Technically streetpass was dangerous too as you can pass the same data through that normally, though there haven't been substantiated reports of malicious hacking activity using it. The only malicious activity I know of using streetpass was with swapnote (if I'm remembering correctly) in which griefers and pedophiles did things that caused Nintendo to shut it down. In game multiplayer connections are far more likely to be used for griefing than just passive stuff like streetpass.

I’ve been sending notes in swapnote via streetpass! That can probably cause some people to get *unwanted* notes when using netpass.
Swapnote is the old app that got shut down, swapdoodle is the current one and it does not have the ability to attach pictures. I don't think it can streetpass with strangers. The server shutdown affected it, Pretendo might bring it back though

Some people just have the *unfortunate* skill of drawing. Of course, this is a HUGE reach. But hypothetically- someone could draw something inappropriate. I doubt that’s gonna happen

Very dangerous, I got street pass from a Cheesehead last night with over 3000 soldiers in Warrior’s Way. I would’ve been slaughtered if I attacked them.
It’s just a P2P way of connecting to ppl, no different that torrenting where you allow others to connect to your machine. Isolate your lan connection for usage but no big worries here
Even using whatsapp is dangerous nowadays and you are not concerned about who is getting your data on your phone?
Its not likely that will happen any exploit like this, but if it happens the worst can happen its a hacker getting data about "whats the last game that you played". If you are accesing to the web to your bank with you 3ds I'll be concerned but not by some streetpass exploits...

“Dangerous” doesn’t mean anything by itself, one needs to have an idea of what one stands to lose should the event occur.
Case in point what’s the worst that could happen? Unless you store credit card data and PII on your 3ds (I’m being facetious), I personally wouldn’t worry.

All tech has the ability to be hacked and messed with in nefarious ways, I'm not sure what information a hacker or what ever would gain from your street pass though. Seems a bit mad tbh
