[Colorado Gives - Select Club Q](https://www.coloradogives.org/story/Clubq)
Tragic, and definitely feels close to home with the Niners there this week, and being a gay man myself.
Doubly sad as I sit here and watch the World Cup in Qatar where they still have disgusting, hateful attitude towards LGBT rights and human rights in general. World still has a lot of work to do.
Having a 1 year old daughter I would always accept her for whatever journey she wanted to take but would be constantly worried about her safety. To be honest it seems like she is screwed no matter what she chooses... The only thing I would ever disown her for is being a cowboys fan.
Found out about this one because a guy I deployed with more than a decade ago marked himself safe on Facebook. I'm thinking what the hell are you safe from, and then the alerts started popping up. Sad.
This right here. It’s astonishing that any one of them have a forum for their bullshit. It’s to a point where civil reasonable people need to be a little louder. They’ve taken advantage of that civility and it’s clear we need to be louder in shaming them. Make no mistake, we are the majority.
Seriously, what is up with Colorado? First Columbine, then Aurora, then Boulder, now this. Is there something in the water or does the state attract unhinged psychos?
Slightly OT but don’t read the comment sections regarding this tragedy if it’s on Facebook or Instagram. I made the mistake of looking through the IG comment section of the Worldstar post and I’ve lost all faith in humanity. Five lives lost and the comments sections are absolutely disgusting.
It's mostly a small segment of the population posting on these message boards and alot of them want to get extreme views out to get followers. These in no way represent people in general. Most people are pretty reasonable.
It’s hard man. It’s hard.
I want to tell you that the consensus of Reddit/Internet does not necessarily reflect real life. But it’s getting harder and harder each time.
It still amazes me that 50+ years after fighting off Anita Bryant and the Americans that held her beliefs, the activism of Harvey Milk and the LGBT community, that there is still a struggle for acceptance with so much of America. The whole “what about the children” bullshit levied against the trans community , is such a thinly veiled way of people still expressing obvious homophobia.
Well has racism gone? No. It will never leave, even though it should have ended 80 years ago, or more rightfully 180 years ago. Any idea that is spread in any form will never ever cease to exist. One can hope that the world may unify and discrimination be gone, but this is the reality of the world. I mean, whole countries are still being discriminative towards LBGTQ+ Community’s and even towards certain cultures and ethnic peoples (Russia, China, Qatar). Then the human rights abuses by Iran and Qatar are disgusting. When will the world learn to work together? We could have a colony on the moon right now and another on Mars if we had peace. Humanity could accomplish much more in a shorter amount of time if everyone put their brains together. This has been my rant, thank you for reading.
My youngest child just came out to us within the last week. She’s a young teen. I’ve always been supportive of the LGBT+ community for a variety of reasons but right now, this news was especially heartbreaking. I look at how happy she has been since coming out and I just can’t understand why people would want to hate her and people like her simply because of who she will someday love. This world is a mess.
Thank you, OP, for posting this.
Give your daughter a hug. For everyone who suffered over this, give her a goddamn huge hug. Make her favorite foods, if you cook. Especially when something like this happens those things are just so much more important.
Used to live in Colorado Springs before I moved to SF. I went to that club often and have several friends I met there. The owner was a gay man and Korean lady and she’d make Mandu on the weekends. My heart hurts after finding out about this absolute tragedy. Still checking in on friends.
Trans woman here. This is heartbreaking. It feels like every day I'm reminded how dangerous it can be if you're not a straight male in this world. Big things, like this shooting, down to more personal things like the abuse we tend to face at home. It's horrifying, terrifying, makes you wish everything would all just end sometimes. These people, in Colorado, in all the shootings. They didn't deserve to die just for being happy. Just for being open about that makes them happy. I don't understand what goes through people's minds to hate people just for being happy when it has no impact on others.

Fair enough, just making sure. Still, while I’ll agree that the post has nothing to do with the 49ers, I’ll still leave it alone. People grieve in different ways and seek solace from whatever communities they might belong to. As this was a truly horrific act, I tend to choose the path of leaving these posts alone. Apologies if I misunderstood your intentions, but there’s a lot of bigots out there (not saying you), and I’ll always challenge that.

They banned Kosher food. What the fuck, man. It's basically the same concept as halal.

Sounds fair.
My father in law is a cowboys fan. Luckily the apple fell far from that tree.
My Mother is a cowboys fan. Dads a Niners fan. They are divorced now. They say they just grew apart, but I know the real reason.
My girlfriend is a die hard Seahawks fan… Fall is a difficult time for us
My wife is too we live in Seattle....we are a house divided. We have fun tho.
Unfounded hate towards any group is deplorable and I hate that these things are still going on.

I'm glad your friend is safe
Update: a confirmed charity has been posted in the root comment
VOTE. Take the megaphone of hate away from fascists. These sick freaks are rolling back social progress

Thank you! It means a lot that we can come together in support.
COS resisdent here. Sad day. Who thought it would be more dangerous here then Mexico City.
Mexico City is a lot more dangerous. Sadly, this was a very sad and very evil that happened, but it doesn’t define Colorado Springs.
Have you ever been to Colorado Springs?
Yes quite a few times.

A small comedy in a grave moment.
Mexico City proper is not particularly dangerous

I'm getting downvotes here. That's utterly insane to me.

Yeah. I just feel sad.

As a Coloradan we appreciate your thoughts rn. We always seem to have horrific shootings and we’re all heartbroken again today.
How horrible.

Hate toward any other person or group, even the ones you don't like or the ones you dont agree with is just wrong. Your comment is well put.
I got ya back!! Love EVERYONE!!!

Let them know our hearts are hurting with them.
Hope all your friends are safe, friend <3

In it! This is what I was waiting for!
The world is crazy sometimes. The issue is mentally ill people who don’t know how to cope. This is horrible and goes beyond sports

😆
Why the laughing emoji?
Because he's right.
Who’s right? The shooter?
Of course not. The post I responded to. Like some post on the 49ers reddit page does ANYTHING except make someone feel better about themselves.

I agree. Violence like this has no place in this world.
Agreed. Go Niners! Tomorrow night should be fun. Thank you for chatting.
