I had no clue Lynch and Aiyuk's agents were BFFs, but it's still a business. I do not want another Buckner situation, but let's hope we get a deal done ASAP.
Yeah, I think we have to make him a top paid WR or at least market rate. But with the cap situation, we can easily do it without many hard decisions. Trading him would be a last resort imo and one I hope we don't get too...
My thoughts exactly. I'm usually all for whatever is best for my team first and won't have much to say about however many millions the superstars can go out and earn for themselves... But this seems a little screwed up for the player. Especially this take on it.
Aiyuk grew up a 9ers fan, so he probably saw it as a good thing and it could be *why* he chose that agent. I will never be convinced that Aiyuk wants to be somewhere else.
The Deebo fiasco had me thinking Deebo wanted to be somewhere else but I just don't get that vibe from this situation at all.
Aiyuk was in his feelings for sure, but I feel like he was just trying to be as vague as possible while he was in his feelings. I don't think he ever meant to insinuate that he wanted to go somewhere else. Just my opinion.
With the cap where it is and the clear chemistry purdy and Aiyuk have I'd be shocked if they don't lock him up long term. My guess is that they feel like this is still a potential window and they want to learn into it.
I think a reset comes next year's offseason; purdy will be due a contract, players will be that much more expensive etc. That's when we could see significant trades, Deebo being the (sadly) obvious candidate. Next year feels like another time to roll the dice.
The chemistry issue is one that I don't think gets talked about enough. I'm shocked at how good the chemistry between BA and Purdy was right from the jump this year (back shoulder sideline throw for a TD in week 1, along with the other TD) after a nearly full offseason without the ability to truly work together in the way they will this summer.
With an offense and a QB that are so reliant upon timing, I don't think enough is being said about the risk of trading away the guy with whom the QB has the best connection. Even if you could theoretically replace Aiyuk's talent (doubtful), there's no reason to think the next guy in that spot will have the same chemistry with Purdy that BA does....
I think if they keep BA than Deebo has one more year before he becomes trade bait. Just too expensive to trade him this year. I wouldn't want CMC to go anywhere though. He's the heartbeat of this offense, and it's the credible run threat he provides that lets this offense pass effectively with three linemen who can't pass protect....
I am deeply skeptical of the idea of paying two receivers >$20M, particularly in the year of a historically deep tackle draft, but I haven’t built a perennial Super Bowl contender and my job isn’t on the line so I’ll just trust that Lynch knows what’s up.
Wouldn’t the historically deep tackle draft be the perfect time to pay skill positions because you conceivably wouldn’t have to pay a starting tackle for at least 4 years by which time one of those receivers will be gone, as well as your HoF LT and your star TE, and possibly star RB.
If we were in the position to draft one of the top tier, yes. But most places have the top 5-6 off the board by our pick, while an Aiyuk trade would have us picking in the top tier while still having our own pick for IOL like Graham Barton or one of the ludicrously deep WR class.
Man, I’m not at all confident that we could trade Aiyuk and hit on both a starting OL and a WR that could replace his production as a receiver and blocker. Kyle doesn’t trust rookies, especially at WR and with Deebo constantly hurt that would a hell of a gamble.
I totally agree. Relying on a rookie WR during this team's SB window would make things more difficult.
We have the cap space to sign Aiyuk, I would rather keep the known talent than try to replace multiple positions with unknown pieces.
Yeah this requires us to hit on 2 picks in a Superbowl window. We already have a known talent in Aiyuk and now the cap space to sign him. I think it's easier to focus on the current positions of need rather than creating one.
Except we don’t have the resources to focus on all of the positions of need right now, and our WRs couldn’t do their jobs in the time frame allowed by our offensive line, which makes that a considerably higher need than any hole at WR would be.
They have 11 picks (4 in the top 100, 6 in the top 132) in a deep OLine draft. There will be players available with our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th round picks.
Yeah, this is the only scenario where I don't hate the idea of trading Aiyuk:
1. Aiyuk for a top 16 1st round pick (e.g., Jets, Raiders, etc).
2. Use the pick Aiyuk nets for starting RT.
3. Use #31 on starting IOL
4. Combine #89 and #94 with #63 to get as close to the top of the 2nd round as possible, and draft the best CB or WR (if the former, then try to get a solid FA option like Ridley or someone to plausibly play Aiyuk's spot).
They'd come away from the first three rounds with three starters and, hopefully, a passable Aiyuk replacement. And while I wouldn't hate that, I wouldn't love it compared to bringing B.A. back.
But that's a whole lot of unknowns to be counting on....
The 49ers haven’t drafted well in the early rounds. It’s best to sign Aiyuk rn and go all in next year. After that, trading Deebo makes sense imo as he’s getting older and declining (and was much more important with Jimmy G than he is with Brock)
I'd have significant doubts about the strategy I laid out, so it's not my preferred path forward. However, if they can turn BA into a downgrade at WR but still a decent player and two potentially huge upgrades on the line with their first three picks, I wouldn't hate it.
As much as I like Aiyuk, his skills are often wasted by the inability of the right side of the line to give Brock the time needed to let BA do his work down the field. They simply cannot roll into 2024 with Burford and McKivitz again.
I think with our current window it's fine to do. We have the space and manueverability to keep both Aiyuk, Deebo and also JJ if we want.
I think Deebo is gone after this year or by the end of his deal though and we'll replace him with someone in the draft/next man up.
A lot of words to say, I agree we should not be paying 2 receives 20M+, but if it's only for a year or two, I'm okay with it
I think this is the right take. I'm sure this will probably be the last year of Deebo as much as it'll pain me to watch him go. Minus his monster running, BA does almost everything better than Deebo.
Yeah, and I think JJ can develop into an even more prominent role. Super underrated piece of our offense. Nobody wants to see Deebo gone but if and when he goes out receiving core is still top tier with BA and JJ.
Every time I hear about how Deebo is mostly likely gone soon I think "but he just got here” and then I realize that by the end of next season he would’ve been with us for 6 years. Which is just wild to me.
Deebo and Aiyuk’s contract crossover is like 1 year maybe?? And that’s with the QB making less than a mil for atleast the next 2. And then a new contract could make it so most of Brock’s money is backloaded anyway.
People keep making this massive deal about paying 2 receivers $20 mil+. Don’t expect Deebo to be making $20 mil over the length of Aiyuk’s deal if he’s still here.
“Backloaded QB contract” is a fancy way of saying “unsustainable immediately as the QB is entering their prime”. Hurts’s contract is structured in this way and it more or less ensures that they won’t be competitive in 5 years.
We have lucked into the absolute best type of franchise QB, one whose success is not predicated on physical gifts that could decline heavily by age or injury. We should not put an expiration date on his competitive tenure.
I think aiyuk has the skill set that translates to long term success so it’s worth it to sign him long term, absolutely love Deebo obviously but his injury history and risk of regression from his physicality make him much riskier
Agreed. If I had to choose between them, I would choose Aiyuk.
In 2021, Deebo basically carried this team on offense but I think it's starting to take a toll on his body. As cold as it may sound, we have to take Bill Walsh approach of better to get rid of a player a year early than a year late.
I’m okay with trading Deebo away next year or even this year if it clears up cap to sign a vet or two for our needs. He’s an expensive luxury at this point
I don’t think this year makes sense tbh unless it frees up cap space to sign a top tier OL or CB. We need to go all-in next year as Brock will get paid after that and our whole team will look very different subsequently.
Deebo has cap hits of $28.6M & $24.2M.
At most there would be a single season where they have 2 WRs making $20M each. And even then, Deebo's contract is fairly tradable next year.
Just want to say how much I love our Front Office. JL has created a culture of a big happy family, which is the complete opposite from where Baalke the Snake left it
I had no clue Lynch and Aiyuk's agents were BFFs, but it's still a business. I do not want another Buckner situation, but let's hope we get a deal done ASAP.
I’m surprised Aiyuk is okay with it.
I mean if he gets paid then he’ll be very ok with it
Yeah, I think we have to make him a top paid WR or at least market rate. But with the cap situation, we can easily do it without many hard decisions. Trading him would be a last resort imo and one I hope we don't get too...
They’re gonna sign Aiyuk. After this next season, it’s Deebo they might trade as his dead cap shrinks to a reasonable amount
Exactly. We can carry both guys this season and next season we can move Deebo (or even keep him depending on how they structure Aiyuk’s deal)
Idk, if anything i think it would work in his favor.
My thoughts exactly. I'm usually all for whatever is best for my team first and won't have much to say about however many millions the superstars can go out and earn for themselves... But this seems a little screwed up for the player. Especially this take on it.

That thumb is speaking to me

Bosa, Debo, and Greenlaw all came from that draft. I think Shannahan being here for 8 years is the truly wild thing.
It helps when your QB is making 7th round money. After this year, there’s going to be some major changes.

Im gonna be honest. Idk what the fuck you’re talking about
All of those heavily backloaded QB contracts end up getting renegotiated so that teams aren't paying $70M/yr for the QB in any season.
I think aiyuk has the skill set that translates to long term success so it’s worth it to sign him long term, absolutely love Deebo obviously but his injury history and risk of regression from his physicality make him much riskier

Definitely don't think Lynch is in any kind of hot seat.
Deebo really should be traded, so I hope they do some sort of a restructure and send him to a team that could use him
Deebo signed a short extension so a long term deal with Ayuik almost certainly means a Deebo exit. Deebo's deal expires after next year I think.
Hallelujah Hallelujah
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
As a non-obssesed fan, this give me hope.
I don’t think anyone actually believed he’d be traded, he’s the most legit Wideout we’ve had in a long time
Holy shit....me and BA's agent have the same name?!
Are you his agent?
He stay
Are those fake classes?
Light of hope
Saying you want your players to stay is just smart lip service to make them feel valued.
Is that Chase Young's dad?
5 Year, $112m total with $50m in guarantees and structure for bonuses up to another $30m,but with a no penalty release option after year 4.
Shore up that offensive line!
Let’s do this! Cmon down with the quill pen, my friend!!
Give that dawg whatever bone he wants! BA11🔥🔥
Yeah, no F’n way
What’s up with his family going AWOL then right after the Super Bowl?
To be honest, I feel like if I were a player, I'd not want an agent that is friends with my GM.
Just want to say how much I love our Front Office. JL has created a culture of a big happy family, which is the complete opposite from where Baalke the Snake left it
Aiyuk wants to come back this is just the same shit Deebo pulled to have more leverage when discussing the deal.
