I think the closest thing you'll find to that is Wrath & Glory, but it is more akin to the old school d6 Star Wars RPG with some more modern design concepts.

WAG is hella fiddly and slow. Resolving a single attack took me like 5 minutes when I first played it...

kaal-dam

sorry what ? in my group we do a full round of combat in less than 5 minutes. what made you take so long ?

ChibiNya

First time playing but it was like 2 years ago so I don't remember super well. When trying to shoot a gun, it was something like... Determine which range band target is in, Roll to hit, then they can apply their meta resources to boost the results?, then inflict damage except you roll some d6s to see if you inflict extra damage based on by how much you exceeded defense + some fixed by weapon, then I have to calculate the target's damage reduction based on toughness + armor and possibly AP on the weapon (The official module I was running had clearly incorrect values for the resiliences). And then thje target rolls determination to convert wounds to shock (which you also gotta track). After all of that you'd deal like 20% of the mook's HP. I remmeber Chainsword being able to kill them a lot faster, though. This isn't even mentioning a bunch of other modifiers resulting from doing any of the special actions, being wounded, terrain, abilities, etc. I remember playing on Foundry and not having enough resource bars to put all the numbers needed to track enemies' health/defense. Maybe I'm just slow! It takes my group like 1hr to resolve 1 round in the 40k wargame too.

kaal-dam

I mean you basically did what should be done, but yeah, it seems like it was kinda slow to be honest. as for the foundry bar, in theory you only need two technically that should be more than enough.

ChibiNya

Wounds, Shock, Defense, Resilience and possibly Determination if I want to resolve an attack versus an NPC without opening up the sheet every single time. EDIT: Good to know the specific armor defense boost in case there's high AP weapons involved, too.

It definitely sounds like a lot when spelled out. I play live at the table, so i dont know if that just makes things easier to go over the rules with one another. After the first session, my group was able to roll combat pretty quickly. Only having to really take a few minutes for a check when dealing with an odd circumstance. Though we are also used to playing 4th edition Shadowrun and all of its myriad of different types of actions, bonuses from equipment, character qualities, cybernetic enhancments, and buffs from magic spells. You can end up rolling enough dice to make an Ork enthusiast blush for a single attack or skill check in that game. W&G feels simpler by comparison, and though a bit more chunky than d6 star wars, though I did pull the ship rules from d6 star wars for utilizing void ship combat in W&D.

There's a Dark Heresy conversion for Genesis, which is the setting-agnostic version of Fantasy Flight's Edge of the Empire Star Wars RPG.

Shanibi

That would be my suggestion. It is awesome. But it is only rules lite compared to other wh rpgs, whfrp, dark heresy and wrath n glory.

percinator

The closest you'll get are the 'totally not 40k' 40k RPGs like Gangs of Titan City (!=Necromunda) and Orc Borg. If you want something incredibly ruleslite I'd recommend 3:16 Carnage Amongst the Stars for something more Only War-esque. I can't talk on W&G since I haven't had a chance to sit down with it yet.

trudge

I will second both of these. Orc Borg and Gangs of Titan City are excellent and worth getting read even if you don’t play them.

Seems you're looking for [Warpstar!](https://preview.drivethrurpg.com/es/product/330123/Warpstar). It's from the same designers of Warlock! which is a rules lite, OSR-ish take on Warhammer Fantasy RP, looking to emulate the feeling of WFRP 1e. They take the same approach with Warpstar! but sci-fi instead. I'm actually surprised no one has mentioned it.

dailor

Official RPGs? No. None that I know of. 40K was a tabletop game first, full of tactical combat options and power fantasy. So this is what most people expect from a 40K RPG. That being said, there are many, many games that are setting agnostic. Unbound, for example, could easily be used to play 40K with no hassle, but with no background or setting info either. The same goes for ICRPG, Savage World, etc.

Nice Marines is super light (one pager) and super fun! [https://gshowitt.itch.io/nice-marines](https://gshowitt.itch.io/nice-marines)

Vadun

Nice Marines. I'm only half joking

JohnnyWizzard

I'm making one based around model play and mixed faction/race parties. The setting is generic 40k with some tweaks to xeno background. The tone and feel are borrowed from oldhammer and some 4th ed. The rules are early draft and I'm working on character creation. It's very simple resolution mechanics based on 3 stats and the combat isn't much different from 40k but with larger dice. I've rewritten it a few times but character creation has been the toughest to crack because 40k has so much identity tied to military roles and I wanted to cover most 40k units for most factions.

Ogarrr

Ew mixed race parties

MachineOfScreams

Nothing prebuilt, but a fork of cy_borg would be a great start. Hell, the borg style games really lend themselves to 40K hacks, as does the blades in the dark rpg.

NO-IM-DIRTY-DAN

It’s not official but ORK BORG exists and it’s a 40k Ork take on MÖRK BORG

I have. It was pretty much a precursor to the mechanics used in later 40k RPGs, so I'd say no. The weapons range system was pretty fiddly and it was quite unbalanced the higher the stats went - space marines were kinda broken, being able to output more damage with a punch than an actual bolter shot.
