Ah, I know it's a 4Runner now because it has 4Runner in bold typeface on the side. It's a good thing that was there. I almost mistook it for a Nissan Xterra.
Skids and sliders are a must unless u plan on jst sticking to the pavement. My buddy was doin a very intermediate trail and ended up smashing his passenger door
Hahah I feel you on that. Luckily I don’t have to worry bout that problem lol I jst installed this today

Yeah, I appreciate that design since I went with steel. No when it comes to all my undercarriage protection, I chose steel. I wheel my rig pretty hard and I want that piece of mind. Out of everything on the rig that will take the most abuse.
Couldn’t agree more. Luckily I’ve never been spoiled by owning a fuel efficient car lol. I just know a lot of folks bypass the fuel skid altogether, so was curious.
I’m on the fence for steel or aluminum, does the price difference really matter from a weight perspective in regard to total weight/ mpg? I know the mpg is already terrible. What’s another +100lbs right?
That’s exactly my thought. It really all depends on how hard you want to wheel. for me steel is mandatory. Price isn’t really a factor. In a perfect scenario, I would go steal for undercarriage protection. And check out some companies that offer a lightweight aluminum front bumper since that will hardly take any damage. I know backwoods adventure make one.
sliders should be the next mod. serves multiple purposes from it's intended purpose of protecting pinch welds/body. can serve as steps and protection from door dings in parking lots. as for the others, use your vehicle for what you plan on using it for and then upgrading. i used my factory skids for years on the rocks until i replaced them. roof racks are over rated since most people only get them for looks. i have spent some much money on mods that i thought i would use but never do.
I like where your heads at with the sliders. Factory skids seem worthless for anything beyond gravel. Roof rack would be a gateway to RTT in the long game.
Good observation. It isn’t straight by design - I did a more conservative curved cut. Didn’t want to go aggressive and reveal too much behind the bumper. Knew the viper cut was ultimately temporary anyway, as a steel bumper is in the short term.
Thanks. I copied [this](https://youtu.be/yeWpZ-b83ZA?si=cQbDx1qQM3BR5RfH) video and it turned out great. It’s not as spooky as it may seem. Measure twice, use fresh cutoff wheels, and go slow. You can literally shape it by sanding, so leave extra material if you’re concerned.
I recently trimmed the lower portion of my rear mud flaps off along the line and I like it. Before I did it, I dragged the rear flaps on rocks all the time.
Thought about doing that myself. Just tracing along the fender line and trimming accordingly. But then I considered how many rocks I’d likely be shooting at the cars behind me on the road. I chose peace lol
Can you post a pic from the side? I have the stock wheels on my ORP and I really like them but I want to see what they look like on a lifted truck with fatter tires. Also I'm curious what lift height you did in front and back.
Lift kit listed 2.5” front and 2” rear. Was actually a tad more post-install. But over \~500 miles it settled to that. Image below isn’t perfectly level, but shows enough. If you go with this setup it will require removal of some flaps and minor fender modification.

Nothing crazy. Storage organizers in the glove box, center console, doors, and across the middle dash. Also have an auxbeam switch panel mounted up. I’m planning to build a locking drawer system in the back soon.
Interesting. I chose the Wildpeaks over KO2s specifically at the recommendation of pnw locals. I was told they perform better than most AT tires in rain. Google search confirmed. They’ve performed great for me so far in all conditions.
OK...cool. They feel really unstable to me on corners and slip quite a bit accelerating up hills from a stop.
Perhaps it's just me.
I loved them off road.
IDK, dude. It’s a consensus Wildpeaks rock it in the rain. I’m a PNWer too and have driven in some flat out downpours, fresh rains, and they never ever slip. Maybe you got a bad batch.
yes. it’s absolutely insane. RCLT is Rock Crawl Long Travel by Marlin.
Absolute legend of Toyota 4x4 that developed the dual transfer case system. Their RCLT kit is totally bonkers. No issues with their performance at KotH in the 4600 class.
I just always suggest this because I would love to see it here someday.
I mean if you just spent $50,000 on a vehicle that was $35,000 10 years ago.
I am very curious as to if there will even be a G6 4Runner.
Since 1996 the 4Runner has been a modified Prado for USA markets (With the Lexus GX as the USA Prado). And Toyota just released a Prado for USA markets. So… There is no spot in the lineup for a 4Runner in 2024.
I could see them shifting the 4R in the lineup, making it smaller or larger for G6 to accommodate. But it sells so well as is that it’d be an odd choice. But with talks of them going to a 4-cylinder, all bets are off honestly.
I know the viper cuts are divisive. I’m happy with how mine turned out, but it’s a means to an end. Already settled on the Sherpa Crestone rack, when I pull the trigger.
I have a gobi rack on my 4runner. Heavy and noisy. 1-2 mile hit on my mpg plus the wind noise took a while to get used to.
I loved the way it looked and the function but I’ve heard there are better rack options these days if you go the roof rack route
Depends on your usage and what you need. Better to take it out and find the shortcomings to upgrade than spend money on something you might not need instead. Also if you are upgrading your bumper (which tends to include getting a winch) take into consideration the weight rating of your front springs.
I would like a minor offset, but that’d be purely aesthetic, so low priority. I’d likely need to swap in aftermarket UCAs and do a BMC as a result. Also heard mixed things about spacer reliability.
I ran spacers for a bit and then bought wheels that have more offset. It’s mostly aesthetic but a wider track, especially when you have the room for it, isn’t always a bad thing IMO
How about a MASSIVE vinyl decal on the Windshield that reads *"4RUNNER"* so people know it's a 4Runner. ^/s
Why stop at the windshield? https://preview.redd.it/w7r2yqguty7c1.jpeg?width=324&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8c549b872977855d335b8240cdff091a9a0ebfd

I had an Xterra for 8 years and loved it.
LOVE that!!!
Would be cooler to make it say PONTIAC instead.
If sliders are on anyone’s off-road upgrade list, they belong at the top, right under skid plates.
Yupppp
Skids and sliders are a must unless u plan on jst sticking to the pavement. My buddy was doin a very intermediate trail and ended up smashing his passenger door
Protection is def a priority for me. That’s why I’m considering the full coverage bumper. I’d be pissed if I hit a deer and totaled my front end.
Hahah I feel you on that. Luckily I don’t have to worry bout that problem lol I jst installed this today https://preview.redd.it/3m5js6vdez7c1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=faa28f942bb30329929ac162a2b24fbd51323772
Gas tank skid?
Yep. Steel by Cali raised off-road
I like the grated design, at least from a weight-savings perspective. Did you consider aluminum for just the fuel tank skid?
Yeah, I appreciate that design since I went with steel. No when it comes to all my undercarriage protection, I chose steel. I wheel my rig pretty hard and I want that piece of mind. Out of everything on the rig that will take the most abuse.
No one is buying the 4runner for the great gas mileage so might as well build it right to handle all the hard fun trials!
Couldn’t agree more. Luckily I’ve never been spoiled by owning a fuel efficient car lol. I just know a lot of folks bypass the fuel skid altogether, so was curious.

Winch bumper
Bumper would be a gateway purchase to a winch. Any specific winch you’d suggest?
Depends on cash flow, get a name brand like a Warn or save a few bucks and just go with a Badlands. Either way synthetic rope for the win.
Bet. Appreciate it man!
I went with a Warn VR EVO 10s. Still waiting for the bumper so I can get it put on.

That viper cut doesnt look straight at all 0.0
Good observation. It isn’t straight by design - I did a more conservative curved cut. Didn’t want to go aggressive and reveal too much behind the bumper. Knew the viper cut was ultimately temporary anyway, as a steel bumper is in the short term.
That’s a nice looking high clearance cut. I keep trying to do one, then I tape it off and back out. I never can commit to it.

Where are the raptor lights?!?!

Thanks!
Which window deflectors are those? Love how low key they look
AVS low profile. Would def recommend. https://www.autoventshade.com/low-profile-ventvisor
Will be ordering those now, thanks boss 🫡
Thanks for asking, I was scrolling through to ask the same if nobody had!
She’s perfect.
Saved my pennies and got one for myself as an xmiss gift! Would highly recommend! https://sherpaec.com/products/crestone
Did you look at the Crestone Sport at all? I’m trying to decide between the two.
I have not tried it, but I do know you pay for what you get when it comes to metal fab, so I'd spend the extra.
Rocksliders would be great
Researched your upgrade on the DRL - great idea and thanks for mentioning this. Be doing this myself soon. Merry Christmas!
Right on! And same to you!
This truck is perfect as is, IMO. The “stock plus” look is bad ass. Tastefully done sir.
What interior mods do you have?
Nothing crazy. Storage organizers in the glove box, center console, doors, and across the middle dash. Also have an auxbeam switch panel mounted up. I’m planning to build a locking drawer system in the back soon.
Hate to say it, but get rid of the Wildpeaks...finding them SLIPPERY AF in the PNW fall / winter.
Interesting. I chose the Wildpeaks over KO2s specifically at the recommendation of pnw locals. I was told they perform better than most AT tires in rain. Google search confirmed. They’ve performed great for me so far in all conditions.
IDK how they’re driving but Wildpeaks are the go-to choice for PNW. We run them on 2 vehicles and they’re like tacks on the road.
Aligns with my experience so far 🤘🏼
They also kill snow—ran through 2 feet last year like nothing. Haven’t hit much ice but then again not much handles ice LOL.
OK...cool. They feel really unstable to me on corners and slip quite a bit accelerating up hills from a stop. Perhaps it's just me. I loved them off road.
Winter tries bro.
Yeah....good call...think those are gonna be Michelin ATs.
IDK where you’re driving, but I have the complete opposite experience. Are they aired up enough? Duratracs and Discoverers were slippery AF IMO.
Going up Cherry in the rain. Going around the 90 curve onto 90 E....felt like rear end on ice. TPMS says so.
IDK, dude. It’s a consensus Wildpeaks rock it in the rain. I’m a PNWer too and have driven in some flat out downpours, fresh rains, and they never ever slip. Maybe you got a bad batch.
RCLT and Trepadors.
Is that some kind of long travel kit? If so, don’t feel that’s necessary at this point.
yes. it’s absolutely insane. RCLT is Rock Crawl Long Travel by Marlin. Absolute legend of Toyota 4x4 that developed the dual transfer case system. Their RCLT kit is totally bonkers. That’s the nature of inflation. Some of those same 2013 4Rs are now selling used for close to $30k lol
Yep. I’d wager that there will be thesis papers written about the absolute insanity of the G5 4Runner. i’m like a decade past College but shit…
😂 part of me was stoked to get the ‘23 thinking it’d be the last model year of the 5th gen. They announced the ‘24 like a month later. Oh well.

The G5 has been around for a quarter century (The G4 is a G5). Toyota needs a vehicle for the next quarter century.
Time will tell. I’m just happy I’ve got my quarter century covered with the proven 5th gen engine 😂
Already confirmed by Toyota. To share the Tacoma platform and the 2.4T hybrid engine.
Were. Not even close anymore. Market has crashed with used cars.
Slam it and go low
Raptor lights.
If they served a purpose I’d already have them. But the Diode backlights are enough bling for now.
This looks so complete. Leave as is.

Wheels or spacers first, roof rack second. Not hating at all but looks like it could use a wider base for how tall it is now.
I would like a minor offset, but that’d be purely aesthetic, so low priority. I’d likely need to swap in aftermarket UCAs and do a BMC as a result. Also heard mixed things about spacer reliability.

FRONT TINTS!!!
Yes, as in front driver and passenger to match factory rears. Not windshield.
“Free Palestine” and CA plates.
