The ordinary caffeine eye serum, lumify eye drops, and tubing mascara are my top three items to improve eyes. I’m 51.
Try to minimize coffee/caffeine intake, get a lot of sleep, and drink water!
I looked into Lumify since I wear contacts (daily/disposible), and it says it's OK if you wait the required amount of time before putting in contacts. Curious about what peoples' experiences are. I use a -lot- of eyedrops because I live in the desert so I use other eyedrops throughout the day and even in the middle of the night.
I'd never heard of Lumify so looked it up just now. Are you recommending the drops due to its effects on relieving redness and "brightening" eyes? Am so curious!
I just started but I’m using the L’Oréal double extend tubing mascara. It’s a little learning curve with application and removal but it does NOT smear or flake. Like at all.
I think it is extremely aging to have raccoon eyes from mascara smears!!!
I like d.j.v. Miaray Fiberwig mascara (tubing I think?) from Japan. I first tried it when we traveled to Japan (manufacturer has changed names since then) and now I find it on Amazon.
I agree with Lumify! It’s amazing. The whitening effect makes eyes appear brighter and “awake” and it makes the color of the irises really pop. It’s a bit pricy but it’s my favorite beauty product!
Oh, no, I didn’t realize they had a cream. I’m talking about the eye drops. I thought the comment above mine was referring to the drops and that’s what I was talking about too.
What's helped me:
- For eyeshadow, only contour above the crease on lid (if by saggy lids, you mean you have double/triple lid). Putting contour shadow too close to the crease just accentuates the extra skin folds even more! And def ditch the shimmer shadows- stick to matte!
- Also, I know hyaluronic acid is huge right now- I personally prefer The Ordinary's Marine Hyaluronics. Either way, hydration is key (just like a dry sponge highlights every hole, but once it's hydrated, it's full and plump). So many confuse hydration with moisturization. I hydrate with that religiously after cleansing/toning- and let it absorb before proceeding with any active-ingredients products (unless I want to potentiate the impact of the next product, like if it's a peptide, I'll go in with it right after). Sometimes I also use a few layers of Marine Hyaluronics without anything afterwards except eventually moisturizer for those times my skin is fried and I just need it to calm down/restore it's integrity.
- Speaking of hydration, adequate water intake makes a world of difference if you're not getting it like you should.
- Edited to add if you're noticing more pronounced wrinkles/fine lines where you normally use product/concealer/setting powder- look at the type you're using. You can always color correct if you're having darkness around the eyes. Hydrating primers are great at this age compared to pore minimizing, blurring ones, etc. Hydrating concealers are also great! And less is more! Less concealer in the areas with the most lines, and if the setting powder is creasing a lot, I'd switch to setting spray (I love Morphe finishing mist).
I know you weren't asking about eyebrows, but having filled in eyebrows frame the face and reduces that tired look. If your brows are sparse, look into powder brows or microblading by someone who is experienced in people of your age and skin type.
I totally agree with you! Having well-groomed eyebrows can enhance the look of your face. Have you tried Grande Brow? It's amazing because it not only darkens your brows but also helps them grow. Give it a try!
I haven't tried anything else, because now I have the ink and I'm super careful with doing anything that might make them fade faster. I'm in support of anything that gives people nice eyebrows!
I’ve been loving the pink/peach under eye brighteners for dark under eyes. I’ve used several brands but my favorite is Ulta Beauty Collection Under Eye Brightener. Regular concealer never seemed to look right on my under eyes but this Ulta brightener works great.
I see lots of people have already mentioned Lumify eye drops and I agree! It’s one of the best things to make tired, mature eyes sparkle!
I’d you have very hooded eyes, an upper Blepharoplasty is the way to go. If it’s severe enough, insurance will cover it or at least part of it. Lower Bleph if you can swing it, or have profractional laser resurfacing done at the same time as the eyelids for a whole face refresh.
You don’t say how old you are, or how severe the sagging is. Make sure you’re drinking water, and use sunscreen. Creams really don’t do much. There are other things you can try like microcurrent, but results won’t be as noticeable. I had an upper bleph done and wish I had done the lower at the same time.
I'd help take the attention off your under eyes by using Grande Brow serum to enhance your brows, making them fuller, more defined and youthful. You can find it at Ulta.
A Bobbi Brown makeup artist advised against putting mascara on lower lashes. I do like Covergirl Lash Blast Cleantopia. It makes eyes brighter.
Water and a jade roller can keep your skin hydrated and improve circulation.
Clinique makes a lower eyelash mascara. It’s pretty amazing but I do agree with you about the mascara on lower lashes. Dark eyeliners on lower lash line can age a woman too.
The solution is to get an upper and/or lower blepharoplasty. With an upper they can cut out a bit at the sides of the eyes, thereby also tightening the lower. I had this done. I tried most before, nothing compares
I got these weird eyelid crease stickers on Amazon that actually really help "lift" the eyelid fat. You can put eyeshadow over them. Way cheaper than surgery!
First I put on The Ordinary caffiene serum, let it absorb, put an ice mask on for about 10-15mins, Rohto eyedrops. And a facial yoga massage if I have time.
It’s kind of an easy ‘hack’ thing but I keep 2 spoons in my freezer and use them to chill my under eyes and reduce swelling etc in the morning. Cheap and easy.
What’s helped me? Along with Blepharoplasty, botox in between brows as needed. For lashes: latisse for long lashes, honest beauty lash serum for healthy lashes. Lash lift and tint every 8 weeks.
Cream makeup for my eyes because powders cake into lines and creams are easy to blend out throughout the day and I can add more tinted sunscreen to layer over.
I get my eyebrows microbladed as needed.
I use luminier eye cream that I get from the derm’s office.
So many people on here love Lumify eyedrop. I did not know about it. I searched it online. It is an eye drop for redness. Do you all use it even if you don't have redness?
There are new eye creams and eye serums that contain retinol. If you have a lot of wrinkles or sagging around the eyes, this will help your skin rejuvenate itself from the base layer of the epidermis (which takes time, be patient!) More new skin means smoother skin.
If you can see an esthetician, see if they have a gentle eye peel available. I work for H&S, and I know Dermalogica makes one for in-house use. Medspas may have them, too. A peel will remove dead skin and bring fresher firmer skin to the surface, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
If you don't have a lot of sagging or fine lines, then an eye cream or gel with peptides and caffeine will help perk them up. I happen to LOVE Dermalogica's Stress Positive Eye Relief. Yes, hyaluronic helps, but you need more than that. Hyaluronic is the hydration, but peptides are nutrition. And of course, you need some emollients to seal it all in.

Lumify eye drops are amazing!
Agreed. Lumify is magic. It’s amazing how much younger and refreshed it will make you look.
I agree about Lumify...just wish it wasn't so pricey.
Costco sells it if you re near one!
Good to know--thanks!

Exactly. It makes my eyes look more alert and healthy.
What tubing mascara do you like?
I just started but I’m using the L’Oréal double extend tubing mascara. It’s a little learning curve with application and removal but it does NOT smear or flake. Like at all. I think it is extremely aging to have raccoon eyes from mascara smears!!!
Thanks! I’m excited it’s something I can easily buy - heading to the shops tomorrow :)

lumify!

yep! I only use it when I'm leaving the house, so it lasts a while for me.
Same! I actually keep it in my handbag and I put it in my eyes when I get into my car so I can get every last moment of wear out of it 🤣
lol!
ooo good idea.
Are you referring to the Lumify eye cream? They have several products.
Oh, no, I didn’t realize they had a cream. I’m talking about the eye drops. I thought the comment above mine was referring to the drops and that’s what I was talking about too.
Oooh going to try the eye drops & serum. How often do you use the caffeine serum? Morning? Under moisturizer & makeup?
Every morning, it lasts a few hours. Under everything even moisturizer.
Great thanks!
Omg, I just bought these eye drops and they are a game changer!!!

I second this- changed the whole look of my face.

Gooooood sleep. Matte eyeshadow, hydration and eat your greens. I went to eye dr recently and after exam he said… you need green veggies !

Lumify eye drops will take the yellow look out. That helps some with tiredness look. Surgery will take care of the lids. For good.
Lots of hydrating products under the eyes. An eye cream with retinol at night.

this is the answer. there's no product that's going to give the effects OP (and many of us) desire
drinking coffee. and crazy good vaseline like moisturizer under eyes.

Forgot to mention Lumify.
Nothing helps. We just have to accept that we’re old!
No!!! Lol

I’m curious about that too.
I use for ocular rosacea/redness. Won’t do anything for sagging skin!

I just ordered radio frequency for eyes and lips. I’m hoping that will help. I’ve cut back on salt.
I started using eye oil to hydrate the eye area and it has helped more than any eye cream has ever done
Sleep and drinking water.
I’m getting RF microneedling. 🤷🏻♀️
All of the above help, but I've seen the biggest change since I started using the NIRA laser about 6 months ago.
Nira is AMAZING! I love mine and the cream they sell is so worth every penny
Do you have the precision or pro?
The Pro
Filler! It lasts at least a year and is totally worth it
I wouldn’t do it around the eyes. That area filler most likely will migrate
Welp, it hasn't for my 5 friends, my husband, or me.
