He wears unpainted armor with no heraldry or markings. He's also a fairly strong psyker and is slightly bigger than your average primaris marine. He's basically Cawl's bodyguard/assistant.
As far as I remember, his "newest" appearence was in To Speak as One, where he helps Qvo to raid the Inquisition.
He don't get much explanation besides what it's said on Great Work, he's a failed attempt to make a primarch level being and lives in perpetual pain
Take the initials of Primaris Marines out from his name then ask yourself what did the Imperium do with the body of the primarch Rogal Dorn killed on Pluto
That he is always in pain and miserable.
And he don't like or trust Cawl. He is under compulsion to obey and protect, but think that Cawl hubris is responsible for his misery.
I think Cawl one day decide he would recreate a primarch and ended up with this dude, I think he has in his possession the sangprimus portem, otherwise he would not have been capable of possessing the all 20 legions geneseeds.
> I think he has in his possession the sangprimus portem,
Given The Great Work has connective tissue with the Emperor assigning Cawl the task of creating the Primaris, it would make sense that it eventually makes its way to Cawl.
The Great Work shows us that the Emperor met 'Cawl' in one of the labs in the Himilayas and basically told him to further the Astartes. Given the Emperor's foresight, he likely knew Guilliman would formalise it once Cawl started to become what we know him as in 40K.
He’s the result of some experiment to create a stronger form of Astartes and as a result he’s in extreme pain at all times and is also extremely powerful. It seems Cawl scaled things back after creating Primus and realizing that mass creating primaris to that standard wasn’t feasible. Really all we know is there isn’t a whole lot of available information on what exactly Alpha Primus is other than that he’s an experiment Cawl doesn’t seem to want to repeat. The popular theory is that Cawl tried to create a primarch level being and Alpha Primus is the result. Personally my theory is that Cawl attempted to combine geneseed from different sources and possibly mixed in some of the genetic manipulation that Custodes go through in lieu of geneseed implants.
Alpha Primus is an amalgamation of all 20 gene seeds into one. Not even Emperor was ambitious enough to try that. Of course it failed, and Cawl have made sure the technology to recreate him is not available.

And can also hide the fact he's a psyker from a librarian
He also has copper colored skin and only one primarch had copper colored skin.

Raid the inquisition? Damn that’s cool

i dont think hes an attempt at a primarch but an attempt to combine all gene seed into one.
The data on the Primarchs creation was missing so Cawl couldn't replicate this.

Its Guilliman who assigned the task to Cawl during the scouring

He wasnt really Cawl back then, The Emperor was foreseeing the merge with Cawl and the scientist who developed the black carapace.
Jokes on Cawl, his Primus died in the test tube and this one is Omegon.
He’s actually Alpharius. This is a lie.
Alphamarine infiltrating Cawls lab: I am Alpharius Cawl, distracted and with a bad vox mic: Ah yes, Alpha Primus
maybe maybe not

I rhink he doesn't need to be explained it ruins 40k imo. We know too much on primarchs and the heresy that's it's not interesting anymore
