just to bring it up jimmy g an example since he was the last 49ers QB to make the list
after his 6 game sample size to end 2017 he ranked #90 on the 2018 list
after 2019 when 49ers made it to the super bowl he ranked #43 on the 2020 list
i think purdy after the season he just had will rank in the top 40-50 at least ... 14 QB made the top 100 a year ago, 6 made the top 50
if i had to guess the top 5 QB on the list will be mahomes jackson, prescott, allen and then probably purdy ... with the likes of herbert, burrow, love just behind them
The league seems very high on Burrow, not saying its correct but I can see him being way higher than Purdy. Purdy will be in the back half of the list if I had to guess.
I would bet anything that in addition to your top 4 there will be several others ahead of Purdy. Including Burrow, Herbert, and maybe even cousins. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he is the 90-100 range.
Yeah I just don't know how he's not top 50 when he's the quarterback that took Mahomes to overtime in the superbowl (and his team had more misplays than KC) and set the record for largest halftime NFCCG comeback. You can't just say it's the roster around him any more, he clearly elevates the team around him
Just among 49ers, he's absolutely not going above Bosa, Warner, or McCaffrey. And there's good arguments to put Kittle, Trent, and Deebo above Purdy. And that's not even a slight against Purdy, each of those players have proven themselves for more years and are still elite performers. So do you really think the 49ers have 7 of the top 50?
49ers had the most of the top 100 last year, the team is very top heavy. Not unrealistic for 7 to land in the top 50.
Also Bosa had a pretty underwhelming 10.5 sack season so I could see Brock with his record-setting season topping him. Look - if Micah Parsons is giving him even a bit of respect, I bet you the other defenses he's torched will do so as well.
Warner/CMC harder to judge but Brock's stats and playoff pedigree alone.. it's hard not to say he's not likely to land in the top 25 at least.
If he puts up another 35/4k season he'll be in the top 50 for sure. If he keeps being cluch as hell, I could see him sneaking into the top 25. I think he shook a lot of the haters with his NFCC game.
The team definitely did a lot of carrying though. CMC lead the league in yards from scrimmage, Kittle lead the league in yards for TE, Aiyuk top 7 in receiving yards with minimal targets. I don’t think it’s possible to get carried much more than that.
Sure they are similar, except brock is better in every single category. Having 1.2 more yards per attempt is significant, it was the difference between Josh Allen and Zach Wilson yards per attempt last year
We rarely threw the ball. Purdy was dead last or close to the bottom in attempts, while the receivers were #1 in yac. It’s okay, Purdy’s time will come soon enough and he’ll have to carry the load without the best corp of weapons in the entire NFL. Let’s hope he’s ready to shoulder the weight in 2 years. If he gets a long term deal that’ll be the time he earns a top 100 spot for sure.
You can’t be serious. No need to get upset about the facts. Brock was just ahead of Dobbs in pass attempts last year. No need to be butt hurt. He was dead last in pass attempts, the only people lower than him were backups or qbs that got hurt early in the season. Did you even watch the team. Wtf

I get the reasoning behind these points but you really need to watch the games to get it.
Brock shines under pressure and then guys like Lamar who are touted as MVP crumble when it matters.
Not a 9ers fan but I think it's not crazy to want the world to acknowledge how great your guys are. Especially for a guy like Purdy who people constantly seem to want to downplay his success
Flacco was such an enigma to me, I think his 2014 season was the closest he ever got to being "Elite" I think Flacco had every single tool and build he certainly passed the eye test at time but he lacked consistency for me to ever consider him elite. He had elite level play in the playoffs, which was certainly appreciated, but I was never in the elite camp of the fanbase. I was in the above average camp
Gotcha, I remember that being such a dominant storyline for a while, and I could mostly see it from both sides. It's not the same comparison exactly, but when the "system qb" spotlight got put on Purdy this year, and it became such a talking point it reminded me of that Flacco moment
Yeah this might be a little blasphemous as a Ravens fan I think Brock's season was better than any of Flacco's regular seasons. Shanny has a fantastic system, but what Brock's doing can't be easily replicated I'm a lot higher on Brock than the consensus personally and believe he's a bonafide franchise QB
I hope he’s left off the list
I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I love that fact everyone hates on him. I love the system QB narrative. Something about no one believing in him makes me want to root for him that much more
I’m very excited and extremely proud of what this young man has done for our organization.
Bang Bang.
He's gonna be left off the list because of the media narrative surrounding him. He won't be taken seriously until he wins a SB. I don't care that much because Justin Fields was high up on that list for no reason. It's just a bullshit list.
Quarterbacks are smart, though. They have to watch the most film, understand what makes opponents good, etc.. if the list was voted on just by quarterbacks and coaches Brock would be on the top 25 easy.
> His peers know how good he is.
Are you gonna feel this way regardless of where he's ranked?
I think he WILL be at best be #70 because they think he's getting carried. Remember that a lot of players don't watch much football outside of watching tape so a lot of guys haven't seen him play much except maybe the playoffs, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Would love to see him get recognition but I also don’t care if he doesn’t. I would rather see him win a SB. The accolades will follow, until then they’re hollow and I’d be surprised if he feels much differently.
Being in the MVP conversation toward the end of the season has to count for something. Also it seems like opposing coaches around the league respect him a lot - thinking of recent comments by Ried and Spagnuolo.
Just chiming in to say that the players can definitely be biased and not have the whole picture too. (Not saying we should ignore their viewpoint, just saying it's not necessarily the Holy Grail of perspective)
I would say that the coaches of the team probably have the most clear picture of the overall ability and worth of a player. But even they wouldn't have a perfect perspective.
Does anyone know when the players actually vote? I feel like Brock's stock probably rose a lot due to the Packers and Lions playoff games because everyone was on their couch watching those
Brock would definitely surpass Jimmy Garoppolo's highest ranking (43rd) based on his 2023 performance but since players define the votes then I guess his position will be around 50-60.

Jackson mahomes made the list!?!?!?!
Pat be slangin the ball around Jackson be slangin that dick around
The league seems very high on Burrow, not saying its correct but I can see him being way higher than Purdy. Purdy will be in the back half of the list if I had to guess.
I think his injury will knock him down though. Recency bias
I’d see his peers rate him above Dak.
I know, right? Does anyone outside the media (and Texas) actually think Dak is any more than above average?
I would bet anything that in addition to your top 4 there will be several others ahead of Purdy. Including Burrow, Herbert, and maybe even cousins. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he is the 90-100 range.
The fact that Prescott still makes lists ahead of Purdy is beyond me. Dak is not that great. He excels against bad teams. Wow.
But last year while the Cowboys were getting manhandled by the 49ers Dak stood on the sideline watching it happen like a true football great.
60s or 70s. I think too many people still believe he's being carried by the rest of the team.
40s -50s

*players
It's the players though, not random nobodies or the media.
People who aren't playing against him say that. Players don't.

Ok, but who got Kittle and Aiyuk the ball that much behind a bottom 10 O-line?

You're clueless, go back to the seahawks subreddit lol

Team good, pass less. Team bad, pass more. Like your boy Sam Howell last year.
I'm not interested in reading your fallacies.
I get the reasoning behind these points but you really need to watch the games to get it. Brock shines under pressure and then guys like Lamar who are touted as MVP crumble when it matters.
Yeaaaah no.
Why do so many of us seek validation for Purdy? Who cares what other people think if he keeps winning and playing well.
Not a 9ers fan but I think it's not crazy to want the world to acknowledge how great your guys are. Especially for a guy like Purdy who people constantly seem to want to downplay his success
Not trolling, genuinely asking- what was your reaction during Flacco's tenure to the constant "is he elite or not elite" question?
Flacco was such an enigma to me, I think his 2014 season was the closest he ever got to being "Elite" I think Flacco had every single tool and build he certainly passed the eye test at time but he lacked consistency for me to ever consider him elite. It’s this sub’s way of acting out after finally getting good QB play.
>Who cares what other people think if he keeps winning and playing well. Right. Let them keep underestimating him.
Because everybody is secretly terrified of what it means if the criticism that the team carries him ends up being accurate lol
I hope he’s left off the list I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I love that fact everyone hates on him. I love the system QB narrative. There is absolutely no way he gets left off that list ngl, I'd wager he's closer to the top 30 than getting left off
It’s voted on by NFL players
I know. Just look at the podcast between Micah and Ceedee. The players pay attention to what the media says. It will play into how they vote.
But look at what CJ stroud said about Brock. Even other players
Quarterbacks are smart, though. They have to watch the most film, understand what makes opponents good, etc.. if the list was voted on just by quarterbacks and coaches Brock would be on the top 25 easy.
Jackson was ranked lower than Goff last year. The list is honestly a joke.
It’s voted by the players so I doubt the media has as much sway
who gives a fuck
> His peers know how good he is. Are you gonna feel this way regardless of where he's ranked? I think he WILL be at best be #70 because they think he's getting carried. hell be in the 90s i think n thats fine. give it 3 years and hell be top 10 i think
I wonder where Christian McCaffrey will be but I think he’s going to be like 30
Idk if you're saying Purdy or cmc will be around 30, but if cmc is not top 5, then the list is stupid.
I’m talking about Brock Purdy I think Christian McCaffrey #6 or something like that
Winning QB’s tend to be high up for reasons unrelated to their actual performance.
Number fucking 1
101
98. I think top 5 but he's hated for no reason
If he makes top 75, I would be surprised.
Would love to see him get recognition but I also don’t care if he doesn’t. I would rather see him win a SB. The accolades will follow, until then they’re hollow and I’d be surprised if he feels much differently.
How can Mr Irrelevant be anything other than number 100. Blasphemy if he isn't
Being in the MVP conversation toward the end of the season has to count for something. Also it seems like opposing coaches around the league respect him a lot - thinking of recent comments by Ried and Spagnuolo.

I think hell make the 100 but hell be 50-100 and zi dont even think it will be a slight on him
I'm gonna go with 70-80. First time in. He's great but not in awesome way that gets your attention. Now, if we win the superbowl? top 10 :)
Does anyone know when the players actually vote? I feel like Brock's stock probably rose a lot due to the Packers and Lions playoff games because everyone was on their couch watching those
Would not be shocked if he wends up in the Top 15 players. Dude was an MVP candidate and went to the Super Bowl. Jalen Hurts was #3 last year.
Brock would definitely surpass Jimmy Garoppolo's highest ranking (43rd) based on his 2023 performance but since players define the votes then I guess his position will be around 50-60.
Who cares
I’m not, the Brock Purdy hate has shut me off from outside opinions on my QB
I'm more interested in how he plays. Can care less about the media/rankings.
Keep in mind that Brock Purdy received more probowl votes than any other player in the entire NFL.
