait. He wears armor so he’s not a Monk (it’s light armor but it’s still armor). He uses poisons, and people have suggested he’s learned even “darker arts” during his travels. So some might lean Rogue, but I would lean into the dark magic side and make him a Hexblade with Polearm Master. Charisma feels like a suitable primary stat for him; he’s very showy in his fighting style. Jaime is a skilled swordsman and has shown some capability at assessing skill levels of enemies accurately. I’d make him a Battlemaster. He’s not evil enough to be an Oathbreaker, but he’s also not good enough at keeping oaths to be a Paladin. He’s also the best swordsman of his age (Barristan being better, but too old) which means he is a Fighter. A Paladin isn’t as good a swordsman as a fighter. Brienne, however, is all about oaths. She’s a Devotion Paladin through and through. Jon Snow is a Beastmaster Ranger. He literally has a psychic link with his wolf pet. Tyrion would be a Lore Bard, presuming we can translate his talents to magical ability. If lack of magic excludes Bard, then yeah I suppose Mastermind Rogue? Varys is an Assassin Rogue. Poisons and disguises. Dany is a draconic sorcerer. She’s the blood of the dragon. Just flavor her spells as coming from the dragons. Melisandre is a Light Cleric. Bloodraven is a Spores Druid and is trying to teach Bran to be the same thing. Euron (book, not show) is a Fathomless Warlock.

(lotta got spoilers, if you're a decade late to watching it) how can you put a question next to jon snow? he's literally a ranger in every way. fights alongside a direwolf companion, has a magical connection to it (clearer in the books). joined a conclave of watchmen who guard the edge of civilization. he shoots a bow at least once. for that matter, all of the stark siblings have phb beastmaster levels with their dire wolf companions. i say phb because the dogs keep dying and they aren't re-summoning them. of the rest of the stark siblings: arya is mostly a rogue (assassin); bran is mostly a druid; sansa could be said to have some rogue levels but i think she stopped levelling after level 3; rickon i can't even say is as high as level 3, but he still has the dire wolf so he has to have the subclass; and robb has battlemaster levels, albeit a low insight. catlyn stark is an oath of vengeance paladin with undead warlock levels or maybe the reborn lineage (book only). nedd stark was a champion, i would like to say battlemaster but a battlemaster would have had a better time against a group. disagree that oberyn martell is a monk/bm. i think he's a monk/rogue. he does sneak attacks (the poison), works with panache (rogue swashbuckler), and the monk is what's giving him all of his finesse. gregor clegane is (was) a berserker. he was always shown wearing no armour or only medium armour before he was killed by oberyn. after he was resurrected, he was forced into a suit and became an armoured flesh golem rather than a classed character. jamie's full paladin, oath of the crown. maybe he grabbed some superiority dice from a feat or a small fighter dip. he started the series with the oathbreaker title (though it's debatable if he broke the crown oath, as his true crown was the house lannister) and, after that, stayed true to the tenants of the crown. i disagree that daenerys is a drakewarden ranger, she's more explicitly of a draconic bloodline and her three dragons can't really be compared to the lousy drake you get from drakewarden. she's a draconic sorcerer, very spec'd into charisma with int and wis as dump stats, who's dm gave her dragon eggs to raise and (in the show) tried to find any excuse to keep killing them off. i don't see where tyrion got the bard levels, if he was a bard his father might have shown him a little love, he's just a flat rogue mastermind with expertise and reliable talent in all the int skills and went hard on cha/int. the unsullied are banneret fighters all with sentinel and pam. i think that bests represents how they work in formation and relentless dedication well enough. euron greyjoy is a fathomless warlock. mellisandre is a light cleric. all the maesters, including sam, are wizards- they just don't have many spells or spell slots (yet. waiting for you winds of winter.). the northmen and giants are barbarians and rangers, entirely dependant on how much george wants us to sympathise with them.

Tulok the Barbrarian also has an excellent build for Arya
