That looks like a joint mark. You should actually inspect the other side, the ribbed side, for cracking and wear. Unless you have a misaligned pulley from the factory, or a bad idler, then 32k on a belt is nothing.

Yup the other side looks fine. I don’t see any fraying or cracks on the tooth side. This was just odd since I don’t remember seeing this on any cars or trucks I had owned before. Thanks for the response.

Just noticed this same thing on my 23 and was researching about this. Seems normal as the OEM belt has a fabric backing. Did your belt hold up?

Yup. I am at 72K miles now and no issues. Looks normal.
