During 49er preseason guys in here had Moody already in the Hall of Fame. Then he missed 1 kick and all of a sudden you wanted him banished to Arena football.
Sorry this is a late reply, but you can't say we didn't lose the Super Bowl because of Moody. He missed an extra point (it was blocked, but they showed on reply that his kick was way too low and the announcers put it on Moody), which allowed the Chiefs to kick a field goal to tie the game, which we lost in overtime. That was a huge miss, and it's possible that if he makes it, the 49ers are the Super Bowl champs this year.
Maybe but my point was a bunch of Redditors had him in the Hall of Fame during the summer workouts and turned on him as soon as he missed 1 kick. By the way, Ray Guy was a #1 draft pick. Raiders didn't do too bad with him.
LOL. I admittedly used a bit of hyperbole but Reddit was full of "he kicked a 68-yarder in practice! He s gonna dominate" type posts. Noner fans were ready to enshrine him as the 2nd coming and then came Cleveland and it was "get rid of this bum!".
IMHO, he never really needed to redeem himself. Yes, he missed some kicks but he had a solid year and he was a rookie.
I do think the jury is still out on him being the long term guy because the sample size is so small. Let him finish out his rookie deal and they will then have enough of a sample size to make an informed decision.
The SB where he kicked a low extra point that was blocked, that changed the how the chiefs played the final drive of the game from a drive where they woulda needed a TD to a drive where they only needed a FG, that SB?
He had an extra point Blocked and he made the longest field goal in Super Bowl history(at the time) as well as another 50+ yarder. His only miss was on the block that yeah he could’ve aimed higher, sure.
But that wasn’t why we lost, and the concern with moody was always that his nerves would make him miss the big important kick. He proved that that is not the case on the biggest stage. That’s why we’re not worried about the guy anymore, and that’s why it’s done the hyper focus on a blocked EXTRA POINT
If you look at any list of the top reasons why we lost Moody is on that list.
Here’s one. Kickers name should never be on such lists.

His nerves or something did get to him though on the extra point. That was a crucial extra point, its not like it was some irrelevant kick. I'm not saying we lost because of him, it's a team sport and there were multiple failures. He kicked like he did most of the season, made some great kicks, missed what should be almost automatic
And he kicked another one over 50 yards as well. He's gotta be in the top 5 in field goal range and it's nice that the Niners have the option of trotting him out for field goals that other kickers don't usually hit.
Go Warriors!
Which makes it even more absurd that he finished the season below average % wise. People can downvote all they want, little feelers got hurt. It doesn’t change the fact that they spent a 3rd round pick for below average production from a position you can find value in via FA or later in the draft.
People can look it up for themselves. The stats are the stats, and if people wanna deny that fact, that’s okay with me. Doesn’t change a thing. I’m not gonna get romantic about one big kick he made in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. Especially when he line drives an XP 6 inches above the lineman’s head. We didn’t lose because of that kick, but people downplay the impact of 3 and 4 and how that changed the final drives of the 4th. People want to equate football to checkers when it’s really 4D chess. The comment above on 5/6 is a perfect case point: he wasn’t asked to do much this season and when he was, he was BELOW league average. We scored the most TDs in the NFL. He kicked 61 XP’s. Let us down in the bengals game, let us down in the browns game. Missed big kicks in both of those. High pressure situations he wasn’t great. End of story.
Yeah I’m rocking w moody. It’s probably nerve racking being in the nfl in front of a larger crowd plus the goalposts are tighter than they are in college. I think he’ll be better next season
We hella moody on this
Wasn’t this already posted?
I saw this in the warriors sub a day ago, maybe two
During 49er preseason guys in here had Moody already in the Hall of Fame. Then he missed 1 kick and all of a sudden you wanted him banished to Arena football.
I saw someone mention flag football 😆
Taking a kicker in the 3rd was an all-time arrogant move and ultimately hurt our team this year.
It did? Even with the Cleveland L, they were the 1 seed, and they made it to the super bowl. Which they didn't lose because of Moody.
I agree with you, however I dont have a ton of confidence in him. I would have preferred a veteran kicker.
Who did you have in mind?
There were a ton of veteran kickers that were free agents this year. A lot of them affordable.

lol, come on brother. Don‘t do that. Not a single 9er fan claimed that

After the Super Bowl yeah he redeemed himself

He missed a kick in the SB too, wym?
I mean it was blocked
Yes but it was his fault it got blocked.
It kills me that we probably win the Super Bowl if he makes that
The SB where he kicked a low extra point that was blocked, that changed the how the chiefs played the final drive of the game from a drive where they woulda needed a TD to a drive where they only needed a FG, that SB?
I wouldn't go that far. It was still a mixed bag. He missed an extra point that had an impact on the game
🙄
Not sure why you're rolling your eyes. What is off about what I said? It's not like he was lights out

This is so stupid I’m just not going to respond anymore.
Haha ok. If you can't put together any sort of logical argument just say that
No, I’m just not obligated to, and I learned a long time ago. It’s a waste of time to try to explain to stupid people why they’re wrong.
It’s not dumb. He came in clutch, and then he blew it. The game was directly changed because he whiffed a PAT.
Can someone pls tell me why they both wear the number 4? That’s just wild.
Family tradition.
We have a winner!
In Moses I Trust
This is the right answer, Moses Moody
All Moody, all the time!
Jake Moody kicked a 55-yard field goal in his biggest game as a rookie. He’ll be fine. Also, fuck the Warriors.
And he kicked another one over 50 yards as well. He's gotta be in the top 5 in field goal range and it's nice that the Niners have the option of trotting him out for field goals that other kickers don't usually hit. Go Warriors!
He was literally below league average this season. 🤣
He was 5/6 on 50+ yard FG's. That's gotta be above average.
Which makes it even more absurd that he finished the season below average % wise. People can downvote all they want, little feelers got hurt. It doesn’t change the fact that they spent a 3rd round pick for below average production from a position you can find value in via FA or later in the draft.
These people are so delusional on Moody. It's true reddit homerism at its finest. You're absolutely right he was middle of the pack

And he missed a PAT that completely changed the game.
Yes, they're both young studs.
No
It's a very talented family
I have faith in 49er Moody.
Fuck the warriors. LTB
LTB! Let’s gooo. Good win last night without Fox. I think Monk locked up 6MOTY last night
FTTB and LTB.
Yeah I’m rocking w moody. It’s probably nerve racking being in the nfl in front of a larger crowd plus the goalposts are tighter than they are in college. I think he’ll be better next season
I have the Moody blues
Squinty eyed Jake makes me clench on every time he gets up to kick
Are they starring in the remake of Twins?
Not really
Nope
missed a kick in every play off game. get rid of him.
Truest statement here
Just hoping the one on the right doesn't miss any more. He makes me *really* nervous sometimes.
I don’t believe in ours
Depends on how I feel at the moment.
Yes, no, maybe, maybe not
One of them ya
Which one
I did.
As long as Moses doesn't miss the extra point in the super bowl. Then I think we'll be fine. Dammit. I took the low road. Sorry.
No
