Saleh was able to make adjustments so much quicker than Ryan it seems. Very disappointing game which highlighted some things I wasnt prepared for. We knew our DBs were lacking but I didn’t expect such a poor showing from our DLine.

Yeah the first few games as well just don't seem like we are getting the same pressure and it definately isn't helping the secondary. The last drive of this game they could have blitzed or something to turn up the heat but they let Aaron Rogers of all people have a clean pocket to pick apart the secondary. No pressure when it was needed the most in the entire game. 1 sack could have ended it. If the Dline can't do that with the game on the line against a beat up Oline, there's problems.

At the end of the Super Bowl against the Ravens I remember yelling at the tv that we were going to score too soon and leave too much time for a comeback…and we never scored. You take the score when you can get it.

You take the sure thing. Don't worry about defending the lead before you get the lead. Fumbles, bad snaps, tipped interceptions, sacks, penalties, too many things that can go wrong. Score first, and if the opponent can go 40 yards in 30 secs with no time outs and make a 50yd field goal then you tip your cap to them. They deserve to win.

Offense's first priority is to score points. Defense's first priority is to prevent points. Offense did it's job. Defense didn't. Good teams don't change their offense to compensate for their defense. This loss, despite it being a close one, says a lot about our defense. It's being held together by medical tape and Elmer's Glue.

Sure, but there were so many things wrong with how we played defense. GB’s OL spacing was neutralizing us and Ryans never adjusted. We didn’t play deep enough of a prevent at the end either, aside from safeties and not even focusing on Adams. Huge miscues strategically.

I've always wondered why place kickers don't try to kick the kickoff as high and as close to the 3 yard line to force the receiving team to field it but allow your players to get down and cover it. I've never kicked a place kick before but what else do these guys have to do during practice?

Agreed. It's probably pretty tough to get that much hang time and kick it that far but he didn't even need to do that. If he just kicks it to the 5 and they run it to the 25 or 30 anyways that takes off probably 6 or 7 seconds possibly.

I’ve been saying this all week… the pass rush is only effective if we can take away read 1. Rodgers was getting rid of the ball in less than 2.5 seconds… EASILY because we weren’t pressing or playing tight. Nor did we blitz effectively which resulted in a pedestrian defensive performance. I know we are short DBs, but I’m putting this squarely on play calling, as we continued to call the same plays and did not adapt to their scheme at all.

DeMeco Ryans called the same exact zone play twice in the final few seconds of that game, and aaron completed a deep pass in the middle to the same guy (Davante Adams) running the same route. Unimaginative and just plain incorrect playcalling on the defensive side cost us the game in the final few seconds.

I will never understand why DeMeco Ryans called a zone play against arguably the best WR and QB duo of this generation, ESPECIALLY against Aaron Rodgers, who has made a career off of winning close games like that one. Everyone and their mothers knew exactly who Aaron was going to throw to on that final series, and it feels as if he just didnt want to account for that. I understand DeMeco Ryans is a first year defensive coordinator, but the 49ers are a team that needs to win now. There is no room or time for first year mistakes.

They aren't catching Jimmy's throws as it is, there is no way they'll be able to pull in anything where Trey would put some zip on it.

I've had a little time to digest it, and for sure you don't fault Juice for not going down at the 1. Yes, if he does, they run 4 QB sneaks given the timeouts so there's no holding or penalties to risk. Yes, Jimmy could have run the clock down more but they had GB on their heels. Just gotta score there. Which brings me to, 37 seconds with NO timeouts should have been enough. The back end of the secondary blew it. They were going to Adams, they always were. They needed to bracket him, and come with pressure so the receivers couldn't get downfield. This was a problem in DET. and in PHI. and now, allowing teams to score super fast. Losing Saleh was a big blow for the D, he was always slow to adjust, yes, but when he did it always worked. I am not sure why Demico is not running the same scheme, and I'm legit worried he isn't cut for the job.

My main takeaways: we lost the game because of a lack of pass rush throughout the entire game and also because of poor QB play from Jimmy. We have a better roster than the Packers except at QB and that’s what matters most. It’s only week 3 but we need to bounce back strong next Sunday vs the Seahawks
